Opposites attract in this modern-day fairytale when American, Sophie MacKnight, inherits a Scottish castle along with a hot grumpy Scotsman who is tasked with training her to be a magickal knight before the Kelpies wreak havoc on the people of Loren Brae.
The knight was supposed to be a man.
Not me, Sophie MacKnight, a marketing associate from California.
This must be a practical joke that the Scots play on visiting Americans. Because otherwise I’ve inherited a haunted castle in Scotland, along with one irritatingly sexy Scotsman, who would be delighted if I turned tail and ran.
Frankly, I thought I would fly here, sell the heap of bricks, and head back home to a life that I…well, I was comfortable with at the very least. Instead, the people of Loren Brae are in trouble, and it appears that as the new owner of the castle, I’m next in line to reinstate the magickal Order of Caledonia. Which means, first, I have to learn to believe in magick. And secondly, I have to train to become a knight.
And my trainer? None other than Lachlan Campbell, the grumpiest man I’ve ever had the annoyance of meeting. It’s a toss-up who is pricklier, Lachlan, or his kilted Chihuahua, Sir Buster. Not only does Lachlan think that I can’t hack it, but he also resents my claim on his castle.
If only he didn’t look so devastatingly hot in his kilt.
Now, I’m stuck proving myself to him, all while trying to figure out how to help my new friends in Loren Brae.
Sparks fly as our swords meet, and we battle our rising attraction for each other.
Who will win in this (Highland) game of love?

This just isn't hitting right and I can't quite explain why. It doesn't help that the MMC's voice is reminding me of Shrek and the gay best friend's voice sounds like he is trying to seduce the FMC occasionally hahaha but also feels like his character might turn into a cliché which ugh.
Sweet book that is an easy read and listen. Simple and cute this is a great night time listen and read. It does have a miscommunication trope so if you don’t like those this is not the read for you.
Wild Scottish Knight by Tricia O'Malley is a fantastic read that takes you on a journey through the beautiful landscapes of Scotland. The book mixes romance, adventure, and a bit of magic, making it hard to put down.
*The Wild Scottish Knight* in Graphic Audio format is an absolute masterpiece! It offers an immersive and enthralling experience that goes beyond traditional audiobooks. It is narrated an incredibly talented cast of voice actors who bring each character to life.
All of the characters, but especially the MCs Sophie annd Lachlan, are well-developed and relatable. The connection between the MCs is strong, making their story heartwarming and exciting. O'Malley's writing brings Scotland to life with vivid details, almost making you feel like you're there.
The plot moves at a good pace with surprises that keep you engaged until the end. If you enjoy romance, adventure, or just want to escape into a well-crafted world, Wild Scottish Knight is a must-read. It's a memorable story that stays with you long after you finish it.
Netflix? Prime? Where are you guys at?! Bring this amazing series to the screen!!
This is the first book that I've ever listened to on any app. I did try it twice before and hated it. It was distracting, made it hard to get into the story and I quickly lost interest in the book that I wanted to read so much !!! Not so, with this book. Why?
The people were SO interesting, read with good cheerful, expressive voices. Making it impossible to lose the thread or my place in the reading of it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The grumpy chihuahua was a delight in all his ways even in his small kilt !!!
Sophie McKnight was a Delight ! I think this is my title now !!! Her accent, her voice expressions,my ability to relate to her so easily ! And her off and on romance with Lachlan Campbell, Moody man? Yes, also a delight in his accent and his unusual ways !
All of the other supporting characters were a delight as well. Sophie unusual close man friend was funny but also smart. And it was easy to "see" that !!
All in all a winner! And it made me want to read more about Sophie and Ireland and of course how things go with Sophie and Lachlan Campbell.
The full cast narration / dramatization is charming as always.
Sophie McKnight is organized, a marketing guru and loves spreadsheets. Lachlan Campbell, manages the castle and all things tourism at Loren Brae in the Scottish Highlands.
Inheriting Loren Brae, its castle, and a knighthood in the magickal Order of Caledonia, Sophie travels to the Highlands. Lachlin, the castle’s manager and prickly Scot, is surprised, perturbed, and ultimately enchanted by curvaceous, determined, and resourceful Sophie.
I love the chilling sound effects for the Kelpies and the ghostly Highland Kuh (cow), and the sword fights, and the full cast. You either love or hate these productions, I'm of the former category.
Omg!!! I absolutely loved this, it had me so invested and enthralled I couldn’t stop listening!! Sophie was strong and sassy loved her!! And Lachlan was grumpy Scottish goodness, I loved them and their banter! The story was so good too, the magic, the kelpies, the order, Sir buster and Clyde!!! It was sweet, a little spicy, a little emotional and so funny, I just loved it all and will be diving straight into the next!!!
it's a fluffy book but omg do the voice actors sell it so well. I laughed out loud a couple of times at how serious they voiced some of the silly, sappy, or sexy lines.
wasn't a huge fan of some of the stereotypes, but this is clearly written for straight white women so I think that demographic will be familiar with them and hopefully remember that.
It was a quick listen. It's a graphic novel, so it has voice actors and music. Which was fine, just not what I'm used to and it took a minute for the music to not be annoying. The writing was a little immature and the romance was very quick. But it wasn't an over all bad book.
The graphic audio is delightful and I was constantly laughing at how relatable messing up the language is when moving to a new country. The story itself is a charming romance with a side of fantasy elements.
Typical cute easy read, with several romance tropes. I came across the graphic audio, and thought I’d give it a try. I don’t normally like silly romance books. And while I enjoy a good fantasy, I don’t care for magical realism. The best part was listening to the Scottish accents and banter.
Perfectly cute and easy listen. Definitely helps listening to the Scottish accent as well 😉 While this book won’t blow your mind, it was also very fun, the world was cute. I wish the magic was a little more fleshed out. But I’d definitely listen to the others in this series.
The dialogue was too cheesy and low key kind of sexist? Idk really reeked of early 2000s not like other girls in a way I found super annoying. Also insta-lust ALWAYS takes me out and this was particularly egregious.
This was hard to rate. The Graphic Audio team did an amazing job as always. It’s not their fault the writing was just okay. I’ll listen to more as I love the accents and soundtrack.
Just the book I needed when I needed it. GA Adaptations are my favorite. This is the first in a series and got off to a great start. Can't wait to listen to book 2.
