The murder of a marquis, an accidental kidnapping, an elite vampire death squad, and a beast stalking the French countryside? All in a day’s work for a member of les Dames Dangereuses.

As the most enviable comtesse of the tonne, Charlotte de Brionne was almost satisfied with her wealth, power, and tepid marriage, until her murderous husband betrayed her.

Now she has seized the chance to make a more adventurous start with les Dames Dangereuses, an order of lady spies serving the French crown. Unfortunately, her latest assignment is rudely interrupted when she is kidnapped by a crossbow-wielding soldier, who happens to be rather surly and annoyingly handsome.

Lieutenant Antoine de Valle has no idea what to make of the exasperating, untrustworthy, and frustratingly beautiful woman he’s suddenly saddled with, but his honor demands he see to Charlotte's safety. Especially since it's his fault she witnesses him murder a marquis, lands on the wrong side of a brutal vampire death squad, and narrowly survives an encounter with the Beast of Gévaudan.

In fact, the more Antoine tries to keep Charlotte safe, the more trouble they find themselves in. And the longer their journey lasts, the harder it is for Antoine to remember his honor in the face of Charlotte’s dangerous charms.

The Agent and the Outlaw

The murder of a marquis, an accidental kidnapping, an elite vampire death squad, and a beast stalking the French countryside? All in a day’s work for a member of les Dames Dangereuses.

This is the second book in the Vampires in Versailles series This is an enemies to lovers werewolf romance. This story follows Charlotte and Antoine.

Charlotte her newest assignment is to kill the Marquis de Sade, everything is planned but sometimes plans go awry, this one certainly did. A masquerade ball was supposed to be the perfect setting for the kill Charlotte dressed as cupid would lure Sade outside and strangle him making it appear it was an act that went too far, perfect, until an arrow pierced Sade’s heart and the shooter decided to kidnap her.

Antoine de Valle killed Sade as revenge for the deaths of his nephew and his sister. Sade tortured his nephew to death and his sister killed herself, just one of many reasons this sadist needed to die. When he saw charlotte, he mistook her for a young boy and was worried that with her fake arrows she would be blamed for the death, so he was rescuing her not knowing what he was getting himself into.

The relationship between Charlotte and Antoine grows but each time he is faced with the opportunity to protect her she is the one doing the protecting. Charlotte is an amazing character, spunky, take no prisoners attitude and a woman who wants what she wants and doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. She proves that women are equal to any man and her mouth has no filter.

I would highly recommend this series it’s a good and quick read I love that it takes place before the French Revolution so it has that old world history feel with supernatural creatures. I can’t wait to see what happens next in book three.

Supernatural creatures? A simmering attraction? A snarky FMC and a scarred MMC who just needs love? You’ve got it ALL right here with the Agent and the Outlaw!

I freaking loved this book so much.

What I loved:
-Charlotte-I love that she gets more depth in this book and I absolutely love her personality! So spunky.
-Antoine-Definitely had me hooked from the first time he was on page 🫠 He just wants someone to love him and to love in return 😘
-The plot-I thought this book was a tad lighter than the first book and I liked that this work was easy to follow along with. I really love that it’s set in late 18th century France!
-The spice-Well written…could have been more but I liked heaping amounts of spice in my books so don’t go by me there 😜

What I would’ve liked…
-More time with them sharing a horse (It’s my favorite trope ever)

If you like…
⚔️Mistaken identity
🖤Enemies to reluctant allies to lovers
⚔️Kidnapping (kinda)
🖤One horse
⚔️One bed
🖤I want to trust you but I can’t
⚔️Hurt/comfort

Then read the Agent and the Outlaw ASAP!

This was so good! I loved the new elements introduced into a well-loved monster trope. The action was great, and the romance was excellent. The push and pull, and the will they won't they between the characters kept me interested until the end.
The final epilogue with was fantastic. I didn't want it to end. Now, I'm looking forward to The Doctor and The Devil.

The story of Charlotte takes center stage in a way that is linear, yet full of the machinations of a France with vampires, werewolves, and humans. Charlotte is outgoing, sassy , and a super talented agent. Antoine is deemed an outlaw for leaving the military run by his father. His past strongly determines his actions, and the relationship that evolves with Charlotte has its ups and downs. This is a very well written book with a strong plot, engaging dialogue, and astute observations of life.

I was so happy to see Charlotte get her own story! She was such a great side character in book one! I really enjoy the almost rom-com vibes these books give with a side of the supernatural. The banter between her and Antoine was superb plus the tension made it even better. It kept me interested and was a quick read.

Really gave me brotherhood of the wolf vibes with the beast of gevaudan plots. Funny cause I just watched that movie again the night before I started this book! Once again an absolutely amazing book with fun charachters and more to it than just the romance (which i think this had just the right amt of!!). Great book!! Cannot wait for the next one!
