Erin Monahan reformed her bad girl ways, only to discover the good girl act can’t save her marriage. Now the novelist-turned-perfect-wife is hiding out in a love hotel with a bottle of two buck chuck, devolving into a drinker with a writing problem. Recognizing the slide down the slippery slope of bad-to-worse, she calls for reinforcements. Her college friends organize a weekend reunion in small town Vermont.
Ellen has money. She also has secrets. Maggie wants to leave her marriage to track down the baby she gave up for adoption. Sandy’s sick of men; she’s having a go with her paralegal. Erin doesn't feel so alone in her mid-life confusion.
When Ellen proposes a business venture, a retreat for middle-aged bad girls, Erin thinks she’s crazy. Then Erin meets Roberto, a hot Cuban chef. Soon she decides she doesn’t want the mango to end. Neither does anyone else.
Originally from Boston, Mickey J. Corrigan lives and writes and gets into trouble in South Florida, where the men run guns and the women run after them.
This is neither a category romance nor a steamy novella in the strict sense - it's not wall to wall sex, nor is it in fact, wall to wall romance. What it is, in truth, is a piece of thoughtful women's fiction - with a mango recipe or two thrown in! It reminds me, in a way, of Norah Ephron's romantic comedy HEARTBURN from about two decades back. And I liked this just as much as I liked that.
Everyone knows for a fact that when a bunch of males(of the human species) get together, without the civilizing influence of 'ladies' (not women! Ladies!), the pack instinct kicks in and the testosterone takes over. The air probably turns blue with the expletive language and bawdy talk. Well I'm here to tell you that when a bunch of females of the same species gets together, the air doesn't exactly turn pink as they swop recipes, discuss the baby's colic and exchange notes on the best concealer to use! Hell, no! The air probably turns even bluer than it does in the presence of males. And when a bunch of women (not ladies! Women, my friends is who we really are when males are NOT present) who have known each other in their formative days and who have supported each other through the ups and downs of life, well, the language can get red hot.
Erin Monahan, the main character, is a redheaded east coast Irish American woman who finds herself a redundant wife at fifty. Having played the wife and mother role, she finds herself replaced by a sexpot half her age. There's only one remedy for the lousy way she's feeling right now. Tap into her network of women friends. A wild weekend ensues in which Erin and her pals drink themselves under the table, swop life experience stories and generally put their world to rights. Erin, it subsequently transpires, is not the only one who has issues. Sandy has them too. And Maggie and Ellen. And mangoes and romance play a role in the story, but I'm zipping my lips on this one. Go get the book and find out. Okay?
This was the perfect time and season for me to read this book. I'm fifty this year. And the mango season has been going on in India.
The perfect activity for a couple during the mango season is for him to peel, cut and cube the mangoes and feed it to the woman, one cube at a time.
In Me Go Mango by Mickey J. Corrigan: We follow the long time friendship of four friends. Ellen, Sandy, Maggie and Erin. They have stood the test of time even if their marriages have not. At times they are bitchy and downright rude to each other.
When the book opens we see Ellen talking Erin into coming to Vermont for a girl’s weekend, after Erin catches her husband in bed with a much younger woman, she then finds out her husband has bilked investors out of their money in what sounds like a ponzi scheme. She had been in hiding in a cheap hotel but jumps at the chance to get away. While together they relive pass mistakes and memories and talk about moving their friendship into a partnership. Erin also manages to meet Roberto who helps her forget the nightmare her life has become.
While I am for a girlie get away, this one was a hit and miss for me. Sandy seemed to be there for Erin when she gave her a much needed makeover. And they all pulled together in the end to help Maggie with her personal problem. But the flow of this story just did not work for me. I guess what I am suppose to take from this book is while marriages come and go, these friends are there for each other to the very end. But a lot of the time there was more trash talking to and about each other.
On a footnote here, this novella also offers what sounds like amazing recipes. Unfortunately for this reader I am highly allergic to Mango’s. Readers will be able to find recipes for what sounds like some wonderful Mango dishes and drinks.
Holy cow!! She has done it again!! Every time I think I know what is going to happen Mickey throws me a curve and leaves me shaking my head wondering what the heck just happened!! Adrianna and her dreams were so friggin hot........she dreams of her boss, Hamm and Davis and they are super hot and erotic and when she wakes up she wonders if the dreams are real because she is feeling exhausted!
The twists and turns in Dream Job will keep you flipping the pages like mad........you have to know what is going to happen and before you know it, youre finished and screaming for more!! Which is exactly why I love this author!! Well done Mickey!!
Erin catches her husband in bed with a younger woman. She also finds out that he has stolen money from his investors in a Ponzi scheme. Now she hiding out in a cheap hotel trying to figure out what to do with her life when her friend, Ellen takes Erin, Sandy and Maggie away for a girl’s weekend. They have been friends forever, through college, marriage, children and divorce. They drink, talk and cry over the weekend. They all have secrets. Will they spill them? Ellen introduces Erin to Roberto because she thinks they are a good match. As the weekend comes to an end, Ellen offers them a business proposal. Will they accept it? Will they work together? It’s a business that all of them could be involved or not. Will Erin and Roberto continue to see each other? They live in different states. I loved this book. Loved that women can succeed after their marriages end. Worth the read
Dream Job Adrianna gets a job at DreamCorp International. Since she’s met her boss, she been dreaming of him and they feel so real. She has to test the company’s dream software in the hot tub with her boss. She tries to ignore his touch that drives her to ecstasy. She also is in love with him. Now she’s having dreams of Davis, an old lover of hers. One she regrets ever sleeping with. He’s obsessed with her. It’s like he’s stalking her in her dreams. She’s so confused. She doesn’t understand what is happening and she needs to ask her boss. Will he tell her the truth? Is her love for her boss real? Will Davis find her? What is going on? This is a book I didn’t think I would like. It’s a good read.
A fast paced novella which got me thinking and nodding at the end of the story, the possibility of what I read could happen... which I can't say here with out giving the entire plot away, but you'll know what I mean when you read Dream Job my Mickey J Corrigan, a May ebook release.
Adrianna has a test driver position at a Dream software company; mixed in between her day life she is plagued by HOT dreams about her boss, The dreams feel so real spill over to real life almost. Then to make life more complicated her sad sack of an excuse of an ex boyfriend is trying to get back together...
Like all Mickey J Corrigan books the main character is a zany wonderfully likable character who always finds herself in the most incredible predicaments. Adrianna is no different. Unable to get any other job she signs up for her dream job, having no clue what it entails but hey the boss is H.O.T so what does she have to loose. Then things get really strange (in a great way) and she has to unravel what is going on. Things are not as they seem in more ways than one.
An entertaining and thought provoking read which I really liked and recommend. In terms of genre I think it's a mix of lashing of adult content, with light sci fi tones novella.
I read this on the treadmill... and was so caught up, I realised I was still walking 45 mins later! Great workout!
"Dream Job" by Mickey J Corrigan takes place in hot, steamy Southern Florida. We have our heroine Adrianna, Charlton 'Hamm' her boss, and Davis and man who falls for her. She has dreams about both men. Considering she works for a company called 'DreamCorp International' things become a little heated in her dreams. Things begin to happen in those dreams some good, some erotic, and some not so good. If you've watched "The Twilight Zone" as a kid it's something akin to that where things in her dreamworld begin to manifest themselves in the real world.
Not for younger readers but definitely keeps the reader thinking. I liked this book.
Four longtime friends who haven’t seen each other in two decades, come together in Vermont. They are all middle aged now and still drink, swear and go after HOT guys just like they used to in their younger days. One drinks like a fish out of water while another drinks and at least realizes she needs to slow down or stop. One of them cries at the drop of a hat while the other is too stuck up dealing with the others.
It is rather comical in parts and sad in others. Erin takes the plunge and hooks up with a cook at a restaurant and what a cook he is!
I want to live in Lime Key. Seriously, it sounds like Heaven.
I would recommend this book. It’s a little slow at first but once it takes off, you can’t stop reading.

DREAM JOB by Mickey J Corrigan is contemporary romance meets erotic fantasy. This is not your typical novella. Suspenseful and different with likable characters, tight dialogue and splashes of steamy scenes and you've got yourself a short, delicious read.
Recommended to readers who love short, steamy fantasy stories 4/5 Stars
A dream in a dream is the reality? Or reality in itself is a dream?
Trying to answer such complex life question in very few words, the story portrays how we have the power to change our fate. Be it our past, present or the future.
The message of the book is There is a story behind every person, thoughts behind their expressions, emotions behind their feelings, and a soul beneath their skin.
Each one of us, throughout life, goes through moments, lives through experiences, and meets certain people that, inevitably, will leave a mark on us. Even those circumstances or people that we believe would pass through unnoticed seem to reappear in some way later in our lives.
This affects our experiences and our feelings, in ways that may be intense or passive, that we may be aware of or not even conscious they are happening; they give us light and darkness, and how that person is experiencing a given situation
Every woman want a good or a perfect life there is a person, a strong but sensitive soul that has its own wounds and scars, that has its own story
We can learn from it if we learn to understand appreciate and embrace it with respect
Two good, short Novellas. Very easy to read, and hot. In this book you're introduced to four friends who went to school together; Erin, Sandy, Ellen, and Maggie. Each woman has a story and they try their hardest to show the world that they are strong, tough, and still have their game on.
Every woman dreams of being married to the perfect husband, having the kids and white picket fences house, and just generally being happy.
But what happens, and this does happen a lot, is that sometimes the "perfect" husband takes off and finds himself a younger model to play with.
Leaving the woman to deal with the leftovers of what was once a good life. Or even worse the husband is around but not really around!
In this read I was introduced to four woman, old school chums Erin, Sandy, Ellen and Maggie. Each woman has a story and each one tries her hardest to show the outside world that they are just as strong, tough and "young" as they use to be.
On a reunion weekend all four woman hit rock-bottom after spending hours catching up and having drink after drink. The author reveals each one's secrets and as reader I could pick up on what each one is hiding and I could realise what each woman would need to do to get over it, and move their lives in the right direction.
The characters were all described in vivid colour as we learn how the one is a alcoholic and thus the booze has taken it's toll and she now is left with the wrinkles and bad hair do to prove it, and the other well she has all the evidence that a middle aged woman has let herself go after she got married.
The backdrop setting was at first one of the same inner turmoil the woman are fighting but as the story unfolded the author let the "young woman in a old woman's body" come alive by incorporating the calm, serenity and fun groove of island life.
The dialogue was at times one that would make most woman cringe as not all appreciate a swear word, but when reading you will pick up that some moments called for it as the woman all momentarily loose their way.
At other times the dialogue was fun and inviting, the author slowly let me as reader glide from the terror of being alone to being old and loving it.
I highly recommend this read for readers that like a life lesson story of lessons learned and remembered, when life knocks you down, get up and fight back, in the end it will be worth it.
5/5 star review " Getting their mango-groove back has never been this much fun"
Genre: Sci Fi / Short Story / Romance Suspense My Review:
“Dream Job” takes dreams and science fiction, merges them and takes them to a completely different level altogether. The story starts in a typical manner with a passing relationship that ends abruptly and an erotic crush on the boss. But very soon, a twists comes with the concept of dream stalking. Is it really dream stalking? Or is it just the subconscious mind working over time? Very soon, as the story comes to an end, another dramatic twist comes which completely shifts the story upside down and brings another whole new concept of dream editing using technology.
Although the start is a bit confusing and soon into the story, it feels like it is going neither here nor there, that is how Mickey wants us to feel while she prepares to deliver the final punch in the end. There are some sensual scenes in the book, but they are tastefully done and does not appear vulgar or too erotic. The story, however, is not for everyone. It can only be understood and appreciated by those who like science fiction. It is slightly heavy and requires imagination to grasp the suspense and climax of the story. For others, the subtlety can be easily lost, thereby missing out on the whole point of the book. That is the only drawback of the book. Otherwise it is a bomb in a small package. Star Rating : 4.5 Stars
Maybe I’m simple minded, but I don’t tend to like the “mind f*ck” type stories. I usually have trouble following them. This book is one of those. We’re in Adrianna’s POV exclusively throughout the book, and as the reader, we’re just as confused as she is. It becomes extremely difficult to tell what’s real and what’s not, which adds mystery, yes, but also adds frustration.
I also was not a particular fan of the writing style. The breaks were more disorienting than helpful, and I couldn’t follow the flow of time through the entire second chapter at all. There are a couple steamy moments in the book, and a couple funny ones, but overall there was nothing that really stood out as memorable. I guess the bottom line is that it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Calling these women friends is a stretch, the cat fighting, behind-the-back gossiping and the judgmental approach that they have toward one another is less friendship and more comfort after long acquaintance, a chance to escape and drink too much reliving the halcyon days of university.
Most of the story is told from Erin’s point of view: recently separated from a Madoff imitating financial advisor, she has a noticeably distinct point of view that wavers from self-indulgent to judgmental to lovesick puppy.
When one of the foursome introduces an idea for a retreat for women in the ‘third stage’ of their life, the reactions are mixed: but plans are made to move forward. Covering a 3 day weekend, the plot was rushed and there was no real solid feel of the “retreat’ beyond a lengthy epilogue that felt more like a time share sales pitch.
Romance was thin, the characters were flat, the situation and their ‘reunion’ felt forced. It was a retelling of a tale often heard, without a great deal of imagery or uniqueness. To the positive, there are some wonderful recipes that use mango as a key ingredient: those are worth the price of the book for mango fans.
I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Dream Job Kindle Edition by Mickey J. Corrigan Mickey J. Corrigan has written a book that keeps you thinking is this really happening. Adrianna is a gal who likes to drink a bit too much. She comes back one night to the liquor store one night after she had a good amount to drink and flirts with Davis the liquor store owner. He promptly takes her home and makes love to her. She is from a very small town and her pick of men is very slim. She applies for a job with DreamCorp International. That first night after she met her new boss, Charlton Hamm she begins to have dreams about him. These are not regular dreams but pure sexual dreams and ones that when she wakes up in the morning feels like she had very much exercised all night. At any point in the store you sit back and think now is she dreaming all this or is some of this happening to her in real live. It is a fast read and very well written for just a mix of reality versus dreaming. There is enough steamy love making in it to catch that interest. She does actually make love with Davis however he does not satisfy her totally and she had never actually other than in dreams made love with Hamm’s. The Dream Job is as bizarre as her dreams are.
Well, now that my mind has officially been blown let me introduce you to the wonderfully weird novella that is Dream Job.
I suppose when you're reading a book about dreams and the manipulation of them you should be prepared for some weirdness. Mix that with the odd personalities of the main players and what you get is a downright bizarre experience. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Dream Job, it just had different 'feeling' than what I was expecting. Think The Matrix + The Twilight Zone.
Adrianna, the female lead, comes off a bit harsh at the beginning. She drinks a tad too much and casually dismisses Davis, a guy that fancies himself in love with her. Hamm is her new boss that she falls instantly for. Both keep turning up in her dreams; Davis in an antagonistic roll and Hamm in a more erotic one. Davis isn't really trying to abduct her in her dreams, and Hamm isn't really her lover? They're just silly dreams? Right?
For something a little different check out Dream Job. You'll come away with a delightfully surreal experience you'll not soon forget.
Adrianna O'Baniff is copy editor looking to get hire by Dream Corp International. Adrianna has been having strange dreams where she sleeps with her boss Charlton Hamm but she knows that can't be right either. She also has dreams about Davis which lead her to call him a dreamstalker. Adrianna feels like she's losing her mind as well as sleep over all of this dreaming. Adrianna doesn't know who to turn to about these dreams. Can Adrianna trust her boss? What do these dreams mean? Your answers await you in Dream Job.
Mickey J. Corrigan has a knack for storytelling that I've not found in many other authors even though I have favorites. I really do enjoy her style of storytelling whether it's fifty pages or two hundred pages. The story is intriguing, compelling, and unique. The characters are original, raw, flawed, and compelling. Definitely look forward to more work from this author in the future.
In DREAM JOB, sometimes your dreams can hurt you. When Adrianna starts work at DreamCorp International, she starts having bizarre dreams – sexy ones about her hunky new boss and frightening ones about an ex-lover. DREAM JOB is told exclusively from Adrianna’s point of view which means the readers is as in the dark as Adrianna and learns along with her. This makes DREAM JOB convoluted and confusing at times. While I have loved the author’s other works I’ve read to date, DREAM JOB seemed more like an ‘Inception’ type novel which didn’t work out as well. Still, DREAM JOB has an interesting premise and some good characters.
Dream job is about Arianna and her work at a company called "Dream Corp International" that is developing software to control your dreams. Truly a good book for lovers of science fiction and mystery, written in her POV and it follows her from her passing relationship and the fact of her feelings for her boss. Finding out whether the dreams are subconscious or is it dream stalking . There are twists and turns and you are kept deep into the story following what will happen next. A science fiction lovers book and it will leave you wanting more.
I really enjoyed this world, pulled in by the great pace and rich characters. The story builds well and intertwines in ways you won't expect. A guaranteed enjoyable read.
