I read an ARC copy of this book, my first ARC and my first time reading this series. I started of reading book 1: What Lies Beyond The Realms and I was immediately hooked. I had to find out what was going to happen with poor/sweet/innocent/naive Lyra who was way too trusting and way too sheltered. Lyra went through a lot just in the 1st book and she slowly started to learn lessons that were starting to shape her into who she would become. I was rooting for her and Nyx from the day they met.
Next I went on to read book 2: What Beats within the Tunnels. This book right here pulled me all the way in. Now I was invested and I had to know what would happen. The twists and turns, trying to figure out who was who they portrayed to be and who whether it was Nyx or Colton that would ultimately win Lyra's heart had me in the edge on my seat. Truth be told I was rooting for Nyx and had so much disdain for Colton until a little over halfway through then I was a Colton fan and wished Nyx woul ld disappear lol. Would Lyra go with who she thought she should be with "her light" as to not allow the darkness to destroy all or with the one she wanted to be with. I'm just glad I had all three books to read one after the other cause I wouldn't have been able to handle waiting so long to find out what was going to happen in the end.
Now onto the 3rd book: What Courses Through Her Blood. The back and forth with trying to decide who Lyra should be with and the surprise revelation (I won't ruin that or shall I say those for you.. 🤫😏). I read this one straight through cause I had to know what would be and who Lyra would choose. The person Lyra became in the end through all she had to endure was perfect and that ending, not just for Lyra but for them all and each realm. Ashley O'Donovan I applaud you for that. Perfect ending to a perfect story.

The trilogy’s final book packs an intense, action-filled conclusion, but Lyra’s journey here is fraught with betrayals. Her willingness to trust, especially men, feels naive given everything she’s endured, and you’ll likely find yourself wishing she would take the throne alone. O’Donovan’s storytelling hits its stride here, though some critical moments and resolutions feel rushed while less important scenes seem to drag on. Major moments—like Lyra’s time in Zomea—could have benefited from more detail, and a deeper dive into the underworld’s dynamics would have been fascinating. Honestly, a Zomea-focused novella is needed!
And how is Samael still around after three books? It’s frustrating that his defeat is still unresolved. Plus, Drew is a mystery that begs for answers—who is her mate, and why is she so connected with Colton? There was a fleeting hope she’d be Nyx’s queen until Z appeared, and now we’re left pining for a Nyx and Z extended epilogue. Similarly, Bim and Flora’s relationship is hinted at but would make a fascinating story of its own.
Oh, and let’s not forget Rhett—our sweet Lycan pack leader deserves his own arc. Maybe he’ll uncover Luke’s spirit in the underworld, reuniting with Lyra somehow? And can Lyra and Colton ever return to Eguina, or are they bound to the underworld forever? We’re left with so many lingering questions, especially about Callum’s journals. O’Donovan leaves room for spin-offs or sequels, and it’s hard not to want a “five years later” glimpse of Lyra and Colton’s life.

What a wonderful last book. My heart was shreaded soo many times and I kept hoping for things to end differently and yes, I'm a little butthurt but, truly the ending was perfect.
Lyra had so much growth through the series and I'm so proud of her and who she became. Her relationships with both Nyx and Colton were so perfectly woven together. Colton was absolutely everything, period. And Nyx? He still said and did things that irritated me but, I loved him so much, felt for him and truly kept hoping him and Lyra would find their way back together.
I love how everything tied up, the incredible battle we got, how everyone who deserved pain got theirs and those who deserved happiness, also got theirs. And so many times I thought I knew where this story was going and I was constantly surprised.

Ashley R. O'Donovan's What Lies Beyond the Realms trilogy comes to an electrifying, mind-blowing and utterly unputdownable finish with What Courses Through Her Blood, the perfect concoction of dark opulence, electrifying hot romance, and terrifying enemies! I must admit that I quite enjoyed this series! I was on the edge of my seat during the first book, and I felt wonderfully lightheaded after the second book's numerous turns! However, this third book, to put it mildly, I did not get away without suffering severe shock!

I was totally unprepared for the finale, which was a shocking turn of events that left me astonished and mind-blown! Nothing is worse than a plot that is too obvious, but fortunately, this novel keeps you wondering right up until the very end! To quench my ravenous curiosity, I'm now left wondering whether there may be a fourth installment or perhaps a spin-off - a reader can dream!!!

Lyra, the female main character, is simply outstanding! Although she avoids being whining, she is courageous and strong! She struggles with her weaknesses, though, which makes her quite supportive! I couldn't decide who of Colton and Nyx I wanted to win Lyra's heart because they are complete opposites! Every moment of the love triangle was exciting because of the intense tension between them. I also loved the supporting cast! I wanted to read more about each of them since they are all so well-developed!

I am obsessed with this series and I had such high hopes for book 3. The final book in the trilogy. While I’m so sad the series is complete, I absolutely devoured it. Lyra has awakened her dark magic and is a powerful dark sorceress. There has been a prophecy she has been trying to work out. Is she fated to be with Nyx? The light to her dark. Lyra is torn because she has fallen in love with Colton. Colton brought her back from dark times. She now has to face which brother she is destined to be with. Will her dark magic destroy everything? The world building and also the character growth is so well done. Lyra is such a fierce and strong main character and I love her. I don’t want to write any spoilers but I loved the ending. Also I love Chepi. What a wonderful companion. Thank you so much to the author for sending me an arc to read and review.

This book answered so many questions and revealed stuff we have been waiting on since book one and it sure continues the wild ride is has been taking us on too! The end of this book left me wanting more but you have to read it to understand what I mean. Hopefully, more comes from it and we see both Nyx and Drew reveal more of their stories somehow. As for Lyra and Colton, they were the only option in my head since they started getting close. I never imagined Nyx would be it for her. And her and Colton’s story ending was bittersweet for sure- they got their HEA, but still sacrificed so much to be able to live it out. I wanted them to have it all. ❤️ As for Z, well consider my mind blown. We definitely need more from that! And Drew, same goes for her- who is her mate and what is the story there?!?

This book was an ARC copy, my first time reading an ARC. I had never heard of this series or this author but I saw the signup on Facebook and wanted to give it a try. And boy am I happy I did. This final book in the trilogy was phenomenal. I went through all the emotions. Happy, sad, angry, excited, name an emotion and I likely felt it with this book , heck the whole series!!!
The twist and turns were amazing, the character development and growth was perfection. This entire Trilogy was chefs kiss!
I was surprised with the twist at the end!
I recommend this whole series and this conclusion to the trilogy!

Wow! This was my first ever ARC read. What an ending to this phenomenal trilogy. It's an ending I never saw coming and didn't now I wanted. This story keeps you hooked from the first chapter and doesn't let go until it's over. I have enjoyed Ashley's writing style and look forward to reading more of her work.

The amount of angst and uncertainty I went through was insane. I honestly felt like our FMC, Lyra not knowing what way to turn and who to trust anymore.
After two cliffhangers we are finally going to see this prophecy come to light. Whether its Colton or Nyx, the choice is up to Lyra. I don't know how she trusts her own heart after she's gone through so much lies, heartbreak and betrayal all before she turns 19. I do love how much she has come out of her shell and became the woman she is in this book. I feel like her gaining this "dark magic" is what really helped her confidence. She went from a "sheltered" princess to a commanding Queen. Now for our boys.... Nyx is always a piece of work. He's almost like a sour patch kid. Does something somewhat nice then goes and destroys it. While Colton is just trying to be supportive any way, he can even though he wants to protect Lyra. These two really are like a ying yang symbol.
Besides the love triangle of doom (my words to describe her impending decision) Ashley put ALOT of details into the little things. For example, Lyra and her men have to go up against some gnarly creatures and the amount of detail she describes them in I could picture it. Some of wish I didn't though lol. IYKYK! Even the little Pixies that live in the forest come to light or the way she describes the forest with the waterfall. It all comes out beautifully and it shows excellent writing skills in my mind.
The story takes you on an emotional ride and will tear your heart in some places. I do love how the book ended though. I know not everyone will, but I feel like it shined in the best way. Everyone got the HEA even in some unconventional ways. I do hope we can see more from this crew in the future even if it just a small novella or short stories.

I am sad to see this world and its characters come to a completion…. but it was such a great escape! I loved that book 3 had a perfect ending for the characters and their realms!

You will get pulled into Lyra’s journey of understanding her magic and her destiny…with many plot twists thrown in (all the way until the end)! You will be hooked on book 1, page 1!
The author’s descriptive language immerses you in the story. I love that. The series is wonderfully written, and the pace is good. The author promised that book 3 would keep us guessing until the very last page—not just about whether she’ll choose 𝐍𝐲𝐱 or 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧, but what her fate holds and the future of the realms… she was right! The ending was perfect.

I am sad to see this world and its characters come to a completion…. but it was such a great escape! I loved that book 3 had a perfect ending for the characters and their realms!

The ending was perfect.

Just finishing the book my immediate response was “omg best book I’ve ever read”. This ending had my heart beating incredibly fast. I was clammy, I was focused, I just couldn’t put it down. I’ve been team Colton most of the time, as a heads up 🤣

oh my gosh, I'm sobbing. This series was so good and I'm going to miss my babies so much!
I just want to take a minute to applaud Ashley for writing this AMAZING series! I loved every book and it kept getting better! I loved every character (except the bad ones of course), especially my girl, Lyra. This book was the perfect way to end this series while still keeping it open to some new series (hopefully 👀).
The first book brought me into this universe and beautiful series and I can't thank myself enough for taking the leap and reading the first book. I'm usually not a huge romantasy reader in general but something about the blurb of the first book had me HOOKED! I thought Nyx was going to be my favorite man in this series (boy was I wrong...) After reading the first book, I had to move on to the second one and that's where I found the LOML and best man ever, Colton. Colton was simply written perfectly and I instantly knew I was going to root for him in this series. This last book was bittersweet and I'm so happy we got a happy ending for these characters but I'm sad to see them go.
Overall, this series does need to be read in order. Go read this amazing series and read this book when it comes out on October 29th!

Overall, such an amazing series! I was always giddy and counting down for the releases - well worth it! ❤️ Add to your TBR right now! I was caught up and deep into this series through book one & book two! All the twists & turns, with a great balance of characters and their introductions throughout the series. Book one did such justice for the plot and world building & then book two comes when I didn't think I could get more sucked in. The mental battle with myself on who I felt should be fated for Lyra was an absolute roller coaster.

Book three was a great, "hop back in and fall in love all over again", with some extra spice! It brought some of the elements from book one and two together & complete. The first 60% of the book was smooth and hard to put down - I loved it! The ending was set-up great, but left me wanting more. I felt the ending could have been built more and concluded smoother - it did feel rushed. The structure was great and unexpected, but to see I was 97% complete with the book confused me and threw me for a loop. I would have loved to have more time with her trip to the gates and the full discoveries while she was down there.

As the conclusion to the series, the pace kicks back up and Lyra has some difficult choices to make while fighting the darkness growing within her. We discover what fate has in store and what it means for all those she wants to protect.
In this finale, we find out who is meant to be the light in Lyra's life and what her ultimate purpose is, both of which are irrevocably intertwined. To start, O'Donovan went and put me on edge right in chapter one, but of course I liked it 😆. She knows how to rope me into a book. I don't think a series has made me respond out loud as much in a while with all the "whaaats?!," "no no nos," and feet kicking. I did end up getting frustrated that no one was telling anybody anything and wanted to slap all the characters at different points in this third book, but I think making me angry actually made me more invested. I had a lot of fun with these and was happy with the conclusion. Everything was tied up nicely, and after such a turbulent series, the last line gave me all the warm fuzzies.

I have to say i loved this series. The 1st book had me on the edge of my seat the whole book . The second threw so many twists and turns i couldn’t keep my head on straight . And this 3rd book, well to say i didn’t have whiplash is an understatement. I did not see the ending happening the way it did which is always good, no one likes a predictable book !!! I’m just a little confused on if there will be a fourth or a spin-off of the series . It’s like a little cliffhagerish. I don’t want this to sway ANYONE away from this series it is so damn good . The FMC is amazing strong and not whinny but has not always so strong . The MMC’s are the polar opposites of each other and you don’t know who you want to be the victor . Or even who you like to be honest . All of the side characters are so amazing you just want to know their stories in depth and maybe thats why i still feel like i have unanswered questions, lol . I just want more of their stories . I feel like there needs to be spin-off to complete the void I’m left with after this book 🤣🤣

This has been such a fun dark romantasy series, and what a conclusion to the trilogy! I’ve enjoyed every second of it, love triangle included! This series must be read in order.

I think the author has created a really unique fantasy world in this series and I loved seeing how all the different territories interacted with each other, and watching Lyra come into her powers! What 👏 A 👏 Bad 👏 Bish 👏😍
You will definitely want to check your trigger warnings as Lyra goes through a lot in the series and it may be too much for some readers.

That ending though?! Like what?! I did not see that coming. 😱
Overall this series was hit and miss for me however, this book and the way Ashley wrapped everything up was superb and is ultimately why I rated this a four star read.
I appreciated how our FMC grew throughout the series and especially within this book. She overcame so much (that it was almost hard to keep reading in earlier books) but it only helped her grow and not only acknowledge but accept her fate.
While there was an obvious love triangle throughout most of the series, there was also an exciting plot to follow as well.
I wished there was a little more of our FMC during a particular scene however I was pleased to see her come in and save the day if you will, at the end.
What Courses Through Her Blood had all the main elements I love in a Romantasy; fated mates, shadow mommy/daddy, multiple POV. While some of the story elements felt rushed at times or left me with one main unanswered question, I’m glad I stuck with the series to see how everything tied together nicely at the end.

The final installment of What Lies Betond The Realm by Ashley R'ODonovan, What Courses Through Her Blood, was absolutely incredible. I don't think I could have asked for a more epic and absolutely perfect ending to Lyra, Colton and Nyx's story. I couldn't be more happy about the finale of this trilogy and truly hope the Ashley has more up her sleeve in the world of Eugina.
Filled with battles and war, love, hate and betrayal, What Courses Through Her Blood is an incredible ending to Lyra's story. Though I wish for more (maybe someday), I am left utterly satisfied and feel wonderfully fulfilled with how this story ended. If you love romantasy filled with beautifully done world building, characters that steal your heart and a plot that will have you on the edge of yourbseat in anticipation, I highly reccomend reading this series. Please be sure to chexk your TW, as this is a DARK Romantasy.

What Courses Through Her Blood has everything I want from a Romantasy novel, beautiful imagery, depth of plot, and characters that I will truly miss (but not for long….because I definitely see a reread in my future 😉).
O’Donovans’ growth as a writer is evident in this last book. This series just gets better the more you read - it does not fall flat like some others. & we all know I LOVE a multiple POV. Yet nothing prepared me for the wonderful yet shocking conclusion of Lyra’s (FMC) story.
Since reviews packed with spoilers are not my style, I have to end here. This is a 5 Star Read that should move to the top of your TBR! Now go read these books and add my on insta @elis.endless.tbr

Wow just wow is all i can say!
This was one of the best series I have read in a long long time. Ashley Donovan wrote an amazing fantasy romance unlike any other I have ever read. Such a unique magic system and an intense universe that pulls you in and doesn't let go. This book had me going through every emotion from crying to laughter to shock. I loved all the characters espically Lyra she is my favorite FMC she is so kind, powerful and has been through hell literally. This book had me jumping around from one magical sexy man to another, I didn't know who I wanted. In the end she ended this series in a way I didn't expect and that is a great story where it is unpredictable.Absolutely amazing writing and this story is gonna linger with me for a very long time!

The final book of the trilogy and a good way to wrap it all up. I'm not going to lie and say that at the start of the trilogy I was in love with the FMC. But watching her grow into herself and her power was a thrilling ride. Lyra has been through IT. 100%. But she comes out stronger and better in so many ways. The angst and turmoil that she faced in every turn I felt right along with her. She had some big choices to make in this final book and to begin with we really aren't sure which way it was going to go but in the end she must choose. The ending was unexpected and I definitely enjoyed that it veered in a direction I wasn't prepared for. Overall a good read and I look forward to reading others by this author.

What Courses Through Her Blood was a great wrap-up for this trilogy! This story is complete, but the ending left me wanting so much more (fingers crossed for a few spinoffs) of the other characters! I always seem to choose the wrong love interest in love triangles, and this one was the same way. Haha! I was such a sucker for Book 2 made me fall in love with Colton, and book 3 was no different! I loved both MMC's in their own little way! Lyra showed us a lot of growth and she was by far one of my favorite characters in this love story. If you love a story full of magical creatures, prophecies, a hot shadow mommy, love triangle drama, and all the spice....this one's a great read for you!

What courses through her blood is the third installment in this series. This book has been my favorite in the series. Lyra has confidence and gained a voice. She isn’t letting people around her make decisions for her.
In the midst of her character development, Eguina is still being attacked by dark beings while Kaine and Samael are doing everything they can to keep Lyra from taking the throne in her realm. With the impending war hanging over her head, she tries to learn to control her powers and determine what her midnight mind is trying to tell her.
The ending tied up a lot of the loose ends, but it felt rushed. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

I absolutely loved this series! I received an eARC. I hadn’t read the previous two and binged them right before I got this.
I loved seeing Lyra’s growth through the series. I’m glad that she learned to trust herself and embrace her dark magic. I had no idea how it was going to end but I loved it! I enjoyed that the MMCs weren’t exactly the same and liked them each for different reasons.
It was fast paced with plenty of twists. The romance and spice were on point. I’m a sucker for the MC having a pet and Chepi was absolutely adorable.
This was a great romantasy and I highly recommend. Thank you Ashely for the opportunity to be an ARC reader!
