Read this after Cute but Psycho, even though its technically a prequel novella. But I'm kind of glad I read it in that order because it made a number of Bree and Orson's scenes (both together and separately) so much funnier knowing what is to come.
I have a feeling I'm going to be devouring Beatrix Hollow's entire backlist at this point.
I love this world and these characters SO MUCH! Baz had me cackling in this prequel to Cute but Psycho. I adored this backstory before Bree was sent to Verfallen Asylum and I am beyond excited for Cute but Deadly that’s releasing in August 😍 🐍
A fun little prequel. Nothing new learned, but still nice to see a few of my favorite characters from Verfallen again.
I will say that if you were to read this before Cute But Psycho, it might not be enough to get you excited for that book. It's a nice little story for those who have already read it, but doesn't do the main story justice -- which, by the way, is an amazing book.
Overall this is okay. Not required reading for the series at all. Nothing we don't learn about later on in the main book, but fun nonetheless. I might need to re-read Cute But Psycho soon. Love (and miss) Bree, her guys, and their craziness.

Not Cute At All serves as a prequel to Cute But Psycho, offering a glimpse into Bree's initial meeting with Doctor Orson and the origins of her intense obsession with him. This novella, presented through dual POVs from both Bree and Orson, caters to fans of Cute But Psycho, giving them a nostalgic revisit to familiar characters from Verfallen without any groundbreaking revelations.
The story lets readers explore Bree’s initial pull toward Orson, adding layers to her fascination and offering a window into Orson's perspective as well. However, if you're new to the series, this prequel might feel underwhelming. It’s better appreciated after reading Cute But Psycho, where Bree and her dynamic relationships truly shine.
In essence, Not Cute At All is a light, supplementary read, a bit of fun for fans craving extra scenes with Bree and her guys. While not essential to the storyline, it’s an enjoyable bonus for those who miss the chaotic energy of Cute But Psycho. For newcomers, though, the main book might be a better starting point.
Not Cute At All, by Beatrix Hollow, is my introduction to both the author and the series. I’ve owned Cute but Psycho for a while now, and when I saw there was a prequel, I jumped on it.
Here, we meet Bree and Dr. Orson and learn how they first met—court-appointed therapy! I love getting background before starting a book; it helps set the mood for me. Bree gives me lunatic vibe, and I love it! Dr. Orson gives off some naughty vibes! I can’t wait to dig into Cute but Psycho to see if I’m right!
Thank you to Beatrix Hollow for gifting me an eARC of Not Cute At All. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this novella especially the fact that while they are seeing each other in a therapist/patient environment....both of them have their own motives behind continuing the therapy sessions. The fmc is unhinged and I imagine in the next book you see the mmc show his unhinged side mix in with the control he maintains.
This was a quick, cute read. I love these characters so much. I love the sneak peak of Baz we got in this too! I cannot wait for the 2nd book - I’ve actually preordered the next 2 books.
I started the prequel even though it just came out so I can get some background before going into book one. Loving the coo coo for cocoa puffs creep vibes. Interested to see where this goes.
It’s a really quick read and gives us the pre-story that leads us into the next book. We are also introduced to Basil and Verfallen Asylum, which will continue in Cute but Psycho then into the third book Cute but deadly 🖤
What just happened? From the very short story I just gather that nobody in this story seems to be normal. Dark read with people who are either mental or totally psycho. Not sure about the like/dislike fact but it grabbed my attention.
This is introducing bree to doctor orson and i loved it. she is completely obsessed since day one and i cant handle it lol i like how he was introduced to her too ... i wont tell how but its interesting
This was the introduction of her and the “court” appointed therapist. To how her and the Dr first meet. But it isn’t going to tide me over until book 2 comes 😩 it just made me want MORE!!
I read Cute but Psycho two years ago and fell in love with Bree all over again being back in this world. This takes place three years prior to Cute but Psycho. This can be enjoyed before or after reading Book 1 of this series. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I actually really liked this as an addition to Cute But Psycho. I read it a while ago and was curious to how her obsession with Orson started. It was short but definitely sweet.
He's a court-appointed psychiatrist and a vampire with plans for her future. She's … something else? Who's hunting who? “Not Cute at All” is described as a prequel to “Cute But Psycho” but doesn't really work as such. I was baffled by it and have no intention of reading on. 2 Stars.
A great, quick read! This prequel was wonderful and gave us a glimpse into how Orson and Bree met and a bit about what came after - prior to Cute But Psycho.
