Carnaxa awakens from her slumber, with things unknown. As events unfold, she grapples with forgotten decisions, unseen choices, and an inevitable path set for her by destiny.

Led By Duty.
Thylas stands at a precipice, torn between his heart’s desires and the solace he finds in the understanding of another. The choices he makes will affect not only his life, but those around him.
Ereon wrestles with the complexities of returning to his homeland and the unanticipated feelings he developed for another. Will he be the monster he was raised to be, or the man he wants to be?
When Prophecies are Unveiled, Kingdoms Will Fall.
In Ashonera, where desire and duty collide, intertwined destinies hang in the balance. As they encounter challenges of love, loyalty, and betrayal, they also clash with the relentless pull of fate — a force that threatens to tear them apart, even as it binds them together.
This is book two of The Ashonera Series, you must have read The Heat of Seas first. This book is intended for ages 18+, and does end on a cliffhanger.
But this book, this book, I see how it’s needed for the plot. And the plot? Was PLOTTING
I was screaming, I was crying, I was falling in love with the character but mannnnnn Mia Deanna why’d you have to do Thylas like that?!?!?
I spent 95% of the book pissed off but the remaking 5% crying.
Carnaxa, pissed me off the begging being so mean and heartless to Thylas.
And Thylas, my guy why? Why did you had to sulk so much and couldn’t you had just been a normal heartbreak and idk lifted/trained your heart out instead of doing something so stupid?!?
Aghhhhh
Anyway, I need book 3 like air, I need in my kindle EXPEDITIOUSLY.
I adored book 1, and this one does not disappoint. The opening scene is powerful but you don't get to understand the depth of it till the end. This is an epic journey of layered emotions, complex relationships, testing loyalties, and sacrifice. This is a rollercoaster of emotions and teasing, and it kept me on my toes throughout. It's so intense, dramatic and heartbreaking, balanced against the mystery of the prophecies and fated bonds, and there's lots of steamy moments. The relationship dynamics are complex especially with Carnaxa's changing desires, but I'm glad we get to explore more from Ereon. I did not expect the ending, and I am still reeling from it. I need the next book asap.
🌊"It's hard to hate someone when you can see their pain matches your own"
🌊"I don't break the kiss, for air has no importance in this moment"
🌊"You are a fucking goddess - do you know that" "Then worship me"
Thank you Deanna for the ARC of The Tale of Tears 🫶🏼
This is book two in her debut Ashonera series — an epic dark fantasy — and it did not disappoint! I truly didn’t know who I was rooting for throughout this book but I have love for allllll of the main characters. Ereon’s my guy though ❤️🔥
Swipe through for my take on the vibes, main characters and some fave quotes. I tried to keep this spoiler free but if you read it let me know so we can chat more, and be sure to read The Heat of Seas first!
🔱 atlantis vibes 🔱 long lost magic 🔱 love triangle 🔱 fated mates 🔱 prophecies 🔱 spice 3/5 🔱 cliffhanger
Holy cow! Why is everyone not reading this series? It's always a hurdle to surpass a first book but Deaana Hill did it! From quickly investing Anara into the group to the continued issue that is Thylas, Naxa and Ereon. I finished it in 2 days . I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. #eternalnight
While I thought the ending was unique I’m personally not of fan of… what the ending was lol I still liked all the characters except for Thylas who literally is like a child, very immature… whiny.. I won’t be continuing the series for those reasons. Other than that I thought the book was well written except for Thylas’ character.
I am sorry… WHAT?!?!!!! So Amazon has this book listed as 2 of 2….. Amazon best be lying because there ain’t no damn way. I’m sure it is lying because it ended with to be continued but like…. When? My heart shattered. Book one I thought Thylas was a better version of Chaol (TOG)…. I was wrong. I hate his bitch ass more than I hated Chaol….
Breathtaking. The world is full of magic and unknowns, the twists were completely unseen and the journey there was all encompassing. Can’t wait for the next.
This book was the perfect book 2 to the series, I was hooked to this story and so in love with it since book one. It carries where book one left, so many secrets are revealed. You are in for a good ride so be prepared to have your mind blown by the ending. I am sure book 3 will be so amazing as well. The writing and the whole story just grips you and keeps you wanting more. The characters growth is so significant. The world building is astonishing. It is all So magical and beautiful. The love triangle is more than a triangle Let’s say it becomes a cool square lol regardless you will fall in love with each one in their own way, your heart will break for them 😭 There are so many OMG moments here..this was defiantly one of my favorite reads. I recommend you read it. I want to do a re read and experience all of it all over again. But the end, I will say why? Deanna why? you leave our hearts wanting to know what happens to… no spoilers here ❤️ there are some good twists that you don’t see coming and it just makes you sit at edge of your seat..I love them all Rhenor, Siphonie, Ereon, Anara, Carnaxa and Thylas 🥹🥹
Some of my favorite quotes

“If the moon can slice through the darkness that the pain of everything would end.”
“I know she will be the one to free all of us.”
“I would sooner watch you being this world to ruin than ever lift my sword against you. I would stand at your side as it crumbled.”
“You are my moon, a light in the darkness.”
“Do not think you are so expendable that we would leave you here.”
“I’m not him, but I promise to be your safety here.”
“I was a prince of darkness taking away their princess of light.”
“I call you my queen not because you will rule one day but because you have already been ruling me.”
Tale of Tears” by Deanna Hill, the second installment in the Ashonera series, is nothing short of brilliant. The adventure picks up right where the first book left off and never lets up. It’s a rollercoaster of emotion, suspense, and magic that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Just when you think you know what’s coming, Hill throws in a twist that leaves you stunned — in the best way possible. The world-building is rich, the characters continue to grow in compelling ways, and every chapter leaves you hungry for the next. I honestly can’t wait to see what awaits in the next book. If you loved the first, this one will blow you away!
