4 stars ✨ Clean Fiction - Fantasy
Everyone else was playing checkers and Marieke was playing chess in this book. The trial scene was my favorite part and I greatly enjoyed seeing her learn more about her abilities!
There was one part at the end, I was like “…🤨 um, you guys didn’t really think (spoiler) was (spoiler), did you? Oh, oh, you did. Huh.” Which didn’t make sense to me and added to the drama of the final showdown. Which I liked the final showdown, so I can’t complain too much on that part.
I would say this was probably my favorite of the trilogy (though, of course, you have to read them in order because it wouldn’t make sense otherwise) because it wasn’t just Marieke and Zev, plus there was a lot of scenes I really liked. I never really got into their romance/relationship, but I thought they balanced each other out well.
Unlike I hoped, we don’t see any of the main characters in “The Singer Tales” series (another series by this author and is set in the same world as this trilogy), which was a bummer but understandable. It leaves off with the possibility of that happening in the future, but I feel jipped at missing it! It does connect to “Island of Secrets and Sacrifice” at the very end with a bonus chapter, which wouldn’t be fully understood or connected unless you’ve read that book before this series.
Overall, I did really enjoy binge-reading this trilogy over the last few days! It’s been a while since I’ve done a series back-to-back like this and while I might not be able to fully separate the events that happened in each book in a month, I did enjoy this trilogy.

No major language is used, instead minor words like “blast” is exclaimed once; Eye rolling & Sarcasm; Marieke and other Singer face some prejudice from Zev’s family for her nationally and being a Singer (much lighter in this book compared to the prior two books); Marieke eavesdrops and feels a bit of guilt;

Beautiful Conclusion
This was a riveting, romantic, and thrilling finale to the Heartsong trilogy. My favorite series by this author is still The Vazula Chronicles because of the mermaid subplot, but this trilogy was very similar. Both were about headstrong young ladies who were scholars uncovering corruption in their governments and being protected by strong men from people who wanted to kill them before they learned too much. The climax of this book was particularly exciting and moving.

Zev and Marieke are separated again (at this point, I should have expected that it would happen in every book), but this time, outside forces have conspired against them. Zev sweeps in like an avenging angel to rescue Marieke, and it is a beautiful moment, but he doesn't kiss her, and she has something to say about that!
I loved how Deborah kept the romance alive in this book despite Zev and Marieke practically declaring their love at the end of book two. A couple more people join them on their journey this time, which adds tension and decreases alone time.
And speaking of added tension, I absolutely loved the grumpy-sunshine banter between Azai and Veronica! Their dynamic was so much fun to read, and while I was pretty sure I could see where it was going, that didn't make the journey any less enjoyable!
Marieke's humility is really seen in this book. She truly just wants what's best for her country and isn't afraid to put herself in danger for it. She was clever and strategic, but it was never about making herself look good.
This was a fantastic conclusion to this trilogy. The stakes were higher, the tension was higher, and the payoff was hard-won.

Such a perfect finale to this wonderful trilogy! I absolutely loved how devoted Zev was to Marieke and how well their relationship progressed. I do, however, feel as though the plot was more simple than the rest of the books as there was no sudden twists in this final novel. I loved Veronica as she was just so cheerful and willing to change and I loved how she continuously teased Azai. I honestly think that Azai was a fool, but I'm glad that he learned in the end and that his relationship with Zev was mended. However, a major issue that I had with the book was all the tension in the group. It didn't really make for a nice, comfortable read like the previous books or other books written by Deborah Grace White. Apart from that, I enjoyed the book and loved seeing how Singing magic and Heartsong mixed so well together, especially with love. I also loved Ember and Haiden showing up at the end of the novel, it was great to see them again and I wish that Deborah Grace White would write another series as everyone is now connected. I didn't really know what to make of Tarenne as she was so emotionless and at times I really despised her. I think that she brought the enjoyment level of the novel down as she wasn't an antagonist, she wasn't a protagonist, and she wasn't a very good side character. However, this book was very nice and the writing style was incredibly good.

This whole series was good. This is a quick overview of the series. It's a fairly easy read with quite a bit of adventure and suspense to it. Slowly truths come out and the pieces come together.
There are two countries with a long cavern in between. Both kingdoms are ruled by a Counsel of Singers (those who can do magic with a song). But something is happening in her kingdom that no one can understand, their land is dying. Yet the land in the other kingdom is flourishing.
Marieke (Mari) is one who asks a lot of questions and she cannot just let this one go - she feels compelled to find out why her homeland is dying. Along the way she is saved by Zevediah (Zev) who is from the opposing kingdom and he wants nothing to do with her quest, but as he comes to care for her he finds himself embroiled in her search for answers and they learn that together they are stronger and can accomplish more. Together they find the one who has caused the changes and now they must defeat her or both kingdoms will fall.
This is a clean read.

great conclusion!
I really appreciate how Ms White deals with complex issues without making the whole book a heavy, depressing slog. I also love that she's able to give real nuance and perspective in her storytelling - no cheap cop-outs, no overpowered saviours or one-dimensional villains, no oversimplified happily ever afters but also no unnecessary dragged out conflict/misunderstandings. Several of her books have similar political themes, but I never feel like it's a repeat story or reused plot. It's all really different and vibrant in its own way.
I do think this villian was a bit more powerful and less nuanced than I'm used to in her other books, but it was still very faithful to the plot and character background. I really liked Veronica! And I did not like Clara but I really liked her role & choice in the ending.

Honestly, so many things nicely tied together, secrets exposed, evil destroyed, and sweet romance HEA declared.
I also thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful portrayal of the power of love and kindness that can be such a blessing, where contentment and joy lead to happiness. And how bitterness can cause revenge that will corrode not only you but also everything around you.
Such a wonderful story with a lot of action. It seems like every new page unravels some new mystery and creates a deep emotional response. And it’s just fantasy!

Excellent conclusion to Heartsong
Everything stands at a precipice. All the secrets and hiding are about to come to light. Truths are revealed. I wouldn’t say the message is at all subtle since Marieke is pretty blunt, but it’s an important one. The best message from the book is that ”humble prosperity” is better than “ruins of grandeur” because it’s all a matter of choices. We get to see more of Valerie in this book, too! Strong finish to a captivating series.

Sweet closure
Such a lovely ending. All wrapped up in a bow and even a bonus bowl. Could barely breathe for the climatic scene, though! I hope that we'll eventually be able to check in and see how the ruling is going and oleand's recovery. This world doesn't feel quite finished yet. So I hope we'll revisit it in the future.

An excellent ending
An excellent ending but goodness I could read more. Please tell me there is a spin off. I simply must know what is the deal with the cat. Also there are a few characters I wish to see have happily ever afters. In all a great book and worth the wait.

I really loved reading this book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this really wonderful book down! I really loved reading all of the books in this really wonderful series!

Fabulous conclusion
It’s always interesting to see how a story resolves. Will someone get vengeance? Will certain people turn? Will the bad guys get it in the end? This story tied up all those loose ends so well and yet left some openings for a new set of stories.

Fitting end to the trilogy
I loved how Marieke and Zev fought for what was right, even at risk of their lives. Both loved their countries but realized that if one country fell, so would the other.

Cozy Conclusion
A beautiful conclusion to a cozy series! Deborah Grace White creates such wholesome, healthy romance that I can’t get enough! She and her sister, Melanie Cellier, are easily in my top 5 favorite authors.

I am not mad that I binged the last two books of this trilogy. I loved getting to know Azai in this book--he was a great addition to the adventure. I love how everything wrapped up. And there was a moment that gave me so many goosebumps; it was well done and so sweet.

Good ending to the series! I have loved it and this one especially was hard to put down.
I liked the character development, how things were wrapped up, and themes explored in the series like prejudice and how to rights the wrongs of the past appropriately.

Pretty good ending. This one wasn't my favorite out of the series, but it was still very good. And the surprise at the end! I really wish there was more about that.
