Grace was always at the forefront of fashion. So much so that she went beyond mere implants, spending a fortune on a genetic patch. But when her formerly timid friend Naomi exceeds even Grace's ostentations, deposes Grace from her own social circle, and starts a relationship with her friend Rick, things begin to get sticky.


Kudos is a short story with a sting in the tail. Set an unspecified number of years into the near future, it follows the fate of four friends as they compete to be the darlings of the social scene.

Written by R. Curtis Venture and previously only published on now-obsolete web sites, this story was believed lost to a faulty hard drive. It was recently unexpectedly found in the depths of an old .zip file. Now, re-edited and re-formatted for the ebook generation, with a contemporary cover, it is available for the first time as a standalone volume.


This edition now includes an excerpt from "Armada Steal From The Devil", due for release late 2013.

There is no violence, sexually-explicit content, or profane language in this story.
There is a scene of very mild 'body horror'.
There are two uses of "God" and one of "Jesus" as expressions of astonishment.

R. Curtis Venture was born in the United Kingdom in the late Seventies. His first great passion was for science fiction, both in books and on the screen, and he spent his childhood years imagining other worlds. A graduate of Applied Biology, he is — through an unlikely but plausible series of circumstances — now employed full-time in the legal sector.

When not consumed in a creative binge, his free time is mostly spent hiking up mountains or through forests, camping in the wilderness, reading widely, or working towards the current goal of 2,000 films watched.
