My brother and I always stuck to family traditions and I always knew they'd change the older we got, but I didn't expect this year to lead to us both being naked together under the fireworks on 4th or July after I catch my boyfriend cheating on me.
The potential for a good story was there, but the balance between plot and sex scenes was completely off. I've enjoyed my share of PWP in the past, but when an erotica book has a meaningful plot I expect the author to nurture and develop it. Here the plot (evil ex) fizzled and died pretty quickly; it's replaced by a tedious sequence of sex scenes. A new plot showed up abruptly around 60% (evil dad) only to fizzle out and die again. In addition, I didn't like the plot - quite unwise revenge on the two evils, considering the brothers had a lot more to lose - and the sex scenes, which seemed to focus around crossing off items from extreme penetration kink list.
Kenny Catfishes his brother Casey's boyfriend to get Casey to dump him. Then he shows Casey he's a better boyfriend. In a hot, taboo story Kenny shows Casey brothers do it better and love each other more. Just because it's the Fourth of July doesn't mean these guys can't produce fireworks everyday.
There was more sweetness with this than I was expecting. Hot ✅️ Taboo ✅️ a bit filth ✅️ but underneath all that good stuff was quite a tender line joining everything together. Kind of made the story for me. Smut is great, but smut and love, perfect. Well written, very easy read. Recommended read.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Fireworks by Beckett Layne is about Casey and Kenny. I liked their story. It was sweet, sexy and well written. This is a story about 2 brothers so if that isn't your thing then this book isn't for you. If you don't care about or even love brothers becoming lovers then this book is certainly for you
Absolutely brilliant loved Fireworks short but sweet & sexy taboo but very hot ...... brothers Casey & Kenny are amazing together both have feelings for each other that turns into so much more it sizzles with heat these two are something very special.
When Casey’s boyfriend proves to be unfaithful, his brother Kenny steps in and finally acknowledges the feelings that they always had for each other. This short, taboo read is packed with steam, love and sizzling chemistry between the brothers. Definitely a recommended read.
A spicy novella, with a hint of sweetness and fireworks for days. Beckett Layne writes taboo so well. And this book is definitely taboo, so avoid if that’s not your thing. Loved the sweet revenge on the ex.
This book was so spicy, yet sweet as Kenny has been looking out for Casey without Casey knowing and proves to him that he would do anything to take care of him.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review
