In this world there’s two kinds of people, my friend. Those who stand firm, and those who lay down and die.
Connor Mills is just trying to make a good life in a world he wasn’t born to. He may have broken the goblins’ hold over his town, but the fight isn’t over.
The shadowy patron of the fallen goblin tycoon is out for revenge, and Connor has much more to lose now. His ranch is back on its feet, but the forces that rule Faerie aren’t done with him.
When the bounty hunters come calling and darker things raise their heads, Connor must find allies to protect the people he holds dear – and take a risk that may cost him everything.
Because even in Faerie, you can only push a good man so far.
Red Elf Ranch 2 is an isekai fantasy adventure in the theme of classic Western pulp cinema.

Not quite as good as the first one. That is to be expected in most cases. The first one is completely new and we are discovering the world, the magic system and everything else. The second book is much harder. You need the balance of keeping what you have in the first book that is good but also pushing the envelope a little bit. That is hard to do. If you just focus on what worked in the first book, there is not much new and exciting. If you try to push things in the second book, you may lose what worked so well in the first one. This one didn't push as much as I would have liked. The MC arrived in a new world and found out he was an artificer in the first book. He also had some weird connection with the wolf that came across with him. He had to defend himself and his women from "the bad guy". Okay great, that was the first book.
In this book it was kind of just more of the same. The MC really didn't push his magic much until the end and even then it was only a little and had more to do with the beast part of his powers. He did expand his harem, which is always nice but it can't be the only thing. The bad guy? In this one it is the sorcerer who helped the bad guy in the first book. I still can't get a good grasp of why this was such an issue and Conner needed to be dealt with. Overall though, it was still enjoyable.
My problem with gun stories, is that it’s very easy for things to end up feeling like plot armor. When the mc manages to eek out of three ambushes in a row, starts to drag on my sense of disbelief. The antagonist getting the mc ends up feeling like a lack of motivation, it should be easy to ambush someone with guns, even a wizard, eventually. They don’t have magic skin, so just one lucky shot and someone important should get hit. All the good gun stories have enough deaths to drive home the sense that any second could be the last, but with this one is more slice of life in everything else, just odd juxtaposition. Also tail brushing seems to have become a fetish I was unaware of...so still lots of good chemistry that you’ve come to expect from this author. I’m hoping that we get some kind of larger plot or more likely it’s just one more left.
Yet another fantastic tale from the talented Mr. Dalton. The pace never slows down or drags and the developing relationships between Connor, the town and the girls keep things... spicy.
More than that though, I really appreciated the origin cameo of Zane and Randolph and how they came to meet Finandrous from Dark City Girls. I know that a lot of Mr. Dalton's stories have a "loose" overlap, but if you liked DCG (which I know I did), then you'll likely also appreciate the further extrapolation of their narrative as well.
Well done and I'm counting the days until #3 is out!
Michael Dalton has the skill to not only tell a great story but to give it life. This second book in the series is an excellent example of his skills. His characters are three dimensional with believable personalities, feelings and desires. They are not perfect, but become real and provide the reader with a world view they can relate to and enjoy. This is a series worth reading.
An engaging wild west meets faere adventure with plenty of eroticism
An engaging and easy read where the wild west meets faere. Ranching and gunfighting go along with sorcery and artificing. The MC leans into his aether control and is also discovering that he has an affinity for attracting beast-kin. As with most of the author's tales, this one is well written, with interesting characters.
Alternate universe, parallel worlds, fantasy races, save the ranch, harem adult situations
Connor has his hands full fending off night flyers attacking the ranch, convincing the wolf pack to let Cecilia move in with Connor, reassuring Gwyneth about her place, and dealing with bounty hunters gunning for him. And then there's Natasha.
Excellent editing. Fun and quick read yet still nearly three hundred pages. And book 3 is planned. I'm in!
This is a great second novel of the Red Elf Ranch!
What a great follow-up to Red Wolf Ranch. I loved the storyline and the characters as they develop. It is an exciting and amorous read that will keep you reading way past your bedtime. I eagerly look forward to the third novel in this series
I have very much enjoyed this series, along with several others from this author & the audible versions have been just as good. While the mystery deepens, we get to the crux of the relationships, but it seems more is in the works & I look forward to the next book!
This was an enjoyable second of the series, albeit a long time coming but I'd say worth it. The MC continues to grow and evolve, the setting is excellent as well as the story. It's spicy without being raunchy and it's good seeing the characters growing. Well with reading and I'll wait for the next volume as well.
OMG the crossover and the overall storyline is Awesome
As things advance and Connor continues trying to improve things on the Ranch it appears the “Fates” have much more planned. With Zane’s appearance the connections solidify and we have us a humdinger of a connected story. Loved every word. NEXT!!
This fantasy beast-kin, harem, Western is well written and fast-paced enough to keep you engaged, but the details are not lacking. Love the book and the series.
4.5 stars. Loses .5 for a bit too much sex/story, but I like the characters and the story. This has good potential for a few more books, and the fey wilds provides lots of options for interesting beasties and magic, so on to book 3, as soon as it gets here.
Great world building and character development who h the author is well known for!!! Unique magic and explanations of fantasy life mixed into an old West western!!!
Was already a big fan of this author so was an easy choice to check out this series. And it doesn’t disappoint at all book 2 takes everything from book 1 and keeps it going in a great way. Can’t wait for the next one.
Well things are progressing fast for Conner especially with the final revelation. But it find out you will need to read the book! This is a worthwhile read, with well written characters, A well paced story with action and adventure. On to book three!
I love the humble “old fashioned” nature of Connor. I personally wish the world still was still like that, honestly. The story line is interesting and keeps drawing me in. Great work! Please keep it up Sir!
The harem is growing with another waiting. A fun enjoyable read. No status reports on power and skills. Just an old time dime store type western. Nice and simple. Nice little quick read. I’m sure you will like it!
