Wunduria is a relic lost in a hidden island protected by the seas. But things are changing. Haven June, a young shepherd living in peace, is confronted by an old sage named Jehu, who introduces him to six young warriors, including a cunning Buccaneer. Together, they set out on a perilous quest spanning great distances to defend their island home from the prehistoric threat, Snarlag. These young heroes must grow up fast to save their beloved Wunduria from destruction.
Allen reached out to me right at the beginning of my booksta journey and asked for me to read his book!! I was so intrigued by the synopsis and can tell that Allen worked so hard on this gorgeous book! Sons of Wundria is an epic adventure filled with lush world building, a quest to save the land, and has strong themes of courage and friendship! If you are a fan of the hobbit and clean fantasy this introduction into Allen's fantastical world is for you!! We follow Haven, the kings shepherd turned strong leader, as he joins a group of boys from all across Wunduria to go defeat a powerful threat. I really enjoyed the fact that we get to meet each of the boys and understand what they bring to the table as the journey begins. There's Lunar- from the forest of white trees, Ruddy- a feral boy raised alone in the woods, and five others who each bring something unique to the tale!! They journey long and encounter many foe, and friends, along the way. The fight scenes are laid out well, and I really enjoyed how people from all across the land came together to fight for their home in the end! The world building was fantastic!! There was quite a twist in the epilogue, so I know we are in for more adventures! Thank you so much Joshua Allen for sending me a copy to read and review!
This was an adventure that I was honestly sad to end!! I will admit this book is completely different than my usual reads AND I LOVED IT!!!
Seven boys (with quite frankly nothing in common) are chosen to save their home by defeating a great terrifying evil that destroys anything in her path. Haven, Sven (my favorite), Lunar, Epoch, Ruddy, Akimu & Bluff must prove their perseverance and work together as a team (even though they are practically strangers) to defeat Snarlag.
The world building is spectacular! The art in the physical book is perfection! And the story line seriously there were moments of complete devastation & there were moments I felt so much pride for these young men.
If you love YA or if you have a young man/woman in your family that loves to read and lovessss an adventure, I highly recommend this book!
This is a genre I don’t normally read, but decided to give it a try and support new aspiring authors. Let me tell you, from the very beginning I was enthralled. The way Joshua Allen described every detail made me feel part of the adventure. While enjoying the journey of the seven, I kept repeating to myself that this is a saga that needs to be on tv. The ending almost made me throw the kindle against the wall as I had my suspicions, but discarded them after their victory. Can’t wait for the second book! Congratulations Mr. Allen, you have opened a new World for me to explore!
A fast-paced and engaging fantasy novel that brims with bravado and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book. The characters are expertly crafted, each with their own distinct personality. The witty banter is fantastic, and the world-building is impressive. The story is wonderfully rich, and I couldn't get enough of it.
