A debutante, a bevy of blind dates, an Australian bartender, and a stalker. Dating has never been so complicated.
When college senior Savannah Guthry receives an invitation to her cousin’s wedding back home in Charleston, South Carolina, her first thoughts aren’t of flowers and dresses. Instead, she's reminded of the groom: her first love.
Determined to show up and dazzle not only her ex but her spoiled cousin too, Savannah allows her friends to set her up on a series of humorous blind dates looking for Mr. Right.
Enter Gage, an Australian bartender with a front row seat to Savannah’s dating woes. As the wedding draws near and prospects run low, Savannah realizes that sometimes you find love in unexpected places. And sometimes you find more than you bargained for.
An 84k-word standalone romantic comedy with a dash of suspense, Savannah's story is perfect for fans of dating comedies, rich girl/poor boy, angsty romances, and unexpected love. Rated 17+ for mild steam and graphic content. A warning is included. *Updated and re-edited Sept. 2023.
Michele loves words. Funny words, inspiring words, dirty words, sad words. All the words. Use them wisely and kindly. Spin stories with them, mend fences with them, heal with them. Words are powerful. Words are forever.
Savannah is in her last year of college and she gets an invitation to a wedding. A wedding she has no desire to go to, but her mother and their family status has her going anyway. On one hand she needs to go to prove that she isn't stuck in the past but she hates being around the people that were closest to her and ripped her heart out.
Since she indeed will be attending the wedding her house mates slash best girlfriends set her up on a string of dates via a campus dating sight. Savannah doesn't usually do the bar thing but she goes on occasion to The Garage, where the girls' friend Riley DJs. He sees he likes Savannah but they agree they are great as friends and decide not to ruin it by making a go of something more.
She goes to The Garage on all her dates and she notices on more than one occasion the hot new bartender. All of the girls do. They get on talking terms quickly as she goes on the crazy dates. Some okay some good and some uber bad.
Things take a turn for the interesting when the hot new bartender shows a growing interest in her but she has the other dates. She thinks maybe it would work with one of the guys but when he comes back into town for their encore date he gets sloshed and the bartender we find out his name is Gage and he is Australian, saves her from the gropey and pushy guy. He gets into a physical altercation, (meaning punches him in the face... hard) with the dude when he hits Savannah in the face knocking her to the ground. Gage then grabs Savannah and takes her into the bar to check her out and get her some ice. The bouncers put jerk boy in a cab and send him on his drunken way.
A couple more dates and Gage steps up to bat. It starts great and it's hard for them to slow it down, but fearing a burn out they agree to go slow. She has put her date for the wedding on hold seeing where it goes with Gage, The jerk's name was Jax and he is in the hospital badly beaten and Savannah and Gage get taken in for questioning. That same night Gage want s to take Savannah somewhere special but his tires were slashed. Tha plus a note and mystery flowers are suggesting Savannah has a stalker.
I have an idea about who it is early on but after a while I was pretty sure I was spot on.
Savannah and Gage's relationship buds as their dates go on and on.
She finally gets up the nerve to ask him to the wedding. Things go great till past and present collide and things rapidly unravel. As soon as Savannah goes to find Gage (and no I am not giving anything away) I am relieved but soon I am mortified and biting my nails, hard.
My stomach dropped and I was dumbfounded and scared but relieved in the end.
I love, love, love Savannah Guthry in all of her naïve heartbroken, pieced back together craziness. She is a very well written character and surprisingly given her situation, not at all as wishy washy as I thought she would be. Her best friends slash house mates are great characters too. Candace and Sara are a great balance to this trio of girlfriends. Riley is a great character too and comes off as a friend with a crush that knows better.
Enter the piez de resitance, Gage Taylor and you have a tastey cocktail of great characters with substance.
He is a great looking swoon worthy, cougar attracting, all female jaw dropping gorgeous bartender who is way more than he seems. You don't expect what you get from him. You expect gorgeous player but get tender love in it's place yet he's witty and has an Australian accent that could make you spontaneously combust. I really like the fact that he is a gentleman and smart and funny.
I love the progression of their friendship after the initial teasing banter while she was on the date experiment. Jax surprised me when he turned out to be scum but I guess at that point I was rooting for the Aussie anyway. I liked so much about this book!
I can pretty much guarantee that I will read it again and probably again. That is saying something there because I have a TBR a mile long!
This one is rockin' five fabulous stars from me, I would give it a ten if I could!
I have to say Michele G. Miller has a way with words and I am completely and utterly a fan of her writing.
I will be reading anything she scratches out from now on!
This book was an awesome read. A great example of New Adult as a budding genre.
Oh yes PS! I cried like a baby through tender moments, painful memories,
sweet situations and a horrifying experience.
I cried again through healing and revelations and I will do it all over again.
The blurb sounded so promising I was excited for something different. The actual story though was horrendous. A Southern Debutante rebelling against her mother. She is so full of her self and every male she meets, and even 1 female, want her as soon as they see her! Every male! Seriously. Ugh. The first 43% of the book is her going on dates and getting hit on by people. I skimmed after that. It was just dumb and pointless. She's a 20 something acting like a teenager! This is not New Adult. It was a little girl trying to grow up and failing.
I wasn't going to write a review. This book was a huge miss for me and I don't like knocking books because there is an audience for just about everything. Then I changed my mind and am writing a review because I checked reviews before I bought this (darn those daily sales that are sent to me) and there weren't any that helped me realize this book would not be a good fit for my tastes.
To be honest, I am not a big fan of New Adult books. I was at the beginning, before it was a thing. I read some really good ones before there was much of an official label and before there were so many that read just like the types of NA that I did not like. I'm always on the hunt for that rare exception in New Adult, the one that dares to be different and that I can enjoy. The blurb made this book sound like it would be unique and somewhat different in the genre. It was not. Shame on you reviews for letting me down.
This book might be for you if you like:
heroine that every guy wants. This girl has guys making passes at her left and right. Seriously, no guy can resist this girl. Even to the point where she has a
A heroine who seems to think in pretty catty ways about girls who aren't her friends. No worries though, she doesn't slut shame. One of her besties is that typical NA bestie that hooks up casually all the time.
Heroine is shallow but we're meant to think she is deep.
People come neatly packaged in cliched boxes.
A heroine that was dumped years ago back in highschool and is still hung up on the fact that she was dumped. She's supposedly over him but still at the end has to have some closure to get past the jerk. It honestly made no sense.
*possible spoiler** You like the typical trope where Hero saves Heroine from attack.
This book was weird. It started with the heroine going on all these dates. She's been a near hermit during her college years after she was broken up with by two major hotties. (I threw in the word hottie since everyone is described that way in this book). One was her first love, and the second was a rebound guy. No worries, of course they've realized their mistake and still want her in present day. Every guy wants her so they can't be different. Anyway, first love is marrying the heroine's cousin so she needs a date to the wedding so she doesn't look pathetic. Cue the first half of book where her roommates send her on a ton of dates. Weird things ensue on these dates, none of which results in a good candidate as a wedding date. But no worries, the hottest guy on the planet (and bonus- he has an accent) is bar-tending every night where the dates occur and the guy falls head over heals. This part wasn't my thing but at least it felt like it was trying to be a little different.
The second half of the book is the relationship build up and really weird resolution where the book completely jumps the shark. There are really artificial constraints that keep the physical moments in the relationship from moving too fast. These were frankly just weird to me. One example-the guy won't kiss her at first because he wants her to want a kiss so badly that she's near begging and it will break the universe's record for hottest kiss eva! Yeah, right.
Anyhoo, the eventually make it to the wedding where weird contrived things happen. The rest will be under a spoiler tag.
Then I find this couple has another book to finish their story. It will be from the guy's POV and recap this book and the rest of their story. It was only then that I remember that all of the sexy times never actually ended in full on sex. Yup, gotta keep something for the next book I guess. Won't be me reading it. Why didn't I just put it down early on!? Oh yeah, I paid for it and I was trying to justify the dollar price.
What can I say about a book that I absolutely loved and thought was super fantastic? Well, lets start at the beginning shall we? Last Call is about Savannah getting a blast from the past in the form of a wedding invitation, the groom to be is her ex boyfriend, and well... basically the biggest douche ever but I will leave that one for you to read and find out why ;) Then we have the quirky, weird, matchmaking best friends Candace and Sara, not only are their matchmaking skills terrible, but some of the stuff that they say? You will be laughing out loud while reading it! Then their are the boys... and oh man! There are SO many boys in this book!!! While trying to find a date for the dreaded wedding Savannah goes on several dates with every kind of guy, and each date will leave you scratching your head and wondering what her friends could have possible been thinking. Throughout all of this, Savannah's answer was right in front of her the entire time, Gage is like the perfect male specimen... super hot, sexy accent, funny, sweet, romantic... oh man I could go on forever about Gage! I think the main thing that sets this book apart though is the suspense aspect. Its not in your face, but because of the synopsis you spend the whole book trying to figure it out... and the ending? TOTALLY not what I was expecting! This whole book was so well written, the characters all seem like typical college kids that you would want to be friends, there is so much humor in the book that you will not be able to stop yourself from laughing out loud (my husband thought I was crazy) and because of the suspense it is not your typical NA book which was such a nice change! If you haven't read this book yet... what are you waiting for?!
The past always finds a way to come back and haunt you. Unfortunately for Savannah, it comes in the form of a wedding invitation. So not only does she have to go to the wedding and see her spoiled cousin marry her ex, but she has to do so dateless. Sara and Candace, being the good friends they are, set Savannah up on some dates to try and find her Mr. Right. While most of them are complete losers, one good thing does come out of it all. She gets to see the cute Aussie bartender every night.
You've read a story like this before right? A girl trying to find a guy to pose as her sweet, adoring boyfriend while effortlessly trying to make an ex jealous? Yeah I have too. But that isn’t this book. No ma'am (or sir). This book has more to it. There is suspense that moves in half way into the book. Threats are made and some pretty fishy suspects catch the reader’s eye. Maybe even the delicious male lead, Gage, is suspect? Yeah I will be honest...he was with me too. But, I am not going to say if I was right or not. Oh no! That is for the reader to find out all on their own.
Hot romance, fantastic suspense that sneaks up on you, and a storyline that captivates the reader from the start...LAST CALL is an awesome NA read that is sure to be a hit! Plus, when Miller ends the book with ‘The End-For Now’…yeah, I am hoping for more. And I am sure you will want more, too!
I really enjoyed this one! It had a lot of funny stuff, but also a huge side of drama.. Who doesn't like an Aussie? I just love the accent and I don't know why but I just love the word "barbie" it's so different. So I enjoyed it very much!
But for me personally I felt like the book was a bit to long, it could've been a bit shorter and the ending could have an epilogue. And I figured the twists out myself and I'm a bit on the slow side, but I didn't mind that gave me the chance to accept it.
But I had a blast reading it! It would've been a 5 star read if it wasn't dragged out so much. But it was a freebie and a damn good one!
Ok. Let's do this. I have taken the day to really think about this book. I though I was conflicted but now I am very happy with book. So here it goes.
Last call isn't your typical new adult book. It's not your jump in head first, insta love with tons of sex. Which now a days what you find in most books. So I was thrown off and that's why I was conflicted. But now I see why she wrote it this way.
Savannah was raised with country clubs, debutants and a prim and proper mother. She was raised to find a rich husband and that's about it. She had get heart broken numerous times and stops dating. Her friends want to get her out of her funk. She has a wedding to attend and needs a date. So her friends come up with a plan and she has to go along. So she heads down this long torturest road of some funny ass things.
I love the friends and their relationships. They always had eachothers backs
I enjoyed the story line, the back up characters, the chemistry and the writing flow. I loved the music tie in and the song titles. Oh that was just right. I had my phone next to me and kept pulling the songs up so I could hear them while I was reading. I love that.
But the thing that kept me going, the main reason I never gave up, one word GAGE. Gage Taylor is super swoons worthy. I mean he was melt in your mouth, change your panties this man knows what to say. I call dibs ladies. Yup I call dibs.
he makes me giddy and I could help but smile and want to act like a school girl.
so there's not much sex, but there is hot steamy kissing and a really hot scene
Then she blindsides you and leaves you saying WTF. I mean you have an idea, but not like this. This is just. like. wow
So now you want to know why it's not a 5 star for me. I love an epilogue. I'm an epilogue kind of girl. So there is lt one and I was very upset. But I know why she did it this way and I am very happy. I am a very happy happy girl.
I actually enjoyed the book and characters. However, besides me being thrown off because I thought this was a bring-a-fake-guy-home-then-fall-in-love story, it was quite predictable. There isn't any angst about who the stalker is and Gage being secretly rich was obvious to me.
I wasn't happy with the resolution to the whole Charleston incident and felt the entire ending was a bit rushed. Then it just ends and I'm told, "the end...for now." Oh for fuck's sake, just add another 50 pages to the end of this book. I don't need a whole new book on pre-Savannah Gage and his POV just to get the ending of this one. I would have happily read his beginning and POV on their own and then you could've thrown in a 5-10 year later epilogue in his book.
With all that being said, I still couldn't put the shit down. Probably because I loved Gage. This isn't a book about him messing around with girls and then changing for Savannah. She's the one dating and he only has eyes for her once he meets her. He's devoted to his feelings for her from the beginning and is nothing but a sweetheart. In this book, it's him trying to get her to catch up to his feelings and I loved that; you don't get it often in romance. So yea, I loved the big ole mushy sweetheart that is Gage, which is probably why I'm giving this 4 stars.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this! I loved Michele's first novel, and was dying to read this one. Michele has a writing style that draws you in.
Savannah has been invited to the wedding of the century. Starring non other than her prissy cousin and her ex boyfriend (and first love). Bound and determined not to let Savannah go to this wedding alone, her friends scheme up ideas to send her on dates to find a potential wedding date.
I loved Savannah. From the first page, I loved her. She's snarky, witty, smart and independent. The relationship between Candace, Sara and Savannah is extremely well written. You can see them being your girlfriends. You go through the same emotions they go through. A HUGE pat on the back for Michele. Females are hard characters to write.
The dates Savannah goes on and the people she met had me cracking up laughing. And I want a bartender like Gage at one our bars!!
I won't go into too much detail because this novel hasn't been released yet, but its definitely one I recommend getting your hands on.
Last Call was sexy without being trashy and all about sex. I liked that.
I would firstly like to thank Sarah Ashley Jones for holding the giveaway for this book and sending it over to me. I have had this book on my to read list for a while now and I was stoked to receive it after winning the giveaway.
Now onto the book... I enjoyed this one. It is was a nice change from some of the heavier books that I have read lately. The characters were easy to like and I liked the relationships between them all. At times I felt like some of the book was rushed a little. I wanted more background on the events that lead up to the present day of the story. What we did get though did paint a small picture of it all though. Another thing was that I guessed a lot of the things that happened in the book. I knew the "secret" that Gage had right away. I also was not surprised by the final big event. With that said though I felt like it was handled pretty well. I felt like it was all wrapped up pretty nicely for the next book in the series. I will definitely read the next book to see Gage's side of the story.
I also really like the author's writing style. I will have to check out some of her other work.
Last call is one of those books that will suck you in, but not for one particular reason. As Savannah goes through the string of dates her quirky friends send her on, you're experiencing them with her, and let me tell you, it's hilarious. I found myself thinking "what would I do if I was on a date with him?" and I think she handles it way better than I ever could! But then, there's the romance. It's full of sexual tension and the sweet feeling of lust on the journey to love. That was one of my favorite parts because I am such a sucker for romance and Miller does a great job of easing these two characters together. As for the suspense, I would say I am highly impressed, only because I really am not a fan of suspense novels. HOWEVER, I never got bored with this part of the story line and actually found myself gripping the edge of my seat to find out more. Any author who can make me fall in love with genre I didn't like before hand, gets a big thumps up in my book.
I expected it to be a light hearted story about a girl who doesn't want to go to a wedding alone for all the usual reasons, but really, even thought the upcoming wedding sets things in motion, the event itself only played a small part in the long scheme of things. There was so much more involved. There was family issues, unfinished business, secrets, danger, not to mention a smoldering new romance on the horizon. It wasn't all serious though. There were many moments that gave me a giggle, especially in regards to Savannah's many ill fated dates. Last Call by Michele G. Miller was provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

It's full of sexual tension and the sweet feeling of lust on the journey to love. Not to mention the suspence that is following Savannah around, and you have zero idea of who the culprit is. (no hints) As for the suspense actually found myself gripping the edge of my seat to find out more., I would say I am highly impressed, Well written!!! I fell in love with all the main characters!!! and who doesn't love an Aussie accent for a male lead, all I can say is HAWT! Michele, I have to say that I can't wait for the next book! This was fantastic, and I can't wait for more!!!
Really, really loved this book. Being a southern belle myself, I love when I can step into a book and read about southern hospitality that's not what non-southerners THINK it's like. Sure, main character Savannah may have grown up privileged, but it doesn't define her. She faces the same insecurities and deficiencies as the rest of us poor saps, and there's something refreshing about a character who is flawed and relate able. Her sexy Aussie love interest is absolutely delicious.....'nuff said. This is a perfect beach book - escapism at its finest. Mature content, so I wouldn't recommend for readers under age 17.
Loved it!! Fell in love with the Hot Aussie Bartender for sure- Gage Taylor leaves quite an image in my head. Savannah has dealt with a whole lot of bad with previous guys, after three years her friends get her dating. She goes on a string of first dates while Gage watches till he calls dibs on her. Very sweet romance, some deep secrets and little bit of mystery and I honestly could not put this down to the end. LOVE!! Can't wait to read more from Melissa about Gage and his return to Australia...WHEN???
I enjoyed this book. The blurb is a bit misleading, well not necessarily, it just leaves out a big part of the book. I wanted more of the wedding, her family, friends, and you don't get that until 80% of the book. The majority of the story happened over like a 3 week period and then a month went by in a few pages and we were at the wedding ...
Overall it was a good book, I really enjoyed Gage and Savannah and I loved his ego!
I think the best thing about this book is that you think it's just another chick-lit love story, but it's NOT lol. Not that there's anything wrong with a good chick-lit love story, but I like that it's more complex than that ;). And once again Michele has created a swoon worthy guy for us to drool over and a strong heroine for us to relate with and commiserate with. 5 stars! :)
Amazing! What a good story. Loved her dates and the banter between her and Gage from the start. Wasnt sure how this was going to turn out. Thought Gage was a super guy--like she says, her superman. Little bit of suspense to keep you on your toes. Looking forward to the next book for sure to see what happens with their story. He's a keeper though!
Seriously Loved this book! It was such a fun and insanely sweet book. It was pretty light hearted for most of the book. Not sure how I feel about the "plot twist" at the end. But I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I mean there is a hot Australian bartender with a hot accent. What more could you want?
Savannah Guthry was raised in South Carolina, with country clubs, debutants and a prim and proper ladies as her mother embedded in her head. But taking the first chance she got, Savannah moved to Tennessee for school to escape a broken heart and failed relationships, not to mention betrayal by a family member. After a day of class she comes home to find a letter awaiting her that reads “You are cordially invited…” in a microsecond all that she has been running from comes back in a flash. With no desire to go home, but also unable to escape the town gossip if she doesn't, Savannah begins to think of a way to make the trip more bearable.
Putting a plan in motion, Savannah's friends, Candace, and Sara decide its best to take a smoking hot date that will keep her company and get people off her back at home, but one issue with that is, Savannah hasn't dated anyone since she's been at her college. With only weeks till the wedding, how can she possibly find a date with the correct traits and looks her mother and home-town expects and convince him to come to a wedding with her.
With her friends setting her up on blind dates at the local bar they frequent, Savannah finds herself on unfamiliar grounds in the dating scene and in the company of one sexy new bartender Gage.
This book was a fun read for me. I loved the friendships that Candace, Sara and Savannah had and reminds me of some of my own friends. The dating game that they put her through was not only entertaining but very real when it comes to the dating scene and I was very happy with how well author Michele captured it. I was laughing hard at some of the dates she went on and the things that happened on them. Being a southern raised girl, Savannah, was so out of her element on theses dates, but her innocence in them was felt. Her upbringing of country clubs, debutantes and high society is something she hasn't forgotten but is not as closely connected to as when she first came to college (she has spread her wings a little), but with the upcoming wedding, how can she face her past and show everyone including her mother that she has moved on and is not affected by it? Let along find a guy who fits the bill enough to take along?
As Savannah goes on her blind dates, they meet at the local bar so that she can be in a public atmosphere and feel a little more comfortable, but what she didn't expect was the attention of a hot new bartender that just seems to push her in all the wrong and right ways. Even their interaction was funny and real. She finds herself beginning to like this guy, but caught up in her current dating frenzy and an approaching deadline, can she spare time to entertain her thoughts of him. Michele does a great job at building the romance, while keeping some of Savannah's upbringing at the forefront, but what I didn't anticipate was the twist she trough in the book that caught my attention all over again. I was a little disappointed when I was able to figure out Gage's secrets way before they were revealed which was a let down, but I'm hoping there is more to explore of his story than what was revealed on the surface. I did feel like there were a few loose ends to certain scenes in the book that left me wondering what happened. Michele did a really good job at making sure we felt the romance, not just sex like some books, which in turn gave us the right amount of anticipation to build this relationship upon.
I hate giving spoilers, so let me best describe things as this. Romance builds, suspense is heightened, past secrets not only come to the surface but also must be faced, lives are threatened and truths come out. Overall it was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading the rest of the story, because I'm so certain that it doesn't end there (hint, hint). The again there wasn't an epilogue in the book, so my instincts tell me that I will be reading a sequel. Add this to your TBR list as I recommend you should read it.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
3.5-4 In my mist of a major book funk I can happily say I REALLY enjoyed this. Not the entire thing but there were MANY parts that had my FULL ATTENTION!!! Hope to heavens above I’m breaking out!!!
This storyline is no way new to the book scene, the cover pulled me in and the synopsis tugged at me. The girl-friends making the non-dater go on blind dates were ok, they were a good addition but my favorite parts were at The Garage and anytime Gage was around. I don’t normally love a dating book but this wasn’t all bad. I’m actually excited of my feelings!! The dates didn’t last long (the date themselves & within the book). Gage got his time in!! I loved the complete Gage and Savy storyline. The trip home, the catch…his catch, the conversations. The smoothness of their growth. I liked who she was around him and I LOVED him!! I was worried the whole past love, debutant addition would ruin the entire thing and while I admit to skimming these segments I still enjoyed this one!!!
I did.not. care for the secret admirer subplot and all of the suspiciousness associated with it. It wasn’t needed and cheapened the ending for me. The ending…well it was abrupt. Not a cliffhanger kind, an ongoing kind. But, I said “really” at the end. In all seriousness “REALLY” This continues? This isn’t the type of story that needs to be ongoing. And as it stands, this book was published in 2013 and there has been no sequel put out. Yes, I saw the author answered question that the sequel had been put on the back burner due to other works. After this time span, it’s not needed. An epilogue, a conclusion, a wrap up that IS truly what’s needed. I liked this enough that if the author took out what I didn’t care for, strengthened Gages storyline and give me a dang epilogue I’d read it again and no lie, probably spike up my rating. Yeah, I know. I’m just a single reader out in the world of many. It made you smile though, didn’t it? :)
Savannah Guthry hails from the famous Guthry family. She usually hides her true identity from people because of the expectations that it raises. When she receives a Wedding Invitation to the wedding of her cousin and her ex-boyfriend, she is in a fix. Her friends set her up on numerous blind dates with the hopes of finding someone who she can take to the wedding to impress her family and show her cousin & ex-boyfriend that she had long since moved on from their betrayal. The memories of her past and the drama of her current situation is just not enough to keep her from noticing the new Hot Aussie bartender at her favourite joint. Gage turns out to be a funny, observant, sensitive knight in shining armour as he helps her get out of various situations. But will Savannah be too late or will she finally find her Mr.Right?
Savannah seems to have the most rotten luck when it comes to men. The two in her past were simply jerks, and the blind dates set up by her best friends seem to be creeps. But that is made up by her good luck when it comes to friends. She is portrayed as this smart and tough girl who has her own mind. But some of her decisions and dialogues really drove me mad. Gage is a super awesome hottie who is JUST PERFECT from every aspect that one can think of. The plot is very much predictable even with the author inserting an unknown stalker who trashes cars and makes threats – but if you pay attention, you will easily figure out who this stalker is. I liked the author’s style of writing and narration which was consistent with her previous book ‘Never Let you Fall’.
But yes, this story reminded me too much of Debra Messing & Dermot Mulroney starrer The Wedding Date. Just replace the escort from the movie with bartender in the book and Best Man from the movie with Groom in the book!
Overall, even with the gaping similarities, this was fun to read!
What the hell?!?! I'm so discombobulated about this book. What I thought was going to be a fun college/ adult read turned into something way different. First off I liked this book......I think....no wait I do. That's kinda how this book ended for me. Where to start.... Characters were great, it was the story line that really through me for a loop, dragged me through the mud, hit me with a bus, ect. ect. The synopsis was about a college age, came from old money, southern belle who gets invited to her cousins wedding and that said cousin is marrying her ex. Ok, ok, but seriously that wasn't really what this book was about. Well it was but it wasn't. ( Sorry if that doesn't make sense) It had so much more plot and ooey gooey filling I'M still trying to process. There was point at the last 90%ish I thought I was going to pass out with how descriptive the words were. Then it ended but it wasn't like "oh how wonderful, they are going to live all peachy keen jelly bean" it fell flat (for me) but with a cliffhanger (kinda) so I will be picking the second book up just to try and process what happened in the first book. The only con was with the ending because I want the next book NOW. If your looking for a lightish read you will get that for about 80% of this book and then you head into WTF territory and eventually end up enjoying it and looking forward to book 2.
The characters were engaging and the dialogue was fun. I loved that the story had romance and sizzle and it wasn't just a frame for explicit scenes. Really enjoyed reading it!
