Fear Sunshine

Rate this book
Seven years ago, Darksmith Manor was sealed off from the world. A dynasty of monster-makers ended, but Fear, the greatest, most vile creation of the Darksmith legacy, still yearned for their power. Frustrated by the closed Manor, and therefore incapable of claiming what he considered to be his for the taking, the menace shifted his evil intentions elsewhere.

Now, the only person able to stop Fear from spreading rampant terror is the one he thought to be locked away in Darksmith Manor. The time has come for the last Darksmith to return and claim her birthright, whether she believes in monsters, or not.

There couldn't be a better character than the little girl named Sunshine (with her beloved stuffed bunny arm) to be the heir and genius behind something as dark and sinister as Darksmith Manor - the place where all monsters are created. Of course, when she finds this out from Death himself (a family friend) her adventures are just beginning.

It was fun to follow Sunshine as she dove into a pretty dark adventure--mostly because she, herself, isn't dark at all. Packed with humor and love, this story takes a delicious twist on monsters and all those things which go bump in the night. It's great for kids; there are fearful monsters, but that doesn't mean they all really need to be feared. Sunshine is accompanied by a terrific cast of friends to help her along her way, ones kids will wish they could meet too. The strength of friendship and working together will leave kids with a sunny feeling inside.

The writing is well done, and there are wonderful illustrations sprinkled through out the story. I'm always glad to see these in books for this age group.

I can only recommend this to kids 8+ and bet they'll dream of building monsters themselves.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

one's attention and focus! I recommend this ebook for older children and adults who are ready for scary pictures and story of good versus evil with Sunshine leading the war against a very vile and wicked monster named Fear! I received this ebook free to read and to do reviews on it with an unbiased thoughts! Great work Donovan! By Angela

I adored this book. Fear & Sunshine is about a little girl named Sunshine, who finds out that she is the heir to Darksmith Manor, and that she comes from a line of monster creators. The story follows Sunshine on her journey to and rebuilding of Darksmith Manor, while she faces Fear, a creation by her father. Sunshine is a delight to follow characterwise, and I loved all the characters that join her on her adventure. The illustrations are a nice complement to the story as well.
