When he encounters Demi, a stowaway in their wagon company, he quickly judges her as ill-suited for the harsh life ahead. Yet, despite his reservations, he can’t resist the urge to know the woman behind the scars.

But the journey west mocks both their plans. On a trail where danger lurks at every turn, passion can’t afford to dictate decisions. When illness strikes the wagon train, Demi finds herself relying on Alex for survival. Their forced proximity sparks a connection neither is prepared to confront, leaving them both to navigate the treacherous terrain of their hearts as they journey into the unknown.

Return to the trail with Deal for a Debutante, a standalone sweet historical western romance. It can be read alone, or as book 4 in the Bridger Brothers series.

Kate Condie has done it again with this sweet historical western romance. This is Book 4 in the series, but can stand alone.

Demi only sees the scars on her face that have been hers since before she can remember. Visible scars can be just as difficult to overcome as emotional scars, which is what Alex is dealing with. Ready to find herself (and hopefully love) out West and escape a one-sided love, she embarks on a dangerous journey.

I loved her pluck and determination, as Demi is such a strong, scrappy, and resilient character. Her new life isn’t easy and it was so much fun to watch her interact with Alex, driven to knock physical and social weaknesses off her list, as she is thrust into a forced proximity situation and as they each navigate the complexities of their lives. Alex is full of rugged charm and the circumstances they find themselves in together is full of healing, heart, and swoon.

Strong familial ties and beautiful character growth are the hallmark of this sweet story.

Content: illness; mild romance

Deal For A Debutante, is the latest book in The Bridger Brothers Western Romance series by Kate Condie, as a child Denny was caught in a fire and was scarred on the left side of her face and neck but the scars that affect her the most or the ones that happened since then from stranger stairs to the loneliness and negative comments from her mom, but being used to get on the good side of her sister was more than Denny could take. This is why Denny and her sister Petra, find their self hiding in Ellie‘s wagon on the wagon train west. When Alex first sees Denny it’s her eyes that attract him her intense gaze makes him want to know her but it’s everything else from the list of things she wants to do to not being able to look him full in the face are the things that intrigue him and eventually causes him to fall in love with her. If only Denny would believe him. I love all of Kate Condie’s books but I do believe Denny Anderson is her greatest character yet. not only does Alex Bridger show her that she is worth loving but also shows her all the reasons she should love herself. I have read every book this author has written and I have yet to find one I don’t like. This was such a great reading anyone who likes sweet and clean western romances will definitely love this book. The author always does her due diligence and makes the book historically accurate and never ends the book without a swooney heartwarming moment.#BookSprout, #MyReview, #BlindReviewer, #KateCondie, #DealForADebutante,

Another “Bridger Brothers,” Book!!💕 I am absolutely loving this series! “Deal for a Debutante,” was just as wonderful as I expected it to be!

I really enjoy these characters and these stories, so being back and getting to know some characters we’ve seen before was very cool! Demi and Alex were so strong, in so many ways!

This book not only showed strength in the physical way, with them being on the Oregon trail with their wagons, but also strength to let walls down and strength to trust in love! It was so beautifully written!

I loved the concept of one of them being seen at their worst, and the other still caring and loving them despite that! It was just so sweet!

If you want a wonderful, historical western romance, Deal for a Debutante,” releases March 28th! Be sure to check it out!

*Thank you to the author for the E-ARC copy of the book, all opinions are my own.

I’ve been reading Kate’s Bridger series and have been really wanting Demi’s story. It did not disappoint.

Demi has always been defined by her scars. A childhood accident that changed how everyone sees and treats her. When she and her sister decide to join a party going west, she finally has hope of finding someone who will love her. With so few women out west, perhaps people will dismiss her less. Can she earn respect by learning how to do all that the men and women can do? Can we earn love by being useful, or will that also feel counterfeit?

Alex is intrigued by Demi’s scars, but has a long way to go when it comes to convincing her that he sees beyond them. Alex has a habit of helping everyone around him. How can he prove his interest in Demi is more than his habit of helping those around him?

I love how these books explore the hardships and complexities of migrating west. This book especially caught my attention with how they dealt with contagious disease during a harrowing journey. If you love a good clean love story set in the Wild West, this is for you.

I am really enjoying this series and getting to know each of the Bridger brothers. As they are traveling to their new home in Oregon- they have to endure the difficult trip on the trail. Losing their parents in the first book has left each son mourning their loss. Before the death of their mother, the brothers had made a vow to her to each find wives. Each story reveals the unique way that each brother has fulfilled their vow. This is book four in the series. Each book can be read as a stand alone and the author has a wonderful way of bringing parts of the other stories back into each book where the stories overlap. In this story, Ben and Ellen have not yet married and Sam and Petra have just met. This is Alex Bridger's story.

Alex is a twin and he is quiet and a very hard worker. Every day, he finds where he can be of help in the wagon train. When it's revealed that Ellen has been hiding the Anderson sisters, Petra and Demi, Alex is intrigued by Demi. He is not repelled by the scars on her face. He feels drawn to her but is not sure if this city girl would make him a good wife. He needs someone that can help with all of the things required to start a new life in the wilderness. He isn't sure if Demi will be able to handle the harsh life ahead of them.

Demi Anderson has always been different due to the scars she bears from a fire she survived as a baby. She yearns to be accepted and loved by someone and until recently she has lived her life vicariously through her sister Petra. When they decided to leave home to join the wagon train she decided that she was going to reinvent herself in the west. She is determined to learn the things required to survive in the wilderness, and she asks Alex to be her teacher.

Demi has always had difficulty talking to men and she never had a debut so she is lacking in social skills. She comes up with a list of the things she wants to do in this new life- talk to a man who is a stranger, have a dance with a man, get a kiss........ As life goes on, Demi will find that list to be too superficial and she will discover what she is really looking for in a man. Many of the traits that she sees in Alex and appreciates are on that list. If she could only believe that his feelings for her were true.

As Alex discovers his feelings growing towards Demi, he will have to work very hard to overcome her doubts about being accepted for herself despite her scars. After he takes care of her through a difficult case of cholera, he has decided he wants her to be his wife. Can Alex get Demi to agree to marry him?.

Another fabulous book in the Bridger Brothers series! Kate Condie brings the challenging trek on the Oregon Trail to life in such an exciting, romantic, heartfelt way. I’ve loved each book in this series & ever since reading A Wager for a Wife, I’ve been longing for Demi’s story. Deal for a Debutante was everything I hoped for & more.

Demi Anderson longs for love & romance, but a terrible childhood accident left her scarred. Every time she looks in the mirror, she feels inferior to her beautiful sister Petra. After her sister’s failed engagement, Demi agrees to travel West hoping to reinvent herself & find love. Meeting the handsome Alexander Bridger on the trail immediately raises her defenses especially when he seems interested in her. Is his love for her genuine, or is he only looking for a helpful companion?

Alex Bridger & his brothers are traveling West to build a new life in Oregon after their parents death. He’s a hard worker who constantly stays busy helping those around him. On his mother’s deathbed, the brothers made a promise to find wives. Alex wants to find a practical, hardworking woman. As a talented carver, when he sees Demi, he’s instantly attracted to her & longs to carve her likeness. But, Demi is a debutante & he wonders if she can handle the trials of the wilderness.

I loved this story! Demi undergoes a huge transformation as she gains more confidence & learns to look past her scars. She makes a list of what she wants to experience & I loved how Alex fulfilled many things on her list. Demi wants to learn practical skills & this is Alex’s love language. As he helps her learn everything from shooting a gun to driving oxen, she proves just how strong she is. When she’s sick & at her worst, she sees just how tender & caring Alex can be. I loved how she learns to trust & accept love.

Alex is an adorable, golden retriever type character. He’s always busy, trying to help. While he’s instantly attracted to Demi, he has to work hard to gain her trust. I loved how his expectations of only wanting a helpmeet changed as he spends time with Demi.

Highly recommend this lovely, sweet, romantic story! Looking forward to the next book. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author, but also purchased a copy from Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are completely my own & voluntarily provided.

The Bridger Brothers series is about the six Bridger brothers: Will, who is a doctor and married to Fenna; Ben, who was courting Ellen; Nate, who lost his wife Agnes two years ago and is now gambling and drinking; Alex, who is Nate’s twin; Sam; and Chet, the youngest. The brothers decide to go west after the death of their parents. They promised their mama on her dying bed that they would find wives. This story is about Alex and how he finds a wife.

Sam’s love interest is Demi Anderson, who is Ellen’s best friend. Demi has burn scars from the left side of her face down to her hand, and the scars have controlled Demi’s life. They controlled her future, how others viewed her, her family’s reputation in town, everything. Demi’s mother thought that because Demi didn’t have beauty, she didn’t have value. Demi thought her life was “a sad mix of neglect, disappointment, and monotony” and that there wasn’t anything for her in her current life, so she decided to reinvent herself and go west to Oregon with her friend Ellen and her sister Petra. This story is about not only a journey on the Oregon Trail, but also an emotional journey for multiple characters in the book. Alex and Demi, Ben and Ellen, Sam and Petra, and Nate.

The story plot is multi-layered and complicated, just like the characters. There are a lot of supporting characters to keep up with, and all are an integral part of the story. The author did a fabulous job with world building and bringing to life the Bridger and Anderson families and life on the Oregon Trail. The book is emotional, with an engaging suspense story that is full of struggle, angst, regrets, and betrayal. The relationship between Alex and Demi is sweet and the scenes were well-written, showing the deep and sometimes desperate emotions between them. Overall, I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more books in the series.

I love historical romances, but I tend to gravitate toward books set in England—I mean what is not to love about a Regency romance. As I’ve been expanding my reading, I’ve discovered that I love historical romances set in the American West too. Kate Condie is one of my go to authors for this genre so I was so excited to read her latest release A Deal for a Debutante. It is the fourth book in her Bridger Brothers series, and it is so good.
The story follows Alex Bridger and Demi Anderson as they navigate life in a wagon train on the trail to Oregon. Alex and Demi are thrown together when Demi and her sister stow away in a wagon. When the sisters finally reveal themselves, it is too late to take them back to Independence. Alex is grieving the loss of his parents while Demi is trying to create a new life for herself despite the scars that mar her face and neck. The story that follows is gritty and real. It is also so full of hope and love.
I adored Alex and Demi. He fell for Demi so quickly, and I loved everything about his devotion to her from the beginning. He was definitely a real man not a boy. He was a tall drink of water with a huge heart. Demi had a hard time trusting Alex because of how people usually treat her because of her scars. I loved how Condie balanced Demi’s fears with her feelings toward Alex and her desires for her future. Demi’s character arc was so well done. She was such a strong FMC, and I loved seeing her grow.
The romance was slow burn and so sweet. I loved the banter and chemistry between Alex and Demi, especially their conversations about courtship and kissing. It was so cute.
I am loving the Bridger Brothers series, and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Thank you to the author for the gifted copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

DEAL FOR A DEBUTANTE is a story about a girl who only sees her own scars and the man who is drawn to her because of them. It's a story about resilience, self discovery, friendship, family and romance. Definitely recommended to sweet historical romance readers!

Read this book if you like:
- A girl with a bit of spunk and a guy with rugged charm
- Self discovery and character development
- Delightful banter with plenty of laughs and swoons
- Close quarters between two
- Strong family ties

This book was so much fun! The beginning was heartbreaking as was Demi's view of herself, which definitely wasn't helped by the people who only saw her scars and treated her less for them. I loved Demi's spunk to learn to be useful and make her own way in the wagon train to Oregon. Alex is this caring, hard working, ruggedly handsome man who is fascinated by Demi and wants to get to know her. They end up working together which leads to spending time together. There are definitely some obstacles, especially as Demi doesn't feel she's worthy, to them finding their happily-ever-after ending. It's perfectly sweet when it does come.

My only real complaint is that I felt like the story was rushed towards the end. There are some changes that need to be made and it isn't as gradual or as developed as I would have liked it to be, so it felt a bit jarring.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was a delightful western romance full of heart, fun, and sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan on reading the next installment.

Deal for a Debutante is the fourth book in the Bridger Brothers series. It is a Sweet Historical Western Romance. I have enjoyed every book in this series. Each story features the same characters but focuses on a different brother each time.

This story centers around Alex Bridger and Demi, Petra’s sister. I think this might be my favorite in the series now. Demi struggles with how she looks because of the scars on her face and this greatly affects her confidence. You can’t help but root for her and admire her selflessness, especially when it comes to promoting her pretty sister's interests. Your heart aches when she doubts that Alex genuinely likes her. She finds it hard to open up to anyone, especially Alex.

Alex is Nate’s twin brother. He’s always been the dependable, hard-working one. Nate is more playful and impulsive. People on the wagon train see Alex as the one who will help anyone. It’s why he sacrifices so much to care for Demi when she’s gravely ill. Demi thinks he’s just being kind. But secretly, Alex cares deeply for her and wants to be there for her.

I loved watching their relationship grow. Both Demi and Alex are strong-willed and often unsure of how to handle each other. Seeing their walls come down and their hearts open was one of the best parts. Kate Condie creates such real, lovable characters. It’s easy to feel connected to them and not want to put the book down. The story flows smoothly from start to finish.

This sweet historical romance is a standalone book. But I still recommend reading the series in order. It gives you a better understanding of the characters and their journey.

I had a really great time reading this one. It is a time period I truly enjoy reading about, and the characters are always such a delight to discover and learn about in these stories.

This was my second book in this series, which means I haven’t read all of them, and I think this was part of why I had some problems with the story at times. It felt like things were missing, sometimes we would learn about a certain situation and don’t get the resolution of it, our characters just went on with their lives. Which for me felt weird because I didn’t know what was happening and was still wondering about it. That would have probably been avoided if I had done the right thing and read in order. Which is why I strongly suggest you do it right for maximum enjoyment.

That being said, I really connected with our characters, and I’m not going to lie, Alex stole my heart. He was such a loveable character; I love protector vibes, and the way he acted with Demi was all such perfection. I was a bit mad at Demi for always doubting him and his intentions, and while I did get where she was coming from, it got on my nerves a little.

There were some great scenes, and I’m a big lover of moments where a character is taking care of the other which was a big part of the story and led to some very satisfying forced proximity. Our characters were cute together. I really enjoyed the banter between brothers as well, it’s always a nice touch.

All in all, a nice one to read if you enjoy that time period!

Thanks to the author for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Deal for a Debutante swept me away with its heartfelt romance and rich historical detail! Demi has spent her life in the shadows, scarred by a childhood accident and defined by how others see her. But when she joins a wagon train west, she hopes for a fresh start—one where she can finally be seen for who she truly is.

Alex Bridger knows he needs to marry before reaching Oregon to honor his mother’s dying wish, but he has no idea what he’s looking for in a wife. As he faces the dangers of the trail, he begins to piece together a picture of the kind of partner he wants—someone strong, kind, and willing to stand by him. The more time he spends with Demi, the clearer it becomes that she is the one. Now, he just has to prove to her—and himself—that his feelings go beyond simple kindness.

I loved the mix of instant attraction, forced proximity, and slow-burn romance in this book! The hardships of the trail added so much depth, and the character growth made the love story all the sweeter. While you don’t need to read the previous Bridger Brothers books, it’s a treat to see the family’s journey unfold.

✨ Things I loved:
💕 Alex’s practical (and slightly adorable) wife list
💕 The way he cares for Demi
💕 Slow-burn tension done right
💕 That kiss
💕 Strangers → friends → something more

If you love heartfelt western romances with strong heroines and swoon-worthy heroes, this one is for you!

Deal For A Debutante is a historical romance by Kate Condie, set in the American West in the late 1800s. This is the fourth book of the Bridger Brothers series, and while it probably can work as a standalone book, I feel that it would be beneficial to have read the previous books, as the Bridger brothers and their wives feature in all the books. There are also some overarching themes and continuing plots that would be easier to follow if you're aware of the full background.

Demi Anderson sees her opportunity to escape her life when the a group of people come through her home town on their way on the Oregon trail. One of her best friends has already hooked up with a Bridger brother, and that is how Demi and her sister manage to become stowaways on the wagons.

Alex Bridger has no wish to marry, he wants to see his family safe on the trail after he and his brothers lost their parents. He is surprised when Demi is revealed as a stowaway who adamantly stays with them on the trail.

The American West is well and truly wild and there are a number of dangers that Alex and Demi are forced to come up against as they get to know each other. This is a slow burn romance, where Demi and Alex have been fleshed out into two complex people before the romance gets under way.

There were lovable scenes in this novel, where I really connected with the characters and wished them to be together. But maybe because this is number 4 in a series and I didn't read the rest of the books, something was just missing for me.
So I might give away a few things about the story, but I won't make big spoilers.
So even if I liked the book and it was a cute story, I wished to have a bit more tension between the main characters. We spent a lot in the characters heads, especially in the beginning, and I wish they had more obstacles to their love besides the fact that Demi was hurt in the past and didn't trust men, even though Alex has shown here from day one that he was different.
But I enjoyed how protective Alex was, the banter with Nate was fun to read, and the story was pretty original. I liked the fact that there was a "wish list," because it made me look forward to seeing if she would get it or not.
Overall I think it was a good read, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books before. It was cool to read about how it was for people to be traveling to the Wild West.

What a wonderful introduction to an author I’ve heard so many wonderful things about! How to describe this book in one word? Cute. Sweet. Adorable. Touching. Okay, maybe more than one word. From the first sentence, I was completely enthralled by the author’s writing style. The time period was vivid from the author’s well-written details. The characters were enjoyable and loveable. I love stories where you have a big group of characters, making the story filled with beautiful friendships and relationships.

Although I haven’t read the other books in this series, I was able to understand the story without prior knowledge of the other books. However, you could tell that the stories are intertwined because of hints made in this one, so I really want to pick up the rest of the series soon.

I’ve said that this book is sweet and fun, but it also is very meaningful. Demi’s storyline broke my heart. I admired her determination to make her own way in the world and try to not let her scars define her. I felt that her storyline with her scars was a tough subject that the author handled really well. She wanted to not be defined by her scars and be seen as the woman she truly was, scars and all.

It was really sweet how Demi and Alex fell in love. He didn’t see her for her scars like everyone else. He saw her for the woman she was right from the beginning. Their relationship was so beautiful to read about. It was sweet how Alex made her realize that she was perfect the way she was.

You have to buy yourself a copy of this one and add it to your TBR. I highly recommend this story if you love forced proximity, found family, a western romance that will make you smile and touch your heart, and just a story (and series) that will feel like a comforting home that you’ll never want to leave.

Alex and Demi,

Your book makes me want to read more Westerns! Actually anytime I finish a book by Kate Condie, I think I should read more Westerns. She does such a wonderful job at bringing the Oregon Trail to life. Your story and circumstances are prime examples of this.

Demi, you’re amazing! First, the fire and then the Cholera on the trail. You’re a survivor! How you continue to be a survivor and show up is commendable! I can’t imagine being treated how you have been, but I love that even though it gets to you, it does not stop you.

I love that you're a hard worker, Alex. Hard worker in all that you do including proving to Demi that you truly do love her. I understand why it's hard for her to accept, but you do too. You take that understanding, and use it to show her even more how you care. It's a beautiful concept, and I am so glad that you are so patient and caring.

I loved the forced proximity! So sad you were sick, Demi, but it did make possible great conversations and relationship building even if you call it pretending. And your first kiss! Sigh…

I loved getting to read your story. It's definitely a new favorite!

Sincerely,

A Very Happy Reader

This is an awesome book!! It is the fourth book in the series Bridger Brothers. This is Alex's story. He is a twin and he and his brothers are on a wagon train headed to the Oregon Territory. The have had many trials along the way. Demi and her sister sneak aboard the wagon of a friend and hide until they are far enough along the trail that they can't be sent back. Demi bears scars from a fire when she was a toddler. She want to find love but fears her scars and people's reaction will never allow her to find it. Alex is quiet and hard working and also has scars on the inside as his family has been made to feel inferior for years. Alex is intrigued by Demi and finds her beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. Both Alex and Demi have much to overcome if they are going to find happiness together.

This is the fourth book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. The author does an awesome job sharing enough details about the families that you don't have to read the books in order.

This is another sweet addition to this series. It is the story of Alex and Demi. Demi and her sister Petra have hidden away on a wagon train headed to Oregon. After a couple of days, they decide they are far enough away that no one will come to find them and they come out of hiding. The Bridger Brothers are the leader of this wagon train since their parents passed away during their trek. Alex notices Demi the first time he lays eyes on her. He also notices the scars that run down the side of her face and along her neck. He is intrigued and wants to get to know more about her. There is a definite chemistry attraction between the two. This is a charming story of two people getting to know each other through hard times. For about a third of the book, I kept feeling déjà vu like I’ve read this before, and it was really frustrating me. I finally realized it was from the other books in the series. There are a lot of reminiscent scenes from the other books. Once it was fully into the story of the two main characters I was able to relax and enjoy the story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Her scars were no match against his stalwart heart. - Overlooked due to scars suffered in a fire, Demi is so sure no man would choose her for his wife unless he is desperate. Hence her dash across the country as part of a wagon train to Oregon where there are too few women for men to be picky. So sad that she thinks so little of herself when it only took one look at her for Alex Bridger to fall hard. And he saw her, scars and all, and never paid scant attention to another. This one is concurrent with Sam and Petra's story (Wagering for a Wife, #3), with the MCs getting time alone as Alex tends to Demi while she is afflicted with cholera. If he didn't run then, he was never going to leave her side. Her stubbornness and self-pity made her keep pushing him away, but his unwavering heart finally won her over. Another great story in this series with the Bridger family holding tight to each other as they make their way out West for a better life. A finer bunch of young men you couldn't find, and the women who love them are gems.

My Opinion:
I just love how these Kate’s romances always hook me with so much lore and action. Every character has a great backstory, the action of the Oregon Trail’s adventures is great and the chemistry between the main couple is very swoony. All of this makes the story very fast-paced and so much fun, and I also loved how all the stories are connected and happen at the same timeline throughout the series. Demi is spunky and stubborn because of her traumas, and I love how Alex is grumpy with a heart of gold, making their banter and tension so good to follow. I’m always excited to read Kate’s books because she introduced me to the western romance and showed me how good and fun can be.

Her scars intrigued him; his attention made her cautious.

The deadly trail demanded constant vigilance. The brutal westward trek shattered their expectations. On a trail teeming with danger, passion was a liability. When sickness struck, Demi's survival depended on Alex, forging a reluctant intimacy that forced them to confront their blossoming feelings in the thick of the perilous unknown.

Deal For A Debutante is a slow burn, western romance. This is a heartfelt story of resilience, self worth, and transformation. I loved the depth of Demi and Alex's character. Alex is a strong MMC and I love that Demi has to find herself and her confidence.

For her entire life, Demi's scars have been all anyone see of her. But when she starts falling for her sister’s fiancé, a man who could never be hers, she longs for a chance to reinvent herself.

It was easy to love Demi--who hasn't been treated as "less than" because of something they couldn't control? Who hasn't hidden pieces of themselves from the world, fearing--or knowing--they wouldn't accept it?

And Alex was the perfect man for her. He was steadfast and loyal but with a hidden passion that needed to be unfurled. But like Demi, Alex had to learn about himself and his deepest desires before he could find the love that fulfilled him.

This is my favorite Bridger Book yet! Demi and Alex were a perfect couple. I enjoyed the way he pursued and lavished love on her (even when he didn't admit or realize) that was what he was doing.

Demi and Petra are sisters that have left their home to hitch a ride on a wagon train with friends going west. Petra is the pretty one, and has had, and dumped, three suiters. Demi was injured in a fire when she was a baby and has serious scars on her face and neck. She gets teased terribly and people are offended by her looks. This has caused Demi to be extremely self-conscious and tries her best to hide the scars. Demi has never had a suiter and doesn't expect she will find one unless she goes west and finds a desperate farmer or rancher that will appreciate her ability to work. The Bridger Brothers are in charge of the wagon train. Alex Bridger decides he likes Demi, especially as he gets to know her. Then she gets cholera. Alex decides to care for her with determination that she shall not die on his watch. What a great story and is gets better as it goes on. Couldn't put it down!

People chose to join wagon trains for various reasons. Demi and her sister decided to leave heartache and family expectations behind to begin a new life. With scars over a large part of her face, Demi is always hiding. Part of the is because of her own insecurities, but part is due to the reaction she receives from others. Beginning life somewhere new showed courage and to see Demi realize she was stronger than she thought was a great part of the story.

Alex was a special man. He took care of his siblings and was immediately drawn to Demi and her inner beauty. He was a very determined man who helped Demi see her worth. He never gave up on what he envisioned for their life together and fought hard for her to see that too.

Things to enjoy:
whittling
wagon train
teaching Demi survival skills
fake engagement
constellations

Whew 😮‍💨🫠 Alex, Alex, Alex… what is it about these Western men, who are so strong and manly?! I loved him! His persistence was seriously my favorite! After he knew what he wanted, no way was he taking no for an answer 😂 he had me cracking up, and swooning, and just falling for his ways. He was fantastic. And Demi was so sweet. She broke my heart repeatedly while she tried to learn to love herself (why are girls their own worst enemies?!). She definitely had some self confidence problems but she didn’t drive me bonkers like some FMC’s do when they won’t let something go. She had lived with this struggle her whole life, and been repeatedly treated differently because of it, so of course it would be hard to move forward. But a swoony man who helps her realize her worth?! Yyyyyeeeessss!!!

Definitely enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it! Thanks to the author for an advance copy!!

Alex and his brothers are heading west.
Demi and her sister, Petra, have run away from home. Petra has cancelled three engagements and Demi is scarred and hasn't had anybody interested in her.
Alex isn't bothered by her scars, he's trying to find the person behind them. He's a really nice person, helping everyone with the drive. Ignoring the other women throwing themselves his way.
Then Demi gets very ill, Alex takes away from the camp, not worried if he catches it, he needs to look after her, even if she doesn't want him there!
Demi is great, trying to come to terms with other peoples problems with her scars.

I was super excited to get Demi’s story! And to get to know Alex better. She certainly put up a fight with him!

I liked being back on the trail again and seeing events unfold from Demi and Alex’s perspectives, especially when Demi is sick. Demi has scars far deeper than the surface and she continually pushes Alex away despite his efforts to show her he cares. I definitely wanted to smack her a few times 😂. But Alex figured out the best way to handle her and to get her to see how he truly felt. You don’t mess with a Bridger Brother!

The ending was very sweet. I’m looking forward to getting back on the trail again with the next book!

Alex and Demi

This is the fourth in the tale of the Bridget Brothers. Alex is one of the Bridget twins. He is extremely handsome and smart to boot. After the Bridget family meet up with the wagon train Ellen arrives in a wagon and unbeknownst Petra and Demi, having run away, are discovered hiding in the back of her wagon. She was accidental lying burned a a child and as beautiful as she is, she is horribly scared on one side of her body and face. She has been deeply been psychologically scared too from the teasing and ridicule she received because of her scaring. She believes she is unlovable. When Abel first sees her he is intrigued by her beauty and gentle nature. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

Alex and his brothers are on the trail to Oregon when he meets Demi and her sister Petra. Petra is pretty and Demi is scared from burns on her face which makes her think she will never marry. Alex is looking for a strong wife and he finds it in Demi when she asks him to teach her how to shot a gun along with how to put up and take down a tent but when she gets sick with cholera Alex stays back while the other go on to take care of her and that is when he finds out just how strong she is but can he convince her that he loves her and wants to marry her. Wonderful story.
