No one enjoys worn-out underwear and a shattered heart. Yet, that's life, right? Three friends mature under an ancient tree, dirty, tough, yet full of hope. Playfight, by turns funny and touching, delves into their inner lives as they seek love - real, messy love. As their roots deepen, they decide to reach for the skies. A multi-award-winning team, including playwright Julia Grogan, Theatre Uncut, and Grace Dickson Productions, presents Playfight, casting light on adolescent desire amidst rising sexual violence. It's published alongside its run at Roundabout, Summerhall, Edinburgh Fringe, starting 1st August.
Having seen this play three times, I still felt I gleaned still more from the script on reading. There are jokes that slip by too fast when you are in full flow of the play, hints and nudges that are only visible in hindsight, and stage directions written as beautifully as the dialogue.
If you can see this play (on its current tour or at a later date) please do. It is as important as it is poetic.
This play is searing electric profoundly moving packed with fear and abandon I just cried on the train (I've seen the show, I know what happens). Julia Grogan the woman that you are.
