DISCLAIMER: This duology is part of my Watcher series of books. You need to have either read my Watchers Trilogy or Watcher Chronicles. Appropriate for ages 13+.
Lilly and Brand’s daughter, Caylin, saw her soul mate for the first time when she was fourteen years old. After a simple exchange of smiles, she knew her life was set on a path which would lead Aiden back into her world forever. For three long years, Aiden keeps his distance from Caylin out of respect for her parents’ wishes. Being a Watcher who once gave into the dark side of his curse, Aiden uses the time to come to terms with his own demons and strives to become a man worthy enough for the granddaughter of an archangel. Caylin learns that one of the Princes of Hell, Baal, is out to kill her. With the help of her family and Aiden, she discovers why he wants her dead and what she needs to do to stop him and the other princes from destroying not only her future but the future of the world.
Once upon a time, a little girl was born on a cold winter morning in the heart of Seoul, Korea. She was brought to America by her parents and raised in the Deep South where the words ma'am and y'all became an integrated part of her lexicon. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and continued writing on and off during her teenage years. In college she studied biology and chemistry and finally combined the two by earning a master's degree in biochemistry. After that she moved to Yankee land where she lived for four years working in a laboratory at Cornell University. Homesickness and snow aversion forced her back South where she lives in the land which spawned Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, John Grisham and B.B. King. After finding her Prince Charming, she gave birth to a wondrous gift named Caylin and they all lived happily ever after.
The second book to the Harvester of Light trilogy will be available for purchase no later than December 2012.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was a good starting point to Caylin & Aiden’s love story. Considering that Caylin has only recently turned 17 years old I thought the way their relationship is extremely slow burn makes complete sense plus given Aiden’s past with him swapping bl*od drinking for s*x, swapping one addiction for another and it makes their relationship that much more special and shows how much Caylin must mean to him if he wants to take his time actually getting to know her and her him before they even share their first kiss. I think that Brand and Lilly made the right choice for both Caylin and Aiden’s sake forbidding them from seeing each other until Caylin was 18 years old, as Caylin had a lot of growing up to do so she was her own person and knew her own mind and Aiden had a lot of work to do on himself and getting over his s*x addiction. I really liked getting snippets of previous Watchers Universe characters during this book and I’m looking forward to seeing what they all come up with on how to fight the Princes of Hell since both Baal and Levi tried to hurt Caylin and Levi even went after Aiden to try and k*ll Caylin once and for all. I also looking forward to seeing how Caylin and Aiden relationship strengthens during the next book. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
SPOILERS AHEAD I read this book right after reading The Watcher's Trilogy.
It tells the beginning love story of Lily and Brands daughter Caylin and her soul mate. Her parents wait her wait 3 years until she is 18 to begin seeing Aiden. They are intially worried about their realtionship because he is of course an older because apparently he has had LOTS of sex.
She gets almost kidnapped one time from the angel Bael but Aiden comes to the rescue
I really like Malcom as the overprotective uncle. He really is one of my favorite characters and I could read a whole series about him finding his soul mate. In this book we find out that Caylin will have a daughter who is going to be the savior and destroy all the bad once and for all. Malcom isn't going to have a human life any time soon, because God plans for him to watch over Caylin's daughter- this fact makes Lilly very sad because she just wants him to be happy...
Overall I liked the book. It was not full of suspence, and I felt like not a lot of MAJOR things happen, but it was an introduction to Aiden and Caylin's love story.
At the start of the story, Caylin is just 15 years old when she sees her soulmate for the first time. But before they can truly connect, he’s whisked away, and both are told they can’t see each other again until she turns 18. While I understand and agree with the decision made by her parents, I feel they went about it the wrong way. Had they treated Caylin like the young woman she was and communicated openly instead of treating her like a child, they could have saved everyone a lot of unnecessary heartache. Aiden, on the other hand, has lived a long life as a Watcher, filled with trauma and regrets. He’s made his fair share of mistakes and uses the time apart from Caylin to work on himself, striving to become worthy of her. His journey of redemption is compelling and heartfelt. This book is the first in a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. While I’m eager to see how Caylin and Aiden’s story unfolds, I think this was a strong and promising start to their journey in the Watcher’s series. For me, it’s a solid four stars!
This story picks up from the Watcher Chronicles so I do recommend you read it first. You won’t be sorry... Caylin is growing up and her transition to adulthood is not a simple one. The princes of Hell have their eyes on her and she needs to sort her relationship with her soul mate as well. If the support and occasional help from her family she is able to overcome the first trials but will it be enough on the long run?
This is Caylin and Aiden’s story. You knew this was coming at the end of the last series. I wasn’t for sure that I would like this because you know there is going to be a age gap since she was so young when they first meet each other. However, since Aiden doesn’t age, it didn’t come across as bad as I thought it would.
This one is about them waiting to meet up with each other. Caylin has to work to fight the evil that is out to get her.
A look into young love and what is needed from adults in terms of guidance and room to allow love blossom naturally without interference regardless of one’s perceptions. Bringing up the young with the right values and trusting them to make right choices for their own lives. I loved reading this thanks
I love love love this one! finally they get together and everything is alright well sort of if you count the men in her life protecting her. Can't wait to dig in to the next one and she how Caylin kicks ass in it!
Caylin's Story #1 This story starts in the Watcher Chronicles and covers the years until Caylin is 17 years old and a change takes place between her and Aiden. Enjoy!
Timeless by S.J. West it's book 1 of her A Watcher Duopoly. The story picks up 15 years after her most series. Brand and Lily's oldest daughter is the center of this storyline. The story is filled with edge of your seat drama.
This is the story of Kaylin. The daughter of Brand and Lilly. It covers from Kaylin's first concert date with Joshua, where she sees Aiden for the first time. To her senior year Valentine's dance. It includes Gods' vision for Kaylin and Aiden's future, as well as Malcolm's unforseen long life.
Like the first trilogy in this series, Catkin’s story is a little TOO sweet for adults, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless. Will not make sense if you haven’t read either the Watchers trilogy or the Watchers Chronicles.
I am happy that this book gives us the continuation of the story. Omg any 17yr old would die if they tried to play footsy with the wrong person and that person is like an uncle, that was hilarious. Looking forward to the next book to see how their story unfolds
I love the way it he people are actually acting like people and not “angelic”. The details are well written and are Necessary to show that the Watchers are not perfect.
Absolutely love it. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It’s really good from start to finish. I also love knowing the future Lillie, Brand and Malcolm. I need more please!!!!
This world just keeps getting better. It's still hard for me to completely get over the age. I just don't see why she couldn't have been 18 at least but oh well. This book was still very well written and I enjoyed all the characters.
This was probably just shy of a 3.5 for me. West says you need to have read either the Watchers Trilogy or the Watcher Chronicles Trilogy before reading this one. I have read both, and this one fell a little short for me. I think it was because there was about 80% love story and 20% action, and I prefer more of an equal state.
Plot: Those people who read the Watcher Chronicles will remember that in the last (?) book, Lilly and Brand’s daughter Caylin was on her first date when she saw Aiden and was immediately love struck. Lilly and Brand stipulated that even though Aiden might be Caylin’s soul mate, Aiden could not date her until she was 18. In Timeless, Caylin is 17 and desperate to go out with Aiden, who she hasn’t seen since that first time. When she is attacked by Baal, one of the Princes of Hell (that Jess and the other vessels defeated in Watcher Chronicles), Aiden comes to her rescue. Along with Caylin’s family, Malcolm, and Jess and Mason, the two try to figure out what Baal plans for Caylin in the future. At the same time, Caylin tries to determine the role Aiden will play in her life.
Characters: I’ll be honest. I just didn’t like Caylin that much. For most of the book, all she did was whine about not being able to see Aiden. Then, when they finally are together, she just whines about him not kissing her. I will say she did get a little more pleasant by the end of the book, so hopefully, she won’t be as irritating in the next one.
Aiden is a little bland, but that’s probably because he’s trying to make up for a horrendous past. We learned in the Watcher Chronicles that he had given into bloodlust, and once he got that under control, he replaced his addiction to blood with an addiction to sex. In Timeless, we learn about what he has been doing to try to get his addictions under control and become a better person for Caylin.
Malcolm also played a pretty big part in Timeless, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I couldn’t stand him in the Watchers Trilogy, but he’s much more bearable in this one. Apparently, if the book is any indication, there is an interesting storyline coming his way.
The majority of the book focuses on Caylin and Aiden, but we do get to see what’s going on with Lilly and Brand, Jess and Mason, Tara and Malik, the vessels, Faison, and all the other characters from Watcher Chronicles. We also get to know Lilly and Brand’s children, Will and Mae.
Writing: There were several spelling/punctuation/grammatical errors. Lots of homophones (an example of one is they’re instead of their), possessives without apostrophes, and plurals with apostrophes. They could be distracting at times.
The Bottom Line: The book was good, just not great. I will keep reading because the action picked up so much at the end that I am compelled to find out what happens. I remember when I was reading Watchers Trilogy, a lot of the reviewers said that they books were too lovey-dovey. I defended those books, but I don’t think I can do that with this one. Everything just happens too quickly and easily for Caylin and Aiden. If you like that kind of thing, you’ll like this one. I am more of a fan of the “can they overcome the obstacles” kind of love story.
Timeless Book 1 of Caylin's Story By S.J. West 27 July 2015
Continuing my journey into the world of Author S.J. West's Watcher Series, I'm now introduced to Caylin, Brand and Lilly from the first Watcher Trilogy oldest daughter. She's now a 17 year old teenager in love with her soul mate.
The story continues with the ease and transition of Author S.J. West style I've become amazed with and expectant of. All of the characters I come to love and adore, and even the ones I love to hate, are fully present as she brilliantly weaves the next phase of this journey.
You'll get to know Caylin and what a force to be reckoned with that not even she herself truly knows of herself yet. But I can truly say that I ravage this book in just the same way I ravaged the last 7.
I anticipate all that this series has to offer as I read this 2 book series that is setting the scene for the next set of books to continue this epic story. You still have the emotions and excitement you'll carry with you from the first two sets in this series, along with the drama and mystery that surrounds the story I have grown accustomed to.
It is a little slower pace than the last 7 books. But understandably so, because it's from the perspective of a teenage as her storyline blossoms and comes to maturity. I have truly discovered a precious gem!!!
I'm off to read the next book in this 2 book series, before I move on to the next parts of this continuing saga.....
Another definite 5 Star Read!!! ~WaAr~

In this book we meet Caylin the daughter to Lilly and Brand (who we meet in the first series; so if you haven’t read those I caution you to stop now and read those books first.) Caylin is almost your typical teenager. She is starting to rebel but is trying her best to wait patiently wait for her eighteenth birthday. On that day she is able to see and interact with her soul mate Aiden. Aiden is what they call a watcher. He has had a difficult past but is trying with all his might to turn his life around to have the approval of Caylin’s parents.
With an unusual turn of events the two are able to be with each other earlier then planned. They are thrown into a world of paranormal relationship were everything is just as complicated as a normal one. At the end something horrific happens and things are now twice as complicated as before.
I enjoyed the book… but then I realized that I’m not a teenage girl anymore and I think this book was written more toward that age group. I am the type of person who doesn’t leave a series unfinished, so eventually I’ll find out what happens to Caylin and Aiden...
