Eighteen-year-old Ally Watson arrives home from high school graduation, more than a little annoyed that her Uncle Argyle—Ally’s legal guardian and only surviving relative—didn’t even bother showing up. But instead of berating him for his forgetfulness, Ally finds him in a life-or-death battle with a monster. Argyle manages to kill the creature, and gives Ally a parcel containing a destiny she never knew existed.
Ally, along with her best friends Michael, Jessica, and David, hurry to Georgia to uncover the truth of Uncle Argyle’s secrets, and the meaning of the mysterious marks that Ally bears. Are the marks related to the blacksmith mythology of her ancestors? Who are these heavenly warriors who show up in the oddest of places? And will an ancient gypsy curse destroy the very things Ally fights to save?
Black a simple flower, a symbol with an ancient legacy, a conduit for prophecy…while faith and hope are essential to the journey, Ally soon discovers that love is the most powerful force of all.
By age 5, Sasha Hibbs' favorite movie was Gone With the Wind. By age 12, she completed her 7th grade book report on the sequel, Scarlett. By 18, she met and married her very own Mr. Rhett Butler and as it turns out, she never had to worry about going back to Tara to win the love of her life back. Fortunately, he stuck with her.
With a love of all things paranormal, the ambiance of the South with its gigantic antebellum mansions and canopies of Spanish moss, and a love for her husband’s rich storytelling of blacksmiths and the mythology surrounding their origins, it wasn’t long until the world of her debut novel, Black Amaranth, was born.
When not working her day job as a nurse, you can find Sasha dreaming of her next beach trip, reading the latest YA novel, and drinking more white chocolate mocha than she should.
Sasha lives in mountainous West Virginia with her husband, Tim, and their two daughters, Aeliza and Ava. She is currently hard at work on her next novel.
Eighteen-year-old Ally Watson graduates high school without her Uncle Argyle in attendance, but only because he's too busy trying to save her life. Ally and her friends - Michael, Jessica, and David - find themselves thrust into an entirely new understanding of their world and embark on journey of self-discovery, intrigue, danger, and love. Together they must solve an ancient puzzle about Ally's past and save the world from an impending apocalypse.
Sasha Hibbs weaves together a variety of spiritual traditions to create her own complex mythology, and she does it in a way that is completely original. Well done!
I was instantly hooked by the plot and as I continued to read, I fell deeper into the tangled web of secrets that make up Ally's family history. Each chapter presented new twists and turns that kept me guessing and hungering for more. The characters are relatable and interesting, and the climax at the end of the book will leave you begging for the second installment in this series. A fun, fast-paced read!
The excerpt on the publisher's website had me intrigued, and right away, Sasha's writing sucked me into the story and wouldn't let go. It's easy to identify with Ally as she struggles to figure out who she is, and contemplates the impact of her decisions (which are VERY far reaching) on the people she cares about, and really, the entire world.
I think the thing that astounds me most about this book, is the intricate mythology that Sasha has created. She's pulled from a variety of traditions to make a whole new world and that is not easy to do. It could get a bit hard to follow at times, but I think that mostly had to do with the fact that I was up all night reading and therefore very tired! I just didn't want to put it down.
The climax of the book was extremely powerful, though I can't say much about it or I'll spoil it. Let's just say that there are a lot of twists and surprises. And I can't wait for book 2!
Black Amaranth is the first book in the Vulcan Legacies series by Sasha Hibb and weaves together danger, darkness and the power of love and friendship in this unique twist on the traditional angelic tale.
I have to say, Black Amaranth was a real roller-coaster of information and mythology for me. Author Sasha Hibb’s impressed me with her different take on vampires, angels and werewolves in this book. I honestly feel like Hibb’s has made a very real attempt to take something we’ve all seen so many times and shake them up. And she does a decent job in doing so.
In Black Amaranth we are presented with a number of different beings: Seraphs; angels, Blaxxmiths; the result of Seraph’s breeding with mortals, Nosferatu: vampires, and werewolves. We also have gypsies making an appearance too. Weaving them all together, Hibb’s introduces us to Ally, a seventeen year old teenage girl who shockingly learns she is actually a Seraph, an angelic being, and more importantly is one that was long ago prophesized to either save the world or destroy it.
Hibbs also goes to great length to detail the history of the beings within her world, and while I appreciate this, it also left me very, very confused at times. So much sits on our heroine’s shoulders and as we learn just who, and what, she is, the way in which Hibbs explains her heritage and role within the prophecy had me very confused at times. I think its brilliant how everything is interconnected, and Hibb’s reveals things exactly when she should for maximum effect, but even as the first few chapters of the story ended, there are still a few parts where I don’t think I completely comprehended what is going on.
That being said, I did enjoy the story. Ally is a decent main character and the story progresses nicely. It felt a bit rushed in the beginning and towards the end, but Sasha Hibb’s managed to hold my attention regardless. I like the supernatural elements mixed together with the strong themes of love and friendship in the book. Ally has some true friendships and I loved the romantic elements Hibb’s has added in. Personally I didn’t quite feel the connection between Ally and her love interest Michael, but her best friend Jessica’s love/hate relationship with warrior Eli, as well as the connection shared by their siblings Dave and Lucy has me all excited to see where they would go.
Overall Black Amaranth is a worthy read. Hibb’s mixes all the elements for a good supernatural read together with some unique lore. Plenty of shocks and twists will keep you on your toes, as well as the discovery that no one is as they seem. Black Amaranth ends on a cliffhanger that shakes everything up that has me eager to read the next book!

5*s really enjoyed this! review posted here... http://bookpassionforlife.blogspot.co... I thought Black Amaranth was a great read & I really enjoyed it. The synopsis tells us everything we need to know as we join 18 year old Ally on her journey of self discovery. Ally was a great character, easy to gel with and really route for. I liked everything about her particularly how she can take everything in her stride, I loved watching her grow as she dealt with the secrets and the things that were thrown at her. I liked the relationships that developed for her, it was sort of a love triangle but wasn’t overly complicated because she was only on the verge of a relationship but happened to have two potential boyfriends. I did feel a connection to her from both sides and would have happily went with either one, although one was slightly more mysterious than the other BUT she has a way to find her true mate… This was also one of those books where the secondary characters are just as important and interesting as the main characters, it was easy to become involved in their drama & relationships and I really hope we get their stories too. The storyline was awesome, quite original and a great introduction to a series that has so much potential. I loved the history of it all, there are a lot of myths from all sides that lead up to current times and a big prophecy which is again told differently by all sides but all equating to the same outcome. We meet a couple of the clans of the supernaturals and they were really interesting particularly the warriors who are to protect Ally, every one of those men need a book of their own and I can’t wait to see them in action. ;) This book is filled to the brim with secrets and a whole lot of them are surrounding Ally which is always great, her heritage has been kept secret from her so she’s about to stumble upon that in a big way and I really liked that, I liked how she finds out things about herself from the past and they brought about some really revealing moments and it doesn’t end there, because as I said ‘brimming with secrets’…. And there are some jaw dropping surprises in store towards the end. I also love the soul mate angle, I’m such a sucker for soul mates, truly, nothing makes me happier and it was done well in this, I like how it’s possible to find out who your true mate is and I like the bonding part too in which the lovers make the ultimate sacrifice for love. To sum it up… Black Amaranth is an awesome story filled with so much potential, it has great characters, tons of secrets, a fair bit of action, a huge helping of romance from more than one source, a nice big prophecy and a battle between good & evil in the ultimate power play and really can’t wait for more.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Black Amaranth has roots tied to mythology in the form of Vulcan, the god of fire and blacksmiths. The plot is an intricate and at times a dizzying mix of all types of mythic lore. We have shapeshifters, Nosferatu, Seraph, and Gypsies with magical powers. There are so many, I was beginning to wonder if humans were the minority on Earth.
Set in our modern times, main character Ally is kept in the dark about her ancestry until she stumbles upon an attack against her uncle the night of her high school graduation. She always knew she was different since she has a tendency to light up with magical fire at night after her nightmares. But somehow her heritage was hidden from her. When it comes to light, she is forced into quick training for an impossible decision she isn't ready to make.
Ally is hit with one eye-popping surprise after another, and frankly I was surprised with how well she handled everything. She is very loyal to her friends and her uncle Argyle. Ally jumps into her role with amazing ease and embraces her training. While I realize she couldn't really deny reality when people suddenly sprouted wings, I still couldn't believe how well she accepted her fate. The few meltdowns she had were totally understandable. Ally knows she must make a choice based on love, and that choice will determine whether the apocalypse occurs or not. No pressure there.
There are so many interesting characters in this book, and most of them don't get the time they deserve. Ally's friends Dave and Jessica provide constant support and comic relief. Then there's Michael, the farmboy from next door. Ally has such strong feelings for him, but she manages to rationalize them away at every turn. While I did enjoy the characters and found the plot rather intriguing, I felt lost at times during the story. Ms. Hibbs does an excellent job with foreshadowing so I was aware of what Ally's choice should be even when she seemed lost.
I noticed Ms, Hibbs bio indicates that she's working on book two in The Vulcan Legacies Series. This is good news since I didn't care for the ending at all and would be unhappy if it was simply left there. Poor Ally, I felt like the way it ended was like rubbing salt into her wounds. It was heart-wrenching. I recommend Black Amaranth to everyone high school and up that enjoys an intriguing paranormal story. If you like mythology then I think you'll really enjoy this one.
Ally Watson just graduated from High School and is irked that her only family left, an over protective and strict uncle, did not even show up. Her anger fades once she gets home and sees that he had been fighting for his life against a monster. Along with an order to run, he gifts her with a package which leads to learning about the world and her destiny that was hidden from her; one that contains family that she never knew, the truth about the ones she does, other beings, and a destiny she was not prepared for.
Michael Blackwell is Ally's best friend and has known her for what seems like forever. He is steadfast in his belief that she will do what is right and make the right choices. Their close friendship could finally have the chance to blossom into more, but it could be tested by the enigmatic and alluring Maric.
Ally is told that the mysterious marks on her back mean that she is the descendant of angels; herself being the angel of death, and that she is the key to an old prophecy that will make or break the world. Everything hinges on her decision, which will decide the fate of all races, including the High Sons of Nashoba, the Nosferatu, and Gypsies. On top of that she will have to struggle with new powers, find and rescue her uncle, and deal with the seductive and mysterious Nosferatu Maric. She has to make the right choice, or plunge the world into an apocalypse. In the process she might lose what she has always known. Will she pick the right one in time, or is it already too late?
This is a remarkable read, with vivid and intriguing characters, an exciting new world, and a good touch of action. Ms. Hibbs's world is crafted of tinges from different familiar myths mixed with her own ideas and concepts of those well-known myths and beliefs making them something new and exciting to read. It is a thrilling read, full of twists I never saw coming, the best being the one at the end. With such a surprising and heart-wrenching ending you will want to get a hold of the next book ASAP to see what happens next.

Black Amaranth was an amazing find. I read other genres, but YA Fiction is by far, my favorite. Having read too many YA books to count, while I enjoy YA books with a supernatural theme, most do not jump out to me as extraordinarily original, but I appreciate them all the same. However, Black Amaranth was fresh, original, and left me completely breathless.
I was astounded by all the twists and turns. The author kept them coming and to say the climax at the end was stunning truly doesn't quite scratch the surface of how amazed I felt when finally I reached it.
The characters were well developed, my favorite being Michael (swoon). The only disappointment I have is that the second in this series is not available yet.
If you're a lover of YA, supernatural, mythology, etc...do yourself a favor and get Black Amaranth, you will not be disappointed! Be prepared and clear your schedule, you'll stay up reading it until the last page!
* I received a free eCopy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review. *I used Grammarly's Plagiarism Detect feature.
This was an amazing story. It felt like the author really did her research and planned the back story VERY well for this novel. The eCopy I got, when I looked over my notes for the book, seem as I was editing the book instead of reading it. I had to highlight so many details and make side notes to understand and keep up with the overall story line that it's pretty funny when I think about it.
Even though I loved the novel as a whole I had trouble connecting with the story until the 30% line. I don't know what happened, but I just didn't like the beginning. As the story progressed, I got used to the writing style and actually picked the WRONG team...That should tell you something about me. Then again, pshhh Normal is Over Rated.
Right from page one we were introduced to A LOT of characters, so I got a little lost on appearances and names and everything in between from there. After that the heroine, Ally (I just *heart* that name!), gets the proverbial slap in the face and we meet even more people. To say I got lost was putting it lightly.
After ALL that the story gets good. Why, you ask? Well, the mystery in a prophecy involving said heroine becomes the main focus. I was getting antsy when 60% into the book and Ally had learned basically nothing. The author held CRUCIAL pieces back that were making me crazy by the end (when, of course, everything blows up in Ally's (and my) face).
I can't really comment on the villain in this novel or I'll give the whole story and a crazy plot twist away. I'll just say he's VERY every bad thing you can think of: manipulative, arrogant, murderer, evil-incarnate. You get the picture, right?
I still don't see the appeal Michael had on Ally. I was expecting for him to have this huge epiphany in the middle of the story, yet that only happened On. The. Last. Page. Literally. Of. Said. Book. To say I want to maim something is putting it mildly.
That ending. I'm still speechless. I'd had to suffer through A LOT of mean endings, but to have it literally start and end on the LAST PAGE of a book, I can say that this is a first. Thanks to that, so called ending (which seems suspiciously like a cliffhanger - I don't like what you're doing there Mrs. Hibbs), I will totally be looking forward to the sequel.
Also let me mention a few other things:
*I loved Dave's wise cracks, even though I saw him as an annoying character in the beginning he grew on me over time.
* Jessica went from BBForever to go-dig-yourself-a-hole-because-you-are-now-dead-to-me in a few pages. Awkward...
* Even though Brandi had the past to explain away her attitude/b*tchiness toward the world, that doesn't mean she has the right to take it out on everyone.
Favorite Quotes:
"Michael was like the calm yin to her very enraged yang."
"I say you just zap her ass. Brandi's needed an electric collar since about first grade."
"Loyalty is not defined by words but actions, and an action such as self-sacrifice is the ultimate definition of love."
Black Amaranth is a classic young adult paranormal storyline. Girl has lost her parents and has had secrets galore kept from her. Girl turns out to have some sort of powers and goes off to fulfill some sort of destiny/prophecy. It may be cliche, but it is a formula that works for me. I enjoy it because I like to see what the author can do with that basic plotline and how they can make it their own. I think Sasha Hibbs did a really good job creating interesting races of creatures and made a compelling history and story for them. Plus, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing right up until the end.
I liked Ally and her gang of friends. I thought it was a little convenient and easy how everyone surrounding her ended up playing a role in her world, but overall it was interesting to see how they each fit in. I appreciated how inquisitive Ally was. She did not just stand for a simple explanation. She kept demanding until she got the answers she wanted, and she was smart enough to know to keep some pieces of information to herself. Too many times I see characters that are too trusting and a little naive. Ally was neither of those things. It was refreshing.
I loved Michael and the twins. I thought they were a great group of friends. I was on the fence about Marik for almost all of the story, and there were more than a few times that I wanted to kick Ally for her choices, but I will leave all of that for you to find out for yourself. I liked the various relationships, but everything was so obvious and in your face. Like with Eli, for instance. I would have liked a little bit more subtlety worked into his feelings. It would have made it seem more realistic to me. I hope that gets developed a bit more in the next book.
Because the world that Sasha Hibbs created is complex, and because we are seeing this through Ally's eyes and she is so new to all of this, parts of the book were pretty confusing. I think since we now know who most of the players are and what the creatures are, that won't be an issue in the next book. Even though I want to see some of the characters and relationships fleshed out a bit in the next book, the world and plot has grabbed my attention so much that I know I will be continuing the series. The ending of this book killed me! I did not see it coming at all, and I really have no idea how Ally will get herself out of this pickle. But I know one thing, I have to tune in to find out.
Black Amaranth, a dark fantasy by Sasha Hibbs, wastes no time plunging the reader into its world. Ally has just graduated high school. After years of being tormented by Brandi, her oh-so-popular nemesis, she’s coerced her friends Michael, David, and Jessica to crash Brandi’s graduation party. And crash it they do—in a most wholesome and satisfying manner, despite Ally’s sullen mood. This mood is born of her resentment towards her caregiver, Uncle Argyle, who failed to attend the ceremony—but if Ally thinks that’s bad, it’s only because she has no idea what’s to come. Within the first several pages, Ally—and the reader—learn that her whole “normal” life has been a lie, that she is an immortal tasked with righting an ancient wrong, and in doing so, changing the world—or destroying it. At first incapable of grasping the full implications of what she is and what she must do, she focuses instead on saving her uncle, who it turns out has been sheltering her, for all of her life, against the terrible truth of what she has been from birth. Sheltering her from the truth of her parents, her “aunts,” and most significantly, her own perilous destiny. And to think, just yesterday, her biggest problem had been the prospect of breaking the news to her uncle that she’d be moving out and going to college … There’s a veritable rogue’s gallery of paranormals in Black Amaranth: a host of seraphs, a community of gypsies who practice magic—and Malik, of the Nosferati, who seems to be Ally’s appointed consort, whatever her “friend” Michael may think of that. Yet, in spite of all of this magic, this complex cauldron of interweaving plots that involve the fate of the world as we know it, it’s the human characters who propel this story. Ally’s friendship with Jessica and her insufferable twin brother, Dave (think “Ron” from Harry Potter, as a rough reference) lend a constant reality to a plot that moves fast and sometimes requires some re-reading to keep up. These are teenagers you recognize from your own past, or wish you did, and their loyalty is genuine, touching—and hopefully enough, as so much hangs in the balance. As Ally leans on them, and yearns for her first kiss with Michael, we lean with her. It is through those characters that we relate to problems bigger than ourselves, and root for a brave young woman whose very destiny seems the appointed destruction of us all.
“I received a free copy of the book from the author/publisher for my honest opinion. I was in no way compensated for this review and all opinions are expressly my own”
At first glance, I was intrigued. The synopsis was enticing and the cover interesting. I really enjoyed the grainy look of the cover as apposed to the shiny one of other books of this genre. In my mind the grainy look of the cover foretold of a book, a story full of grit. The only thing from the cover that I could have done without was the font. I felt like it may have taken away from the beauty of the presentation. As for what you all really care about, the story itself I really, really, really, REALLY liked it. It was different and yet I felt like it may have come from the same universe of other Young Adult Books that I hold dear to my heart.
Once again, there are a lot of ‘I knew it’ moments and I really wanted to smack the main character Ally a couple of times but overall I really liked her character and enjoyed the story and its progression. Now I am all for the strong, feisty female leads but I found something endearing in Ally’s humanity and weakness even if she herself is not human. Her mistakes were real and though as a reader you might see them coming and find yourself angry at that please remember, as a young adult reader we see the signs while the character herself has been sheltered and takes things at face value.
Now I’ll admit that all was not perfect while reading this book. The beginning sounds really interesting in the synopsis and even has moments of Oh Mah Gawd but it was a bit on the slow side.... to read the full review please visit http://tipsyink.blogspot.com/2014/01/...
The book started with Ally's uncle getting attacked and then the story began to search where her uncle was and who had attacked him who seemed supernatural with help of her twin friends and Micheal. This book started out slow and I was really thinking should i leave it to read next time with all those mysteries and so many characters coming and there is no answer what actually Ally is. What is happening . But then the author surprised me and the story became interesting and I was going oon reading and the author really surprised me with the story which I never thought would have happened. I am still thinking what was that. There is secrets, shocking revelations about Blacksmith. A unique story about gypsies, heavenly warriors and their curse. The character Ally is strong and knows what she wants. She is rebellious and so very her age. I liked her from the start. Her need to know what she was, her past, her care for her friends and how very understanding she was. Yes,she did make mistakes related to her love life but i could understand.I never in my dream who have imagined how the story twisted and changed. The author has introduced a great plat to the readers. You have got to read this book. I can't tell you how shocked I still am with the ending. !!
I found this to be an extremely readable and enjoyable book. I loved the way in which the author created a complex mythology by taking a few familiar characters and stories but twisting ancient history into something uniquely hers. At times I thought maybe a little too much “historical” detail was given and I got slightly confused keeping the various alliances straight occasionally, but overall, I found the whole thing mesmerizing, and I was definitely pulled into all the action. Ally and her friends are likeable; I loved their devotion and commitment when facing formidable odds. This is the opening book in a planned series. It ended at a logical place, but I’m sure we can look forward to plenty more action, additional world-building, and more surprises in the next book.
This book was provided to me by the author in return for my honest review.
Black Amaranth left me breathless. It was such a gripping tale, so complex and well written that I couldn't put it down. I loved how complicated the situations were, how Ally's choice was never clear-cut or easy and how all the characters were complex and never just black and white. The world that Sasha Hibbs created in this book felt so real that I was invested in the story and the challenges Ally was presented with to the point of holding back my breath until I felt dizzy. Although I liked all the characters because they were all portrayed so well, I particularly loved Brandi. There was something in her that made me laugh but also inspired a sense of sadness in me. Once her story was revealed, I knew I was right about her. All in all, a phenomenal first novel. Definitely worth reading.
Mesmerizing and spellbinding! This is a book you'll devour in one sitting. An incredible breakthrough debut YA paranormal novel.
The world building is amazing, the characters stunning, with twists and turns that leave you reeling. Truly original and fresh. I cheered and cried throughout the book.
The twist at the end was a surprise I did not see coming and only left me in want of book 2 in this series!

What I Thought
I couldn't put this book down! The characters, the storyline, the pace, the detail, the crossovers between certain beliefs, fantasy and real life are written to perfection.
I found this book to be a great all-round book. It is perfect for many ages of readers, from teens/YA all the way through to adults. The lessons learned, by Ally, are those which appeal to and happen to all ages, really pulling you in and making you a part of the story. You find yourself relating to the feelings she has, as well as some of the deep feelings we see from the other characters. The drama is great for relating to teens and YA, while still having a mature tone to them.
I loved the pace of this book. There was never a dull moment, always sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting and wondering what would happen next, how would this affect 'the choice' and Ally? I found that though the pace was fast and entertaining, Hibbs was able to layer in the details needed to create rounded, realistic and deep characters.
The storyline was excellent, sticking to great fantasy writing and really incorporates in a favourite style, where real world beliefs/stories are accounted for in this fantasy world. The story also remains realistic, which is great. You close the back cover, having finished the last brilliant line, and half expect to walk outside and see Dave, Jessica or Ally.
OVERALL: I highly highly recommend this book. The writing style, depth, pace and story are brilliant. It is a book that will appeal to a wide age range, and I believe it is appropriate for early teens through to adult.
This is nothing like I have read before and I have to say that I like it no not like Love it!!! This was a 1 person POV story that was told with a true heart of love and losing. The story really grew on me only after a few pages the words really spoke to me. This author did an outstanding job with getting this story across to the readers. Everything I like in a story for YA was in this novel; action, love, lies, and friendship. In which all of those go along way. This story is about opening up and trusting those around you to lead you on the right path but is it really the right one?

What an awesome book... A fantastic mix of legend, mythology and magic... The author hooked me right from the start, a unique story with so many awesome elements. Paranormal and then some! Ms Hibbs combined the seraph, nosforatu, gypsies and magic in a fast paced story of right and wrong and has created a thrilling world that keeps the reader intrigued with it twists and surprising turns. The characters were well developed and suited the setting to make for a really enjoyable YA novel... Would highly recommend this book to readers of all ages and fans of the genre!
I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review...
I fell in love with the characters from the start and found myself talking to the book frequently! Ally is trying to deal with so much all at once and I could feel her guilt and conflict all the way through. I was most impressed with the complex world the author creates. Such a diverse world with an interesting twist to various paranormal themes. The story was well built, finishing off with an exciting and unexpected ending! I'm looking forward to getting stuck straight into Book 2, Black Abaddon!
The book begins very well, the story grabs you from the start, the characters are well described, the author puts us in time and space and storytelling is impeccable! While mythological descriptions of the characters are very original, at times I lost notion of what or who was I reading about. In the middle of the book, the attitude of Ally bored and even annoyed me, but the story had me so caught up that I kept reading and have no regrets! When the end came, the first thing I did was download the sequel to my kindle !! This is a very good book.
I was provided a copy of Black Amaranth by the Author in exchange of an honest review.
I could not put this book down! I was captivated for the beginning! The story wow! I loved the direction the story went and the complex world that was built for us. Love, deception, mystery, good, evil. This was a very original take on this type of mythology.
I can't wait to read the next book, Black Abaddon!...Sara
I was provided this copy for a fair and honest review. Black Amaranth by Sasha Hibbs was a very good young adult book. That and whole lot of paranormal thrown in. The author held your interest from the beginning when we were trying to find out Ally's secret still. The end kinda sucked for our heroine........just makes ya want to read the rest of the series.
Black Amaranth had me on the edge of my seat, staying up late into the night, it had me laughing, crying...everything! I loved this one and cannot wait for the rest of the "Black" series!
So..... There were parts at the beginning of this book that made me think it was going to loose my interest quickly. I was happily surprised however. There were so many tense twists and turns, so many hidden secrets, I was tearing through the last chapters like crazy to find out what would happen. On to the next! I can't wait to find out what is in store for Ally.
I liked this book starting out. To me, it feels like there is a lot missing. We know she was training, but what did she do in said training? This book has just left me confused. If the book was longer and more details, I think I would have liked it more.
I sure hope book 2 improves the characters’ situations, because it’s not looking good. I’m on the edge of my seat. 4 stars would have been 5 if there weren’t so many proofreading errors.
