She escaped hell once only to find the devil's followed her back home.
After escaping her abusive ex-husband David, Jane Trebble has rebuilt her life in Cambridge and found happiness again. But her newfound peace shatters when David suddenly reappears, supposedly a reformed family man. Despite warnings from those close to her, Jane reluctantly allows David back into her life out of a lingering trauma-fuelled impulse.
As David charms his way closer under the guise of making amends, strange incidents undermine Jane at work and home. Is David up to his old tricks or is something else at play here?
Desperate to prove her suspicions, Jane risks everything to uncover the truth about David’s return. But she soon realises the David she knew and the charming facade he now wears conceals something far more sinister. Tragic news and an explosive confrontation make Jane see she underestimated the dangerous situation she’s in. Escape may no longer be an option as Jane gets trapped.
Can Jane survive with her sanity and future intact?
The brilliant new domestic psychological thriller from Aaron Quinn. Perfect for fans of Daniel Hurst, A J Carter, B.A. Paris, Nicole Trope, and K.L. Slater.
Jane spent the whole book as a nervous, jumpy, whining woman who feared her ex was intent on doing her harm. What a boring, miserable story. More than once I hoped the ex would "bump her off". Nothing much happens apart from listening to this needy woman whimper on and on! There's a few hours of my life I won't get back!
Boy oh boy, what can I say about The Ex-Husband? It's a powerful and hard hitting psychological thriller with one heck of a twist that I didn't see coming!
After years of emotional, psychological, and physical abuse from her husband David, Jane finally with the help from her friend Anita finds the courage to leave and divorce him.
Now settled down in Cambridge, far enough from her old life in Norfolk Jane has her own home, a job and friends which she loves and a wonderful boyfriend Mark.
One evening whilst coming home she thinks she sees David, helping out at a soup kitchen for the homeless, but she must be mistaken as what would David be doing so far away from their old life? Panic starts to set in as the memories come flooding back and she needs to know if it was really him she saw or was it just her imagination running away with her? When things take a sudden turn for the worst and David approaches her in the street claiming that he's a changed man after finding God and that he is living in Cambridge with his new partner and son and all he wants is to put the past behind them. Jane knows him far to well and she can't trust a thing that comes out of his mouth and basically tells him to leave her alone.
But when things start happening at work, random emails that can't be tracked and suddenly important files go missing she knows that David must be behind everything that is happening but how he's doing it she has no idea.
Then things go from bad to worse and it starts to affect her relationship with Mark, the only one that makes her feel truly safe.
Can she escape David's controlling and multiplied ways again before someone gets hurt or worse?
A very tense and hard hitting psychological thriller,
This is a belter of a psychological thriller, one where I had real sympathy for the ‘victim’.
Jane has managed to turn her life around after her divorce from her abusive husband, David. She has a new partner, Mark, moved to Cambridge & is settled in her job. It has taken her a few years to realise that she is ok & can begin to relax. Then she sees him. Just a glimpse. But he is there. Her world is about to disintegrate as her manipulative ex starts to wheedle his way into her life once more.
I loved this book. David is an absolutely vile character & Mark is adorable; but poor Jane. Once the tension starts to build there is no respite; I couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know where the story was going, Jane has plenty of work colleagues & a best friend to support her too but her life is spiralling. What a ride!
O.M.G I loved it........ It was intense, eerie at times made the hairs on my arms stand on end. When Jane moves to a different city with the help of a friend, the future is looking rosey, a job she enjoys, a new man, a new home. Will her future give her the solice she craves? When Files start to disappear at work having been deleted, and notes are pushed under her door at home, what is going on? Will jane ever be able to get away from the past. Great second book in a new genre for this author..... highly recommend
Oh! My! Stars! What a story. It has everything the thriller reader needs: characters you hate, blood pressure-raising action, unexpected revelations, excellent narration, and a compelling storyline. Don't start this book when you have unavoidable things on your schedule because you will be unhappy if you have to put it down. I highly recommend it and can't wait to see what Mr. Quinn comes up with next. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this review is my honest opinion.
Brilliantly written book about domestic violence. The ex husband finds Jane and won’t leave her alone, she finally gives in thinking like he is a reformed character, edge of your seat excitement throughout I loved it. 5 stars from me.
I appreciated the story plot, but it was too repetitive for me. In fact skipped or read a little of many pages, particularly through the first half. It seemed to unfortunately drag on too much for me.
Loved this book. Very emotional reading about the abuse and its impact and how it can control the life of a victim so much even long after the abuse has ended. Enjoyed the twist - I actually suspected Mark behind the cameras but happy it wasn’t!

At 1st I thought maybe I had read this book before but I had not. Right away I assumed who was the bad people but then I kind of questioned myself . so there was some twist and turns which is good to keep you going with the psychological thriller. I would recommend this book to you it's easy read. I would read at night before I went to bed and I couldn't stop reading so I went to bed late for a few nights.
There was a time in the book that had me on the edge of my seat, however, it then fell apart. The culprit was unrealistic and after awhile I read enough dialogue about Mark and David
