“Gods above, I know I am a monster, but I am your monster.”

Thea has survived the deadly trials and narrowly escaped heartbreak, but now she faces her greatest challenge—breaking her curse and finding her place in Cerithia. Haunted by Cassius’ betrayal and the loss of her friends in Exile, she struggles to reclaim her identity in a kingdom that feels foreign.
Cassius, once her most trusted ally and the man she loved, shattered her trust with a betrayal so profound it left her questioning everything. His deceit cut deep, igniting a darkness within her that craves vengeance—not only against her enemies but against Cassius himself.
As the urgency to break her curse grows, Thea is consumed by the mystery surrounding Cassius’ lies. Just when she thinks she knows the truth, it unravels, replaced by more questions than answers. With each passing day, she slips further into darkness, her thirst for revenge threatening to eclipse her very sense of self.
With her prophecy looming and the fate of Elloryon hanging in the balance, Thea must decide who, if anyone, she can trust. To break the curse and save the realm, she must embrace her inner power and confront the man who betrayed her—Cassius.

Heartbreaking. Distressing. Frustrating. Agonizing.

That’s it. That’s the review.

Shay Taylor. You are fantastic.

I’m ready for Thea to get the justice she deserves in Book Three!

After arc reading Secrets & Curses of Exile I was so happy to get to arc read this book as well.

After rereading book 1 these past few days, I started reading book 2 (this book) yesterday evening and finished this morning (yes I pulled an all nighter to read this book). Whereas the first book confused me to the point of feeling like I was going insane, book 2 finally had the answers I desperately wanted. I felt all the emotions while reading it, and then I got to the ending… I’m heartbroken and need book 3 now…

I don’t think there’s been a book (series) that had me feeling as much as these 2 books did. It’s so well written and the plots are so good! I can’t wait to see what book 3 is gonna bring.

“You told me you were a monster.”
“Never to you.”

“Come home with me; fight with me there. Yell at me, hurt me, hate me, but do it in our home,”

“I love it when you pretend to hate me, little viper; it only makes this more fun for me.”

“I have never been your villain. Gods above, I know I am a monster, but I am your monster.”

Let me start this by saying this was graciously given to me as an ARC and I’m so thankful I was able to read this early🫶

For the positives- Cassius is back babbbbyyyyy the banter and male yearning is spot on once again. I ate it up like a 5 course meal.
Thea is still a badass but less physically and more an emotional badass- iykyk.
The development of more of the characters really soothed my soul and made me want to die all at the same time, redemption for some and the downfall of others.

For the negatives- I don’t have many but I have to address the almost direct ACOTAR rip off scene.

The FMC is in a large poofy shouldered wedding dress she hates, at the alter ( a rehearsal but you get it) hoping the “villain” comes and saves her, and when he does he makes a deal to have her spend time in enemy territory for 2 months. And while she’s there she’s horribly depressed because of the way the man before treated her? I fully understand every story has been written and they’re all spin offs of one another but this is such a direct take it hurt my soul a bit. I can allow it (though it’s 99% of the reason for the .5 star deduction) for only the fact I 1. Love ACOTAR and 2. It was one chapter, and the rest of the story is quite original.

My only other irk with this book is the beginning felt a little out of place and repetitive for Thea. She’s such a strong headed badass in the first book and while I fully understand what Cassius says to her at the end of book 1, she ends up in circles with the “can I trust him” and “my dad is mean to me” narrative. After about 15% of the way through it develops more into a complex plot but the first 80 pages were a tad tough to get through compared to the first book.

I’m still so absolutely enthralled with this series and will with out a doubt be continuing it and following the author along her writing journey as these books are top tier.

We pick up where book 1 left off, Thea is adjusting to her life in Cerithia. The longer she is there, the more she realises how badly everyone in Cerithia treats her.
Her own father, step-mum & step-sisters are absolutely horrible to her, blaming it on Thea and that she previously chose Crimson over Cerithia.
Thea starts having some memories of Cassius, only adding more to her confusion and conflicting feelings.
As time goes on, and the more Thea learns, the more she realises just how many people are manipulating, lying and using her for their own gain.. but also that some people are wanting to set her free. As Thea does her best to try and fit all the pieces together, will she make the right choice?

I read this book in 2 days, I couldn’t put it down as it had me in a complete chokehold.
I absolutely love Shay’s writing style and feel her books flow perfectly and are so easy to follow.
The world building is incredible, you feel as though you are there with the characters and going along for the ride.
The magic system is so easy to understand, which makes this perfect for people who are new to fantasy.

The storyline had me hooked and I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever felt so anxious reading a book! I was constantly on edge during this book with no idea where the book was going to go.
I went through so many emotions in this book, I was angry, upset, sad, scared, anxious, worried, broken, happy, in love.. absolutely all the emotions were pulled through this book and I don’t think I’ve ever been so emotionally invested in a story.

Thea genuinely broke my heart, she deserves so much better than the world and life she has to live, no one deserves to feel unwanted, and this truly made me sad for her.
Cassius basically lives a life of torture, constantly having to witness the one he loves not know him. He is an amazing MMC and I just love him so much!
These two deserve so much better and my heart constantly breaks for them. They are just the absolute sweetest together 🥹

I love all the other characters in the books and their stories, especially Leer & Della! Hopefully we hear more about Della & Haden in book 3, or maybe even their own book 👀

I didn’t realise there was going to be a third book, so I was thinking the ending was going one way, but then it went another and completely broke my heart 😩
I don’t feel ok, I don’t think I will feel ok for a while 😅 my little heart just hurts so much 🥺
This just shows how much of an amazing job the author has done, when it has caused such an emotional response 🖤 and even though I’ve not forgiven the emotional trauma I have suffered, I do applaud you 👏🏼

Thank you so much Shay for allowing me the opportunity to be an arc reader 🫶🏼
Now I just have to (im)patiently wait for the 27th to get a physical copy 🙈🖤

Just going to start out by saying this very important fact. FUCK YOU Jesper.

Otherwise, I absolutely loved this book, but MAN the heartache Thea had to go through throughout this book was just plain cruel. Just when you think she’s finally going to get what she needs and fully deserves assholes have to pop up and ruin it. I also absolutely hate Gwyn. She can just die already.

This book had so much more detail and bringing the puzzle together and it made the story even more fascinating. Finally learning about the curse and how it came to be really helped me understand the struggles Thea and even Cassius have to go through. I thought I loved the first book, but I love the second one even more.

Here’s to hoping Thea gets what she deserves in the next book and kills the shit out of everyone who has been in her way. Make it rain Crimson!

100/10 stars for this one!

I do not know if this book is my favorite or the first. I just loved this! The heart ache my girl Thea felt the whole book and so close to getting her happily ever after just for it to be taken away broke my heart! She deserves the world. And the way Cassius loves her so much even when she thinks he doesn’t love her and he’s just trying to fight for her. Thea went through A LOT this book and I can only hope book three she finally gets the revenge she deserves and the love she’s always wanted. And I just really hate her father and Jesper so much! Cannot wait to read the third book!

That ending 😭😭 I need book 3 ASAP. What an emotional rollercoaster. At times I was soooo frustrated with Thea but when everything came together towards the end it made it that much more painful. I can’t wait to see how book 3 unfolds and finishes Thea and Cassius’s story.

This book did not hold back and I had to forcefully put it down to go to bed at night. The hate, sadness and confusion Thea felt was so intense, and she deserves all the revenge for how she was treated in here. I wanted to pull her out of those pages and take revenge on all for her! I couldn’t believe how her real family was and treated her. That being said, I had moments I was so angry with her for the decisions she made. I wanted to yell at her, especially to hear him out! Finally after 80% of the book did she get somewhere and I was so happy and excited for how it would end… NOPE. Shay had to throw in there a massive twist and stab me in the heart! I need book 3 ASAP!

"Secrets & Curses of Cerithia" by Shay Taylor

"Secrets & Curses of Cerithia" by Shay Taylor weaves a spellbinding tale of love, betrayal, and redemption. Set in a richly crafted world, this dark fantasy takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster as the protagonist, Thea, navigates the complexities of her relationships and the scars of her past. At the heart of the story is the love story between Thea and Cassius, a relationship fraught with manipulation and longing, but ultimately pivotal to the unraveling of the plot.

Thea and Cassius: A Love Stained by Betrayal
The love story between Thea and Cassius is one of the novel’s most captivating elements. Their relationship is steeped in intense emotion—love, desire, betrayal, and power all swirl together in a potent mix. Taylor masterfully captures the dark, alluring nature of their connection. Cassius is not your typical romantic hero; his love for Thea is twisted by ambition and control, but beneath the surface, there are hints of genuine feeling that keep Thea, and the readers, tethered to him.

As Thea grapples with the betrayal that shattered her trust, she is left questioning what was real and what was merely manipulation. The blood bond between them, both a curse and a reminder of their connection, adds a layer of complexity to their relationship. Despite her desire for vengeance, Thea is unable to fully sever her emotional ties to Cassius, which makes their dynamic even more powerful. Their love is both destructive and passionate, a force that drives much of the novel’s tension.

What makes this love story so compelling is how Shay Taylor explores the gray areas of affection, loyalty, and control. Cassius, though manipulative, is portrayed with enough depth to make readers feel conflicted about him. Thea’s internal battle between the love she once felt and the rage that now consumes her adds layers of emotional tension to the story, making their relationship one of the most engaging aspects of the novel.

Her Father's Betrayal: A Painful Revelation
While Thea’s love for Cassius is at the center of her emotional journey, it’s the betrayal by her father that adds another level of heartache. Thea discovers that her father had used her as a pawn, sending her into the arms of Cassius with the intent of gathering intelligence and ultimately killing him. This revelation is devastating, as it turns Thea’s entire world upside down. She realizes that not only was she betrayed by the man she loved, but also by the very person who was supposed to protect her.

Thea’s father’s betrayal is a turning point in the novel, one that forces her to confront the layers of manipulation and deceit in her life. The coldness with which he admits to using her for his own gain shatters any lingering illusions Thea had about family loyalty. Taylor does a remarkable job of portraying the emotional fallout from this revelation. Thea’s pain is palpable, and her struggle to reconcile with this new reality makes her journey all the more heartbreaking and empowering.

This betrayal also plays a crucial role in driving the plot forward, as it forces Thea to take control of her destiny. No longer the pawn of others, Thea begins to reclaim her power and seek answers for herself. This moment of self-realization is beautifully handled by Taylor, who uses it to deepen Thea’s character and set her on a path toward redemption and healing.

Piecing it All Together: The Beauty of Revelation
One of the most satisfying aspects of "Secrets & Curses of Cerithia" is how all the pieces fall into place by the end of the novel. Taylor skillfully weaves together the various plot threads, ensuring that the mysteries surrounding Thea’s past, her relationship with Cassius, and the political intrigue of Cerithia come to a satisfying conclusion.

Thea’s journey is not just one of revenge but also of discovery. As she uncovers the truths about her family, her past, and the true nature of her connection to Cassius, the plot clicks into place with a sense of inevitability that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. Taylor’s ability to slowly unravel the story while keeping readers on edge is a testament to her storytelling skill.

The revelations about the blood bond, Cassius’ curse, and Thea’s true role in the grander scheme of things all come together in a way that feels both earned and deeply satisfying. The final act of the novel is a beautiful crescendo of action, emotion, and resolution, leaving readers with a sense of closure while still pondering the complexity of Thea’s relationships and her future.

Shay Taylor’s Writing Style: A Masterpiece of Dark Fantasy
Shay Taylor’s writing is nothing short of mesmerizing. Her prose is lyrical and evocative, capturing the darkness and beauty of Cerithia in vivid detail. From the blood-soaked forests to the cold, distant walls of the castle, Taylor’s descriptions pull readers into the world she has created, making it feel both fantastical and real.

Her greatest strength, however, lies in her ability to convey emotion. Taylor expertly portrays Thea’s inner turmoil, the weight of her trauma, and the fierce love and hatred that drive her. The dialogue is sharp and full of tension, while the introspective moments allow readers to fully immerse themselves in Thea’s thoughts and feelings.

The pacing of the novel is also well-executed, with the right balance of action, intrigue, and emotional beats. Taylor’s ability to bring all the story’s elements together in the end, creating a seamless and satisfying conclusion, is a testament to her skill as a storyteller.

Conclusion
"Secrets & Curses of Cerithia" is a beautifully written, emotionally charged tale that explores the complexities of love, trust, and betrayal. The relationship between Thea and Cassius is a highlight, full of intensity and emotional depth, while Thea’s journey toward self-discovery and healing is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Shay Taylor’s masterful writing, combined with the intricate plotting and the emotional weight of the story, makes this novel a must-read for fans of dark fantasy.

”Why can’t I just hate you? I don’t want the pain of loving you anymore.”

”They created me to love you, and I intend to do that whether you love me back or not.”

I’m rating this book the same as I rated the first book, 4.5 ⭐️. The plot and twists are hooking, and I can’t help but keep turning the pages. This book picks right up from the cliffhanger the first book, Secrets & Curses of Exile, left off. After an assumed betrayal from her love, Cassius, Thea is starting over with her family in the Kingdom of Cerithia, but is this where she’s supposed to be? She has no real answers, thus she must ask the right questions, befriend the right people and be in the right places in order to start putting the pieces back together.

Thea gives me WHIPLASH. I truly think, due to the plot, that the author writes her character and her actions in the most frustrating of ways so we feel what she’s feeling. Thea is cursed to lose her memories every time she dies, and only she can choose her path each time she is reborn.

Cassius has loved her and lost her through 6 of her lifetimes, and each time he has to fight to win her love back again and convince her of his loyalty to her. In his home, the Kingdom of Crimson, he’s forced to have to make decisions that hurt him in order to help her regain her memories the best he can. You can truly feel his longing and pain, and the tension this creates throughout the book.

These two are fated, and the end of this book leaves me scratching at the walls for the next book, which will be the conclusion of this trilogy.

Do I think these books could use some editing to make the read a bit more cohesive? Yes. BUT, I’m engaged by the gripping plot and it’s a more unique fantasy compared to the ones I’ve read. I’m invested in the story and I fly through the pages. I think an editor, or a better editor, could really take these books far. This is the author’s first and second books, so I can’t even imagine how far she will go. These books have actually been some of my favorite fantasy reads this year.

Thank you to the author, Shay Taylor, for the ARC. It was much enjoyed! I cannot wait for the concluding book! Hopefully we get some resolution and plot holes filled in!

I’m trying to keep this spoiler free for anyone who wants to read this fantastic series.

Well, this book seems to never have a dull moment, the action, betrayal and sharp turns made for such a good read! The storyline continues how book one finished off, with Thea returning to her life within Cerithia. Thea thankfully starts to have a few of her lost memories drip through of her life before she was placed in exile, which I’m so glad of, as this book pieced together some of the missing answers to questions which had been plaguing me since then ending of book one. I felt like it kept pulling me both ways, as I’d get answers to my questions but then was left still questioning who to believe or trying to fill in the gaps of the missing memories.

We meet a couple of new characters along the way who tie up a few loose ends of the lost memories, and it was nice to see where they fit into the story. We of course have all the fabulous characters from the first book (my fave being Leer), however all is not who/what they seem with some characters, and I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing how it pans out for them in the end. This is a book of discovery, but also a hell of a road to recovery for Thea whilst she’s on her journey to solve the memories from the past. There still seems to be a fair amount to uncover within the third book in my opinion, but Shay unravels the story so well that I’m sure it’ll all be nicely tied off in the final book whilst still forever keeping us on the edge.

This book was so beautifully written by Shay that I was able to feel the emotions that Thea was going through. Whether that be anguish, pain or love it really did take me on a ride feeling them all, that it completely hooked me in again! As much as I love Thea, she did annoy me a little bit throughout as she kept saying that she wanted explanations of her life before, and why Cass did the things he did etc, but as soon as he started to explain why, she’d run off and then be super pissed off. It’s like girl I know you’ve got many issues with everything that you’ve been through in the past but just shush and let him explain before you go off in a huff. Although, saying that I do know why she acted the way she did as the poor girl went through a LOT of emotional, physical and mental trauma yet it still made me want to shake her for the choices she was making.

I didn’t realise that this set of books was actually going to be a trilogy until I had finished reading it. So, I got to the end expecting it to go a certain way and to be finished off with a nice bow, to then be met with another cliffhanger, anguish and even more questions that need answering in book three. Like thanks Shay, what a way to get my hopes up to then stab me right in the heart!! We need justice! 😉 I cannot wait to find out what happens in the final book as I’m really hoping that Thea gets everything she deserves, and she needs to make it rain CRIMSON!

This action-packed sequel to Secrets and Curses of Exile was full of twists at every turn.

Tropes: Enemies to lovers, he falls first, hidden magic, who did this to you, strong FMC, fated mates, prophecies fulfilled, memory loss

The book follows up with Thea’s revelation and betrayal from the Prince of Crimson at the end of the first book. Still missing many of her memories, Thea finds herself confused and conflicted upon her homecoming to Cerithia.

Throughout this book, we walk alongside Thea’s struggle with both her amnesia (although far from medically-induced) and mental health.

My heart broke for her at every revelation of betrayals and lies she learned along the way. Thea, however, is an incredibly strong character. Nothing keeps her down forever.

The romance was so refreshing and a unique twist. Fantasy books often deal with impossibly stacked odds against star-crossed lovers, but Thea’s struggles are definitely unique. How can you reconcile loving your murderer?

This was such a great book! I forced myself to slow down and savor Shay’s storytelling. It would have been incredibly easy to binge in one sitting.

I cannot wait to continue following Thea’s journey. I highly recommend this book to readers of fantasy romance who are looking for a fast-moving story full of twists and surprises, and a main character you desperately root for.

Thank you, Shay Taylor, for allowing me to read an advance copy of this incredible sequel.

One of my favorite parts of this series is that it keeps you on your toes! As soon as I thought I had things figured out from book one, Shay Taylor caught me by surprise. If you thought the ending to book one was bad— get ready for this one because I was completely gutted!

Thea is such a relatable character and I truly enjoyed reading a book where the main character wasn’t expected to be so hardcore and act as though nothing phased them despite everything that they have gone through. Thea truly goes through hell in this book and the author does an amazing job in creating realistic expectations of someone facing trauma. Speaking of… I cannot wait for the next book to see exactly how much she makes her abusers suffer!!

I do wish that we were able to see Thea use her powers more to her benefit. She has so many questions, and so many powers at her disposal and yet she never abuses her gift to gain any insight. She also does not train on quite a few of her gifts that would surely be an asset to her situation. Hopefully we get to witness more from her in book three!!

All in all, I am excited to continue reading this series and I am looking forward to witnessing Thea FINALLY break her curse! She deserves to live a long, happy, peaceful and full life.

Thea has finished her trails and after getting her heart broken by Cassius, Thea resides in the Kingdom of Cerithia with her father, the king. Still without her memories, Thea hopes that this is the family she always wanted. However, her hopes are squashed when she realizes she is treated similar to a servant and her family only wants her to do their bidding. So she throws herself into her job, Captain of the Cerithia armies. Training and missions during the day, sneaking around for secrets of her past at night.
Thea is trying to find a way and any semblance to her past. At every turn, ‘her family’ keeps beating her down. She is seen as only a weapon, a means for destruction, a way to crumple the other kingdoms with the power she possesses. Can she find the truth in time to save herself??
I had the privilege of being selected as an ARC read for book 2 and I cannot wait! For book 3. The relationship between Cassius & Thea 😘. I live for the banter and the fact that Cassius lets Thea hate him, only for a little while. He always tries to be there, no matter what. Through the ups and mostly downs that Thea went through, I was not prepared for the ending that ripped by heart out. I was screaming at the book! Please be warned of the emotional attachment and damage that will come.

O! My! God!

The second book in this series was rollercoaster of emotions. Thea is trying to make peace with the decision she made at the end of the first book. Her time back in Cerithia isn't the welcome she expected and it isn't the home she longed for. She finds herself missing Exile and the other Elite Fae that lived there. Her father isn't a loving father to her and the rest of her "family" treat her like trash. She isn't loved or wanted, but they still want her to stay in Cerithia and fight for them.
In her dreams she asks Cassius why he did what he did and said the things he said. There is no respons and Thea plots her revenge on Cassius and the pain he caused her that last time she saw him.

This book provided more backstory and answered questions i had after reading the first book. There were plot twists, political schemes and a lot of confusion. Thea discovers more and more about who she is and what her purpose is. It does take her a long time to choose the right person and to finally take her life back. She goes through a lot of pain, both physically as mentally, and i started really hating some of the characters. Again the ending had me staring at the wall, i NEED to read the last book in this series to find out how the story ends.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

After the ending of book 1, I have been waiting to find out what happens next.
We pick up pretty much straight from where we left off. We're now in Cerithia, and Thea is learning more about the kingdom she left behind. She's starting to uncover truths that we're hidden from her and is warring in her mind about what is truth and what is a lie. I loved how bad ass she was in the first half of the book, even at her downright evil parts. I hated how she started to let insignificant men overpower her. She's meant to be so powerful, and even as she started to suspect certain people, she still let them belittle and harm her.
I love that we got glimpses of her memories from before and seeing how in love her and Cassius were.
Thea was consistently referring to needing to know why he had killed her but yet constantly skirted around, actually letting him explain, which I understood but got a little repetitive when it constantly happened
Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing how the story ends in the next book, especially after yet another cliffhanger of an ending.

Thanks to shay for the arc of this book for my honest review ❤️

**There may be spoilers in this review**

I was so lucky to have received this as an ARC as I also read the first one as an ARC as well and loved it! This review should have been done a while ago, but life happened, and I'm doing it now as I just finished it!

Let me start by saying WOW!!! Shay knows how to write a book and keep you enthralled! This storyline has been one heck of a roller coaster, and once again, I need the next book to come out like yesterday!

The writing is so well done and makes you feel like you are there in the story with these characters. The last book left off on a cliffhanger, and this one is no different. Cassius is the man of everyone's dreams, and Thea is the perfect mate for him.

It's so heartbreaking knowing how the lives of these two keep getting torn apart and having to start back at square one for Thea while Cassius is left to live in hell to try and gain back her trust over so many years all for them to just be torn apart again!

I am greatful that Hayden was not the spy but Kace?! Ugh! Come on book 3!!!

My rating is actually 4.75 stars but Goodreads doesn't allow for partial stars!

So this is booked two in this trilogy and picks up where book one left off. We have curses, warring kingdoms, star cross lovers, and dictatorship kingdoms, now this book covers some things that may be triggering for some, these triggers can be found in the book so I won’t list them all, but we do have physical and mental abuse, torture, And some mental health issues such as PTSD, anxiety and depression, so please take this into consideration before reading because your mental health is important.

Shay has written another fantastic book, and my goodness does she know how to write a bad guy! And there are several that come to light as this story progresses. So our girl, Thea, still doesn’t have all her memories back but she does have more than she had in book one. We learn more about Thea‘s past and that of Cassius. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and plot twists, the ending means it’s all to play for in book 3!

This is another 4.75 star read for me and I cannot recommend it enough!

1 🌶️

I had the pleasure of reading the first ARC book in this series by Shay Taylor; and again reading the ARC copy of book 2.

The first book left me completely stunned and ready to dive into the second book looking for all the answers and boy did we get them!

I was hanging on to every word regarding Thea. She’s a badass FMC with the taste for vengeance, shadow & fire mommy, captivating me with why she was experiencing memory loss and how she ended up where she was at. I do find that the memory loss bit grew a little tiresome over time and I found it to become repetitive. I was hoping there would be some resolve regarding Thea & Cassius by book 2 and was left wanting. I trust Shay process and look forward to book 3 due out in December. Her writing is very unique and I haven’t read anything like her books before. The concept, depth, character development and the plot with twists and turns brilliant writing. I definitely recommend. She has chosen her side. To live a life of loneliness and uncertainty, unable to trust anyone. Never belonging. Never good enough. A monster.. Just when you think things are finally turning up Thea, the floor is ripped out from underneath her. Will she finally be able to overcome this curse once and for all? Will she get the retribution she deserves? Will she be able to save the ones she loves? Those who have given so much for her..

This is her debut series?! The character and world building is very well done. It's not shoved in your face to where you lose sight of the story, but you still get plenty to tie all the pieces together. If you are hesitant to start this series, know that I put down and stopped reading what is supposedly a very popular fantasy series(not going to name names... we're above that here)because I was so envolved in this story. I am ready to see what is to come in the next installment. She has a very bright literary career in store for her.

Even better than the first book! This story sure takes you on a rollercoaster ride! You get all the feels: happy, angry, heartbroken, elated, giddy, you name it!

I loved being able to explore more of Thea’s curse in this book and just the whole background. I’m glad we learned information through a variety of different ways: Thea herself, other characters, dreams, etc. it prevented it from being just an info dump all at once.

Cassius is just, I love this man ❤️ He can be making Thea swoon over him one minute and want to kill him the next, and let’s be honest, that is how all our true loves are for us. lol.

Kicked up the spice in this installment as well, which I was happy to read. And it was called for with Thea and Cassius really reconnecting in this story.

I’m glad I didn’t find this series until book 3 has already been out because I would be DYING if I had to wait for it!

I SWEAR ON MY LIFE, IF THIS SERIES KEEPS RIPPING MY HEART OUT, I’M CHANGING MY RATINGS 😂

On a serious note though, I can’t stop reading this series!!! It’s so good!! SO GOOD!!!

Absolutely obsessed with all of this so far. You can’t change my mind. I felt all the emotions in this book. I won’t share any spoilers but the one thing I’ll drop is that I got so ticked off at Thea for still believing the lies but then I was like well, every single person has lied to her so I guess I wouldn’t be able to trust anyone either. 💁🏼‍♀️

I’m loving this whole story. It’s completely different than anything I’ve read and I’m here for it. I have to know what’s going to happen next. Thea’s and Cassius’ journey has been a roller coaster but the things we find out in this book had me panicking but then kicking my feet like a school girl. I’m getting more attached to other characters and it’s only book 2.

Immediately picked up book 3 💁🏼‍♀️😂🫶🏼

My heart will not be the same until book 3 comes out!! I loved book 1 but THIS BOOK absolutely gutted me. Romantasy with star crossed lovers, a hidden curse, memory loss and a total "don't trust anyone" package!

This story was heartbreaking, soul-crushing, and I felt so much hatred/sadness throughout the reading! Cassius has my heart and I can not imagine the pain that man has endured. Thea, THEA!!! The girl is put through pure physical, mental and emotional torture 90% of the book! I could not imagine how alone she felt, not being able to trust anyone around her OR her own mind. The storyline grew so much in this book and we get several answers but DANG IT! The ending nearly killed me.

Cliffhanger is putting it mildly. I feel like my heart was ripped out, stomped on, then put in a box to wait until December to open...I am not ok!

Also, if Jesper and Gwyn do not get horrific endings I will revolt...

Shay did it again with another amazing book! I have been blessed to get to ARC read both of the book for this series and I just pray that I am lucky enough to get the third as well. This series is amazing! The wrath of Thea is almost terrifying in the beginning. I don't do spoilers or hints at what happens in reviews but just know that not only is there a fantastic plot, and world building but the FMC is absolutely BADASS!!
The only thing I would like to be different with this book (and the last to be honest) would be the freaking cliffhangers!!! They are amazing don't get me wrong I just wish the book could go on and on and on.
Seriously Shay we NEED the third book already....like yesterday!!

Having been left in eager anticipation by the first book, I approached the sequel with high hopes, and I am delighted to report that it did not disappoint. The author adeptly expands the narrative, weaving intricate plot developments that enhance the story while preserving the original’s allure. The characters, beautifully rendered with remarkable depth and authenticity, continue to evolve in ways that are both compelling and poignant. Their journeys resonate deeply, further enriching the tapestry of the narrative. I find myself now not only satisfied but also fervently awaiting the third installment, eager to see how these intricately crafted characters will navigate the challenges that lie ahead

The first book left me in tears but this one has left me in shambles. What a series! I could not put the book down for a second. There were times were I found Thea to be quite needy but it does make you understand and relate to her. I love Thea, she is a powerful woman who has been through a lot of turmoil and her life is not easy. I found the magic to be better in this book where as the first one it was more of an introduction to elite magic, however in book 2 it dove deeper and gave the readers a better glimpse into Thea's power and mind . I don't want to say more because I do not want to give away the awe's and ahh's of the story. I simply cannot wait for book 3 to come out and see how it will all end. Fingers crossed not needing as much tissue paper as I did in book 1 and book 2!

This is book 2 arc review.

I love this series so much. Book 1 was amazing as well. There is so much drama and witty banter between the characters. You definitely draw a line between kingdoms. The mfc Thea is just the badass lead you want. Let's not forget the mmc Cassius!!! What a freaking dark hunk. I quote, " Because I am a moth, and you are my flame. I can not stay away"!!!!! Every girl's dream response! There is some spice, abuse, and the most felt heartbreak you can ever imagine. Please check trigger warnings. You will find yourself yelling at the book. If you like fansty, add this book to your list. I can not wait to see what book 3 brings.......

Shay,
Thank you for giving me the chance to arc read book 1 and 2. You are amazing.

I almost threw my Kindle across the room!! After finishing Secrets of Curses and Exile, I immediately downloaded this book because I NEEDED answers. Well I got the answers and now my heart is so full but also crying 😭😭

Book 2 follows Thea as she tries to remember more of her memories and work through all the confusion, lies, and secrets that surround her, her family, and Cassius.

The ending had me gasping and crying at the same time. I felt like I was right there with Thea as her entire life turns upside down...again. This book has the unreliable narrator trope but it's written so well due to the mystery and curse that surrounds the FMC.

I was crushed when I saw book 3 releases in 4 days. I need to know more asap, but I will be impatiently waiting!!
