I is extremely rare that I fall for a man these days (bi-problems lol), but I fell in love with Caiden before the first chapter concluded.

This was such a sweet novella with MCs over 40 and solid anxiety rep. Caiden was such a sweetheart and romantic. I love it when a MMC wants to find his one true love. Selene was anxious and creative and an affirming presence for Caiden, who was still processing his years past divorce. Also, dropping a phone in the toilet? Can we say relatable?

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: physical altercations involving fists, sexual harassment, discussion of emotionally manipulative ex

- Insta Love
- Monster / Human Romance
- Fated Mates
- Magic Dating App
- 🌶️🌶️🌶️

First off, I loved this novella. Some scenes had me giggling and kicking my feet.

Caiden is a tattooed divorced human bouncer of a popular bar in downtown Nashville who is ready to get back out there. His sister convinces him to try a dating app and he realizes there is one already installed on his phone. Although confused, he decides to give it a try.

He is instantly matched with a beautiful moth woman named Selene. Selene is a breathtaking neon artist also located in Nashville. Both in their 40s, they aren’t trying to date around, they want to find their one. After a chance meeting in a Waffle House at 4am, they quickly realize they have a connection neither of them can deny. The more time they spend together, the more they learn they seem to fit perfectly into each other’s lives. Did this magic dating app really find their fated mate?

I loved that the main characters are both older and that they represented mental health in a way they felt accurate and true. I related a lot to Selene and I loved that she found herself a big sexy man to support her. Caiden is the ideal MMC - gah I just love him.

Oof and did I mention that the spice was SPICING!?! Elaine J Daniels KNOWS how to write some good spicy scenes 🥵🌶️

I’m going to try my best to keep this review spoiler free!

First off, I absolutely LOVE having a romance story between 40 year olds. It’s so refreshing, especially since this industry feels very dominated with 18 year olds. Which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s nice to see a love story bloom between two middle aged people.

I absolutely adored both main characters. Caiden, a loving, protective mate. Selene, the most adorable character ever. I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope, & luckily we do not have to deal with that in this novella.

Even tho this is a short read, it was so fun watching these two characters fall for each other. We love a happy ending 🩷

EEEEEE!!!

OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF MOTHMAN I SWEAR IT 😭 SO MANY MOTH PEOPLE STORIES THIS MONTH (moth manager review coming eventually).

This book blew away all expectations. I was excited for a mothperson FMC and a tattoo-covered human romance, and instead I fell in love with Selene and Caiden, and the world 😭. I need more ASAP!!

Selene. I fucking love her so much. She was so unapologetically herself in the book and I related so much. From her falling asleep witb plushies, to her expressions via antennas, I fell hard and fast. I can see why Caiden did the same.

Caiden. SO SOFT, SO SWEET, BUT ALSO SO HARD 😏. I fell for him immediately. I love a man that loves kids, whether they want their own or not. I loved his and Arties relationship. I loved his friendships. I loved his moth tattoos.

I love how competitive Caiden and Selene were with each other. How they kept making bets and trying to win over the other. I love how this dynamic was also used for them to promise to always share their insecurities with each other 😭 AND AND HOW (epilogue spoiler!) THEY BOTH HAD PLANNED ON PROPOSING TO THE OTHER 😭. I loved this book a *lot*.

PS. I NEED MORE INFO ABOUT ANDRE!! WHERE IS HE FROM?? WHY DOES HE SAY TOODLES. I MUST KNOW !!!

okay first and foremost I totally pictured the mmc as an elder emo all tatted and buff...yes please! he was such a kind sweet soul. the fmc Selene was a bubbly and secure in who she is as a mothwoman.
which I absolutely loved!

this was just a fluffy ball of cotton candy sweet and fastly devoured. I will say though I would have like to know more about the fmcs unique anatomy lol I feel like it was mentioned almost in passing. I wanted all of the descriptive writing for that

To start, Caiden is written for the female gaze. I am highly appreciated that. He’s a tatt’d bouncer with a heart of gold and he is holding out for the one.

Once our main love interest meets our moth lady via a mysterious app, the pair stumble into each other in the cutest little late night dinner scene.

After a night together, a broken phone leads to the beginning of a misunderstanding. I think it would have been easy to have this cause some wacky miscommunication that leads to a big fallout and lots of emotions. Except we get a far better scene of Selene realizing that after such a good date it isn’t likely she was ghosted and that she needs to consider the other possibilities.

I absolutely freaking adored this. I’m really not a fan of misunderstandings or characters just jumping to crazy conclusions. Having a scene that includes therapy techniques and a character who picks themselves back up even while upset and uncertain on an outcome was the best direction the story could have went.

The rest of the story had a few elements that tie together and the end wraps up nicely. Not a long read, highly recommend it.

I genuinely could read so much more about these two. When it comes to insta-love it’s always so cute and sweet when they immediately click. Selene was just a bubbly woman. Walking sunshine. I adore her. She’s open and honest about herself. Her dreams, her insecurities.

She’s more than okay with her body type. I love that for her. And for me.

Caiden is super yummy. I love that he’s covered in tattoos and works as a bouncer. Just screams manly, but he’s also kind and watches out for the people around him. So he passes toxic and goes right into green flag territory. He adores Selene too and it shows in every action he takes.

Such a cute story!

what a cute read!
if you want a perfect novella with insta-love which you are accepting without cringe, this is ideal book for you.
We have a love story of Selene (our gorgeous mothwoman) and Caiden (man with nice body, personality and tattoos) and how they met in a dating app. Sounds quite standard, but this app is magically appeared on his phone and this app is developed to match fated mates.
If you don't want simply read about mates, this is also story for you. Cause we have a nice plot where our girl is an artist and how she is in the process of having her first exhibition. Will it be a success? How will critics think about her sculptures? Can she evade hands and attention of exhibition owner? How Caiden will behave when he reasized his girl is uncomfortable?
Great, short and fun read!

many thanks to Elaine for sharing the ARC with me in exchange for an honest review.

This little series with the KISSMEET app is absolutely amazing !

First and foremost I LOVED how this author made the FMC a Mothwoman... y'all know I have an obsession with cryptids... but I will say that to more common to see them portrayed as MMCs not FMCs... so that made my heart super happy!

My thoughts:
-This was a super cute and spicy little read!
-I LOVED the FMC and that she was this talented and successful Mothwoman, that was also a little spitfire!
-The MMC was of course a walking tattooed god... but he was also a total cinnamon roll for his mate!
-I am always a sucker for fated mates and then add in a scent match and I'm a goner!
-I loved despite this being a novella there was still this really great story and plot!
-And there is some cute little romantic moments...but there's also some spice... and ya know when those pheromones release and those heats start....you better buckle up!
-Yep gonna need this on one my shelf!

Such a cute novella, definately one of my favourites in the series. The characters felt real, making their problems and personalities relatable and reflective of life while still enjoying the fantasy aspects. Their romance was so pure. It was mainly character driven but there was an enjoyable plot as well.

This is a super cute novella! Selene and Caiden are adorable together. I just love them so much! They're very relatable and have some great chemistry. It's refreshing to see a romance between "older" characters. This novella is sweet with heat and heart. I highly recommend it!

Gleeful Goblin Review: My heart was GONE when I read this section from our MMC Caiden because I feel exactly the same way he does in answering the question about what he's looking for: "Why don’t I have a fated máte? Why did I get stuck in a marriage that was doomed to fail before it even began? Does my conviction to be myself really make me that unlovable? But there’s no point in dwelling on these questions. I’m just going to have to put in the work like everyone else not blessed enough to have a fated máte. “I just want to love and be loved.” There. Some may call that answer vague, but it’s the honest truth."

I also really related to the anxiety our FMC describes and being worried about being too much when she first messaged Caiden: “Alright, Selene. Quit overthinking this. This man is your mate. No reason to be shy.” I scan his profile, looking for a conversation starter. Oh. His ideal meal is an Impossible burger? Excellent. I can work with that. Selene: Hi, Caiden! My name is Selene! Nice to meet you! I see your favorite meal is an Impossible Burger. I love Impossible burgers myself. Are you a vegetarian too? Is that too many exclamation marks? Kismeet doesn’t have an edit or an unsend option. Fúck. Well, if he’s really my fated máte, then, hopefully, he’ll find my enthusiasm endearing. The little circle next to his name indicates that he’s not active. He’s busy. Which is fine by me because I need a break from all the excitement. I’m exhausted. Anxiety always takes such a physical toll on me."

So, I'm already digging on these two adorkable weirdos but then during their first kismet style run-in turned date when Caiden is for real interested in and wants to know more about the art Selene creates? Oh man, I was DONE FOR. This book is a perfect mix of high octane cute with enough steam for several bath houses. 5/5 Stars

Mesmerized by the Mothwoman by Elaine J Daniels is part of the Fated Dates multi-author series and is a complete standalone. This was a novella that I read in one sitting! Daniels doesn’t normally write MF romance, but she knocked it out of the park with this one!

🖤MF Monster Romance
🦋Mothwoman FMC
🖤Human MMC
🦋Fated Mates
🖤MCs in their 40s
🦋Plus-Size FMC
🖤Tatted MMC
🦋Pheromone Spicy Times

Caiden Miller is divorced and not interested in mindless dating because he is holding out for his one true love. Color him surprised when he discovers a dating app on his phone that he didn’t download. Despite the odd circumstances surrounding the app’s arrival, Caiden fills out his profile.

Selene is an artist trying to find her big break and someone to share in her success. So when Selene’s best friend convinces her to download Kis-Meet, she’s skeptical…can an app truly match her with her fated mate?

When Caiden and Selene match? Their connection is electric from the start and feels meant to be. But, there’s someone else who wants Selene, and they aren’t above fighting dirty to make that happen. Will outside forces tear Caiden and Selene apart, or will they find a way to secure their HEA?

I loved everything about Caiden and Selene because they each have such relatable qualities! Selene struggles with anxiety (same girl), and Caiden wants someone to love him for who he is…all of him. The way that Caiden looks at Selene? That man DEVOURS Selene from head to toe like she is his next meal and he's HUNGRY. Yes, please. A man who values consent AND has that touch her and meet fists mentality? Stop me from swooning. His hand tattoos? I was done for. The chemistry between these two? 🥵

If you are new to monster romance and looking for a quick read, this is perfect for you!

This novella is so adorable! I loved Selene and Caiden so much. They were both searching for the missing piece and found it in each other, thanks to a mysterious dating app. Caiden didn't want to date again after his last failed relationship; he was looking for the real thing. Selene wasn't sure she wanted to put herself out there. They both put their faith in a magical dating app, and found exactly what they were looking for.

I really enjoyed the healthy discussions that Caiden and Selene were able to have about their anxieties and insecurities. That's so important, and it doesn't happen a lot on-page. I appreciated that they were able to hear each other out and talk through everything. They're also just so incredibly sweet with each other, even in the middle of a mating frenzy!

Both characters are in their mid-40s, which was really refreshing. Reading about 20 year olds all the time gets a little boring after a while. It's really nice to show that just because you're no longer considered "young" (which is honestly a ridiculous notion, 40s is nowhere near old!), that doesn't mean you can't have romance in your life. This was sweet, spicy, and just what I needed to help me out of my reading rut.

🦋 “Security Guards & Small Wings of Fate” — Mesmerized by the Mothwoman by Elaine J. Daniels 🦋

Picture this: you’re on vacation in Mexico, lounging with a drink in hand, and you pick up Mesmerized by the Mothwoman—only to realize the MMC is a hot security guard. You glance at your own sleeping boyfriend, who happens to also be a hot security guard, and suddenly you’re questioning reality. Then it’s set in Nashville? The exact city where I found my own hot security guard? Ma’am, Elaine J. Daniels, are you spying on me?? 👀

But truly — this book was a quaint, cozy delight. It’s got humor, charm, and just enough “wait, am I also the mothwoman?” energy to keep you hooked. The banter was fun, the romance was sweet, and the art gallery owner? Oh, that man had me seeing red. He deserved every single thing that came his way.

Elaine really said “cryptid romance but make it swoony,” and honestly? I’m here for it.

📚 Themes:
• Cozy paranormal romance 🦋
• Small town vibes 🎨
• Found love in unexpected places 💞
• Justice served (artistically) 🖼️
• “He’s a security guard, but make it fantasy” 👮‍♂️

Not really my vibe

I have read all the monsters book in this series and although there is nothing really wrong with this book or technically the writing itself. It was more the style and substance I struggled with. The plot and the characters were likeable enough but there was just no real substance to them.

Everything was accepted so easy, there was no development, no growth or real insight. I know this is a novella but I have read plenty that have been able to grip me from the beginning regardless of how short they were.

This is also very personal taste but I felt very much like this was the saying, ‘how do you know a vegan is a vegan, because they make sure to tell you’ it felt very woke and in your face, the vegetarian with a list of the best ‘veggie meals’ the perfect this, the over the top agreements to everything and ‘promise me if you feel something we’ll talk and I’ll accept it no matter what’ you can have the best expectations and hope and growth but life just doesn’t always go that way and it felt a little unrealistic and too ‘perfect’ - very personal take but just how it felt for me personally

This story follows caiden and Selene's journey to finding their mate through a mysterious app called Kismeet.

'"That wonderful smell is definitely coming from him. It makes me dizzy and giddy at the same time, like I've been tickled in just the right spot."

Caiden is absolutely DOWN to have a Fated mate, and it's the cutest. He is drawn to Selene in the best way and supports her career as a neon artist.

'Here i am sitting across from the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on, and she's telling me we are fated mates. It's literally what I wanted."

The small amount of drama kept me intrigued and waiting to see what's happened. The ending was cute, and I totally think selene made a good call.

This short and sweet tale was super cute, and I would absolutely love to dive into the other 6 in this series. Don't miss out on these cute, cozy monster reads.

Insta-love but doesn't feel like insta-love.

Caiden, a divorced security head in a prestigious bar was shocked to see Kismeet on his phone but signed up anyway. Selene, a mothwoman artist, downloaded the app so she can meet her fated mated. They connected through the app and exchanged messages.

I always love reading romance 'Later in Life Romance' since both MCs are in their 40s so they were both adult, and have no time for games. They communicate, they know what they want and just plain direct.

Didn't expect to love this because it's insta-love trope but didn't feel like it because they talked, they established a connection first before giving in which is lowkey hard to write because it's a novella.

This story was such an enjoyable read for me. Both Selene and Caiden were such lovable characters. I loved how Caiden was protective of the women he worked with and carried that same energy when it came to Selene. It showed that his tendency to be a protector is an innate part of his character. Selene was such a talented artist. I loved how she was calmed by him, and she trusted him. Even though they were fated mates, they had a little love story. I loved how he supported her at her art show after he dropped his phone in the toilet. I related to both of them in that moment, him dropping the phone and her wondering if he ghosted her.

This was such a fun read for me this past weekend. I spent the weekend in the same area the story took place IRL (actually fate lol), and of course I had to go to a Waffle House :)

This is another great entry in the Fated Mates series. I liked that in this edition the 'monsters' (and I use that loosely as Selene is definitely not monstrous) know about KisMeet and that it is for finding your fated mate. I loved the alternative nature of our two protagonists - Selene not only as a mothwoman but also a neon artist (so cool!) and Caiden as a badass security guard and lover of tattoos.

The subject of harassment is core to the story, so be aware of that before you read it, however it is handled very well. I also felt that the subject of mental health and anxiety was also very well represented. The relationship between Caiden and Selene is so cute and I love how he supports her. This story is short, sweet and spicy and one of my faves from this series so far.

Mesmerized by the Mothwoman is a sweet paranormal romance. I haven't read many stories with a female moth-person so that was a nice change. Although I would have enjoyed if there had been even more differences in how Selene's body functioned given she is so different from a human. Sometimes it felt like the author even forgot to account for her wings.

Selene is an artist on the verge of her big break, full of nerves about all the changes in her life. Caiden is a self assured bouncer at a nightclub, and a human. Their fated connection is off to a rocky start because of the slimy gallery owner who is showcasing Selene's art, so all angst comes from outside the relationship.

This was a cute story.

Oh my gosh, y'all!!! This was such a fabulous story! Insta-love, adorable characters, totally relatable situations, and of course, some delicious spice to round it off.

Selene is a 43 year old mothwoman who specializes in neon sculptures. Caiden is a 45 year old human who is head of security at a swanky night club. They meet via magical dating app.

I absolutely love that Selene is a middle-aged woman who has curves. I love that Caiden is head over heels for her. I love that they each have a past that makes them hesitant to love, but they push through in the cutest of ways.

While this book could use a good editor, I still highly recommend it. Well done, Elaine!!

I absolutely loved this story! Main characters in their 40s, swoony and protective MMC, gorgeous and talented FMC, lots of giggling and kicking my feet, and HOT spice. The story flowed so well - the insta love didn't feel like it at all. I would absolutely read this in a longer book if the author ever expanded it.

Thank you thank you thank you to Elaine for writing older MCs that go to therapy, talk things out, and support their partners. It was so refreshing to read. And who doesn't love a salt and pepper tatted man??
