Four muddled gifts, three interrupting kids, two purple gloves, and a Christmas on Pear Street.
LISA It’s been a busy year; a new baby making us a three-child house, sickness, work commitments, and everything else that comes with family life. After our daughter came into the world, my body didn’t recover as it had previously and now, I’m feeling anxious around my own husband, worried he’s going to resent the imperfections. I’ve planned the perfect gift that will hopefully help me feel desirable whilst getting Harry hot under the collar…but how was I supposed to know that everyone has the same damn wrapping paper and that someone would set mine under the tree?
HARRY My wife has been the perfect woman for me since the day I met her, and I’ll continue to do everything I can to try and deserve her. Recently, Lisa has been quiet and distant, and I am determined to make things better. But after discovering I don’t always say the right things last Christmas, I don’t know how to bring this up with my wife. As it turns out, there’s something very particular Lisa needs from me, and I am more than happy to give it…if only we can get a moment alone.
The bond between Lisa and Harry was absolutely everything and Lisa's struggle with self confidence after having their third baby really hit home for me, seeing Harry hype her up and worship her like she really deserves was incredible 🥹
I also loved getting to see more of Jake, Nel and the rest of the family's shenanigans! 🩵
I loved reading this story so much .. so this one is about Harry and Lisa (Nels' brother from the previous book). This book had so many things in it that a lot of women will understand, the feelings of not having the same body after childbirth, and worrying you are no longer attractive to the man you love. The story is so pure (spicy too 🔥🔥), but omg Harry is a great mmc, and does everything he can to show Lisa fmc how beautiful she is to him. It's so heartwarming to read (smexy scenes.. chefs kiss) I loved last year's Christmas book from these characters so much that I probably read it like 5 times over Christmas 🎄. I can see myself rereading both of these again over Xmas as I have more than enjoyed reading them. The MMCs in both books are what every woman dreams of. Absolutely a great read, and I would recommend you to read these books. I'm hoping there's another next year for Jakes sister. Just something about her character says she needs a happily ever after, too.. hopefully, with what was said near the end of this book😉 it will happen. All of the authors' books have been just amazing reads. Can't wait for the next books out.
MF Rediscovering Each Other Holiday Romance Found Family Romcom Witty Banter Friend to Lovers Married with Children
I absolutely adore these books. The witty banter between the main and even secondary characters is fantastic. In a very relatable way, the story of a mum and dad who truly see and love each other & rediscover their passion after the arrival of their third child. Wonderful read.
Beautiful 😍 purple gloves had the Christmas aspect, the smut! It gave me all the feels. So happy to have the chance to read about Lisa & Harry’s story! Loved this, cute perfect read!
Absolutely loved Harry and Lisa's story it was funny and so true to life I could imagine a married couple feeling like this. Loved the banter Loved the spice Wish is it was longer
Cutesy. Lots of “husband” and “wife”. The basis of the wife who feels like her body changed after having kids and not feeling sex. But obvi her husband loves her even more. No real tension building. Just cock blocking kids.
Harry and lisa have been together since collage now with three kids and 13 years married. lisa feels insecure in how she looks and also they never get time alone. They tell how they actually met on Christmas. AT a party during his last year at university. They play a game of beer pong if he won he was going to take her to his room for an hour. And he did. But he didn’t do it to be a creep. He offered to do whatever she wants even play a game of backgammon. It was lisa who asked if she could touch him. And he basically told her he wasn’t fu king her because he wanted to have her come back for more. And then gave her the orgasms in an hour. Lisa and Harry haven’t been intimate in almost a year. And that’s what the problem is. Lisa is self conscious. Harry even listens to spicy romance audiobooks after he caught her having an orgasm to one lol. Turns out after the first night they met Harry took her purple satin gloves and made her promise to text him everyday and he took pictures of the gloves. Jake’s sister and mom and dad come for Christmas. They find out that Jake’s sister and her husband are separated. He cheated on her and has another girl pregnant. Lisa surprises Harry with boudoir photos that Nel took of her Nel and Jake surprise the family that their offer on a house up the street got accepted and now they’re going to live on the same block as her brother and his wife Nel and Jake surprise them with their hotel room for Christmas night and they make good use out of it the next year Nel and Jake host Christmas Jake’s sister Mandy had moved her and the kids to a house on the block as well.

Two Purple Gloves by H.R. Lloyd is a delightful holiday romance that perfectly captures the chaotic, tender, and oh-so-real life of a married couple balancing family, love, and all the surprises that come with it. This book had me laughing, tearing up, and nodding along as Lisa and Harry, a busy couple with three kids, try to rekindle their spark amid the usual holiday mayhem.
Lisa’s journey of rediscovering her confidence and wanting to feel desirable after a tough postpartum experience is written with such honesty. Her anxieties around her body and her hopes for a special Christmas gift for Harry add a touch of vulnerability that made her so relatable. Meanwhile, Harry’s unwavering devotion to Lisa—despite not always knowing the right words—makes him the sweetest husband, navigating his own worries about being a good partner.
The humor in this story is spot-on, especially as Lisa’s “perfect” gift plan goes hilariously awry thanks to identical wrapping paper and the inevitable mix-ups of family life. Lloyd captures those tender, fleeting moments that every couple knows: stolen glances, quiet assurances, and the warmth that even a pair of purple gloves can bring.
If you're in the mood for a heartfelt, laugh-out-loud holiday read that reminds you of the beauty in life’s imperfections, Two Purple Gloves will leave you smiling long after the last page. It’s a story about love, patience, and finding magic in the everyday moments—perfect for cozying up with this Christmas!
I have to say, I hated Harry in And A Partridge on Pear Street
Harry and Lisa's love story was masterfully written, with flashbacks and well-timed segments that propelled the narrative forward and gradually answered lingering questions, deepening the emotional impact as the book progressed.
I especially appreciate how Nel and Jake are portrayed as reflecting how many of us childfree adults truly are—real people, not baby-hating trolls. I love that they maintain their independence and strength in Two Purple Gloves without the tired stereotypes, and the ongoing references to their child-free status were a refreshing touch.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this story and all of its characters. I want to be a part of this family so much it hurts! Is it possible to experience FOMO towards fictional characters?
Let’s start at the beginning - that dedication set the perfect tone for this book. I’ve never read a story about a married couple like this before, so it was a nice change. Since I’ve been with my husband for over 12 years now (high school sweethearts, woop woop), I can deeply relate to the fmc’s concerns, which makes Lisa feel very real and relatable.
But what really made this book IT for me, was all the flashback scenes we got of how the leads first met. HOLY SMOKES!! Those scenes had my heart racing and my stomach filled with butterflies!🫠😵💫
“Come on then, Frosty. You have one hour to impress me.”
Do you hear that noise?🤔 Sorry, it’s just me BARKING at my e-reader!!🐕
Besides, who doesn’t love it when a mmc does his… ’scientific research’ by listening to some spicy audiobooks?👀
If you’re a fan of the ”my wife” trope, look no further! This is IT folks! This is the story for you😌
I highly recommend this book to anyone that’s looking for a fun, fast-paced and spicy read to get you into the holiday spirit!
I thought this was an adorable holiday read that totally captures the chaos and sweetness of family life, while also diving deep into personal insecurities and the beauty of love.
Lisa, dealing with postpartum body image struggles and anxieties about her marriage, plans a "perfect" Christmas gift for her husband, Harry, only for everything to go hilariously wrong. The mix-up with identical wrapping paper and the chaos of family life was super relatable, and the humor made it all the more charming. Harry, her devoted husband, is the sweetest—trying his best to be the perfect partner, even when he doesn't always get it right.
Their relationship is heartwarming, and the way Lloyd weaves in flashbacks to their early days adds such a lovely layer to their connection. The purple gloves? Totally symbolic of the little moments that matter the most.
It’s cute, funny, and emotionally real. Honestly, this book’s a perfect cozy holiday read! Even if you haven't read the first one, you’ll still be hooked.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
🎄 Married Couple 🎅🏻 Christmas Themed 🎄 MCs in their 30’s 🎅🏻 Big Family Christmas 🎄 Swoon worthy romance 🎅🏻 Witty banter
Two Purple Gloves by H.R. Lloyd is a Christmas romance set on Pear Street, following Lisa and Harry, a married couple juggling the chaos of family life, including the arrival of their third child. Lisa feels anxious about her body after childbirth and hopes to rekindle intimacy with Harry by giving him a special gift. Meanwhile, Harry is determined to understand and reconnect with his wife. Misunderstandings and Christmas mishaps create humorous and heartwarming moments as they try to find time for each other amidst family interruptions.
I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book. I knew I would because A Partridge on Pear Street was equally as fantastic! Harry and Lisa have a swoon worthy love for each other! I was counting down the minutes until I got off work to be able to read more of this book!
I really liked this one! I haven’t read the first one but felt like that was totally okay and not a problem jumping into the story.
The book revolves around Harry and Lisa who’s been married for quite some time. They have three children together, and after her last one, she’s been feeling “off” and struggles with her self-confidence. Their relationship is seriously goals in many ways (minus the communication struggles – but that only makes this book more realistic). I had a hard time putting this one down, and really felt with Lisa in this one. Harry adores his wife and will do anything for her. Love it!
I felt like I was a part of the book while reading it – in the best way! We really got into the family dynamic here with the story being over a few days at Christmas. Definitely a recommended read from me! Thank you to the author for letting me read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
Back to Pear Streer for another fun & fruity Christmas novella from one of my autoread authors, H.R. Lloyd. Following Nel’s big brother this time, it did not disappoint!
15yrs together & Harry adores his wife more than ever but Lisa is suffering with the insecurities around the changes of having 3 children. With the help of friend’s & family plus a frank discussion (& spicy audio books), sparks fly. And it turns out sweet & supportive Harry has a wickedly dirty mouth on him, much to his wife’s delight!
I love how Hannah’s characters are so relatable! I can definitely feel for Lisa but seeing how desperately desired she is by her husband was heartwarming! How they try to get “alone” time in a house full of kids & guests was hilarious, particularly the interruptions. There’s so much chemistry & lots of laughs along the way. This book is definitely one of those comfy cosy reads with the added addition of some hot spice! Love it!!
I loved this book! I won't lie, Harry wasn't my favourite person after And A Partridge on Pear Street, but my fickle heart changed its mind after 2 pages. I loved the flashbacks to how Harry and Lisa met. I loved seeing them navigate life as a family whilst trying to keep their intimacy alive. As a C-section mummy, this book gripped my heart and mirrored all of my own thoughts and body worries over the years since having my babies. Lisa's insecurities felt like mine, so seeing her grow in confidence and love her body was magical. 5 stars. It deserves more. Lots of spice, lots of love and a sprinkle of Christmas ❤️
Wow!! H.R. Lloyd sure knows how to get you in all the feels. Two Purple Gloves was probably the most heartwarming Romance book I've read.
I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. This book takes you on an emotional journey while also giving you the much needed spice you look for in a Romance book.
For me personally this book hit a little close to home, I love how H.R. Lloyd isn't afraid to write what some people might find uncomfortable, and heartbreaking, or how some women actually feel about themselves. Yet she does an amazing job.
This book definitely needs to be shared and read by everyone!! I can't wait to read what H. R. Lloyd releases next!
I love Lisa’s and Harry’s story and that you get a bit of background into how they meet. Also loved the fact at that there was more about being comfy with your body. Love how this captured in the book with how Lisa feels about her body after having 3 kids. I think a lot of people would relate to this.
I found myself laughing a lot at Harry and Jake with their banter.
This book is truly scrumptious, and the perfect Christmas read.
Themes: Mcs Married couple Fantastic spicy seasons On point banter
A wonderful Christmas romance from H. R. Lloyd. Following Lisa and Harry, a married couple hosting a large family Christmas, while juggling a new baby and the chaos of day to day family life. We see Lisa battling relatable post partum body issues, a theme that is beautifully and accurately discussed, and the couple addressing miscommunication and intimacy issues.
Full of witty banter and plenty of spicy scenes, this cozy Christmas romance is the perfect read this season.
Absolutely adored this cutesy Christmas themed book! The writing in this book was easy to read, I really got into it from the moment I started and it was difficult to put down. Lisa suffers with insecurities due to body changes but her husband does everything he can to show her he loves her all the same. The relationship between the main characters is so heart warming, flashbacks to when they first met gave me that much more of an understanding of how their relationship was built and how they started loving each other. I loved the family dynamics and banter.
I loved this story so much! Book one in this holiday series was absolutely scrumptious, and you meet the main characters in this story - married couple, Harry and Lisa.
I think what I love most about the way Lloyd writes is that its real problems and concerns that every day people go through. The struggles Lisa had and the worries of Harry were so relatable, making these characters easy to read.
Oh and that spice. Shew! I'm here for that, too. Hoping to have triple of that in the next book 😉
I laughed, melted, and got teary-eyed throughout this book. The story, heart-felt moments, and steaminess were wonderfully balanced
The characters are wholesome, and I want to be part of this friend/family group. I did not want to take breaks from the story and was so happy when I was able to immerse myself into it again.
Such an amazing addition to this series 👏 I cannot wait to see what H.R. Lloyd does next 😍
Oh my do I love this book, it is so easy to identify with the FMC and you really feel her emotions and thoughts in this one, and Harry the mmc is wonderful, he is just what is needed to help boost her confidence and show her that love in every gesture, the spice I. This one is 🔥🔥 which is to be expected with this author as she is a lover of a little smut.
Highly recommend as a quick fun, festive read to start your Christmas off.
What a fantastic sequel to A Partridge on Pear Street. If you are looking for a Christmas book then look no further.
Harry and Lisa’s story was amazing. You first meet these 2 in book one and I honestly can say I did not like Harry that much. However he redeems himself in this book and wow he has a filthy mouth.
The banter in this book is top notch. The flashbacks to how they met are so well placed and give a great insight into the relationships in the book.
This story was an amazing start to the Christmas season! I love the realistic story about Lisa and Harry. It was so satisfying to hear how they met, and to see how they’ve come back together again after three kids and some insecurities! It’s relatable, heartwarming, funny, and a cozy holiday read! I definitely recommend!

I had the privilege of reading this book before the release! It was a very cute story of a married couple. They had some communication challenges in the beginning but overcame them. I LOVED the flashback scenes to when they first met. The characters were easy to love with just enough spice! Definitely want to read the rest in the series and can’t wait for more on the other characters.
I read this and fell in love with Harry and Lisa and their 15 year marriage. Having them reminiscing about their meeting was so much fun. Yes it was a spicy start. 😉 Set at Christmas surrounded by the kids and extended family, now it's about finding their spicy time 15 years into the marriage. Loved it. I hope to see some more stories set on Pear Street.
*My review has disappeared so I’m re-writing it now!*
The second instalment of A Pear Street Christmas and this time following Harry and Lisa. Girls if you hated Harry in ‘And a Partridge on Pear Street’ well let me tell you this book will change your opinion on him.
LISA has been feeling more body conscious since baby no. 3 and is letting these insecurities make her believe that her husband won’t find her as attractive anymore.
HARRY has picked up on Lisa being more reserved but is worried that he’s done something to cause this and doesn’t really know how to approach her with it.
Turns out there’s just been a whole lot of miscommunication and they both actually just want/ need the same thing… 😏
As a busy mum of 2 who also struggles with body insecurities after having kids it was really great reading a book with a FMC that I could relate to so much! There’s as much spice (if not more) than the first one however I did feel like it lacked in storyline a bit and I think I still prefer Nel & Jake’s story. BUT saying that it is just a short novella set over the couple of days before and after Christmas while Harry and Lisa are hosting their whole family so there’s not really time for there to be a great big storyline.
If you’re looking for a short, spicy Christmas book with lots of cosy vibes then definitely pick this up this winter!
3.5 ⭐️
Thank you to H R Lloyd for letting me have an ARC of this book! 😊 also I have a hunch what the next one will be called already 😏
This is the backstory to Harry & Lisa and it was just fab! It flits from backstory to present time and it was just a sweet little story with a lot of spice!
