WHAT IF THERE WAS A PART OF YOU THAT YOU KNEW NOTHING ABOUT?

"This was written for you", is a story that was found in the possessions of a wealthy book collector after their death.

It was a discovery that captivated those who made it.

Typed in a leather journal and discovered next to first editions of very well known works of literature, no other copy of this specific text is known to exist. *This is the first time it has been made available to the public...* Don't miss your opportunity to read it.

This eBook is an exact transcript of what was discovered in the leather journal - a wild philosophical adventure about an imaginary version of yourself who is jealous that you are real.

Determined to be real too, they begin a journey that takes them to the enchanting fields of an eccentric cult and onwards into a manipulative and dangerous experiment that blurs the boundaries between body and mind. As they discover more about the limits of their existence, they learn something about themselves. Something very strange. Something that they struggle to believe, even though it’s clearly true.

This magical book delves into the profound human desire to understand who we are. Maybe, just maybe, we are far more extraordinary that we ever dared to dream.

"This was written for you" is an extraordinary example of literature that breaks down the barriers between fiction and reality - a story, within a story, where there is no separation between the reader, the writer, the narrator or the characters. Everyone is in the action together and it is written by whoever is reading it, as they read. For some, it is a supernatural book. For others, it is a literary experiment of the most remarkable kind.

This Was Written For You is a mysterious book that was discovered wrapped in a cloth amongst some very well-known first editions within a deceased book collectors collection.
As soon as I heard about this book, I knew I had to pick it up. The original copy is typed within the pages of a journal and protected with a leather cover. The copy I've read is a transcript of the original and is completely unique and unlike anything I've ever read before.
The book takes you on a philosophical journey where an imaginary version of yourself is jealous because you are real. They embark on a journey to find a way to become real, too, and have many questions they seek the answer to along the way which takes them through an experience within a cult and into the path of a dangerous and manipulative experiment.
I think everyone who read s this will take something away from it - for me, it was the understanding of who we are as individuals and digging deeper into ourselves to understand ourselves better.
There is one part if the book which I had to skip through at the beginning as I couldn't stomach it (TW - sexual abuse) and if this is something you can't stomach either I would advise to skip this chapter - it doesn't affect the read of the book if you do.

Well written, keeps you engaged and has you thinking.

Well worth the 5 star review, recommendation and so much more!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for my honest review!

‘This Was Written For You’ is a story that was found among the possessions of a wealthy book collector after their death. Typed in a leather journal and discovered next to first editions of very well-known works of literature, no other copy of this specific text is known to exist. This is the first time it has been made public.
This book is truly unlike anything I have ever read. The story is creative beyond measure and breaks the fourth wall by speaking and referencing the reader as “you” throughout. The MC is a character of your imagination, who is not real but desperately wants to become real and experience reality. There are clearly hidden meanings and messages behind some of the events in the book which I appreciated. Imagination is so important and we should not lose sight of it in order to fully immerse ourselves in reality, especially when reality can be so dark and depressing. This is one reason I love reading so much!
I do think the book dragged a bit in the middle and I had to take breaks so it took me a little longer to read. The ending felt a bit abrupt and I wish there had been more explanation or more of a full circle moment. Overall, the book is a very thought-provoking and exceptional read. I am very glad I read it and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something creative and different!
I want to say thank you to the anonymous author who wrote such a unique and thought-provoking read and will unfortunately never receive direct credit for their creativity. Thank you to NetGalley, Explore Unguided, and BooksGoSocial for the gifted ARC in an exchange for an honest review.

This book explores characters that live inside of the readers subconscious. The main character begins to gain jealousy of the person it inhibits because they begin realize that they’re not real on the same sense of the person they inhibit being real.

When I first saw that this was available on NetGalley I was immediately drawn to the story. From page one all the way to the very last page this book held my attention and took me on an incredible journey. This is mind blowing and such a great book that I finished it the same day that I started to read it without taking a break.

Trigger warning:
-One of the main characters gets S/A (on page) towards the beginning of the book. This incident gets brought up a few times throughout the story.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very different from what I usually read and I wanted to pick it up because it intrigued me A LOT. A book with no author, found in the possession of a wealthy book collector after their death. Doesn’t that sound fascinating?

This book is a journey that will give you a lot to think about. It’s written for you, from the perspective of another version of yourself who is jealous that you are real and who also wants to become real. It was very interesting to read and the idea is unique and very captivating. You will want to turn the pages to find out what’s happening next with this fictional “you”.

The origin of this book, found amid a collection of other first editions, is almost as fascinating as the story itself. The author is unknown, adding to the air of mystery, and the subject is open to your own interpretation. Keeping this in mind I eagerly started to read and found an intriguing philosophical debate on what it means to be real and the search to find the answer within ourselves.

This self-propelled journey is not always comfortable and the path to enlightenment contains many flawed thought patterns, but the exploration of potential and method is interesting as well as a little confusing and disturbing at times. There is a scene that was hard to read that is brought up again later that could be a trigger to sensitive readers and those impacted by sexual assault.

The writing style is engaging and flowed smoothly allowing me to become completely immersed in the world the author created while also imagining my own thoughts on the topic. While I can't pretend to completely understand the novel or what exactly I was supposed to get out of it, I enjoyed the wild ride and entertaining the possibilities of what is real and what makes it so.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

Such a unique story full of wonderfull quotes. Once i heard about this book and how it was found i wanted it. Nobody knows who wrote it, but it was written for me, for you, for everyone.

It's a very intrigueing little book that makes you think about your inner self. Our minds are mysterious but also very resourcefull. We can imagine things in our minds but what if that imaginary world is very real for the people you imagine. What if that world actually exist within and your inner self is looking for ways to be real in the real world.

I found this concept very refreshing and absolutely enjoyed the story. Definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to read something completely different and unique.

I was originally drawn to this story because of how it was discovered. It was found in a wealthy book collector’s house after his death amongst a bunch of first edition classics. How can you not want to read a book with that story behind it??

This Was Written For You takes place within the imagination. YOUR imagination. The narrator is the person in your head, the voice you hear in your head. He is basically THE imagination. We follow his story through your imagination as he is trying to find a way to become real.

This story presents grief, sexual assault, addiction, and so much more. It shows how debilitating these can be, but also that it is possible to overcome them. This story went places I was never expecting, and I couldn’t have loved it more.

What is real? Am I real? Where did this come from?

This author is anonymous cause nobody knows where the story comes from. It’s almost ironic, and it draws upon topics of the book in a brilliant way that almost seems to literal to be real.

I am equally fascinated by the story as I am with the origin. I hope the author gets their acknowledgment one day. They deserve to have their work known. This is a brilliant piece of literature that could easily be seen as a classic tale up there with the big names.

Wherever you are, time and place, I hope the author knows. This is one of the greatest pieces of literature I’ve ever read.

I don't know where or how to begin this review in a way that will do justice to this book. To say it took me by complete surprise eventhough I went in thinking I knew what this was about. This unique story ended up leaving me absolutely speechless!

This book is utterly captivating, from the actual story to the way it's been presented! I don't want to spoil it, but if you see this post, then this book WAS Written for you, and you must pick it up ASAP!

This story is a philosophical journey that happens in the reader’s imagination. The narrator is the reader’s imagination who meets other people who are in the reader’s mind and represent people in their real life. The narrator must figure out who they are and what their purpose is in life.

This was a unique story. The narrator speaks in the second person often, addressing the reader as “you.” The narrator was going on their own self discovery journey, which involved drug experimentation and war. This story will make you think about how your mind works.

This Was Written For You is a fascinating philosophical story.

This Was Written for You by...Well, No One Knows!

Ever pick up a book and feel like it has secrets?

This Was Written for You has them all and it doesn’t even have an author!

Imagine this: a dusty, leather-bound journal, typed and hidden among rare first editions, just sitting in a wealthy book collector’s library until...someone discovers it after their passing. It’s like something straight out of a mystery novel, but this time, the mystery is the book itself. And the real kicker? The author is anonymous. There’s no other copy, no ISBN, and no origin story. Just a title that pulls you in like a personal invitation.

The plot (if we can even call it that) is a blend of philosophy, introspection, and strange poetry, with lines that feel like whispers from some forgotten corner of your mind. It's as if this unknown author wanted to explore the you that even you don’t know. And sure, it sounds a bit existential, but it’s less of a “midnight crisis” vibe and more of a cozy, rainy-day mystery.

By the end, you're left questioning reality, time, and whether there’s some part of yourself waiting to be discovered in the pages of forgotten books.

If you’re in the mood for something offbeat and mysterious, This Was Written for You might be the perfect, eerie escape from your usual bookshelf fare.

Just be warned, you may find yourself re-reading passages, wondering if it really was written for you.

A book that was written for themselves, a part of them they could have forgotten to a part they never know will exist and yet it is something everyone of us can relate to. As if it was written for each one of us. Maybe now you are that part now or it has passed then I hope you remember it , maybe it's a part that is yet to come then I hope that you enjoy and anticipate it.

The book is something they have written for themselves. And I think all of us can relate. How different we become in a short span. If you have ever noted down your thoughts I'm sure that later you would be wondering how different you have become and how different life is and the turn it took

A figment of our imagination is given power to write about everything in their own world. That's what it is , and yet it goes deeper. It makes you think about so many things.

It's equally enjoyable and thought provoking. I must say I'm in love with this book.
The anonymity of the author intrigued me, and thoughts of the author so relevant that I want to know who they are igniting my curiosity.
This book alone is a piece of art even though it never originally had the potential, it was supposed to just be an entry , a letter to future self .

From the initial concept of the book I was intrigued; a typed novel manuscript found on the shelf of a wealthy book collector after their death, and subsequently anonymously published, the irregular nature of this books publishing was alluring to me, and that somewhat romanticised bizarreness, was evidently present throughout the duration of the novel.

A strange philosophical journey, the story is narrated by the second person perspective of your own imagination, who craves to be ‘real’ in the way that you the reader are. ‘Your imagination’ submerses you in the world of the imaginary, and delves into strongly symbolic explorations of what it means to live purposefully, and what makes anything ‘real’. It is strongly focused on aspects of self, community, and control, as well as the lengths people would go to in the name of a perceived to be worthy cause.

The novel is honestly so unlike anything I’ve read before, and delves into surprisingly dark aspects of humanity, that it’s rather hard to know what audience to recommend the book to, and hard to know to what level I personally enjoyed it (at times I was heavily invested and other times mildly disinterested).

TW: a SA occurs early in the story and is frequently referenced throughout

*Thank you to the publisher of "This was written for you" for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.*

I feel like "This was written for you" was, well, written for me. I read voraciously and always have. From the time I learned to read, I constantly kept a book in my hands. Often enough, I held more books than I really could carry.

In this short, yet wonderfully crafted work, we follow the path of an anonymous soul, who much like our anonymous author. spends their time searching for reality in a world that defies true explanation. We watch our hero learn the power of creation and destruction. We grieve with them as they discover the close relationship between pain and joy, of love and loss.

By the end, we wonder how our anonymous friend grasped our own souls and our own sense of time so vividly and deceptively strongly.

I thoroughly enjoyed "This was written for you." I highly recommend it.

This unique and engaging philosophical read makes you ponder the mystery of where we came from and how our minds work. The idea of the unknown author drew me into wanting to read this book. The words within these pages were found in the safe of an antique book collector. It gave me fantasy vibes, a journey of self-discovery, and a battle between good and evil within all rolled into one book. The descriptions of the setting and the dialogue are crisp and well-written. If you're looking for a unique break from your usual genre or find yourself in a slump this is a great book.

This was the most stupid book I have ever tried to read in my life. The author is some man from England who was writing when he was either high (pot), tripping (on LSD), or delusional due to mental health issues. Total waste of time. I read the first 8 pages, then some in the middle of the book, then at the end. It never got better. Some pornography, sexual violence, depressive tone. It was not at all what I was thinking this book may be. Going in the trash, am not passing this on to my friends.

My question is was the book really found or is it just a quirky advertising gimmick? Either way it had the desired result and piqued my interest, and I was intrigued to find out more.

It takes you, the reader on a deep journey into the inner psyche and your subconscious to those thoughts and the characters that reside there.

It's totally unique, absolutely fascinating and definitely one I'd recommend to everyone who's searching for their inner self.

3.5 ⭐️

This was a super interesting read. I feel like the description online didn’t give it justice; it’s a unique blend of fantasy and magical realism. If you like stories that make you think a bit more, then check this one out.

The writing style is weird but in a good way? It is essentially written like a letter to the reader, which is super unique; I personally haven’t read other books like this.

Definitely a book that makes you think, and kind of question everything when you get done 😂

I'd like to thank NetGalley for providing me this fabulous work.

Triggers: rape, poisoning, drugs, torture

I really enjoyed this. The writing was immersive, and fast-paced (at least for me). I've always loved philosophical topics, so this particular book was just my cup of tea.
Greatly recommended.

I was intrigued by the premise of this but it really wasn’t for me. I felt it is trying too hard to be philosophical and profound and for me it was touching on pretentious. I struggled to get involved in all but a few sections which drew me in. I realise I am firmly in the minority as other reviews are very different but I couldn’t wait to finish.

This book is really not normal. I wasn’t sure about it to begin with, it took me a while to get into it. But the emotion I felt when I got to the part about the small child (without spoiling it) has really stayed with me. This is such an unbelievably original book, it is hard to forget.

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭: 𝐖𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝?!
~ 4.8 ⭐

There’re books you think you understand but then you think you don’t yet you can’t stop reading them. This Was Written For You is one of those books.
It’s a philosophical adventure novel found in the possessions of a wealthy book collector after their death. The author of this book is anonymous thus making it more mysterious.

Basically it’s about an imaginary version of yourself who is jealous that you are real. To say that it was a wild premise would be an understatement! I was equally mesmerized yet appalled by the concept of reality vs imaginary.

The writing style was engaging, with vivid descriptions that brought this story to life. Some parts were more intriguing than others. Some parts were harder to read than others. Yet overall it was an interesting combination. At its heart, I found this book closer to reality than it seemed. The author masterfully blended suspense with emotional depth, exploring themes of drug abuse, r *pe, personal identity, greed and war.

This was a magnificent puzzle, a book that will make you wonder and guess, and scratch your head until the end. And I found the ending equally thought-provoking and confounding!

In short, if you’re looking for a wild book to read, this is written for you!
