Evangeline Anderson is a registered MRI tech who would rather be writing. And yes, she is nerdy enough to have a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” Honk if you see her! She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. To her delight, she found that it was actually possible to get money for having a dirty mind and she has been writing paranormal and Sci-fi erotica steadily ever since.

I listened to this story on Audible. the FEMALE narrator made the story unbearable to listen to. I couldn't finish the story.

A simply captivating read, characters that are riveting read and scenario that is action filled
I love the book by Evangeline Anderson and as the second book in this series have been anxiously waiting for this book to follow and I have to say that I was simply blown away for this wonderful read and I guarantee that you will be totally blown away by this book as well.
The two main characters Sirex and phoebe and they see them as real people as secret lives and are presented as special agents on the Mother Ship and now that they are to the special department and Phoebe who was once a member of the police station and has been trained to be a Special Agent by Sirex.
The Kindred Universe is a fully fledged member of the group and they have returned a sacred object that had been stolen and the Kindred have had problems arise almost immediately and realise the importance of retrieving the object. Sirex and Phoebe are suffering as the search and this has lead to some heated incidents but the know that it is important that they stay on target with the mission.
I have to say that once I started reading this book, I found it impossible to put down and read it in one sitting so that I could discover the final outcome and have to say that I was riveted to the outcome throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

I love Evangeline Anderson’s novels, and Darkest Desire is no exception. The two characters, Sirex and Phoebe, are so well fleshed out that it’s easy to see them as real people who lead secret lives. They are presented as Special Agents on the Mother Ship. Although they are named to this special department, I met old friends from the first books Ms. Anderson wrote from the Kindred Universe. Phoebe, once a member of a Police Station, has been trained to be a Special Agent by Sirex. As soon as she becomes a full-fledged member of this group, they are sent on a mission. Their orders are to return a sacred object that was stolen from the Kindred. Because of the planet they are sent to, problems arise almost immediately, and they continue to get worse. Sirex and Phoebe suffer from the stress between them which leads to several steamy scenes. Nothing about this mission is easy. Because I enjoyed Darkest Desire so much, I ended up reading it instead of my planned chores and supper was almost late! This one is found in Kindred Tales. It’s a must-read kind of book.

Oh. My.!
Sirex and Phoebe were shooting sparks at each other at their first meeting, and it only got stronger as their story progressed.
Her needs were his needs, and they acted on them, and we benefited BIG time.
The heat level is off the charts in this!
There are many creepy characters in this story. Downright awful behavior towards females.
I have a skillet that I would have happily used on a character, but someone took care of him in a very satisfying way.
Throughout this book a fan was needed...multiple times.
Scorching doesn't begin to describe this.
However, like in all Ms. Anderson's book, love is a huge and powerful part of it. If we didn't love the main characters, we, I, wouldn't have enjoyed this book or the ending so much!
I highly recommend this book.

Started well but derailed fast.
Just a pretext plot for an escalation of "perverse" acts with a heroine that tops from the bottom a reluctant dom/sadist while playing the damsel in distress "forced to do things she secretly wants" (drugs or external pressure by sleazy secondary characters). Does that sound silly? Yes, it absolutely was & I'm not even talking about the ridiculous names for things & planets & species. It was cringe & I finished the last 1/3 of the book speed reading between my fingers.
PSA: If legal slavery is your kink, consensual or in dark romance form, there are great authors out there, mostly on free websites. This was not it.

Second book of the Twisted System but is written as a standalone. I loved the character of Sirex. A kindred male that thinks badly of himself. But his heart is pure gold. He has a craving/desire to dominate a female and sees it as wrong. One mission with his partner Phoebe to the Twisted System will push all boundaries. Phoebe is a human female that may be the one to help him. But men of all species are stubborn. The story has some darker themes so make sure to read the trigger warnings. It is a very spicy book with a guaranteed happy ever after.

Sirex and Phoebe are a fabulous couple. You get to feel how their connection and trust formed from the beginning. You feel how torn Sirex is between what his desires are and what he feels is acceptable. And I loved how Phoebe is there to help him through it and to help him see that what he wants, what he actually desires, is okay. It’s okay because she wants the same things. They face a lot of challenges on their mission and they are both there for each other. It’s wonderful and beautiful. And so well written!!! I loved every minute of it. :) definitely can’t wait for the next one!

It's hard to deny what you secretly want when situations arise that strip down reservations causing all kinds of emotions to tumble out.
Sirex and fresh out of special agent training, Phoebe are tasked with a mission to retrieve a kindred artifact that is on a planet with a male dominates/woman submits society is norm.
This second book from the Twisted System hits high on the sexy, intrigue and fascinating scale that causes the book to end too soon and wanting more!

Another fantastic addition to the Kindred series! While BDSM isn't typically my thing, I found this installment to be quite tame and surprisingly engaging. It kept me hooked from start to finish, with plenty of intrigue and drama. I especially enjoyed watching Phoebe and Sirex navigate their feelings to achieve the happy ending they deserve. Sirex is a different Kindred, he's half enemy. Which side will win when it comes to love?
On a mission with a new partner their rold playing could be more than they bargained for.
Bringing home an artifact could lead them into dangerous territory.
As usual this author takes us on an exciting ride. Danger, love and as always a happy ending.
