Rate this book
Family drama, dark magic, and buried secrets...

When a carnival rolls into the small North Carolina town of Henley-on-Hale, it brings more than just cotton candy and merry-go-rounds. Beneath the bright lights and cheerful facade lies the key to something ancient and terrifying.Something hungry.

Two local teens have vanished, and a series of brutal attacks in the nearby forests hint at something far more terrifying than Tula could ever have imagined.

As Tula, Victor, and the sisters begin to peel back the layers of the carnival's mysteries, they find themselves facing new enemies and unexpected allies. The closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous their quest becomes. Tula must navigate a treacherous path, balancing the investigation with the emotional upheaval of her personal life.

Talk about a family reunion from hell… The sudden return of Tula's estranged mother, the introduction to a father she never knew, and the surprise reappearance of her formidable Aunt Ruby only add to the chaos.

In a town where the line between reality and nightmare blurs, Tula must harness her growing powers and lean on her loved ones to confront the entity that threatens them all. Can they unravel the carnival’s deadly mysteries before it’s too late, or will the darkness swallow them whole?"Carnival" is the fifth installment in the ongoing urban fantasy supernatural suspense series "The Carolina Files" by Willa Blackmore.

Magic and thrills in North Carolina

Digging back into The Carolina Files is like meeting an old friend. You just pick up where you left off and it’s like you were never apart. This time there is a new evil in town and Tula and company are up to their eyeballs in weirdness. Murders and resurrections and even a new carnival in town are all on a course for a major collision of worlds. The people in this sleepy town have no idea what is lurking on its outskirts and it is up to Tula to figure it out before it’s too late. This has grown in to a favorite series of mine and I look forward to more adventures.

Tula’s back with a new mystery to solve!

I was happy to return to Henley-on-Hale and my favorite witch family! Tula has a new mystery to solve to save her town from evil. A mysterious door, a disbanded cult, and a monster let loose… can Tula figure it out in time? Is the strange carnival that’s setting up on the edge of town the source of the threat?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. More creepy than cozy, Carnival still had me giggling and cheering for the heartwarming subplot. Not to mention, the scene with the clowns that will give you nightmares for days.

Carnivals have always felt so creepy to me. When teenagers from Henley-on-Hale disappear, Tula, Victor and her family attempt to solve the mystery. This book definitely is spooky and has a lot of danger. I love that Tula and Victor are more settled. I think it adds to the feeling of family support. This series is so entertaining!

Terrific!

The books kept me in suspense and interested the entire time. I read all five in a row and was never ready for a break. The characters all captured my imagination.
Can’t wait for Book Six!
