Once upon a time a barren fae queen wished for an heir. Fate obliged. However, Fate has a twisted sense of humour where fae are concerned.
Finella, the eldest, looked like an orc; Raven was perfect until she demolished half the palace in her dragon form; and Lily, the youngest, had a penchant for gems… quite like the dwarves from the neighbouring kingdom. As the girls came of age and the queen racked her brain who should be heir, all three princesses were abducted.
Follow the adventures of Finella, Raven and Lily and see what choices they make. Abduction is no funny business and retribution is as easy a thought as escape. Will Finella trust Mouse to guide her through the labyrinth of tunnels in the Darkwood Forest? Will Raven claw out the eyes of her dragon abductor or will her upbringing have her resort to fine mockery? Will Lily aid Trevor to reclaim his throne or will she cleave him in half with an axe as soon as he sets her down? And what if all three princesses never returned and gave the crown up for love?
This clean YA novella is co-written by Astrid V.J., M.S. Weaver, and Sky Sommers, and leads to their other inividual works, but can be read as a standalone.
Humorous but warm hearted story about a elfen queen who desired a heir and got three daughters but they turned out to not be entirely all elfen when her fairy godmother granted her wishes for the first one was part elf and dragon, the second was part orc and elf and the third was part orc and dwarf.
They were shut up in three towers but just before their 18th birthdays they were abducted by two suitors, one a dragon and the other an orc. When one princess was dropped she was found by a dwarf and lived with them for a year and when they were reunited with their parents at the end of the year she chose to return to live with the dwarf where she had found love and refused to accept part of the kingdom that was her right. The youngest princess had become the queen of the orcs with her abductor who was the king leaving the eldest who was abducted by the dragon who was part dragon herself to take over the kingdom when her mother decided to give up the throne.
This was a story full of humor but also one with heart and caring between three sisters who were shut out from the world in their towers and only had each other to interact with.
I enjoyed this story and recommend it for the humor and for the serious moments in this story where you find that true happiness is the greatest treasure you can aspire to and once found to hold onto regardless of whatever the cost may be!
The Amazon blurb for the book tells of the abduction of Finella, Raven, and Lily, and who they wind up with.
The book weaves the adventures of the three princesses into one tale as each shows her concern for her sisters while coming to grips with her own situation and learning more about herself.
It tells the tale with warmth, with a show of concern for others, with humor, and with a last laugh from Fate.
3 princess created to find their destiny planned by a fairy godmother. Although it was not fully planned until the end but all ends well. Not always like are alike ,sometimes different is what suits you best. I liked the idea but needed more in-depth and character building as well as a better storyline and some scenes confused me
Oh, my! Did I risk snorting coffee all over my Kindle.
The concept in and of itself is hilarious! A naive and not-so-savvy fae queen wants an heir, and Fate obliges but not quite the way the queen expected. First, her "fairy godmother" brings her an Orc, but the child is male and that won't do. The abducted child plays a role later, which totally had me in stitches at the end with the resolution. But anyway, the queen insists she needs a daughter because the fae queendom is a matriarchy, so the next year she agrees to a "procedure" she doesn't quite understand and eventually gives birth to a baby girl, but she's half-orc! And of course that won't do for the fae queendom either because she needs a fae princess. Two tries later, we've got the half-fae protagonists of our story: Finella, the half-orc, Raven, the half-dragon, and Lily, half-dwarf.
The three princesses get kidnapped and things spiral from there.
I laughed. I had major epiphanies. I loved the references to The Princess Bride. And more than anything, I enjoyed how these authors managed to work three romances into this short novella without it feeling forced or rushed. I think it's also worth mentioning this story connects up to M.S. Weaver's stories from the Twice Upon a Name and Third Name's A Charm charity anthologies and with Sky Sommers' dragon stories, Tales of the Dragons.
It's nice to get something that stands alone and at the same time has easter eggs for so many other short stories I've already read by the authors. It turns it into a familiar friend even though its entirely new. I love these authors' works and definitely recommend!
A barren fae queen wishes for an heir and her fairy godmother obliges but with a twist or two. We have Finella, Raven and Lily, half orc, half dragon and half dwarf and all three are abducted before they come of age. Their adventures are fun and exciting as we follow our princess down their paths and see what they decide to do and the choice that they make. A well written, clean YA read.
