Game On

Rate this book
He’s here on an ice hockey scholarship.
She’s a figure skating star with the rink schedule locked down.
However, before they can fight for glory, they’ll have to survive each other.

Tarak didn’t come all the way from Australia to be benched. But when he arrives, he learns his spot on the team isn’t guaranteed. And now he can’t even get ice time thanks to the infuriatingly perfect Omega who skates like she owns the rink.

Vesper’s grace hides a spine of steel, and she has no patience for cocky Alphas who think they can glide in and steal her spotlight.

Their rivalry is sharp as blades.

Their chemistry? Unstoppable.

When hate turns to heat – and an arrangement neither will admit is more than just physical – they both start winning.

He nails his tryouts. She smashes her competition.

And the sex? Electric.

But when an away trip puts them in close quarters and Vesper unexpectedly goes into heat, everything changes.

Tarak steps in. Instincts take over. And one primal truth shatters the lies they’ve built between them:

They’re scent-matched.

Now it’s no longer about winning gold. It’s about risking hearts.

And the biggest question isn’t whether this is Game Over or Game On—

It's, can enemies ever become mates?

I had so much fun reading this book! I devoured it in almost one sitting and had a hard time that I needed to put it down for a sec. The instant chemistry between Vesper and Tarak had me on edge and it was just a waiting game for the sparks to grow into a burning fire between those two.

I absolutely loved how much details about figure skating and ice hockey both authors put into this book, with how it was told it was easy to replay it in my mind. I had way to much fun with the banter between Vesper and Tarak. Her being determined at hiding she is an omega so she can follow her dreams, he coming over from Australia to the UK to play on scholarship for the hockeyteam. But upon meeting each other they know it's gonna be a lot harder then they both thought it would be. The spicy was spicing and oh my gosh the way Tarak tried to win Vesper over. I loved him the instant he went all out in the subtle way he did. Vesper did have a difficult time opening up to Tarak and I really enjoyes the push and pull scenes this gave. The ending of the book was so satisfying. It screamed Tarak and Vesper all the way.

Thank you Crystal North for this ARC to read and review.

I really enjoyed this book.
Love the Aussie going to the Uk, personally been that person and had people giggling at my pronunciations too 😊
‘Ginger tosser’ had me honestly laughing out loud.
Tarak’s inner monologue is hilarious and had me mesmerised, as did the banter between the main characters.
Loved that legit Aussie ice hockey team names that are referenced.
Overall it’s such a great sports romance, the Aussie character makes me love it even more
So first impressions of Jace is that he is a real twat!

Vesper is a beauty ice skater who is about to meet an ice hockey man who had expected to get straight in the team. He cannot even get on the ice because of her and very soon they will be melting the ice they skate on. They are rivals for the ice but off it they are making life very steamy. See just where it will take them

I absolutely loved it. From the 1st page to the end I was hooked on these character's. I couldn't get enough of the banter from Tarak and Vesper these 2 had me laughing with their picking on the other. When I found out the book was about ice skating and hockey I knew I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The one sport I love in Winter is ice skating, but hockey, that I’m still trying to understand, but I'm getting there, because I love me some hockey stories.

I absolutely devoured this Omegaverse ice rink romance a bold, angsty, and chemistry filled story that blends figure skating finesse with hockey heat in the most addictive way.

Game On introduces us to Vesper, a British figure skater with a sharp tongue, fierce independence, and a secret: she’s an Omega hiding her true nature to chase her dreams on the ice. Skating is everything to her, and she’s determined to make it without letting anyone get too close.

Enter Tarak, an Aussie hockey player with charm, cockiness, and undeniable Alpha energy. Brought to the UK on a sports scholarship, he’s all swagger, sweat, and stubborn determination and Vesper’s exact opposite. Naturally, they crash into each other with enough sparks to melt the rink.

What follows is a fiery blend of banter, slow simmering tension, and explosive chemistry. Tarak falls first, hard and fast, while Vesper claws tooth and nail to keep her distance. But underneath the enemies to lovers fireworks, there’s a growing emotional connection that pushes them both to be better on and off the ice.

This isn’t a slow burn in the traditional sense the steam is there but the emotional push and pull takes time to unravel. Tarak slowly breaks through Vesper’s walls, only for one heat fueled misstep (he really should’ve known better) to set their fragile trust on fire. While I loved the tension, I’ll admit: Vesper tested my patience post-heat. Tarak owns up, tries to do better, and for me, the balance between grovel and growth worked even if it came right to the edge.

Also? The penguin pebbling was unexpectedly adorable and gave this prickly romance a sweet twist I wasn’t expecting.

If you love:
✅ Fiery opposites attract
✅ Enemies to lovers with real stakes
✅ Omegaverse dynamics in unique settings
✅ High-stakes figure skating & hockey tension
✅ Banter, angst, and heartfelt groveling

Then Game On will hit the mark.

A spicy, swoony skate into tension, trust, and fate with just enough heart to keep you warm on the ice.

📌 As always, my reviews are 100% voluntary. No compensation involved just me, my feels, and a newfound appreciation for pebble giving penguins.

So this book does hit me in the feels really hard. Many, many years ago, I actually was a figure skater, okay no nowhere near as good as Vesper, but it was a family thing. My great aunt did it, my mum did it, so I did it. I admit I used to get really jealous watching all the boys playing ice hockey, but it was fun when they thought they could beat me in speed races, and most of the time ended up sending themselves over the boards at the edges of the rink. Sorry, I digress, but this book brought back some really good memories of those times, so thank you to both authors for that.

Now, back to the story. Tarak, is an Aussie ice hockey player heading to the UK to join a hockey team over there. He's an alpha and a little cocky to boot, but as we find out, he's actually a really sweet guy. Vesper is a figure skater who had to take time away due to an injury, but now she's back, and she's determined to make it to the top. She is also an omega, but hiding that from pretty much everyone. The two soon clash when Vesper hogs the rink for practice, and Tarak is desperate to get in some ice time before he has to prove himself to the team's captain.

The banter between the two is amazing, and Vesper is spicy when it comes to some of her comments. It was a really good read and I enjoyed it from start to finish! This is also only book one in the series and I can't wait to see which other characters the authors explore in the future books. Bring it on!

MF Sports Omegaverse Romance

Good read. There was great banter, tension, so much angst and even more chemistry between Vesper and Tarak. Oh and also delicious spice 🔥🪭😉

Vesper is coming off an injury and needs to prove to herself and everyone else she can still be the best. While also not letting anyone know of her Omega status, and not wanting to let biology dictate her life.
Tarak is new to the UK on a scholarship and will do anything to make the team and have a chance at playing hockey professionally. But someone has booked all the ice time…..and she doesn’t want to share.

He eventually sees how much she pushes herself, sometimes too hard. His Alpha only wants to provide for her, to do anything and everything he can.

She likes it …… but she doesn’t want to. Tarak had the patience of a saint. He’s definitely had work to do…..

No cheating and the only OWD was with Vesper with a HEA

Relentless is just loyal, with teeth.
He falls first. She loves to hate him and hates to love him—but he also fuels her skating in all the best ways. They inspire one another to be better.

“Maybe I can’t stop thinking about him. Maybe that’s not the worst thing.”
“She’s the fire in my lungs. The ache in my gut. Every time I take a hit and get back up, it’s for her.”

The chemistry and tension between these two is absolutely top notch! It took me a little bit to really get into the story, but once I did, I was hooked! If you’re a fan of “The Cutting Edge,” you’ll enjoy this—because it has that similar feel in the interactions between the MFC and the MMC.

This is not a slow burn, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t take a good long while for the characters to get their drama worked out (mostly because she’s stubborn). What I absolutely love about this book, though, is that you get to see the MMC truly court the FMC. His incredible sweetness and thoughtfulness make you love him. Tarak is honestly the reason I kept reading this book, because Vesper was a tough FMC to like. By about the 90 percent mark, I wanted to shake her just a bit.

Overall it’s a good read, and a heartwarming one. It’s very well written, and Tarak is absolutely boyfriend goals in every way!

This was my first read in the Omegaverse, once I got past that they don’t turn into Werewolves. I quite enjoyed it.

Game On is a MF Sports romance, set in Britain where the lead female, Vesper is an Omega who takes suppressants so others don’t know & don’t treat her differently. She is a Figure Skater hoping to reach the Olympics & won’t let anyone stop her reaching her goal, not even her fated Alpha. Tarak is an Alpha from Australia who receives a scholarship to the same University Vesper attends & a place on the Hockey Team. Vesper has this cold ice queen going on whilst Tarak is a typical brooding Alpha & starts to consume her space. The interaction between the two is a lot of push & pull & slowly Tarak manages to lower Vespers walls. Till one night where Vesper forgets to pack her suppressants & Tarak catches a whiff of his fated Omega & not putting two & two together he unintentionally hurts Vesper. Once Tarak realises his mistake he tries to make it up to Vesper.

As someone who reads a lot of Dark romance, this was a nice well written light romance with some heated moments between the two characters. I enjoyed this & I look forward to the next story in the series.

Game on was a fun, easy read with pleanty of action on and off the ice. With Tarak, who comes to England all the way from Australia on a hockey scholarship, only to find out his spot on the team isn't a dun deal. He'll have to try out to prove he has what it takes to be a part of the Cochmouth Cavaliers. So when he finds out there's no spots for practice because a figure skater named Vesper has booked them all, he sets out to teach her a lesson. But they'll get more than they bargin for. With clothes flying to the point, they can't keep their hands off each other and a bond like no other . But Vesper is pretty stubborn and a little cold at first, and it's Tarak to get her to see past all her fears and embrace it head on. And who couldn't love a great guy like Tarak who's sweet, thoughtful with the lovely gifts. penguins being one of them, which i thought was cute. There's great characters throughout the story and drama between Vesper and her rival on the ice. And when things get tough, Tarak is there to be a true Alfa. the only downside was that it was a little bit slow for me, but I did love the ending, which had me guessing and wanting more.

Katherine Isaac's 'Game On' is an exceptional addition to the omegaverse genre, easily earning a 5-star rating! One of the book’s greatest strengths is how Isaac meticulously builds and explains her omegaverse, ensuring readers are fully immersed in its unique dynamics. The developing relationship between the two main characters is beautifully paced, filled with engaging banter and genuine connection.

The characters themselves are incredibly well-developed, each possessing distinct and captivating personalities that make them instantly relatable. Isaac’s writing is top-notch, creating a compelling narrative that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. 'Game On' balances world-building, character development, and romance perfectly, delivering a satisfying and enjoyable read.

While the conclusion provides a sense of closure, it also leaves you yearning for more glimpses into the characters' future. Overall, 'Game On' is a must-read that highlights Katherine Isaac's skill as an author. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a thoughtfully crafted omegaverse romance!

For being about ice sports this book is HOT. Tarak is an australian hockey player who's been offered a full ride scholarship at a university in Cockmouth (pronounced Coke-Muth lol) and Vesper is an ice skater recovering from an injury. Both are trying to prove their worth and they get under one another's skin in fantastic ways.

The book is very descriptive and uses, from my limited knowledge, very accurate technical terms.

Alpha and Omega. "Brutish" hockey player and "delicate" figure skater. Man and woman. They have all the contradictions and all the spectacular sparks that come from this.

This is a story of heartache and love and real people. It's messy and complex and just ...ugh....

P.s. minor spoiler but little blues are native to new Zealand and Australia.... Just saying

“Game On” is an MF contemporary omegaverse, set on the ice. Of all the sports romances I’ve ever read, I believe this one has the sports part the most central of them all. Most of that is due to Vesper who is so determined to make it as a figure skater, the ice has become the center of her world. But even the relationship building, the push and pull between these characters ánd the spice take place mostly in and around the ice rink.

While I absolutely love enemies to lovers storylines, I can get annoyed with characters once the push and pull between them seems neverending. Tarak, in my opinion, solidly toes the line for me, but Vesper takes it a bit too far. I could understand her and even love her until the point of her heat, but afterwards I just felt sorry for Tarak. I’m happy they reach their HEA, I absolutely am, but my love for the story dwindled a little at the end.

I really enjoyed this omegaverse ice rink romance!
Vesper is a British figure skater fighting against the system, hiding her true Omega nature and attempting to make it big, skating is her life and shes completely dedicated.
Tarak is an Aussie, head hunted and poached by the Ice Hockey coach to travel from down under to Birmingham UK on a scholarship playing for the Schools team.
Trying to earn his spot leads to a battle of wills as to who can book out the rink for their own practice time as Alpha and Omega go head to head until they learn to share.
Its such a well written stand alone novel that gave you all sickly sweet courtship of an Alpha following his instinct to provide and protect while the laughs that come from a very stubborn Omega who doesnt need no man.
The penguins and pebbling was such a cute twist! Loved it all!

It's the little things.

It's the little things. That make the biggest difference.

It's the little things that mean the most. Like taking the time to make origami penguins. To know how she takes her coffee. Or that she needs new laces for her skates. Or that she needs gloves. It's the little things.

Tarak and Vesper are determined to make it in their respective ice sport. Tarak a university scholarship student determined to be noticed as a hockey player. Vesper, recovering from an injury and looking to be a figure skater. He's an alpha. She's an omega. But everything goes by the wayside when they meet. Tarak is now firmly in her corner. In her shadow. He’s so firmly near Vesper he could plant a flag.

The banter is cute. The angst is real. The way it reads? It’s different. It feels like a narrative movie. I enjoyed it.

Probably the first OV I've read, where the O was this level BOSSY!
Vesper's Character was flaw3d, stubborn, damag3d, a tiny bit f3ral and completely perfect. I absolutely love her.
Tarak was the A nobody knows they need. Sure, he is kidding himself to begin with, but the level of care and patience is next level.
They each have their elite sports and it is definitely a part of the plot, but it does not overshadow the story of them.
Their HEA is wholesome and emotional on another level.

I've read both CN and KI before - a lot of it. Their partnership has turned out absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to get more from their hands.

I recommend this to lovers of contemporary OV with craving of a fresh take on it, while staying true to genre. Perfect.

This is a fabulous romance, the pull and pull in intense and the heat once it comes is on a skate-edge!

I loved reading this with the characters being so different and initially not liking each other. If you are here for a dark "they want to murder each other" type omegaverse, this is not it - but that doesn't make it any less appealing.

I loved the constant back and forth between Vesper and Tarak as their arguments escalate, and you know it's them denying their chemistry for various reasons.

When it finally happened for them I mentally rode around on a unicorn farting rainbows I was so happy!

This book was everything I wanted it to be and more - I am super excited to read more by this author.

I love the contradictions in this book. Although the *relationship* is slow burn, the steam starts fairly quickly, and it's definitely verging on do not read in public!

Tarak has moved from Australia on a sports scholarship to play ice hockey; Vesper is a figure skater. They meet when they're both trying to use the rink for early morning practice. Add to that he's an alpha, and she's an omega on suppressants, and you can see why we've got the perfect mix for enemies to lovers!

Tarak is a total cinnamon roll, who falls first. Vesper is feisty and in denial for a lot of the book, up until, well... you'll find that out for yourself, but the turning point in their relationship is awesome!

This was a fun book to read, and an absolute page turner.

An Omegaverse that is refreshing and wholesome without being repetitive in a popular trope. I'm normally not a big fan of sports romance but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and I'm glad that I did. Vesper hides her designation to follow her figure skating dreams while Tarak, our Alpha is following his dreams for ice hockey.

He definitely falls first and the dialog, rivalry and emotions between them are strong. The interactions between them make you want to believe in love and soul mates again. The story is not overwhelmed with steam, the characters grow over the story and obviously every good story has a villain.

It was a brilliantly written collaboration between two fantastic authors and I hope we see more from them in the future.

Vesper & Tarak’s story was definitely fun. I mean the two of them seemed like oil and water at times but eventually it seemed to just be their thing to pick at one another, harmlessly.

Vesper is trying to come back to ice skating after her injury whilst also trying to not let the new girl’s taunts get to her. Whilst also trying my to not her designation of Omega distract her from her goals.

Tarak is here on scholarship for hockey & trying to prove himself to the team.

What they didn’t expect was to battle it out over the rink. But then their chemistry is just too hard to ignore. Then real feelings start creeping in. They try their hardest to not let it affect them but then one night changes that & they realize they’re scent matches.

Vesper had a lot to work through & definitely let Tarak an arms length away. But inevitably, he wins her over & the rest is history.

I really enjoyed reading about these two. Definitely a good book that had me devouring it. Amazing job!

This had so many feels.
I loved Tarak, he felt so unusual as an alpha, small gestures, care, hope, protection and a promise of more, though admittedly after a rough start. You don’t generally slam tiny figure skaters into the boards!
Vesper felt more brittle, that edge of breaking, both physically and emotionally. I loved that Tarak gave her the strength and care to follow her dreams. And I liked even more that it was honest and there were no, suddenly everything went perfectly, the stars aligned, the performance perfect, moment. Nicolette was hateful, like poison dripping into an open wound.
This felt real, it was feelings, it was warmth, hope, it felt like life.

Pebble love…

For most of this book I did not like the main female character Vesper. She was cruel to Tarak. He bent over backwards for her over and over again. When he first met her he saw her as a rival because of needing the ice rink to practice.

They were both obnoxious in the beginning but Tarak became a softie buying food, little presents and leaving her pebbles. Tarak found out she loved penguins and they use pebbles to attract a mate. It took a minute for her to realize what that meant.

Both being aggressive athletes by the end you understand them both a little bit better especially Vesper.

Katherine and Crystal give us a sweet, sports standalone book! The story of Vesper and Tarak begins with him moving to her uni to play hockey and wanting time to practice on the ice, but she's got the times all booked for her practice as she is trying to qualify for world championships in ice skating. This leads to a battle for time that then becomes him caring for and about her. To find out how they get from there to their HEA, dive into this beautifully written story with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout. I loved reading this story and highly recommend it. Don't miss out on this book!!

Really enjoyed this Omegaverse book.

Vesper is a great character, fighting against her designation with everything in her power. Meeting the annoying puck-jock, Tarak, is definitely not on her to-do list and when he tries to steal her private ice time, sparks start to fly.

Tarak's character is your typical arrogant athlete with something to prove but I quickly warmed to his quiet courtship of Vesta and his realisation that it isn't just about winning, it's all about her!

Their relationship is full of the push and pull of enemies with a sexual connection they are doing everything they can to downplay.

Loved it!

"Game On" is an absolute delight! This book is pure chemistry and magic. From the moment newly transferred hockey alpha Tarak meets figure skating "princess" Vesper, the sparks practically fly off the page, and I was so there for it!! Tarak is instantly boyfriend goals as he relentlessly woos the Vesper, who is hiding her Omega status . My heart melted with every little thing he did! Katherine and Crystal nailed the banter, making their push-and-pull sizzle. Add in a frenemy, a heat, and a massive misunderstanding, and you've got the perfect recipe for this must-read romance! LOVED!!

Fire and Ice

Heat on and off the ice. Game On is a m/f sport romance. I love a good enemies-to-lovers theme, but add in omegas and alphas. Sign me up!

Vesper and Tarak's start off on the wrong skate when they fight over use of the university's ice rink. Of course, this just adds to the tension between them. But Tarak's alpha nature wins out and he knows he has to take care of her. Vesper's not so sure. She might have a few trust issues. Being an omega isn't easy.

This was a cute hockey/figure skater omegaverse romance.

Oh, there was such push and pull in this book, as in Tarak kept trying to pull Vesper to him but she kept pushing him away! I loved all the little things he did for her-to offer her comfort and warmth as well as an subconscious mating overture. As a penguin fan myself, I recognised those gestures from the start!
What I loved about Vesper, though, was that she may have been trying to push him away but when she went in, she went in wholeheartedly and without any doubts.
Looking forward to reading more in this series in the future.

Fantastic. Ice and steam

This is,the first book of a new series and I was hook start to finish. I loved Beeper and Tarak's story. She's an ice skater and he's a hockey player. When they first meet it seems like there us no way they could get along. They completely deny any attraction they have for each other but you definitely go can feel the steam. There is drama and tension but I love how they cone together. I especially love how he has been showing how he cares for her the whole time. I can't wit for the next book in the series.

Enemies to lovers
OV standalone
Ice hockey player & figure skater
He falls first

Tarak is an alpha & an ice hockey player. Flying from Australia to UK. Has a scholarship at the university. He has cockiness and charm - a proper Alpha.
Vesper is an omega figure skater recovering from a knee injury but she is hides her true omega status to chase her dreams of being world champion.
The banter & tension between the two characters is amazing. Slow burn which turns to a spicy heat between the two.
She hates him but wants to love him.
