If you love murder-flirting, stalker romance, and characters who make the dumbest decisions imaginable, this book is for you. Personally, i had a blast laughing at the absurdity of it all.
this had so much potential, but it tripped over its own red flags, rolled into a pit of clichés and faceplanted into mediocrity. the only saving grace was the banter, but even that lost its charm by the end.
short story long:
you’re out here hacking security systems and disabling cameras like a tech genius, but you can’t walk into her dad’s house and get the dirt you need? Be serious. Apparently, the only way to enact his grand revenge is by getting close to Regan.
—Regan (h) is an introvert, indecisive, and boring person who just watches movies, draws art, or lounges inside the house all day long. Literally living my dream but somehow making it look depressing. she was supposed to be rebellious. was she?

regan was exactly the girl that'll be first to get killed in a horror movie, as for making the dumbest mistakes ever. her intelligence is proven when she literally sat on the bike with rook, who btw was supposed to rob her bf and pointed a gun at her.

the guy is a hot muscular tattooed stalker biker who likes to chase me and is putting in efforts to get to know me.
—Rook (H) is a mild-mannered stalker with a bike. he spends his days hacking security systems, sneaking around, and occasionally scaring people for fun. to add some tragic depth we learn his entire family (minus his sister) was killed in a fire, courtesy of Regan’s dad. naturally his grand plan for revenge involves… stalking Regan? Because that’s logical.
now the point where my mind spiraled and made me realize the absolute ridiculousness of the situation.
this man can disable cameras, crack locks, and hack into anything like a pro. But instead of walking into the house to do his revenge-y business, he spends 300 pages loitering near Regan like a lovesick puppy.
obviously the guy has many skills.

But it wasn’t just Regan who had me questioning life choices. Rook himself was no better. he literally did nothing for the revenge. aside from one scene, he was just having fun with regan. her dad was just given to him on a shiny platter.
honestly, the whole your father killed my parents subplot was so lazily handled, I started wondering if his parents were even dead. it was like a big joke how he revealed everything.
Regan: who hurt you? 😞
Rook: your dad.
Regan: Liar!
she immediately flips back to My daddy is innocent! mode because, of course, naïve behavior runs in her DNA. Honestly, I agreed with her dad—she’s too dumb to inherit the family business.
no sane intelligent person would sit on a bike with a would-be robber, then play hide & seek with him to just letting him stalk you because it makes you feel less alone. but does it stop her from judging him? nope.
"You want my hands on you when, ten minutes ago, you were scared of them?"
“Maybe I am the monster.”
bro are you okay?? Because i’m not. i was cackling sjjsjs Rook, ofc, finds this incredibly sexy, because why wouldn’t he? Nothing says true love like a little self-loathing 😚
the plot was non-existent and they just stalked each other and made out. there wasn’t anything special or fun, which is why it was mediocre. the side characters were somewhat better.
“How the fuck do you run a security business and think a dummy drawer compartment is a good place to hide things? Regan and Harper found them in minutes.”
for fuck’s sake, ikr? the big bad security company owner dad, who killed many people and has done shady bad things. he literally just walked inside his house, saw a bunch of bikers inside his office, and they just captured him and killed him?
all those 300 pages and this was the ending of the villain lmao. Regan also supposedly has no emotions. She shrugs off her dad’s death like it’s a minor inconvenience and even kills someone for Rook without batting an eye as if she's been doing this as a hobby for years.
this whole book is ridiculous and laughable. Which, honestly, is probably the point. there's nothing special in it.

Rook had two types of businesses, the clean one was the motorcycle shop he ran with his crew, the other job he did wasn't so clean but where they made a majority of their money and were building their power all over town. You could say they were the clean up crew.
Regan's father ran one of the largest security companies within the city, after graduating college with a business degree she'd dreamed of taking it over from him when she learnt how much the legacy mean't to him which is why she put her own dreams of attending art school on hold hoping that he'd let her step up and take over the company one day.
All I had hoping for this book was that my book funk would get kicked to the curb especially after picking up a few books and putting them down, nothing seemed to grab my attention, until this... So I never imagined that my bookfunk would be obliterated like it did, straight away I was pulled in, never expecting to love it as much as I did, never wanting it to end. From start to finish I was under this authors spell, eating up the words like my life depended on it, loving everything this new world threw at me.
I’m not sure if I was meant to laugh at the hairy situations she found herself in but when it came to Rook and her interactions I couldn’t help but giggle, especially when she’s left stranded as her boyfriend hightails it out of a sticky situation leaving her stranded and vulnerable like he did..Leaving her looking down the barrel of a gun.. Yes I'm that person that giggles at all the inappropriate moments...
I loved these two, they were perfection, the too and fro, the squabbling, I couldn’t get enough of them. The unique storyline, the revenge aspect of the story, the angsty moments, the swooning moments.. This was so unexpectedly good.

guys, i'm afraid this book still didn't slap in its trad publishing era.
₊˚꒰ 𖧷 ꒱ ⊹ i. plot summary. ₊˚⊹ ꒱
regan fletcher lives under deluxe house arrest in her father’s sprawling mansion. she’s sheltered, lonely, and dreaming of freedom (or a hobby that isn’t staring at walls like it’s performance art).
here enters rook emberson, a biker with vengeance burning in his veins. scarred by his past, he spots regan and thinks “ah, a pawn,” which is rich considering his name is literally rook. the plan is manipulation, clean, clinical, no feelings please, until it becomes a slow-motion disaster of obsession and attraction.
regan, desperate to escape, gravitates toward the one man with the range to destroy her entire ecosystem. rook, meanwhile, is haunted by enough backstory and is forced to wonder if his heart can do anything besides rage.
as they get closer, secrets unravel like a badly knit scarf, and rook has to pick a lane: keep meal-prepping his lifelong grudge, or risk choosing happiness, which includes therapy, communication, and kissing (terrifying).

let's start with our uber-scary, very brooding, and mega-tatted biker. he is so frustratingly inconsistent, spending the entire book flip-flopping between "oh yes, i am going to destroy everything you love" and "oh my fucking goodness, i'm totes in love with you now." i hope the author can tell me what his big revenge plan is, because i don't know what it is. for a book centered around the theme of vengeance, what was rook’s plan? i don’t think he even knows, and a guy who's supposed to be terrifying? bro's spends the majority of the book sulking over the fact that his girl crush doesn't like him back. which is kinda funny, i’ll admit.
and regan, oh my fuck, the most insufferable character currently roaming free in fiction. SHE HAS NO SENSE OF SELF-PRESERVATION. art is her main hobby? nah, regan's main hobby is starting at walls, rewatching the same tv show like she has a gun to her head, falling for a man who openly admits that he's using her, and accepting every single red flag that bitch slaps her in the face.
and the romance? oh, you mean the emotional whiplash the readers are forced to endure for 400 PAGES? rook is like, "i hope you know i'm using you" and regan's is all, "oh, that's fine because you're the love of my life." their chemistry feels as electric as a dead car battery. i have better chemistry with my math textbook.

as much as i want to continue this rant, i can't fault the book entirely. the cover is cute, and i think the setup is perfect. revenge target tied to the heroine’s family? biker crew loyalty? rich-girl-in-a-gilded-cage? i’m feral for those tropes.
but the grammatical and spelling errors and awkward dialogue made me think the editor lowkey hates the author or maybe they're hellbent on revenge like rook as well. who knows? but please, hire a better editor or several proofreaders. i'm willing to volunteer.

well this was something, I’m not even really sure what I read here😭
main thoughts:
while this was easy to read and didn’t use much of my brain, it also wasn’t great. just meh really. I didn’t feel the need to dnf because i figured I was already pretty far into it and I could just mindlessly read. I want to start of by talking about some things I disliked which was just the plot because well there was one sorta but then you get to the end and it’s like okay this was predictable and not really suspenseful or exciting. I think the plot kinda just flew out the window tbh😭 maybe with a little more editing and more structure to the plot then this book possibly could have been something.
I feel like this is a book I could have read on wattpad if I was bored😅 which might say something about me idk

The romance between them was certainly not my favorite, it was okay but to me it felt like it was all lust cause they barely did anything sweet together. Maybe there was two sweet-ish moments but that’s about it and that just wasn't enough for me😃 where’s the chemistry?? Honestly I think they were both deranged and delusional for each other but good for them I guess

The only reason this is getting the rating it did was because it was easy to read and the chapters were short so I was able to push through. The only part I really liked was when Regan finally learned the truth and even that scene wasn’t very suspenseful but it was better than nothing in all honestly.
I really wouldn’t recommend this unless you want to read something that’s not really exciting but easy enough to read I guess🤷♀️

The romance between them was certainly not my favorite, it was okay but to me it felt like it was all lust cause they barely did anything sweet together. Maybe there was two sweet-ish moments but that’s about it and that just wasn't enough for me😃 where’s the chemistry?? Honestly I think they were both deranged and delusional for each other but good for them I guess

The only reason this is getting the rating it did was because it was easy to read and the chapters were short so I was able to push through. The only part I really liked was when Regan finally learned the truth and even that scene wasn’t very suspenseful but it was better than nothing in all honestly.
I really wouldn’t recommend this unless you want to read something that’s not really exciting but easy enough to read I guess🤷♀️

this book was 100% the one that broke my mini reading slump and i have to thank Rook for that because this man was pure entertainment. i already knew from his first encounter with Regan that he was not letting her out of his sight, so once that mutual stalking started i just found their whole banter hilarious. a lot of the book and it’s set up is nothing new, he’s out for revenge against her father and she’s the “spoiled” daughter who knows nothing of her father’s true dealings. but trust me when i say, this was so much fun to read and sometimes that’s all i can ask for. i loved that Rook brought out the fire in Regan and those steamy scenes on his bike .. 😮💨 i already have an idea of who the next books will follow, so I’m looking forward to continuing.

I liked and I highly recommend the audiobook because Sean Masters voice is pantie melting…. 🔥
It’s a cute little MC romance with some action and a little spice. In my opinion it’s a perfect in between type of book, not too dark and not too fluffy.
Rook is a protector, he has his crew and sister and he would do anything for them. He is a criminal and never hides this from Reagan aka Rebel.
Reagan is a little princess who wants to do more than sit around all day waiting for her father to allow her into the business, but she never does. After she “meets” Rook she starts to venture more, he calls her Rebel but honestly she is far from it. She annoyed me a little because she looks for information, finds some and does nothing about it and never tries to find out more. Her father literally betrays and diminishes her “giving” his business to her ex who’s a major jerk and again she does nothing besides pout and hide. Rook tells her everything, again she does nothing besides hide and be against him. But the end when she learns it all, Rook keeps asking her “permission “ to do this or that and asking if she was ok with. I mean, it’s kinda cute but not at the same time because we are talking major crimes in here. Also might not be ok for me because I am so use to the major dark romances where there is no question related to those things, so it might be a me problem 😂
Overall is a cute book, entertaining and all. I think I would like to read about her sister and Aidan or Hero and Harper.

Call me picky or whatever you want but I DESPISE it when the hero thinks that he would like to forget about the heroine by hooking up with an OW - only thing is that he doesn’t because the OW looks like the heroine😑 This shit always pisses me off. I *was* going to continue reading this just for shits and giggles despite the excessive neck biting that was eerily similar to that of a vampire but I. AM. DONE.

Super cute dark rom com! I loved how they both stalked each other. If you’re looking for fun vibes with murder then look no further!!
**just a heads up - there are a few mistakes throughout the book. Words missing/sentences not making sense etc. I can handle not focusing on that but I know some can’t!!

Що ж сказати про цю книгу 🤔 Було трішки сумбурно, в той же час весело, сама історія сповнена дотепних жартів, гарячих веселощів і брудних розмов 🌶 😏
В цій історії величезна кількість обману, скандалів та стільки всього, що вам не буде нудно😉
Головний герой на ім'я Рук, морально сірий персонаж, з важкою долею і зі своїми склетами у шафі, але в той же час він така солодка булка🫠 Мужик, який все зробить заради неї, навіть поступиться своїми принципами ☺ Зі своєю бунтаркою він справжній золотистий ретривер 😍
Реган, або "бунтарка", вона у нас типова спадкоємиця, з синдромом хорошої дівчинки і не розкритими талантами (у всіх сенсах😅). Вона для мене була трішки нудною і туповатою, місцями навіть мене бісила😅
Підсумовуючи можу сказати, що книга починалася з дуже з цікавої зав'язки, непогана середина і сюжет, що швидко розвивається, але кінцівка трішки мене розчарувала.
Так, ми отримали чудовий фінал, але він був якийсь...скупий і нудний...не знаю як ще сказати, як на мене помста занадто швидко здійснилась, я хотіла більше драми і кривавою помсти 🤭😅

This book was strangely fascinating, even though it veered into the ludicrous and over-the-top at times. Despite that, it managed to remain entertaining. Rook & Rebel is a biker romance featuring a brooding hero and a heroine who, admittedly, could have used a bit more backbone here and there.
That said, the story was undeniably enthralling at points—it had a certain pull that kept me turning the pages. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the book could have benefited from a more thorough edit.
Overall, it's an enjoyable read if you're in the mood for something dramatic and gripping, with a dose of chaos.

Rook and Rebel had no business being that hot. The tension? Scorching. The chemistry? Illegal in several states. They talked plenty—but never about the important stuff, like feelings, trauma, or “hey, maybe don’t disappear for days?” Still, I devoured every angsty, sweaty second. I’d let Rook ruin my life. No regrets

If a FMC has no backbone, it would be this character. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MMC I WANTED TO JUMP INTO THE BOOK AND RUN HIM OVER. Rook reminded me why some men don’t deserve to speak I’m getting angry even thinking of him.
DNF got 50% in and my blood pressure couldn’t handle it.

took me a long while to finish because i started when i was in a reading slump so that’s my fault 🥴
rook and rebel are cute !! i just felt like there could’ve been more chemistry with them. i liked how there was no owd because that’s so overused 😭 i loved how rook literally was climbing the damn house to get to her and stalking her. the fmc was a bit ditzy sometimes but girl literally same 😂
i will definitely try reading again when i’m not in a slump and when i’m in the mood for a biker romance 🩷 i feel like i would love it a lot more the second time around
