This carefully assembled collection of short stories all take place in South Jersey and includes an Elmer, NJ woman whose romantic life mirrors that of the cardinals in her backyard, a Deptford man who hates Google, a Washington Township commuter whose audiobooks come to life, a Marlton, NJ, couple who discover that Reality TV is too real for them, and a down-on-his-luck roadie living in Newfield, NJ, who discovers that helping a man suffering from dementia has enriched his life.
I am a south-Jersey based author who writes and manages two blogs on podcasting, Ear Worthy on Medium and Podcast Reports on Blogger. I am also the author of five non-fiction books -- The Crazy World of the School Bus, Hit Pause For Life, A Suburban Prison, Ear Worthy, and The COVID Hotel. My first novel -- Away From Home -- was published in May 2021. In June 2022, I published my first contemporary romance novel -- For the Love of Books.
At this point, I can't even remember what book I was looking for, but my search in my local library's data base turned up this book as available on Hoopla. Serendipity played a big part in my end of year reading.
But how could this South Jersey girl pass up the opportunity to read about her birthplace. Amazingly, one of the stories was even set in my hometown. (The story is a bit cliche, but mostly, likely, possible.)
The other weird thing is that I am the first to read or review this collection here on Goodreads. That is definitely a first.
Thank you, Frank Racioppi for a tour of my home place. It was enjoyable. My only quibble is that although Wawa is the best convenience store, I don't think South Jersey gets to claim it. The business started in Pennsylvania.
