Chisto started writing as a child and it was always his biggest passion, though he is also a musician and artist. When he was forced to quarantine in March 2020 due to the pandemic, he decided to focus on his writing and write full-time and has since had 100 stories accepted to be published, many of which are already out there. He hopes this is only the beginning...
Creepy Crawly... No really my skin is crawling. This novel was amazing. Jump scares, edge of your seat action. Feeling for and from the characters. They (whoever they are) say when you are scared you lose weight from adrenaline maybe, or maybe I made it up. Either way I lost pounds during this read. I had to actually take breaks due to the creepiness of it. The bugs ugh the bugs. I hate bugs but Chisto had me wanting to wear hazmat suits outside. I am going to have to read a romance novel after this to set myself straight again. Wonderful insane freaking job to the author. I recommend! 5 disgustingly creepy flying stars!
WOW. This might be my new favorite! I’m speechless.
Chisto really outdid himself with this one. The writing? Phenomenal per usual. The plot? Captivating and filled with dread, suspense and twists. The characters? Absolutely amazing and I had a genuine appreciation for them all. Specifically Dale. 😭 The ending?! Ohhh My heart….
Insects is the perfect read for anybody who enjoys a thrilling post-apocalyptic adventure. Andrew is on his way to catch his flight when he notices a peculiar man in line. His behavior is off. Suddenly he begins to feast on a person… Andrew is immediately shocked and thrown to act quick before he’s next. There’s a bug that’s infecting people and once it’s inside, there’s no stopping it. Call it a zombie wasp. That’s quite literally the best term for it.
Andrew makes his way out of the airport and searches for a vehicle to escape and stumbles upon a young woman. She of course thinks he’s bonkers but after she experiences this infestation before her own eyes she quickly agrees to flee the airport with him. Along the way, Andrew is continuously checking himself to see if the bugs have made it into him. He makes it to his family home and rescues his younger sister before it takes her like the rest of their family.
From the moment Andrew rescues his sister this story starts to really hit in the feels. You can’t help but appreciate the genuine love that the siblings share for each other. The way Chisto depicted the personalities and feelings of all of the characters involved in this story was a job well done. He truly poured all of his energy into this story and it shows. It was such a wonderful and gripping novel that had me hooked from the first page and I never wanted it to end.
This book deserves an award. One of the best stories I’ve ever read.
Andy saw the danger straight away. He saw what others couldn't. He didn't know what was happening, but he knew for damn sure he needed to get the hell out of there no matter what! Like a rat off a sinking ship he weaved and dodged his way through the airport before chaos erupted. No way was he going to end up LIKE THAT GUY!
'Insects' definitely has that World War Z ticking time bomb urgency that keeps your eyes glued to the story. It's always interesting when a weak solipsistic antihero is thrown into a life and death situation with intelligent insects and hordes of cannibal's, only to come out on the other side a little bit more 'Negan'.

I love asking what creatures would be the scariest if they were infected. The answer for me wouldn't be rats, monkeys, or even frogs for that matter, see what I did there, lol.
No, the answer is Insects. Chisto has finally written the book of my nightmares. I'm already scared of Insects as it is, but this story takes it further. It's disgusting as heck, but man was it a fun read. He sure outdid himself with this book.
If you enjoy creature features, this is for you. I must say the ending... potential sequel? I sure hope so because the adventures of the survivors isn't quite over, at least for me. Go read it today!
What I really enjoyed from the start of this book is the way main character’s journey evolved. Andrew doesn’t want to be a hero. He wants to escape the breakout to find his family and get them to safety. “Insects” offers one action-horror packed chapter after another. And by the end Andrew is definitely a changed man.
A relentless horror from start to finish. If you like creature features crossed with manic zombies then you’re gonna love “Insects!”
This book was exciting, gross, and very well thought out. The plot was well developed. The world building/explanation was very well explained. In my personal opinion maybe a bit too extensive, but it didn't ruin my reading experience. I certainly thoroughly enjoyed this book and therefore definitely recommend it! It's not a good book to get rid of your insect phobia in any case, haha.
I was hooked from the cover and description and really enjoyed getting to read this, it had that element that I wanted and was engaged with the concept. It made me squirm and had that horror element that I was looking for. I enjoyed the way Chisto Healy wrote this and am excited for more.

Cannibal-like insects that take over a person! Chisto brings us fast paced action, hair turning events, and pure gore in this romp through a zombie like invasion of insects. These zombie bugs invade the person and make them act like cannibals. Andrew sees this and must get home to save his sister. The jump scares alone keep you turning the pages.
The tone of this gruesome story is set very quickly. It is a fast and furious journey through a godawful insect invasion. I wish my minds eye had poked itself out.
Overall, great concept. It had some great gore and held my attention but was unnecessarily long and left me with questions that weren’t answered. Book would’ve been fine at 300 page instead of 400.
