3.5 stars. I feel like these books always tell MOST of the story, but I want it all! In this one, the kids decide to all decorate their mailboxes for 4th of July. They can come up with whatever they want and then on the 4th, Mr Tressler will vote. All of the kids on the cul-de-sac are only children except for the Hunter family (which has 4 kids). The 4 kids can't agree on what to do and it causes a lot of problems. The other kids start fighting too (which didn't make a ton of sense) and in the end they decide to just do it for fun and not for contest. We never got to see the mailboxes and after so much description I really wanted to. I also felt like some of these squabbles were underdeveloped. My daughter is loving binging these, but I think I'm ready for a break!

What I got from this story was that sometimes things don't turn out how we wanted or as planned. Sometimes there are disagreements among family members and friends. But in the end, the kids have learned to come together and have fun. It is a very short book so don't expect the plots to be very well detailed. However, I believe it's a good book for children.

Mailbox Mania is book number 9 in the Cul-De-Sac Kids Series by Beverly Lewis. I enjoyed reading this book to my 4 and 6 year old daughters. They listened to, learned from, and like this book even though it's recommended for ages 7-10.

Beverly has done a wonderful job of weaving Christian character into a fun story line about 9 kids in 1st through 3rd grades. It's easy for kids to relate to the story, especially this one about fighting among friends. I especially like the character of Mr. Tressler who is a wise man full of compassion and kindness for the kids and helps them work through their problem.

This book is a wonderful addition to your own library or a good book to borrow and enjoy with your children. It is short enough to read in an hour.

When Abby suggests a mailbox decorating competition for July 4th, the cul de sac friends and siblings end up hurt and arguing. Old Mr. Tressler ends up providing words of wisdom, and Abby decides that the mailboxes should not be judged after all. The book has American references to Abraham Lincoln and American symbols that may not be as known to other countries.

We liked this book because it was a fun read. We liked Mr. Tressler's role in the book and that teamwork and friendship were emphasized throughout the story.
