The Immortal Plane #2

All That Soars

Rate this book
Ren Belling made a vow to save her friends.

Now she's stuck in her mother's hostile court, expected to play the role of Ariadne Dawnpaw's beautiful heir, the girl worth tearing the Divide apart to find. But the elixir demands a cost that she isn't willing to pay and she bends until she nearly breaks.

Refusing a crown that is hers by birthright and a court that might have been home in another life, Ren feels utterly alone. Until she finds companionship from an unlikely source. She isn't willing to trust again, not yet. But her heart is more willing to give itself away than she logically wants to admit.

Backed into corners again and again by her own mother's scheming, Ren lashes out in any way she can. And when that desperation sends her spiraling, she reaches out with the only thing that remains.

Faith.

whimsical, intense, and diverse!

I took my time reading this series, I wanted to slowly soak up each chapter, grasping how the world was structured and how each court was represented. The immortal plane is made up of 3 main courts, all represented by neutral colours (brown, white and black) and between each of those courts is a series of seven minor courts each one a different colour of the rainbow (where each colour represented a different strength or desire for the fae, for example blue was for the academics etc)

The plot was so well structured, it was easy to follow along and the setting and characters were so thoroughly depicted that it was clear and detailed. The topics of segregation between fae and mortals, the great immortal war that started it all, the misunderstood characters of the ‘blood and bone court’ gave the same vibes as acotar but with a vastly unique storyline. There were moments I was so giddy I was blushing and grinning from ear-to-ear, moments of shock that left me gasping and staring at a wall, anger and frustration and even moments I was laughing from the sarcasm and banter between the characters.

I love how A.N. Horton developed these characters, nothing was instantaneous, the trust had to be built from scratch and the journey to different courts and training was slow and high stakes. Ren also had to learn the rules of the immortals and also train her own abilities which proved challenging and tedious, it felt realistic in the sense that she didn’t pick up on everything right away, she was an academic so the concepts made sense but putting them into action required more time and physical concentration that she wasn’t used too.

The villain to the story was so unexpected and so intriguing that the last 100+ pages for both books were intense and had me in a chokehold. I’m also so glad I waited to finish the first book until after the sequels release because you’ll need book 2 immediately after. Thank you so much to A.N. Horton for sending me an ebook copy of ‘all that falls’ it was an incredible fantasy story that was whimsical, intense, and diverse.

Wowwwww this was amazing this book needs way more hype. I loved the political intrigue and plot in this book. If you love Acotar you will definitely love this series. This was intense I was at the edge of my seat and I literally devoured this book.

And the found family and the bonds formed in this book was so wholesome and I loved how they are there for each other through all the hardships and brutality.

This fantasy world is also unlike any fantasy book I have read before it is so unique.

Lark the fae prince is just🤭🤭🤭.....like immediately going on my book boyfriend list!

THE ENDING!!!! Crazy I need the next book like immediately.

Second book to All That Falls releasing this October.

Thank you to A.N. Horton for the ARC of All That Soars.

I loved this book. Very ACOWAR & Glow of the Everflame.

Slooooow burn. Fae, politics, impending war. Learning of powers. Abduction. Bonds & betrayal. Loved it. I’m very excited for the 3rd (and I think final) book. No rush, we can wait patiently.

I enjoyed Ren learning more of the courts, and her powers. She’s stubborn and sassy and I appreciate her character so much. The side characters are loveable and I felt for them too. This really feels like you’re reading about your friends and you are just wishing the best for them as they try to not go to war, but it looks like they’re very much headed there; head on with the wicked witch of the west basically… and all too close for comfort family member. Really good!

5/5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

If you thought All That Falls was amazing, this second book will blow your mind.

The trials and triumphs of Ren and the gang had me on the edge of my seat and I absolutely ate this book up from start to finish.
I’m very honoured to have been accepted to read the advance reader copy of this book that comes out on October 29th!!

In this book we see the full extent of Ariadne Dawnpaw’s brutality and it will shock you to your core. Ren is trapped, bound to her mother but she made a vow to keep her loved ones safe. How can she know if they are truly safe, from inside the belly of the beast.
A prisoner in a beautiful cage, she struggles to keep her head above water until she finds companionship in an unlikely new character. Who is the mysterious stranger?
Together they delve deeper into knowledge passed down through millennia and Ren begins to understand exactly what magic is through the only way she knows how, hitting the books and using her time as a professor to help her along the way.

When Ren reaches her breaking point, with nowhere else to turn she ends up in the last place she expects to find herself. Why? She latched on to the last little shred of herself that she could and it just might be her saviour.

Can Ren, Lark and the others find a way to bring the realm together against Ariadne Dawnpaw?

It all starts with the elixir. Is forever worth the great cost to her soul?

Secrets, lies, deception, that’s the name of the game.
Find out on October 29th!

Thank you to A.N. Horton for the chance to read another ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book called, All That Soars. This was book 2 of this romantasy trilogy, book 1 I read a few weeks ago called, All That Falls. This book picks up right where book 1 left off, the main character, Ren, goes through so much in this book, and after everything she feels like she's not the person she used to be anymore. But she is still strong, brave, compassionate, understanding, witty, and fierce. She looks danger in the eyes, with her head held high, willing to do whatever it takes to protect those she cares about. She's such an incredible character. This immortal realm and their courts have been so well thought out, this is such an enjoyable series. I love all these characters so so much! I was torn between wanting to fly through this one because I was loving it so much, but also wanting to read it slowly to savor it because I knew after this now I only have one book left in the trilogy to read! I don't want this story to end! 💚📚

Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of All That Soars, in exchange for an honest review.

3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ — I liked this one more than the first one & the stakes are DEFINITELY higher now! There were some things that kept it from being 4 or 5 stars, but it’s still a good time & a quick read. It picks up right after the events of book 1 & includes:
- fae court politics
- family DRAMA
- soul bonds
- magic
- low spice
- battle & war prep

PROS
- Ariadne is a proper villain & while I LOATHE her, her presence in this sequel makes the whole story so much more dynamic than what we saw in book 1.
- Glad Ren is bringing more of her analytical & scientific mind back. Her spectrum of emotions this book was well done.
- Lark & Ren’s relationship got explored more & getting to see them interacting with each other & the world as a bonded pair which was a real highlight.
- Ren & Cass’s friendship shines. Just girly things.
- The betrayal! Maddening. Not wholly unexpected but it still stings. UGH.
- Really enjoyed the politicking with the other courts & even within the Bone Court siblings.
- Some side characters my heart hurts so much for & I just need them to be okay.

MIDS
- This isn’t a con since I feel like is intentional but I don’t understand the scope of Ren’s powers. But neither does she yet, so like I said I think it’s intentional. So it’s sometimes like “oh didn’t know she could do that” in a “this is badass but also maybe slightly convenient?” way.

CONS
- Because I didn’t read this immediately after book 1 I felt a little lost to start, even after going back & reading my own review as a refresher. I wish we had more reminders of who people were, what they looked like, what the courts were, who has what magic, etc. vs. just being expected to remember it all. I wanted more reintroduction.
- The gods felt introduced sort of suddenly. Like all the sudden they’re there & matter. Was just a little whiplash-y.
- This could also be because it has been a minute between reading book 1 but while Ariadne rules as a villain I sort of just don’t get her motivation anymore? This could be intentional (because we find out lots of stuff as we go) but it makes it a little like, “Why are we even doing this? For what?”

Definitely going to read the final book but doing so immediately after so I don’t lose anything in ye olde brain!

A fantastic sequel to this series - i was dying to read it and find out what happened next and it did it disappoint! I absolutely loved it.

Its a little slow paced like the first one but the details that you gain throughout comes together in the final chapters and you cant believe you missed them! I was completely enraptured! I read this book in record time, in one evening because i was so excited to see how the story would unfold.

Our FMC is still feisty and finding her place in the new world she has found herself in and is navigating all of her feelings. Our MMC is broody and protective, as we like and her found family is supportive, with witty banter.

So if you havent already, get it on your TBR and in your basket! This series deserves so much hype!

I need the next one NOW!!

We jump back into the story right where we left off in All That Falls, right after Seren was forced to drink the immortality elixir by her mother Ariadne. Once she wakes up and is healed from her transformation to an immortal creature, she remains trapped in her mother’s court.

While here, it’s so touching to see her receive training from her father on how to block out her mother from her mind. While he is not Fae, he is immortal as the first person to take the immortality elixir. He also shares that Ariadne Brock the oath that is keeping Seren there, but she still is unable to escape. Seren keeps her fighting spirit up for a few weeks while training with her father and studying in the library with her cousin Irim. Sadly, her mother finds out about both and breaks Seren’s spirit. We also learn more about Ariadne’s immense powers after stealing magics from her own father and Perseus, Lark’s father. She is able to go into Seren’s mind and take over control of her body and magic, forcing her to torture her cousin. When Seren sees this, she is willing to go to extreme lengths to prevent her mother from using her in this way again, contemplating SI. Luckily, she actually shadow-steps to Lark before she’s able to go much further beyond cütt!ng up her hands.

Hallelujah!! She is back with Lark, Cass, and Rook. Since the power of shadow-stepping seems to be a power unique to the Bone Court, I wonder if she can share this power with Lark as his bonded. Does that mean he might be able to share in her power as well with sensing emotions and manipulating them?

As they work to gather allies against Ariadne, there are so many juicy, tension-filled moments between Seren and Lark as they (somewhat) try to resist their attraction to each other. There’s not much reason to as they are bonded, other than they are trying to focus on preparing for war, or to attempt to broker a peace with Ariadne. Lark is being a gentleman, giving her space to figure things out before diving head-first into him. But he continues to let her know that he loves her and will always do whatever he can to protect her. We do see some moments of jealousy when Seren sees the easy banter he has with his ex. Just because they’re familiar doesn’t mean he’s not smitten with you girl!

“Magical bond or no, Ren Belling, I am yours.”

I love the building of her other relationships as well! Cass continues to give her grey clothes until she aligns herself fully with the Bone Court by changing her clothes to black. Then, it’s “let the games begin” with all the clothes Cass can bring her! All the girl talk they share shows such a beautiful friendship. And all the teasing, innuendos, and knowing looks from Rook when she wants to be alone with Lark. So funny! He knows when he needs to be more serious, but it’s great seeing the moments of levity between them.

The ending comes up so fast! An attempt at peace, a betrayal, and the beginning of war. And then we’re left with another cliffhanger!! I literally turned the page expecting more, and instead hit the Acknowledgements. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!

These books are seriously under hyped!! This story is the perfect continuation of this amazing series! The world building is so good and descriptive as we travel to new locations. I am so invested with these characters and their journey, and I cannot wait to see how it ends!! Definitely check this story out, especially if you love a Fae romantasy, a strong FMC, ancient artifacts, unique world-building, political intrigue, reluctant heroes, dark and brooding book BF, living parents, found family, magic and mayhem!

Oh, it is so good to return to the devastatingly beautiful & dangerous world of the Immortal Plane! Ever since I came across A.N. Horton and All That Falls, Book 1 in her Immortal Plane series, I knew I was here to stay.

I was honoured to receive the ARC of the second book, All That Soars, and let me tell you, I've devoured it. This series has never left my mind, not after that cliffhanger. I was counting the days until I immersed myself in the sequel, and it didn't disappoint. If anything, it was even better. Everything I loved in Book 1 was masterfully executed here, too—the writing style, the plot, the characters. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading; All That Soars is action-packed without losing sight of what makes it so perfect: the characters and their relationships.

The sequel continues where All That Fall ended, and we see the consequences of that devastating cliffhanger following Ren's (Serena's) plea and bargain.

"You know the rules. You know the risks. Your destiny is your own now, Serena Dawnpaw."

Ren is a prisoner in a folded cage in her mother's court, and now she gets to witness firsthand just how cruel her mother can be. Among all the chaos, Ren still manages to keep her head high, to try & master her magic, and to understand the consequences of her mother's actions. While Ren feels utterly alone, an unlikely friend will appear, and Ren must decide who to trust. Still, it is her connection to Lark that keeps her going. Just the emotions flowing through their bond, no matter how limited, were enough to make me tear up.

All That Soars was everything! I laughed, I cried tears of joy and sorrow, I was anxious, angry, sad, and it was all worth it. It was worth seeing the connections between people related not by blood but by true & pure love. Ren's found family is worth fighting for, and they keep proving that time after time. And then, Ren & Lark. The way they communicate, support, and heal each other, even when physically apart, is nothing short of a masterpiece. They are more than a bonded pair; they are each other's home and sanctuary.

All That Soars is set to be released in less than a month, on October 29th. This gives you ample time to immerse yourself in a world of love, loss, pain, betrayal, and devotion. And the best part? It's the perfect setup for the third and final book, which promises to be a mind-blowing conclusion to this captivating series.

All That Soars will gift you
- fantastic sequel to this romantasy trilogy
- intricate world-building
- kingdoms on the verge of war
- beautiful found family
- bonded pairs
- action-packed plot
- love, loss, and betrayals
- secrets & political intrigue
- the perfect setting for the third and final book
and a mind-blowing story to keep you awake at night!

Spoilers!!!

WOW......

That is the first word that comes to mind when sitting here staring at the last page of this book. This book was just amazing. Upon the first page of this second book we are immediately thrown into action that lasts for the whole duration of this book. When I say that there was never a dull moment, there was never a dull moment.

Some of the things that I really like about this book was the fact that we were taken into multiple territories, even if only for a little bit, and where able to explore them, see how they looked, and learn on a base level how the power structure worked in that particular court. As someone who is a die hard fan of ACOTAR, I absolutely love courts that have different ecosystems and structure. I also loved the expansion of the character list. We had so many new characters introduced in this book both on a base level but also in a way where some of them had complicated back stories that played into the overall plot. Lastly what I loved about this book was just the plot itself. The plot of this book was a chef's kiss. We had the continuation of the plot/turmoil from book one, then we had the intricate multi-layered plots that were added to the story as well such as Rook and Cass's relationship, Irim's backstory/growth/deception, past histories of courts, and many more that were added into this story. The plot simply kept you on your toes the whole time and led to a read that I could not put down.

Overall, I believe that this was a wonderful second book of the series. It not only did everything that a second book needs to do, but it did so much more. I highly recommend this book and this series to anyone looking for a fun fantasy/romantasy read!!

Really enjoyed this, devoured it! I couldn’t for the life of me remember the first book and who the key players were, I would have appreciated a little reminder of where we were or even a guide at the beginning as a reminder of the court system/who the main people are we’ve met. It took me almost halfway through the book to remember who Gemini was! So the book picks up exactly where book one left off. The good news is that bits and pieces came to me as I kept reading, and I was able to read the book without being confused or detracted at all from the enjoyment. The story is original, it’s such a cool concept. This book leads to war between the different fae courts, with the FMC’s mother leading the bad side, in an attempt to rule or destroy the mortal realm. Our heroes are playing politics, trying to get courts to align with theirs, in an attempt to block the bad guys. The book spends some time with the FMC trapped at her mother’s court, we see the terrible person the mother is, and I really got into it once the FMC reunited with her soul mate and found family. Then the book really picked up and got so exciting! There are twists and turns, betrayals I did NOT see coming - I am shocked! The final 20% of the book felt a little rushed, a LOT happens, damn. And of course, we end on a cliffhanger and now I’m dying to read the third book. Overall, this was a real page turner, I enjoyed it a lot, I like the characters, and the author’s writing style.

“I find that beautiful things thrive most in the midst of a storm”

First of all, I’d like to thank A. N. Horton for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved the first book in the series and I was dying to read the sequel - and it did not disappoint! It had everything I loved about the first book - a feisty FMC, a broody and protective MMC, incredibly lovable side characters (Cass and Rook will always have my heart) - and more!

We follow Ren as she learns more about her mother’s viciousness, her father’s kindness, her new world, her powers and, more importantly, herself. I especially enjoyed the trips to the different courts - this is one of those fictional worlds that you will want to visit.

The story is a bit slow-paced, but I actually enjoyed that as it allows us to truly connect with the characters, it feels like we’re reading about our friends. And the slow-burn romance between Ren and Lark is just beautiful. It’s impossible not to swoon over Lark.

Overall, if you love fated mates, found family, court politics and powerful fae, read All That Soars. It is out on 29th October

YOU ARE MISSING OUT IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS SERIES!!

SPEECHLESS. I have no words. The story of Ren and Lark is already one of my favorites. I cannot put into words how much I love the way this author writes. It’s so rare that I can feel the connection and the chemistry between characters and A.N. Horton does this so beautifully that every page just comes to life. The amount of depth and detail that was put into the world of Ren and Lark was ✨ chef’s kiss✨

Okay enough about the author, let’s talk about this betrayal! Like WHAT! I did not see that coming and I need a moment to process…and then Cass?! Sweet, sweet Cass…her heart and her ambitions have my heart in a gridlock. I cannot get enough of her!

There is nothing better than a FMC with a brain. Following Ren through all her goals and challenges has been incredible. The way she uses her academic side is such a change of pace compared to the normal FMC. And Lark? Swoon! The shadow daddy I never knew I needed.

I am anxiously waiting for the next book!!🖤🖤

𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜: 🌶🌶🌶

I really enjoyed getting back to this story, and finding out what happened after book one.

I loved how Ren, the FMC, forged a connection with her father, and how she stood firm against her mother, all while trying to grow her magic and train her mind.

It took a little while, but I was so happy when Ren and Lark, the MMC, reunited! Even though they didn't have as much time together in this book, which I really missed, I adored all of their banter and interactions.

I didn't feel like I connected to the characters as well as I did in book one, but I'm not sure why.

I did however, enjoy the found family aspect, as it is always a favourite of mine, and this book delivered.

The little plot twists and puzzle pieces were well done, as was the cliffhanger ending; I'm hanging for the next book!

Ren is in the home of the enemy. Even though that enemy calls her family. Her and Ariadne will never see eye to eye and it’s simply a matter of who will break under the tension first. But when tricky wording comes into play, Ren finds the loophole she needs.
Will she make it back to her true family? Or will she be shrouded in the gaudy brown walls of the Court of Pride forever?

Stunning as always!

I loved watching Ren learn more about her powers and be able to keep up in the political sphere with the rest of her court.

Also, is it wrong that I’m kind rooting for Quinn and his mom to die because I am fully in support of Cass being with another certain Bone Court representative????? Goodness I hope they figure that all out…

Honestly also hope the Court of Pride gets what is coming to them after all the drama they caused.

Oh my gosh this book!

Crazy mother who has horrible ideas for the future, Ren’s father still there and does what he can to help his only daughter. Meet a cousin who helps you through the hardest times while forced to stay in her mother court.

Later Ren is reunited with her bonded Lark and the rest of her friends. But she’s a little different than they remember her. Working together to bring the lesser courts to their side should a war break out almost seems impossible…

Ren and Lark finally get to be together 😉 but I give it a 1 🌶️ cause it could have been better after the build up. That aside loved this book!

The betrayal later on killed me! I wanted so bad to love the character and then omg the ending….. I need book 3 already!!!! Cannot wait!

Oh she done it again!!!!! That betrayal at the end! Ugh!!! Did I expect it? No, but that ending though. I need book 3, I need it now and I must know what happens to Ren and everyone else. This book has so much more action then the first. You learn so much about every court, how far Ariadne will go, and so much more. I'm not going to say too much because this book was just mind-blowing. I literally cannot wait to see how it ends in book three, because book three I know is going to be so much more! This book just keeps you entertained and you won't want to put it down. If you are looking for a book about fae, ancient gods, and the way someone will go for so much power. This is the book. Read it!!!

Does this all mean that Ren is now 100% Fae? Kind of confusing with all this news, but I'm loving the Immortal Plane series. Adriane is just a narcissist. I just hope she doesn't destroy the bond between Ren and her father. I'm all for the female hero who doesn't need saving. Good to know that Ren is coming into her own and working with her power.

Uuuh what to say about Irim ... I mean he helped Ren in her dificult time while she was in prison in her own court, so I think I can overlook it for now.

Speaking of Bonded... they finally did it.

The end of the book was just epic in my opinion.

This one brings us back to the world of Ren, our strong, smart (Astrophysicist), half fae FMC. Her decisions made aren't too bad this time around. She's growing. Her many facets and how she handles her concerns and actions are very relatable.

There are parts that are slower this time around, but the action and fight scenes make up for those lulls. You won't be disappointed. Ren and Lark's relationship also ramps up a little in this one. Their Rollercoaster of emotions throughout the entirety of the book makes you want to turn that page.

The end chapters and that cliffhanger. Gives you just enough to make you want to come back and finish this adventure off. Great middle.

What a ride! Again, another well done installment in the Immortal Plane Series!

Ren learns even more about the horrible person her mother has become and she even starts forming relationships with family that she didn’t even know she had until recently. Of course her and Lark’s relationship deepens and I can’t wait to see them hopefully get a peaceful HEA.

Getting to visit courts we didn’t see in book 1 and meeting some new faces made it so much better! Be prepared for betrayals of epic proportions and of course a cliffhanger…I’ll be over here impatiently waiting for book 3 😂.

OMG she did it again! A.N. Horton, thank you so much for letting me read this book in preparation for it's release.

All That Soars was another well written story that picks up where All That Falls left off. I loved the growth in Ren & Lark's relationship and how Ren plays a vital part in the plans to bring peace to the world.

What an amazing sequel to all that falls!! First of all, we got SPICE!!! I was waiting for it and felt that romantic relationship building in this book and was so excited when we finally got to see Lark and Seren romantic together ❤️❤️ also loved how more of the political drama built between the minor and major courts. We got much more understanding of what and WHO Serena mom is - a true villain in this story! I love this series and I can’t wait for the third book!

That 👏 ending 👏 ahhhhhh. I remember reading book one and needing book two straight away!!! But after finishing book two, and being left on the biggest cliffhanger EVERRRRR, I need the next book like I need air. I loved the action, the character development, our feisty FMC is becoming more confident and powerful, there’s more magic and war! I feel like the book travelled a little slower than the first book but it’s the perfect lead up to an epic third book in the series!! Amazing work Horton!!

Such a great continuation of the series! I laughed, I cried. It definitely takes you on an emotionally wrought journey. I'm so excited to continue this series. A.N. Horton weaves a tale that leaves you guessing. I'm really enjoying Ren's development of becoming her own person, and choosing what she wants. Lark is maybe the best MMC ever?? 😍 This is an amazing series. Can't wait to see where it goes.

This series is a rollercoaster and I love it! I am hooked on this world and these characters. I thought the first book in this series was good, but this one - I didn't put this book down. I couldn't. I don't write spoilers or details in my reviews, so apologies for not explaining why I loved it - just trust me and read it yourself. Now I have to wait patiently for the next one.

This is the 2nd book in this series and it’s still amazing! The characters are so easy to connect with. The FMC is a smart academic badass that is willing to sacrifice herself to save her friends/found family. This is paced perfectly throughout and the plot twist and cliff hanger had me stunned. I immediately started the 3rd one.

I don't even know where to start. You think you can trust someone then they crush you. Ariadne is beyond evil incarnate. I can't imagine how in the world they can ever defeat her. This series is certainly a wild ride and I'm here for it!

Absolutely loving this series so far. Both books have definitely had me shocked with how they ended and anxious to know what’s going to happen next! Definitely not much spice but still loving the relationship and found family part of this book too! Also, THE BETRAYAL! 😭

Ren goes though so much and is able to grow in this story. Cass and Rook are some of the best secondary characters. The betrayals in this book had be gasping I wasn't ready. I can't wait for book 3 to come out in February.
