Hugely entertaining account of New York’s near-death experience in 1975. More readable than Ken Auletta’s “The Streets Were Paved with Gold.”

At times, a quick zoom out for the wider picture would have been helpful, but to take research as dense as this and craft a page-turning thriller in the end is impressive. A critical read for any New Yorker amused at the idea that the city’s living in “unprecedented” times. 4.5/5 rounded up.
