Ezzie Lovegreen lives in a world where witches and ghosts are real. That doesn’t mean she’s not surprised when she’s suddenly being haunted by one at school.
With the help of her best friend Stella, her boyfriend Beau, and her grandmother Winifred, Ezzie must find out what happened to the ghost and set her free.
Secrets will be revealed that could change Ezzie’s life forever. Will Ezzie be strong enough to face the challenges set in her path?
I started writing in 2011 and it quickly became a passion for me. I'm very lucky that writing brought so many amazing people into my life! And it also brought me the love of being a cheerleader! I learned that aside from writing, I love helping other authors reach for their own dreams. If you need someone in your corner, please don't hesitate to message me!
I promise to write up a full review when I'm no longer sick :P I really enjoyed the deeper paranormal edge in Haunted U. Magic always piques my interest, but the story didn't stop there. Merpeople, witches, warlocks, and ghosts also joined the show, and it'll be interesting to see what else develops over the series. This was an excellent start and if you enjoy the new adult genre, paranormal/UF then pick this one up.
This book did a wonderful job of introducing us to the key players. Each one was lovable in their own ways, but I really loved Ezzie and Stella's friendship. It was a different twist, and well, I like different things. It keeps a reader on their toes.
Beau and Ezzie, they are a sweet duo, and something tells me we havn't seen the last of them. I'm really looking forward to seeing their relationship progress too.
The world was solid and I couldn't find holes (I always look :P) The merpeople actually ended up being my favorite addition. I haven't read a lot about them in fiction, but I'm a fan of the Celtic/Scandinavian myths.
The only question I was left with was when's the next one coming out?
As always, Jessica delivered a stellar story that entertained and left me wanting more.
I love stories with the paranormal or even the unusual. This book was great and sucked me right in. I was lucky to get an ARC of it and the romance that the auhor incorporates really just ties the story together that much better. This was a very quick read for me, which I like from time to time.
The one thing that I really liked about this book was that the characters were easily relatable. They do all the normal things that kids their age do like attending college and having relationships, except they have paranormal abilities. Ezzie was by far my favorite character. I loved how even though she had the abilities she did not want to be seen using them because it would cause other people around her to shy away or feel uncomfortable. Her relationship that she has with Beau is so adorable. Beau is such a sweet guy and I know that a lot of people that read this book will have wished that they had a relationship like they do when they were younger. Reading as their relationship blossomed was truly endearing. The ghosts in the story were also very humorous and had me sucked into their stories.
Jessi Gibson made the story easy to relate to and to feel like you were there with the descriptions of the scenes. I wanted to jump in the story sometimes and be hanging out with the characters like we were the best of friends. There were things that got wrapped up in this book and there were little introductions to other things to come. This was a great opener to what seems like will be a fantastic series to keep on reading. I give this FIVE stars and can not wait to get my hands on the next installment of the series.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this novel for my open and honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.
Haunted U by Jessica Gibson is a fun paranormal story with a sweet romance. I don’t read many books that surround ghosts or merpeople, but I really enjoyed this one. The story was quick to catch my attention and keep me interested. I found it to be a light and entertaining read.
The characters in Haunted U are personable. They lead normal lives; college, dinners, dating, yard work, but add in the supernatural. I liked Ezzie’s character a lot. She doesn’t want to hurt people or make anyone uncomfortable, but she still seems completely at ease with who she is. Even when she doesn’t have all the answers she stays true to herself. I enjoyed her relationship with Beau. He is a sweet guy, beyond sweet at times. He had moments where I found myself thinking “awww”. Their relationship is another example of love over time. The immediate spark can be fun, but I really love the stories where they find their love over time. Her grandma Winifred was great. Her dedication to helping others is wonderful and something I really enjoyed. Some of my favorite characters ended up being the ghosts. Gerald was by far the funniest, and I enjoyed learning Charlie’s story.
The settings were beautiful. I would love to get into my favorite part, but that would be a spoiler. Jessica Gibson made places come alive though. I think that Haunted U is a great start to a series. I liked how the issues were resolved, as well as the introductions to new issues for future books. I will be excited to see the next book in this series.
I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
Ezzie Lovegreen is a witch. She's known that she was a witch her whole life since both of her parents are witches as well. She has friends that are witches, some that have accepted it and some that have not, and friends who are normal people who are aware of the witchy world. Ezzie is special though. The supernatural world has come abuzz with knowledge about her when all she really wants is to help a ghost move on, fall in love, and graduate college. She gets a lot more than that though.
Her friend Beau becomes *finally* admits that he cares about her. They develop a relationship that is sweet, innocent, and reminds me of my first boyfriend. I won't say first love, because mine wasn't sweet at all. Their relationship is what every teenage girl dreams about having. They are both attending the same university. When Charlie, a ghost haunted the university, comes to Ezzie for help, Beau is eager to help her and learn more about the heritage his family has hidden from him. In the process, they meet a mermaid and get tangled up in something they never dreamed possible.
This book is my favorite one by Jessica Gibson so far. It is very entertaining with a sweet romance that will make you say "awww". I highly recommend you check this book out to learn more about what happens to Ezzie.
I just finished this book and I have an adrenaline rush going on. Haunted U is absolutely awesome!! I love it so much! Beware, you will not be able to put it down and you may want to throw your kindle because the author leaves you with a huge cliffhanger. I want more right now!
Ezzie Lovegreen is a young witch who finds herself being haunted by a female ghost who went to school at the University. The young woman asks Ezzie for help. Being a kind hearted person, Ezzie decides to try to figure out what happened to the young woman. This opens up so many surprises.
I honestly didn't see most of it coming. What a brilliant story. Witches, ghosts and so much more. I think this book has only scratched the surface of so many amazing possibilites in this series.
One last note. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the book. I love when a book gives me that kind of reaction. I have to share a quote from the book that just cracked me up. You may not quite get it, but you will when you read it. "Are you kidding?" Beau whispered loudly to Ezzie and Winifred. "What on earth am I supposed to do with my great-great-great grandmother?" I rolled on the floor laughing because I could see in my mind what look he must have had on his face.
Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal and wants a very enjoyable read. 5 stars for sure!
A fun and exciting new paranormal series not to miss!
Jessica Gibson created a whole world of magic. Characters with magic in their family, some not even knowing it. Ezzie and Stella are an inseparable pair of BFFs. Stella might not have the gift that Ezzie does, but she still helps out.
Throw in a hunky boy-next-door boyfriend, neighboring Mermaid and a cool grandmother and this story starts out with a great foundation of colorful and intriguing characters.
Ezzie seems to have everything going for her, but the author plants some doubt and family mysteries along the way that will keep me reading the series to figure out. Coming into her powers as a witch, being pushed to join a coven, and falling in love keeps her very busy. But after she is sought out by a ghostly fellow university student, she has much to learn as she tries to help the ghost find peace. Marked by a mysterious stranger though, Ezzie may need a little help of her own.
Curl up with Haunted U: School Spirits - Book One, a warm mug and a blanket. Get comfortable because you won't want to put it down.
I received a complimentary copy for my review. All opinions are my own.

BUY IT, you won't regret it
I received a copy of this book for a honest review
This is the second book I have read by Jessica Gibson, the first being Love and Blood. I liked this one much more. I feel like she has matured as an author. Haunted U had a more cohesive plot line, and more likable characters. I liked the world of magic that she evoked. Reading about Mermaids was also interesting, since I haven't read too many books about them yet. I liked Ezzie and Beau, and their relationship. That they have decided to wait until marriage to have a sexual relationship is refreshing. I think I would like to read the next book in this series.
What to say about Haunted U..... funny, mysterious, entertaining, never a dull moment, sweet with a touch of sass; Haunted U is an amazing read.
This review I am doing differently. I will give you reasons why I loved it: - Beau and Ezzie make a cute couple - Gerald is a hoot! - I wish Stella was my bestie - There's a stalker - Someone is a target - I wish my Grandma was as cool as Ezzie's - The story never gets boring - The ending threw me for a loop - You're kinda left hanging..no strike that; you ARE left hanging
Jessica did an amazing job creating this incredible read. It is edited flawlessly and the story builds with each chapter. I can not wait for the next install in the School Spirits Series.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
To me this book is like a modern day "Little Mermaid". Ezzie's world is full of people that are not fully human.
Ezzie is a witch as are her parents. While a ghost at school asks Ezzie for help, there are other things happening as well. Things are not always as they seem.
This book is book 1 in a series. I can't wait to read the next one. This is a book that keeps you interested from the very first page. I give it a 5 out of 5.
There is so much more I can say about this book but I don't want to give anything away. I highly recommend reading it for yourself. Jessica is a very talented author. I've read a few of her books so far and loved them all.
I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book I've read by Jessica Gibson and I fully intend to read many more. Let's begin with how cute the characters names are; Ezzie, Beau, Wini. Eeeep! I love it! And the details are incredible! You can practically feel the environment of every scene in the book. Then there's the plot. I thought this book was going to be about ghosts, but there is so much more supernatural in this book. Witches, wizards, banshees, merpeople! Its got it all!! READ IT! You wont regret it.
An incredible ghost story that starts out with few intriguing ghosts and a mystery to be solved but then turns into a story with a fantasy realm. Not typical but definitely fun and interesting. Some really great characters that were quite vividly projected. There is humor, romance and a thin line between paranormal and fantasy that is pulled together very well to create a book worth adding to your Halloween reading list! I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was lucky and recieved an arc of this book. It was amazing. Ezzie has a strange life but handles it all so well. She has amazing friends to help her out. And the best family.I love the combination of different paramoral beings in this book. Once u start this book u will have to keep reading, u will want to knw what happens next. I am dying for book 2.
For my first read about witches and ghosts, I thought it was great. I felt like it was pulling me into the story itself. I think even with it being paranormal it was somewhat relatable with the characters. It had a good story line and easy to follow where some books have to much going on that they become somewhat difficult to follow.
Can't wait for the sequel! Interesting storyline, good cliffhanger ending. Love the mermaids. Good character development. Recommend to paranormal lovers teen thru adult.
