Jordan has visions of monsters, demons, and death. Seventeen, orphaned, and born into the family business, she doesn’t have friends, she doesn’t have choices. Her uncle, older brothers, and a few annoying angels dominate her life, demanding she tow their lines – and the punishment is severe when those lines are crossed.

When Jordan is ordered to help hunt down a monster, she’s not sure which she dreads the elusive, blood-thirsty creature or spending time in a cramped backwoods cabin with a brother who despises her. To make matters worse, a demon shows up and warns Jordan that she could be her family’s next assignment.

In a game between Good and Evil where God seems to have tapped out early, lines are blurred and not everything is as it seems. Jordan learns a little too late that the real monster is closer than she thinks.

"Rules of the circle were fed to Jordan with her baby food."

Blind Sight brings you right into the dark, destructive setting where blood is splattered everywhere. The visual, not a pretty one is clear as the author takes you into this horrible nightmare.

There is humanity to this story as Jordan herself has true life emotions that makes you feel for her. I loved her sarcastic nature and witty comebacks. Even though there are demons, monster-like creatures, Slayers and even angels there were many comedic moments that made me laugh out loud.

The writing is edgy, fresh and easy to follow with so many clever lines such as, "Memories of her father swept over her like desert sand, leaving her soul parched, longing for something it couldn't have."

The story is easy get absorbed into and the mysterious adventure is fun and at times gruesome as the lines between good and evil are not quite clear. Nothing is certain except for the optimism that hangs in the air.

Okay, some confessions here before I begin. I have read Ms. Storey's other series. It is YA and very touching if you know anything about her as a person. (Which I can say with pride that I have been allowed such access--my being able to contribute to The Gage Project is still a source of pride for me.) That said, when I dove into this, I sort of expected something along that line. I could not have been more wrong or PLEASANTLY surprised. Storey has created something here that I am still trying to decide which way I think it will go. And I am looking forward to the ride. Just a note to the author...you can really paint a gruesome picture and should try your hand at some serious HORROR. In a world where angels visit humans and monsters are real...I am eager to get to the meat of the story.

I always enjoy how a writer sets the rules for any paranormal sorts of beasties or characters in their tale. Ms. Storey is doing an excellent job of laying the foundation for her mythos. I am starting to feel like the characters have fleshed out, and now I get to see them put into action. (side note: Kudos for the "Horny Devil" line. It made me laugh out loud and I had to read the passage to Denise so she could know what it was that had made me chuckle.)

One thing I am enjoying is the real person drama underneath all the angels and demons popping in. This makes the story much more vivid as it is not just about the "creatures" and more about the people. Also, Storey does a bang-up job of giving her other-worldy sorts some very rich character dev. (Think Kim Harrison and how her demons have been given such full character traits instead of being treated like a side dish.)

Storey has a really good tale here. I was amazed and pleasantly surprised at the vivid world that she created. Her characters are real and flawed. There are no leaps or moments that leave you scratching your head. That is one of the hard part when creating an alternate reality--making it seem real while still fantastic.

The critique that I do have is that a few scenes seem to drag on and the main character gets a little grating at times. Still, this is a nit that I am picking. Also, I really felt like the aforementioned Kim Harrison peeked through at times...just that it seemed familiar in style and substance. This is a very strong opening to a series and VERY out of the box from the YA title that the author is better known for.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lop or Lovers of Paranormal)

Nicole you cruel woman! How could you leave a teaser like that and have us wait for the next book? When will we know what happens next?
This had me laughing all the way through. Jordan is the type of girl you could definitely be friends with. I can imagine it would go down well with audiences if this ever made it to the big screens. Additionally the uses of some of the similes are very funny at times and cleverly incorporated.
This has a great opening. It takes you straight to the action and doesn’t waste any time with introducing the characters and describing their appearance in such detail.
The title for me threw up many questions. The two words are contradictory and there is a sense of foreboding from this that things will either be withheld from us or there will be content that cannot be explained. I love a good title that you need to think about before you start reading. Sometimes I would even be put off a book if the title wasn't gripping enough.
There is a perfect balance of describing the action but at the same time allowing the reader to sit back and enjoy the surroundings that Storey as placed in front of us. You feel at one with nature and it is described in not too much detail but enough to give the reader a nice break from the reality of Jordan’s situation. There is some definite writing experience with setting the scene and the narrative.
I particularly liked the strange turn of events which was revealed towards the frustrating climax. This was unpredictable and it was good to have some questions answered that were raised at the beginning.
In terms of characterisation I have more respect for Wendy over Jordan. Wendy has developed her personality throughout the course of this novel and I feel she has more determination to save her loved ones. Her moral decisions are laid out before her and they actually make sense.
There was one real flaw to the story however. Call me sentimental but there was no romance.

Jordan has always known she had a destiny. She always expected to die young. When you're a seeker (or a slayer) in the Celadon Circle, you put the world's needs ahead of your own and never dare to question the Angels' orders. But, Jordan does question her fate. She can't blindly follow orders. And, she can't understand why her brother continues to blame her for a tragic death so many years ago. When Jordan, her uncle, and her two brothers are sent on a mission to Tennessee, Jordan struggles with her destiny more than ever. Strange visions cause her to doubt everything she ever knew--even her own identity.

Books with kick-butt heroines are a dime a dozen these days, but this book rises far above the rest. And, it's all due to the flawless writing and the brilliant characterization. Let me start with the characterization in this book... It's top notch. Jordan is as well-crafted and well-rounded as can be. She can break a guy's nose one moment, and succumb to tears over her fractured relationship with her brother the next. In so many of the kick-butt-female books out there, the main character tends to be so tough, they're unlikable and one-dimensional. But, I liked Jordan immensely. She has a tender side and though she's capable of compartmentalizing her fear when necessary, she's also able to embrace all her emotions. Her ability to show kindness and compassion toward one of the townspeople in Tennessee is her saving grace. When a new friend is willing to risk her own life to help Jordan, it adds a whole new dimension to this already amazing book.

The supporting characters in this book are just as well-rounded as Jordan herself. The author never uses stereotypes and is constantly reminding us that everyone has hidden depths and strengths that will surprise you.

This book is one of the better-written in it's genre. The rich description, flawless writing, and knock-your-socks-off ending combine to create a must-read book I couldn't put down. And, the best part of all? It's part of a series. I can't wait to get my hands on book two!

Blind Sight ( The Celadon Circle #1 ) by Nicole Storey
I received this book in exchange for an honest review by the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com
I have to begin by saying that I absolutely loved this story. It has all the elements I look for in a book. This book takes an unconventional approach to the “Good vs. Evil” struggle. The main character Jordan is funny and sarcastic... add into the mix a few unconventional Angels and Demons, a well thought out cast of supporting characters and lots of action and adventure and you land up with a fantastic read. This book is rich and descriptive, with a well crafted story that has plenty of suspense, adventure and a generous helping of action all of which unfold in a smooth and effortless manner. The writing is descriptive and flows well making this an easy read. All the elements of this story are well thought out and structured ensuring a faced paced book that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. I am looking forward to the next book in his series to come out, so I can find out what happens next. Nicole Storey, you are a cruel woman, leaving us all in suspense like that. A very entertaining read from a very talented author. I will definitely be looking out for more of her work.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the Author and the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com

From the first page I could not put this book down. It's a story about good and evil but it's difficult to tell who is good and who is evil. The angels were not "typical" and, in my mind, they crossed the line from good right into evil. I warmed up to Aamon (who is a demon by the way!). I have a feeling he isn't all bad. Angel Michael, on the other hand, I did not like at all. Guardian Angel Gabe isn't much of a "guardian" and wasn't very helpful.

Jordan's has so much on her plate. It's her job to save the world but in the end she is the one who needs saving.

I would highly recommend this book to both YA readers and adults.

I hope I get a chance to read the next installment of The Celadon Circle because I know the story can only get better. Nicole Storey is a wonderful talent with an ability to draw the reader in and make them feel like the are part of the story.

Thank you for allowing me to read and review this book. I loved it!

Part slayer, part psychic, part tomboy, Jordan is a complex and compelling character. Her back story so mysterious that it is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery. The story takes place at a crossroad in her life and the choices are not obvious. I read on entranced by multiple layers of intrigue and in the end marveled at revelation after revelation. The book promises to be the first installment in a series and I so look forward to reading the next book to see what becomes of this cast of characters. If you enjoy paranormal mysteries, this promises to be a great series filled with complex demons, less than perfect angels, and flawed humans. Mixed in it all is some great humor and wit. There is action for the action lovers, horror for the horror lovers, and enough unconditional love for the romantics who like all of the above. These are the kinds of books I drink and wait greedily for the sequels. Totally entertaining and delightfully mysterious.

Are angels and demons real? Nicole Storey makes me believe they are but they are not exactly as I have always pictured them.
Jordan, her brothers and uncle live a very interesting life. They hunt down and destroy demons. The angels play a role but in a very stand-offish manner. When humans, demons and angels all mix together, it makes a very exciting story.
The author’s descriptive style of writing makes the reader experience the pain, anger, fear, frustration and other emotions felt by the characters. You can also ‘see’ the setting for each scene through Nicole Storey’s words - some of the places I’d rather not go to on my own.
This is a book that is very difficult to put down so be prepared to stay up into the wee hours of the morning until the last page is read. Now I’m anxiously awaiting book two in the series.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book and I was pleasantly surprised at the author's unique approach to paranormal fantasy. It's a story with a powerful bite that sunk its teeth into me and didn't let go until it was good and ready.

This story steps outside the box in several areas, particularly when it comes to the archetypal good-vs-evil struggle. There are many shades of grey to be had in this particular tale, which ends on a satisfying note but with the assurance that the adventure has only just begun. This is but the first book in what promises to be an exciting new series, geared toward more mature readers as opposed to the young adult crowd. One series I will definitely be following.

Jordan may have a cool psychic power, hang out with angels and have the ability to kick some serious demon butt, but she still has to deal with the same teenage angst as other girls her age. Family drama, too much responsibility and the fact that she is forced to be something she's not sure she wants to be. Every girls feels like she's got the weight of the world on their shoulders, but Jordan literally does. Blind Sight does an excellent job of describing what is tantamount to a supernatural demon smack-down while keeping Jordan a realistic teenage girl with normal teenage feelings and keeps the reader wanting more. I want more...much, much, more.

What would you do if you never knew if tomorrow would be your last day? If you had one brother who hated you, one who loved you, a guardian angel, and an uncle who was more like your father, would you be able to survive?

Seventeen year old Jordan does it on a daily basis. She has seen more evil in her life than most see in their entire lifetime, yet she's still strong and fighting through it all. Jordan is what is known as a seer. She has visions of evil and the things that it does. Then she relays the information to her brothers, Quinn and Nathan so that they can go track down said evil and kill it. This has been her entire life for as long as she can remember, until now...

When Jordan doesn't do as she's told, she is punished not only physically, but emotionally as well. She learns a few things about one of her brothers that she probably never wanted to hear. Not only that but she is now being visited by demons on a daily basis.

When she's forced to go on a hunt with her brothers and uncle, she soon realizes that her whole life was a lie. The demons are coming out of the woodwork and telling her that she belongs to them. Plus, her guardian angel jumped ship. Could life get any worse for Jordan?

When faced with certain death as well as the death of her family, she decides that death would be the lesser of two evils. She'd rather be dead than live alone without her brothers and uncle. Does Jordan get her wish? Or does something derail that and make her life worse than she ever thought possible?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story because it was one of the ones that you can't put down after you pick it up. The author did a splendid job at not giving any details away until she was ready to reveal them. I can't wait to see what's in store next for Jordan and her family.

The Celedon Circle is a secret society of human demon slayers. Jordan is a seeker, born and raised to fight demons along with her family. Being a seeker makes her rare and highly valued for her visions of demon activity. The story starts with one of Jordan's visions of an unusually horrific monster which has been summoned in a small Tennessee town. Ms. Storey paints graphic pictures of the carnage this monster wreaks and the reader is grabbed by the throat and dragged into the story.

Other than her unique ability and special family circumstances, Jordan is more or less a typical teenager and her humanity is demonstrated throughout the book. With the story being told through Jordan's eyes we get to know her well along with her perspective of some not so good angels and not so bad demons. The lines between good and evil are blurred and the twists in this character-driven plot are startling. I also found all of the characters realistic and well developed, their dialogue was believable, and the relationships authentic.

I have to confess I was held captive through the entire story. The Tennessee story thread is tied up nicely at the end so there is not a cliffhanger ending. However, I can't wait to see how things develop as Jordan's world is turned upside down by an unexpected twist at the end. This could turn into a stellar series. If you are looking for a different sort of urban fantasy this may be a book you would enjoy.

Format/Typo Issues: I found no significant issues.

Nicole Storey's Blind Sight is a well written dark fantasy that winds its way through a unique plot where the moral compass of heaven appears to be skewed and not all demons are entirely evil. Jordan, the teenage protagonist, and her demon slaying family are the ones with the consciences in this world where light and dark interplay. Dark is a heavy hitter and definitely has the upper hand in the world of Blind Sight. The dialogue is clever, and Jordan's plight of having too much responsibility at too young of an age casts a poignancy that reverberates throughout the story. She is realistic about death, knowing that she will probably meet it far sooner than she should. When coming to grips with a disturbing truth about herself, she bravely faces her new reality. The setting of the story, a small mountain town in Tennessee, is a strong "character" in Blind Sight. Storey paints the citizens with respect, and only uses what might be southern stereotypes with light touches with characters the reader doesn't want to like anyway. There are scenes that are brutally violent which were difficult for me to get through, especially the beating Jordan receives from Archangel Michael at the beginning of the book, but they are sparingly used. Storey is an excellent writer. She knows where she is going as a writer, and this confidence shines forth in Blind Sight.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review - Lovers of Paranormal.

WOW. From the very first lines this book grabbed me by the shoulders, shook me and said 'sit up and pay attention'. I did. Right to the very end. Who needs sleep?!

My biggest disappointment? That I can't give it more than 5 stars.

The characters are fabulous and very well written, the plot hurtles you along and every time I thought I would put it down and get some sleep it moved up a notch and I had to carry on. The story keeps you very much in 'the now' but slips in backstory throughout so you also know how the characters got to be where and how they are. There are lots of surprises along the way.

I loved the wit and humour, especially the sarcasm, that was put in, paticularly at the most tense times for the characters. Poot Gabe was so often the target. Jordan has such a great way of dealing with her world, I hope it continues. There are emotional moments too. I knew there was more to Quinn but wondered if we would get to know or if it would be dragged out. Another brilliant aspect to her writing, Nicole Storey did not drag anything out. We were told what we needed to know at the best times. I never felt cheated or disappointed.

Please don't make me wait too long for the next part.

The very first sentence pulls you right into the story. "Blood and Screaming, screaming and blood".

It is followed by a detailed description of a monster savagely attacking a young girl in a forest near a campground. This is the same monster that Jordan and her family (Uncle Case and her brothers, Quinn and Nathan) will attempt to find and eliminate in the subsequent chapters of "Blind Sight".

Jordan is a teenaged girl with a lot of responsibility and no friends to speak of. She would rather have a normal life and not have the visions that invade her mind or the frequent visits from her Guardian Angels. But, she cannot turn her back on the responsibilities of the Celadon Circle, no matter how much she may want to.

The story takes many dramatic twists and turns until finally secrets are revealed and alliances are formed near the end of the story. The secrets come as a shock to Jordan and to her family, but I will not include those spoilers here. I do not want to give away any of the plot - it is that good! Suffice it to say, the ending was a shocker and not one I expected.

I would whole-heartedly recommend "Blind Sight" to young adult readers as well as adult readers who like paranormal fiction with a strong heroine as the lead character.

Well Done, Ms. Storey!

I received this book in return for an honest review.

This has to be one of the best stories I've read in a long while.

Where the worlds of angels and demons collide, humans are stuck in the middle.

One family in particular feels the pressures pouring in from both sides; ordered around by arrogant, and often sociopathic angels and hunted by tricky demons that seem to be behaving strangely civilly, this family has more history and heartache on its shoulders than most.

In this family survives a vibrant and, lets face it, kick ass young girl called Jordan.

Jordan is a girl like no other, possessed with a 'gift' that others see as valuable she is kept 'safe' and is unintentionally isolated from what's left of her family.

Things change when a particularly nasty demon comes to town and Jordan is allowed to help, but things don't quite go according to plan.
Now a family history that has always been tumultuous is about to boil over and spill secrets that could potentially tear the fragile little family apart indefinitely.

Oh, and then there is of course the demon to deal with.

The storyline was intriguing from the first page and had alot of twists and turns that had you wondering what would happen next. This is a good vs evil but its not your usual black and white, it has alot of grey area.

Jordan was a very interesting character, she seemed like she had the world on her shoulder and more mature for her age then others times we would see glimses of her feeling as a normal teenager or as normal as she can get with her life. Mixed in with the horror of her life is her great wit.

There were some interesting suprises in this book but it also explained a few things. I didn't want to put this book down once i started and can't wait to read more for this series, this book was a great start to something that could be a wonderful different series.

Jordan is in the middle of a physic vision that leaves her paralyzed afterward when this book starts. Her family business is being part of the Celadon Circle that helps keep evil in check. Her visions help her uncle and brothers to find the evil. All Jordan wants is a normal life but things get crazy for her and her family.

I really loved this book. The characters were all really well written and the storyline flowed nicely with lots of twists and turns. Some were obvious, others caught me off guard.

This was a really great YA paranormal thriller. Once it pulled me in I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens to Jordan next.

Blind Sight captured my attention and held it from the very beginning. The author had the plot moving fluidly and throwing in twists and turns to keep the suspense high. I was sitting on the edge of my seat and screaming instructions at the characters in multiple scenarios. I felt a part of the world and emotions created. I loved the plot and enjoyed the author's unique ideas that now leave me salivating for the next book. I highly recommend this book and will now be waiting not so patiently for more of the Celadon Circle.

If you like stories of good versus evil this is the book for you. I love stories where the line between reality and fantasy is not clear and this author knows how to bring her reader into the story. This is definitely a book that kidnaps the reader until the very end.

I have read all of this author's books and have thoroughly loved them. Unlike her Grimsley Hollow series this book is for older readers.

Constant visions of death and danger plague Jordan’s life. Unfortunately this is part of the family business of fighting demons and monsters.
Soon, Jordan learns that the real danger may not be what she expects, and is closer than she thinks.

Blind Sight is a nonstop exciting ride. A very unique story that will keep you on edge and begging for more.

Can’t wait for the sequel!

Blind Sight was a fun, easy read that flowed smoothly. I loved that the characters had flaws but were still likeable. Each character had a distinct personality that made them seem more real.

Nicole Storey has a talent to weave a story through creative imagination. Blind Sight brings a new twist to old ideas. I always appreciate a story that doesn’t copy ideas and plots that have already been done. The creativity, originality, and fun characters immediately wrapped me into the story and I didn’t want to put it down.

In the beginning the reader is introduced to Jordan, a teenage girl who lives in the backwoods with her uncle and two older brothers. Jordan is gifted or cursed with the ability to see and talk to angels. The angels don’t follow the traditional line of thinking that all angelic creatures are good. The angels have a mission and a purpose, but it definitely isn’t about flitting around in white dresses with pretty wings and halos. Blind Sight is a story that crosses traditional lines and the reader is left wondering which side the angels and demons are on. Yep, there are demons in the story too. This is a tale that kept me turning the pages because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

I mentioned that each character has a distinct personality. Her brothers weren’t always nice, but they were likeable and the story wouldn’t be the same without them. I also love Jordan’s friend, Wendy. Wendy has flaws as well and it was perfect because so many teenage girls who read this will be able to relate to her. If Wendy was a real person, she would be a great role model.

Any downsides to this story? If you are a strict christian who has firm beliefs of angels and the role they play, you probably won’t enjoy the story. But if you love a book with an exciting paranormal twist, you will absolutely love this book. I also love that this is a YA book that I would be able to recommend to readers who actually fall into the YA age range. So many YA books these days have questionable love scenes and excessive language that aren’t necessarily appropriate for YA readers. As an adult, I enjoy these books but wouldn’t recommend them to the teenagers who I know and work with. Blind Sight is a fun read for teenagers and adults and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves a great paranormal adventure. I am most excited that this is only book #1 in the series. I will definitely be one of the first readers to pick up book #2 in The Celadon Circle series once it is released! :-) 5*****

17 year old Jordan is a Seer for the Circle, a group of demon slayers who protect humans. Or at least she was until she quit. Now she's a literal slayer, who physically hunts along with the uncle who raised her and older brothers who are twins - one of whom seems to really hate her.

The family travels from Wyoming to Tennessee to kill a Kongamato demon, and Jordan takes a lot of matters into her own hands. Dealing with a chauvinistic uncle and brother (the other one is just fine) who can't seem to figure out that Jordan doesn't need protecting just b/c she's a girl, holds her own in a fight with three older backwoods hillbillies, and even manages to make a new friend. There's also some long lost father issues that really mess things up.

What I loved is that everyone comes around to the fact that this isn't some weak little girl. And even Wendy, the new friend that Jordan makes, ends up saving the day in quite an usual manner. These are females that are strong, particularly for their environment (I've learned through friends who live in the south that women are respected MUCH less than in the north. Protect ourselves - how dare we!?), yet Wendy and Jordan don't give it two thoughts; they just do what they need to do.

I didn't even notice the lack of romance, either until I read it in another review. I actually like that there was no romance. Sometimes I feel like it's thrown in there as a filler, b/c women just "have to have" a guy they're interested in or their lives aren't complete ::eye roll::
But this had 0 romance, and I appreciated that the author focused on the actual storyline and not some cheesy & unnecessary romance.

I love the character development of not just the women, but Quinn (the brother that hates her) as well. Kudos for bringing these characters into their own.

Being a teenage girl and growing up without a mother is tough enough. Throw in special powers, a brother who resents you and angels and demon vying for your attention, and you have the world going crazy around you.

Jordan has visions that allow her to see evil monsters. She relays those images to her brothers who hunt the creature and kill it before it can do more damage. Jordan is isolated, but loves her family. Her only friend is her family’s guardian angel, but even he has been acting shady as of late.

Jordan’s most recent vision sends the entire family on a hunt to Tennessee where they have to destroy a rare creature that is killing people in a small town. This hunt is anything but ordinary – if killing mystical creatures can be called ordinary – as Jordan learns more about her true nature.

The book is well written and the action moved throughout. The twists are interesting and you feel for Jordan. She tries her best, but that may not be good enough because things happened before she was born that she cannot change.

This is the first book in the Celadon Series by Nicole Storey, but you don’t have to worry about there being a major cliffhanger at the end. The creature story wraps up and all the big secrets are out in the open.

However, I’m intrigued to see where Jordan’s next adventure will take her.

Blind Sight by Nicole Storey is the first in the Celadon Circle series. This circle is a secret society devised to rid the world of demons, monsters, and evil-doers. Orphaned, Jordan lived with her older brothers and uncle. Since she was a child, Jordan blinded sighted by visions of monster and demons. She would relate these visions to her family and then the men would go fight the demons. Now seventeen, Jordan believes that she is ready to join her siblings and uncle in the fight of Good vs. Evil. But then, Jordan learns that not everything is black or white, good or bad.

This book is entertaining on so many levels: a strong female protagonist, well-defined secondary characters, an unpredictable plot, and original word usage. When I finished the book I rushed to buy the sequel. I just had to see what happened next.

First off I want to give the author a HUGE thank you for sending me a copy of this book to review :)

Jordan is a young girl who although is love by her uncle and one of her brothers, feels unloved and disappointed in her life. She's been blamed all her life by her brother Quinn for the death of their mother, you see Jordan's mother had trouble throughout her pregnancy and unfortunately dies whilst giving birth.

Anywhooo this story is about Jordan learning her family truths, her heritage.

Good Vs Evil

Angels Vs Demons

There is certainly some revelations that you may not of guessed whilst reading this.

Nicole does a brilliant job in keeping the reader interested in the story and her writing. She has written the book beautifully and managed the characters well.

You go through all the emotions whilst reading this; laughter, anguish, sadness, betrayal, loneliness, pain & last but certainly not the least......FEAR!

I certainly am looking forward to the second instalment in this series :)
