Animal Talk: Interspecies Telepathic Communication

Rate this book
A straightforward, easy-to-understand book that teaches you how to directly communicate with animals.

Animal Talk teaches you how to open the door to your animal friends’ hearts and minds without resorting to magic tricks or wishful thinking. Every creature can be reached through telepathic communication—from your tabby cat or cockatiel to the wasps that build nests in the eaves of your home or even the common flea—you just have to be open to the idea, and mind-to-mind communication will be in your grasp.

In addition to an entire chapter devoted to teaching people how to develop mind-to-mind communication with animals, Animal Talk includes a discussion of freedom, control, and obedience, understanding behaviors from the animal’s point of view, how to handle upsets between animals, tips on nutrition for healthier pets, and the special relationship between animals and children.

Communicating with animals telepathically throughout her life, Penelope Smith discovered in 1971 that animals could be relieved of emotional traumas and other problems through the same counseling techniques that helped humans. Author of the popular classic books in the field, Animal Talk (first edition-1978), When Animals Speak, Animals in Spirit, many audio recordings, and editor of Species Link magazine, Penelope has held the hub of the growing community of animal communicators worldwide for decades.
Penelope's visionary work has been featured in newspaper and magazine articles, numerous books, and on radio and television, in the United States and abroad. She has developed tried-and-true telepathic communication techniques, which complement current scientific knowledge and traditional methods. As the world's leading teacher of basic and advanced interspecies telepathic communication, she has helped launch the careers of numerous professional animal communicators. Penelope feels that the sacred connection we make through telepathic communication with other species is essential for human wholeness. She believes that everyone is born with the power to communicate with other species, and that, although it is long lost for most people, it can be regained for the benefit of all beings on Earth.

I just recently took a weekend curse in Interspecies Communication. I have always been fond of animals, and when I was growing up I had all kinds of animal companions in the house. Of course we had a big house with a large garden so I had dogs, cats, rabbits, hens, a rooster, frogs and fish in the fountain, canaries, a parrot, and what not. Now I can’t have many animal friends due to space limitations, but I currently have 4 cats, 1 mouse and 6 hamsters as my companions. I haven’t been able to communicate with all of them, but so far I have done so and well with one of the cats, Bruma, one of the hamsters, Uriel, and the mouse, Byron.

Now, communicating with animals does require a lot of practice, patience and openness. You really have to trust what you get, and don’t judge anything that comes to mind. You will develop your own way of perceiving what they say, it can be through images, sensations, or even words. Trust your higher self. And I do suggest you keep a notebook nearby so you can record your experiences. The book gives you different techniques to communicate with animals, and their steps are easy to follow. The author gives you good advice and guides you through the process. I’m no expert, but would love to achieve a true and meaningful way to communicate with my animal friends so we all can live together in a more harmonious family dynamic. This is the first book I read on this subject and so far it’s a good starting point. I’ll get some more regarding this subject so I can improve in my communication habilites.

Interspecies communication is something I have always pondered. This book teaches how to open the mind in order to receive telepathic messages from animals. While all of the stories were wonderful to read, the believability factor on one or two was low for me. It certainly changes the way one looks at animals; as spiritual beings equal to humans. If nothing else this book describes ways to calm the mind into a meditative state and to treat animals as our equals, rather than below us. It was a nice read overall.

If you're expecting a step-by-step guide on communicating with animals, I don't think this is THE book for you. ("The Language of Animals" by Carol Gurney is more of a detailed how-to in animal communication; I think since Gurney re-learned the natural, innate skill of telepathic communication later in life, she's more cognizant of how to teach others in the same position. Smith, by comparison, never did lose her abilities and is therefore less inclined to approach the subject in the same manner).

If you're wanting to expand your metaphysical awareness and open your mind up to a new paradigm, then I think you should definitely give this book a read!

The ending chapter about why souls would prefer to incarnate as animals rather than as human is fascinating and beautiful.

Although I am sympathetic to the author's general concept of animal intelligence and ability to communicate, she carries it further than I can readily accept... leading me actually to question the book's "nonfiction" category at times. Over and beyond that, I found the writing itself repetitive and rather superficial despite the seeming depth of the subject matter, namely animal spirituality, communicability and deep companionability. I don't think this book carries the force and conviction I expected, considering I deeply love and respect animal life myself.

Penelope Smith's book "Animal Talk" was first published in 1978, has been republished with numerous editions since then. It is considered a classic in the field of animal communication and helps the reader gain respect and appreciation for the gifts animals bring us. She gives several intriguing accounts of how she worked with animals and their thoughts and emotions are fascinating. You will never look at animals quite the same way after reading this book, instead you will hopefully come to regard them as equals, simply with a coat of fur or feathers. A great read whether you want to become an animal communicator or simply want to gain more insight into their fascinating world.

This is the only thing I could think of throughout.

I have no idea how I ended up with this book, it's been on my 'to read' shelf for years and I'm assuming that I picked it up because I thought it was about animal communication. Which I guess it was ... in a way. I guess one thing I can say is that this sort of work would help encourage people to empathise with, and take the perspective of, animals, and that will generally be a good thing. The stories were fun to read and there was a small amount of wistful "wouldn't it be nice if ..." but otherwise not much here for someone like me.

Do you believe that you can communicate with animals? If so, then Animal Talk will broaden your view and hone your skills in telepathic communication. Penelope Smith explains, step by step, how to communicate, not only with domestic animals, but wild ones, too. Even ants! The first step, beneficial to us all, is to quiet ourselves so that we can listen effectively. Now, if you don't believe in animal communication, this book will seem far out and unbelievable. I think it would still be interesting to most people, but mostly to animal lovers.

I expected more from this book. It seemed disappointingly superficial. If I wanted a book on diet, I would have bought one. Unfortunately, rather than making me more inclined to believe in interspecies communication, I found very little to support the idea — too much fluff and not enough solid information.

Some might think this book a bit fanciful or new-agey. One might either pooh-pooh it as rubbish, or take a leap of faith, depending on one's affinity with animals. The advice given, practical and questionable, comes completely from a place of love.

This was a fascinating and practical introduction to animal communication. Through Penelope's numerous examples, I was really able to see how we can easily misinterpret the intention and underlying cause of animal behaviour. Through Penelope's helpful suggestions and instructions on how to communicate with animals you can sort out many emotional, mental, emotional, and spiritual problems, assisting your animals in living happier lives and enhancing your relationship with them as well.

I was especially intrigued by the last chapter of the book where Penelope discusses reincarnation and animals, suggesting that animals are not lesser beings than humans in the hierarchy of life forms or spiritual development. She discusses several interesting reasons why a soul might choose to reincarnate in animal form, regardless of whether or not it was previously incarnated as an animal or human. Her insights gave me lots to think about.

This book was overall a much more interesting read than I expected it to be. I picked the book up at the library on a whim (as I am want to do) after seeing its title in the New Release Non-Fiction section. At first I thought the book's premise was ridiculous and that it'd be a fun laugh - this thought did not dissipate for a while.

Although my initial inclination was to quickly dismiss everything that was contained within the book, the further into the book I read, the more this skepticism dissolved. Although some of the book still rings as creepy new-age crap (i.e. her Whale poem was a bit creepy) the book was altogether of a more sound mind than I expected.

I wouldn't go around lauding this book to people, but at the same time I wouldn't routinely dismiss it as I firstly wished to do. So, overall, this book was good if taken with a hearty grain of common sense.

As I continue to speak with all species I am fascinated by their apparent response...but how to know they were actually replying was the mystery. This book opened my eyes to the process and step-by-step guidance I had been searching for. It was through this book that I began to clearly connect using telepathy. I recommend this book for ALL people. Hopefully our planet will be better equipped to help others by learning good communication skills. Read this book and pass it on, this truly is an awakening that can begin for ALL ages.
