The first installment of the Jaxon Effect Trilogy is a fast paced and sexy page turner that has all the goods. DR. Kate Sims suffered a horrible break-up. To make matters worse it was on her wedding day. Afraid of ever getting too close to another person again Kate managed to avoid relationships. It wasn't until she met the dark and mysterious Jaxon Remington that things quickly changed. Jaxon Remington is a strip club owner from Manhattan that doesn't do relationships. He learned the hard way what happens when you trust the wrong person and vowed never to get involved in another relationship again. That was until he met Dr. Kate Sims. No matter how hard he tried to ignore it, the chemistry between them was undeniable. A mutual decision to experience one evening of passion turned sour and the aftermath was more than either of them bargained for. When Kate and her best friend's lives are in danger due to serious threats from an Ex with a proven track record to follow through Kate has no choice but to turn to Jaxon for help at the risk of losing her heart to a man that held too many dark secrets.

Waiting patiently for book #2!! I received an ARC of this from the author in exchange for an honest review. When I read the synopsis I thought that it sounded like an intriguing story and it definitely is. This is also a real page turner as I read it in less then 24 hours.
I really enjoyed this story. Jaxon is a sexy alpha male that doesn't have to be bossy all the time to get his way which is different than some of the stories that I've been reading which is a nice change. Kate is a strong woman with a mind of her own that doesn't cave to Jaxon just because he says so...love that in a heroine. I felt that this was a very well written story where all of the characters were introduced in a way that you knew who they were and I can't wait to see what happens next. I will say that there were a some spelling and punctuation errors as well as one place in the book where one of the characters name was listed incorrectly but that didn't bother me so much as I knew who they were talking about and it seems like there are always some editing issues in almost every ebook that I read lately; but if these things bother you, you'll know ahead of time. :) That being said, I will waiting patiently for the next installment...
OK so since I am married to K.C. Michaels I felt an obligation to read her book, to be honest I am not a big reader of this style book, but to support my wife I read this entire book. One of the very few books of this type if any I have actually read. Most of my reading is geared to self help and positive thinking. Saying that I did feel connected to the story and the characters in this book, as I read more and more I did want to continue to see what happens, I like the fact its not all sex and steam. Their is an actual story here to be read and I believe most readers will truly enjoy this book.
Congrats on your first novel, cant wait to read The Jaxon effect book 2 :)
First, I would like to thank the author for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. That being said, I loved it! It only hints at being "Fifty Shades of Grey", but was much better written and not so over the top. There is an actual story to this book with the sex being secondary and pretty tame. The threat to Kate's life and her relationship with Jaxon keeps the reader interested to the very end.
Dr. Kate Sims is portrayed as strong and intelligent most of the time. Jaxon has commitment issues but unlike Fifty Shades Christian, he is very likeable. The author even does a great job introducing supporting characters, who keep you interested enough to want to read about their future stories. Hopefully there will be books about Kelsey or Jade.
Some of the jealousy or miscommunication was a little too much at times, but that is just my personal quirk. It was not enough to take any thing away from the book. For those readers that care, there was also some punctuation and spelling errors, but in my opinion it was very minor.
I cannot wait for Ms. Michaels to finish writing Book Two: The Jaxon Effect - Complications and Compromises.
Dark and dangerous, Jaxon Remington is more than just that. There is the tinge of insecurity behind that tough exterior making him relatable and likable. Dr Katherine Sims on the other hand is the total opposite of him. Although giving a feeling of naivety and innocence, she is one woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. The story is well woven but jumpy at times. I do feel that Jaxon seems unsure of what he really wants with Kate, as he is bouncing back and forth with his decision but as his past has not yet been unravel, I should reserve some judgment on why he is like that. I am slightly disappointed that I did not feel the chemistry between them as strong as I would like. There are a few key secondary characters but the development was minimal. Nonetheless, I am feeling the Jaxon Effect and can’t wait to read more about Jaxon and Kate. Looking forward to book 2 of this installment.
I was given a copy by the author for an honest review.
The Jaxon Effect was amazing. I loved every minute of it and found it very hard to finish that last chapter because I did not want it to end. I am so looking forward to her next book and to see how the story unfolds with the characters. I personally think that this is the type of book that could definitely be made into a movie at some point. Jaxon is very sexy and although he seems to have that tough side to him he is very gentle. And Kate is so fragile but yet so strong at the same time. I would like to thank KC for sharing this book with me and I am so eager to get the next one. So keep writing girl and make sure you send me a copy of the next Jaxon Effect!
I just received this book yesterday and I finished it in one day. I literally could not put it down. K.C. pulls you in and makes you yearn for more. Her descriptive style allows the reader to be transported to another world, where the passion swirls around you. A definite must read!!
Jaxon and Kate share one thing in common, deeply traumatic incidences in their pasts that affect how they interact with each other in the present and throughout the novella.
Drop dead hunk Jaxon’s a control freak, a ‘one hit’ man who vowed never to let another woman get too close. One night was all he had to offer. That is until Kate. He warns her of course, but then admirably proceeds to smash his own rules to pieces all the while playing this push and pull game. At least he wasn’t a complete jerk but he got too close for comfort a couple of times there. Had he followed through it would have been the end for me.
Kate for all her 29 years is too naïve and insecure (the jealous rages were over the top imho) for my reading tastes. Walk away woman and leave him to it. Maybe I read too many romantic intrique/fantasy where the heroines in the main are kick ass, who say what they mean and mean what they say, at least for more than a couple of hours, a night or a couple of days. It got tedious and when Kate ended up settling - I lost interest, just as well it was the end. It was difficult at times not to fit her into a much much younger age bracket. At one point there I thought...I thought...had she followed through I would have cheered her on.
The author shows glimpses of Jaxon’s sexual preferences on more than one occasion but never quite follows through with the whole deal thank goodness. I could see where this was going and its skirting that edge that isn’t really my cuppa tea.
Another fixation on a 29 year old virgin? I’ll repeat what I said in another review. If this were historical romance I’d be forced to believe it but in a contemporary romance? Well, unless the woman has been living in a bubble it’s simply too unbelievable.
It sounds like a lot of negatives I know but I did like the writing. However, I've come to expect a lot more from the heroines and Kate needs to make a stand and grow a real backbone in the next book instead of allowing herself to be lead around by the nose. Frustrating.
I read the book from cover to cover with in 12 hours. I loved this book, can't wait until # 2 comes out! Please tell me i won't have to wait long!!!!! I never used to read alto until a few year ago when i discovered that by reading it would help me control my chronic back pain from a home invasion and was thrown down my basement stairs protecting my children. Reading helps control my chronic pain like as in this case when the story is great u can't put it down and by doing that really helps keep my mind off the pain, because i don't won't to have depend on pain meds, not that i don't use them its just as my Dr has told me that a person in my situation would be always saying they need more or something stronger. I tell her i find reading a good book and REALLY getting into it helps a great deal. Sorry for going on about my story but i really wanted u to know what a GREAT story this but its also how its told! My many thanks to the author K.C Michaels! I know and waiting to see a Best selling Author attached to your books! (It will happen) Thanks again & can't for #2! (any approx due date ss of yet?)
So this was another freebie and I really wasn't sure what to expect...I was thinking at first that it was going to be another FSOG knock off. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's a little dark and gritty at times but completely sexy and I couldn't put it down. Of course I'm a little put off by the fact that I have to wait for the next book. I usually wait until a series is complete because I lose interest easily but overall, I have no complaints. I hope we get to see more of Jaxon' s alpha male personality in the next one. If you want a bit of sexy alpha male meets a woman who can finally break him mixed with some great complexity, it's definitely worth the read!!
I loved this book, I didn't want to put it down i had it finished in a day, its well written and given just enough excitement that it's not too much but enough to keep you from wanting to stop reading. The cliff hanger in the end is going to drive me crazy until the next book Totally recommend
I really liked this one. I like the different spin on Jaxon. I will admit there were some similarities to FSOG but it still had its own special twist. Can't wait to read part 2 hopefully it will be out soon.
Best book I have read in a long time. I couldn't put the book down. It is a very addicting...I need the next book to come out soon!! I highly recommend it!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Wowza! this book was packed!!! ...a dark, tall and handsome Alpha male, who had more than his fair share of catastrophic life events...a young doctor, determined to lose her virginity...and the ex of her best friend gone wild!!! So why 2 stars from me? I could not understand what was so special about Kate that Jaxon was tempted to break his rule of no-commitments. OK, she came across as a credible person, but why her when you have to fend women off with a stick??? I hope we will find this out in the next installment... And Jaxon? My Dear Lord! Be prepared when someone like him walks into your life...he is going to change everything!!! Year-long differences will be settled miraculously overnight, everything will be taken care of in his vicinity...at some point I thought he is able to walk on water and even split the Red Sea! But... my curiosity is peaked! The events at the end of the book are promising...
i loved this story, had me gripped, bad boy meets doctor, no strings 1 time only sex........mmmm i adore Jaxon but i really need to know more about him, ooo plz i really need the next book lol SPOLIER ALERT BELOW....................................
twin sisters both virgins at 29 ? bit far fetched but it worked
I really enjoyed the story however I must say at 50% the excitement kinda waned. It started off freaking hilarious and sizzling. I laughed out loud and was grinning like it was me (as the heroine) but then....
Overall I loved the story and will reread because there were certain parts that I'm in love with.
I loved this story it was so good in anxious for book 2. The ending has me impatient! I love the love story and the characters they sucked me in so hard I didn't put it down!
