In Virginia, 1883, some things you can run from ... some you have to fight.
Pauline Ray is on the run with very little money and two small children. She has no idea of how she'll hide her tracks, much less support her family, but desperation prevails, and she flees as far as she can, ending up in Green Valley, Virginia, and at the doorstep of two wise and witty sisters. April May and Cessie Blue take her under their wing and help her adopt a new identity, that of Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Greenway, which just happens to come with a neighboring property and a rundown cottage. In a small town full of watchful eyes and wagging tongues, one man, Jeremy Sheffield, watches her with more than judgment. Jeremy had all but quit on living, but the pretty new widow in town stirs something deep inside him that spurs him to action. Pauline would never have considered his scandalous proposal, but Lizzie might just dare to accept him, his love, his hard work, and his dark secrets. But how long can dark secrets stay hidden? Hers or his.

This was a beautiful story!!! I really loved the two main characters and all of their friends and families. There was less violence in this book than there was in book one of the series. Thank you, Ms. Shoup, for this great story!!!
