I was pretty surprised how good this was. Sylvia Hubbard isn't an author I know and when I came across her book, I was like wellllll why not? It is full of action packed drama and honestly some of it blew my fricken mind. It's worth the read but the ending sucked for me!
Ok so I literally read this book in one day!! Of course I finished a little after midnight so it looks like two days. I started it around 11am and finished by 12:15am (the kiddies interrupted mommy a few times). Let's just start by saying this book actually tugged at my heart. Kimberly had a tough childhood and early adulthood. From a drug addict mother who abandoned her and her brother, a greedy Uncle who had no love for his own family, a father who she knew very little of...like when does it get better for Kimberly. Her love for her brother is heart-warming, she puts him before herself often in this book. But I think it was in fate's design to bring the cold-hearted Jaelen in her life. I believe the needed each other from the moment they crossed paths.
Sylvia once again ties an unlikely, sad story into a true love-story. Not without multiple twists and turns. She never disappoints with providing a page turning semi-thriller read with sprinkles of lustful passionate encounters.
What spoke to my soul out of this read is to live for yourself, fight for your freedom, confront your past, and never give up. This was true for Kimberly and Jaelen. While they were on different paths, they both learned life lessons. They no longer lived in the past but learned from the past to embrace the present and look forward to the future. This isn't something easy to accomplish and doesn't happen overnight. That's the point. You learn to better appreciate life and yourself when you have to go through something to reach that realization. I love the fact Sylvia forces each character in this book to go on a journey of self-examination. Some will come out on top and others....well read the book to find that out.
Another satisfying read from Sylvia's collection.

The basic storyline was good. I'm not sure why the author made the 'extra' stories so confusing. It was a two steps forward ten steps back. Had there been consistency in the story I would have awarded 4 stars. One other problem I had was the use of Elijah and Eliah in the start of the story. It made it look like an error rather than a story related explanation.
Her books are always all over the place and never any real love with the main characters. Her sex scenes always start off hot and heavy but end flat. And let's not talk about the grammar errors. Im done with her.
