The Hacker’s Monarchy is one of those rare dystopian novels that doesn’t just build a world, it challenges your perception of it. Dan Haddock crafts a society where equality has been pushed to such an extreme that it becomes oppressive, and that concept alone makes this story deeply compelling from the start.

What truly impressed me was the originality of the “hackers” themselves. These aren’t your typical digital rebels, they possess an almost mystical ability to manipulate reality, which adds a fascinating layer of magical realism to a futuristic setting. It’s a bold creative choice, and it works remarkably well.

The narrative unfolds with a strong sense of purpose. As the story follows a young runaway and the last descendant of a powerful lineage, the stakes feel consistently high. There’s a clear tension between survival and resistance, and the idea of an extermination list adds urgency that keeps the pages turning.

The world-building is expansive without feeling overwhelming. From the reimagined urban ruins to the hidden networks of resistance, every setting feels intentional and alive. Haddock clearly put thought into how this society functions and more importantly, how it fractures.

At its core, this book is about power who controls it, who fears it, and who dares to challenge it. If you’re a fan of dystopian fiction that blends action with deeper philosophical undertones, The Hacker’s Monarchy is absolutely worth diving into.

Their existence defies the new order, condemning them to persecution and extermination.

Amid the chaos, a young runaway crosses paths with the last living heir of a legendary hacker bloodline. When they uncover a classified extermination list naming the most gifted hackers still alive, they become the unlikely guardians of the final resistance. The fate of freedom itself rests on their ability to outwit the World Government’s brutal regime.

From the savage spectacle of Atlanta’s blood-soaked Colosseum, to the haunted ruins of New York, to the neon shadows of Neo Las Vegas, their journey unearths buried legacies, desperate alliances, and impossible choices. Every step brings them closer to the truth, and to a rebellion that may be humanity’s last stand.

The Hacker’s Monarchy is a visceral, action, driven dystopian adventure infused with threads of magical realism. Perfect for fans of sci, fi, action, and dark dystopian worlds, it’s a high, stakes fight for survival, rebellion, and the power hidden within those who refuse to bow
