Lorien Howell is an estate manager at Oxford law firm Convo & Convo, who is seduced by her G3 whistleblowing client to join him in liberating mankind from The Global Gambling Game or WAR WORLD. Of course, she doesn't believe him, in fact she despises his lunatic ramblings, until the evidence starts to mount in his favour and she finally sees what kind of a sick and manipulative (and wasted) world she inhabits.
I'm not a fan of the term/genre Slipstream, but I sure hope that's what this is, that this book deals with a fictional alternate-reality and not the reality we are living in.
Could it be true that we are living in a G3 (Global Gambling Game) where corporations are playing with our lives, toying with us? I fear that answer.
This is a good start to Philbin's War World series and equally disturbing as his Custodian series. And I don't think it's happenstance that the books for these two series are releasing at the same time. I think we're meant to combine the hidden truths from both of them to understand the world we live in
