The world tells us to hurry up and get what we want. God tells us to rest—and trust in His timing. Discover practical ways to place your “meanwhile” season in the hands of a faithful God.
We experience longing in every season of life, whether we ache for a spouse or a child, for healing in brokenness, or for clearer direction in our calling. As Rebecca George reminds us in this highly relevant message, we can fall into resentment about what we lack—or we can see our unmet desires as an invitation to draw closer to a trustworthy God.
Offering a gospel-centered approach to faithful living, You’re Not Too Late includes:
wisdom for how to bring our disappointments to God real-life ideas for dealing with envy, isolation, and doubt insights into finding contentment, no matter our circumstances step-by-step ways to turn from sinful thought patterns to life-giving habit prayer prompts, discussion questions, Scripture for reflection, and accompanying online videos
With the compassion of someone who similarly struggles, Rebecca presents a comprehensive approach to waiting that doesn’t deny our desires but teaches us how to commit them to the care of our Savior.
What I adored about this book is how the author’s gentle spirit and kindness just radiate off the page 💗 She thoughtfully explores all the different ways we can feel like we're falling behind—then lovingly walks us through those feelings, chapter by chapter.
I especially appreciated her use of quotes from renowned writers and pieces of scripture—they added such a tender and thoughtful touch. It also opens the door to other beautiful readings for anyone who wants to go deeper.
Overall, this book felt like a warm hug. It's encouraging, heartening, and something I’d absolutely recommend to anyone going through a season of waiting.
I didn't particularly enjoy this. (Mostly because the writing style didn't click with me, and it also just wasn't quite what I expected. I wouldn't say someone shouldn't read it if they're interested.) But I read this book while lying on the floor due to terrible sciatica problems, and in the last chapter, while listing bad things that will be gone in the new heavens and the new earth, the author included nerve pain. I appreciate God's timing of that moment of making me feel seen. <3
As a divorced now remarried Christian woman navigating life’s uncertainties, I often feel caught in the tension between the pain of past loss and the hope of a redeemed future. Rebecca George’s "You’re Not Too Late" speaks directly to this tension with grace, vulnerability, and profound biblical insight.
The heart of this book is about trusting God’s timing in a world that constantly urges us to hurry up and meet milestones. Rebecca weaves together her own stories of longing, heartache, and hope, grounding them in scriptural truths. As someone who has walked through the unexpected end of a marriage, I found her candid reflections on despair, surrender, doubt, and idolatry deeply relatable and comforting.
One of the most powerful aspects of this book is how Rebecca dismantles the lie that our joy is tethered to the fulfillment of our desires. She doesn’t shy away from the reality that waiting can feel excruciating. Yet, instead of offering empty platitudes, she guides the reader through a process of finding joy in Christ alone, even when life doesn’t unfold as planned.
In particular, her chapter on "Despair and Joy" struck a chord. Rebecca’s story of hiking through pain and longing while seeking God’s peace reminded me of my own journey—where I often find solace in nature, trying to quiet the voices that tell me I am too late for love, happiness, or purpose. Her reminder that our ultimate joy is rooted in our relationship with God, not in our circumstances, was a gentle but much-needed nudge to refocus my heart.
She points us back to the truth that God’s plans are often far better and different than what we might envision. I found her words both challenging and liberating.
Rebecca’s writing style is conversational yet rich with wisdom. She doesn’t shy away from the hard questions—like why it seems God answers some prayers and not others. The practical exercises at the end of each chapter helped me not just to read but to reflect deeply on how to surrender my desires to God’s will.
For any Christian woman who has felt overlooked, too late, or left behind—whether in relationships, career, or personal dreams—this book offers not just encouragement but a roadmap to rediscovering joy and purpose in Christ. Rebecca George’s transparency makes her a relatable guide through the valleys of unmet expectations.
"You’re Not Too Late" is more than just a book—it’s a companion for the journey of trusting God when life doesn’t look the way we hoped. I would highly recommend it to women who are grappling with disappointment or wondering if their best days are behind them. Rebecca’s message is clear: in God’s economy, you’re never too late for His good plans.
In You're Not Too Late: Trusting God's Timing in a Hurry-Up World, Rebecca George offers thoughtful encouragement for those who wonder if they’ve missed their moment. With relatable stories and practical insights, she invites readers to pause and consider how God’s timing might look different from their own. Chapter 8, in particular, spoke directly to my struggle of living in a constant state of hurry. She describes how it’s easy to convince ourselves that we’re managing life just fine, even as we rush from one thing to the next without slowing down long enough to reflect or turn to God. One quote that struck me was, “When hurry is your disease, achievement is your medicine.” That simple statement helped me see how I often equate busyness with purpose, believing that productivity determines my worth.
George also breaks down three kinds of hurry, and I resonated most with what she calls “continual hurry.” It’s that familiar feeling of always being on the go, rarely pausing to rest or check in with how we’re really doing. She gently challenges the idea that we’re trusting God when our actions suggest we’re relying more on our own strength than on Him. Her words reminded me that constant motion can often be a distraction from what God might want to reveal or heal within us.
This chapter left me with plenty to reflect on, and I’m grateful for the practical encouragement Rebecca offers for those of us who struggle to slow down. If you’ve ever felt like you’re always racing through life or using busyness as a shield, You're Not Too Late is a powerful reminder that God’s timing is never too late for the things that matter most.
This is a really good read. And it was definitely needed in the season that I am in right now. How many of us think we're too late in life? And we're not. God is working behind the scenes. When I started this book, I was like, "omg!" Because it's literally things I have been struggling with. I have such this big desire to be married and have a small family, but I start thinking I'm getting too late in life because I'm thirty-five. But God has a different plan for all of us. I believe I will be married one day, but right now, God is working through me with other things. We try to rush things, hence, "Trusting God's Timing in a Hurry-Up World." And we don't need to rush. God is a good God, he knows what we need and our wants. And I keep believing in due season, I will reap the harvest. But we do need to stop making things we want an idol. Stop putting it first and above God. Put God first and continue living for Him. I just loved everything Rebecca was talking about in the book, and I feel we can all relate to it as well. I also loved reading how her and her husband met. 🥰
Some quotes- "Getting the thing we want will never be enough. Almost immediately upon the realization of one goal, another desire will emerge. This is a by-product of our hurry-up world.
"Whatever desire you're chasing, it can easily become an idol when you worship the idea of your hoped-for outcome."
"Anything we place our hope in apart from Christ will cleave under the pressures of a hurry-up world."
I'm really enjoying You're Not Too Late—I read the first 70 pages in one sitting because it was so engaging and spoke directly to my heart and my own struggles. The concept of entrusting the deep longings of our heart to God, trusting Him with the timing, and holding fast to hope in the process is a message that deeply resonates with me.
From the moment I saw the title, I knew this was a book I needed to read. And it’s lived up to every expectation. The book is warm, honest, and encouraging. Each chapter thoughtfully explores the emotional and spiritual challenges we face when God asks us to wait—offering biblical insight, personal stories, and gentle reminders that His timing is both good and purposeful.
If you're in a season of waiting, wrestling with doubt, or simply longing for reassurance that God hasn't forgotten you, this book will meet you right where you are.
I read this book in two days, which is the fastest I've finished a nonfiction book in a good long while! Rebecca's real-life examples are raw and relatable, and I appreciate the reflections at the end of each chapter that point back to Biblical truth.
Specifically, my heart resonated with messages about continual hurry and frustration at feeling like a beginner, but there were so many nuggets and nudges to surrender my insecurities, discouragement, and hopes to God on a continual basis. I even snapped photos of a few pages to reference when I'm on the go.
I finished the book with a stronger belief that, despite my doubts, I can rest secure that I'm right where I'm supposed to be when I let God lead.
Rebecca George has written a true gem! Each chapter explores a relatable challenge. For example, Doubt & Hope, Despair & Joy, Fear & Confidence, to name a few. The author shares a story addressing each topic, biblical insights, a case study for further exploration as well as personal reflection questions. There's also online video access corresponding with each chapter in which the author shares further insight. This book is perfect for Bible study groups or Book Clubs. You will learn that "when we surrender our stories to God's care,he will craft them into something beyond what we could've dreamt up ourselves." (page 41). If you find yourself in a waiting season of life or feeling that it's too late for you to meet a life goal, pick up this book and you will be encouraged!!
It’s been hard for me to trust God in a few specific areas of life that feel clouded by what feels like the unfairness of unmet longing. This book helped guide me through a process of surrender all over again, but it enabled me to address some facets of my grief that I didn’t even realize I was overlooking. Rebecca is empathetic and wise, and her words point me to a Father who can provide even more comfort and refuge. I believe the plans He has for my future are good. But more than anything, I hope they draw me closer to Him as I press on toward eternity. This book was a reminder that if I am with God, I am right on time and right where I need to be.
I’m so excited for more women to go from despair to joy, idolatry to surrender, and resentment to redemption as God uses this book! This message has shown me the idol of “success” in my own heart, encouraged me as I wait for my daughter’s arrival, and navigate writing rejection! He doesn’t withhold good from us, friend. And more than the blessings we long for, our identity is unshakable in Him always. Grab this biblical book on seasons of longing today, and be encouraged that you’re not too late for your own life. 🤎
I didn't escape the intro without tears and a feeling of being seen. Rebecca knows how to write exactly to the heartache we feel in our longings. She covers it all, and offers hope for each of the griefs we carry -- and then asks practical questions to help move us into alignment with God's perspective and scriptural truths. The longings we feel make sense, but what if we can adopt new strategies and discover a deeper understanding of how to examine the longings -- and still believe in God's good plans? There is hope and more of HIM waiting inside our longings. So, so good.
This isn't just another book - it's an entire practice in leaning in and trusting God when everything in you (and around you) may point to reasons why you shouldn't. Rebecca is a gifted storyteller and meets you with scripture in those "me too?" and "not again..." moments that have you questioning everything. I've never seen a book have video accompaniments to bring each chapter to life, too - so thoughtfully and well done!
Rebecca’s book is such a well of encouragement for those of us who worry it’ll never be our turn, that we’ve been forgotten, left out, or overlooked. Her compelling stories, Biblical advice, and insightful questions are the right companion for those of us who need encouragement and a way forward in our waiting. This book would make an excellent resource for small groups—I’m already thinking of what women I can gather to read through this with!
This book is a great message about trusting in God’s timing! It’s so hard, especially in the world we live in today. I love how interactive this book is and the reflections! Also, the book is an easy read! If you’re feeling behind in life, doubting, or questioning, You’re Not Too Late is the perfect reminder you need! His plan IS good!
This book is perfect for anyone who has wondered if they were forgotten by God, missed their chance, misheard God's direction, or are just weary in the waiting. Rebecca has a beautiful way of coming alongside you and encouraging you - because she has been there herself. This book came at just the right time for me and I believe it's the right time for many women out there!
This book was exactly what I needed in this season of life. Rebecca's wisdom and relatability point us to the Truth in such a powerful and practical way. Now, in the waiting and the longing, I see a deeper purpose in the now, but not yet. I'm so grateful for every word, Scripture, and tool she provides for us.
The book is full of hope and practical ways to dig into scripture and notice where my heart is as I wait. It came out at a perfect season in my life—it’s just what I needed.
I love the reflection questions and case studies at the end of each chapter. I loved how each chapter was anchored in the prayer in Psalm 139:23-24.
I love how honest and relatable this book is! Every woman I've ever known has struggled through seasons of waiting and wishing for more. This book offers practical stories, relevant scriptures, insightful reflection questions, thoughtful prayers, and accessible online videos. All in one book?! YES, PLEASE. It's designed well for personal growth, and it would be amazing as a small group study!
I would have given it 5 stars if I had the physical book. The audible was ok but this type of book you need the physical book because it has links to videos that helps you with the book.
Other than that I got alot of information from the book. Looking forward to reading it again with the physical book.
I LOVED this book. The message was rock solid, and I loved Rebecca’s balance between story telling and Bible teaching. This is a great read for anyone who is struggling to accept where they are because they are longing for something else. She speaks to many different situations, and handles each with such compassion.
Rebecca writes with honesty, compassion, and uplifting insight. Her book challenged me to let go of my own expectations and embrace the timing God has for my life. It’s an essential read for any woman struggling with feelings of inadequacy or fears of being behind.
My friend Rebecca's heart for her readers is so evident in these pages! She has done a beautiful job of weaving together her own story and the wisdom of Scripture to create a soft place to land for those feeling behind. This is such an encouraging book.
Rebecca meets us right where we are in the message of this book. If you struggle with trusting God's timing and comparing your journey with others, then take some time and sit with Rebecca in the words she shared and let her remind you who you are in Christ. This is a MUST READ!
