First, I absolutely love this cover.

I thought it was a fun, dark twist on Alice in Wonderland. I believe this is the author's first book and I look forward to more of the story.

There's a war looming in the Netherworld and as can be expected, Alice is the 'chosen one ' You get demons, vampires, lycans, berserkers, a chimera sidekick, and more.

I quite enjoyed this retelling of Alice and wonderland. It was quite a breath of fresh air to go from the typical fantasy to having a dark twist put to it. And I do like how the magical system is different too. I liked how some the characters had a bit of a dark past to them and were trying to right their wrongs and not everyone is as they seem. There’s plenty of plot twists and it’s quite a nice short read too. I’m intrigued to see where it goes from here.

I would give this book a 3.5-4 stars

Based on the cover I was expecting dark, gothic, adult fantasy.

It’s actually an Alive in Wonderland retelling which I actually enjoyed but I didn’t find it very dark. It also felt rushed in places and read more as a YA book.

That aside, it actually picked up nearer the end and I will probably pick up the next book.

I got lucky enough to snag an advance copy of this book from the publisher and couldn't wait to dive in – and seriously, can we talk about that cover for a second?

Going in, I thought I was getting a story about a girl who ends up in some alternate dimension (giving me major "Stranger Things" vibes from the blurb talking about things being "completely upside down"). Plot twist: it's actually an Alice in Wonderland retelling! Our main character Alison ends up in a coma after a hit-and-run and finds herself in this place called the Netherworld. She becomes a Dream Walker and has to dodge the Queen who's out to get her because – you guessed it – she's the chosen one. Pretty familiar territory, right?

I'll be honest, I usually side-eye retellings. It's hard to shake off the original story and movie scenes that are burned into your brain. But this one? It's not nearly as rough as other reviews make it sound. Sure, it could've been better with more pages to breathe. Fantasy books always face this struggle when they're on the shorter side – cramming a whole world into a tiny space without just info-dumping everywhere. But I think this one handled it pretty well.

The Good Stuff:
- A fresh spin on Alice in Wonderland
- Twin totally steals the show – loved every scene he was in
- The cool mix of vampires, lycans, and demons (wasn't expecting that!)

The Not-So-Great:
- Had trouble connecting with the main character – her personality kept ping-ponging between super insecure and suddenly fearless
- Lots of interesting plot threads that never really went anywhere
- Needed more time to develop the plot a bit better.

Bottom line: If you're into retellings, give it a shot. Yeah, it could use more meat on its bones, but that's not a deal-breaker. It's got good bones – just needed a bit more time to grow into them.

This book was such a surprise in so many ways.

As you know, I never read a blurb before reading a book and so went into this blind - just being drawn in initially, by the brilliantly creepy front cover image.

Now, having not checked out any kind of blurb beforehand meant that I had no idea that this was a quirky retelling of Alice In Wonderland - one of my favourite classics - so after a tense and exciting introduction, I was really pleased once I discovered the very unsubtle hints at where this story was heading.

I absolutely loved all the similarities with the original storyline - but what made this even more compelling were the changes and tweaks which added so many layers to this read that had me completely hooked from start to finish and I just couldn't put this down.

This was packed with surprises and all of the paranormal creatures you could ever want to see in a gothic horror read.

I loved all the different characters and personalities and loved learning about each of their abilities and powers along the way.

I especially liked Ollie and Ouzo - I could really visualise them and their antics.

The story unfolds gradually flitting between "dream" Alison in the Netherworld and the real Alison and her friends back in the real world.

The tension building on each side, especially as we see the consequences and connections between the two.

What I hadn't anticipated - was that this is only the first book in this series and we were left on a cliffhanger that I really hadn't been ready for!

What a shocker!

This is so well written and a brilliant YA introduction to this genre - something pretty familiar with some great creepy and gory additions.

I raced through this and absolutely have to get my hands on the second book asap - I can't wait to see what happens to Alison and her friends in both worlds.

First, that cover. Incredible!
The details, the gothic vibe and the power it portrays. 👌🖤

The book itself... I dived in expecting a real dark gothic tale. I must have missed the note, but it's actually a YA gothic retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Which for me, I love a good YA read, but I found the writing a bit too juvenile.

Fully aware this is a first book and with YA in mind, it has real potential. I love the take on the classic tale and the twist, the characters and the darker elements. The thought of seeing Alice in Wonderland amongst a wasteland vibe! So good! ☢️

The ending didn't quite hit the mark, I loved where it was going but I think overall the read needs some character development and more visual description, so we can fully immerse ourselves and fall in love with the FMC / creatures / world Bruce has created. The plot also needs a little refining to make it super clear, even adding the characters name were following for each chapter for clarity.

I adore the premise and want more character time so am looking forward to reading more, especially now my expectations are more in line with storyline and YA vibes.

The cover art is insanely good too so excited to see more. I just wish the book lived up to the same intensity and gothic vibes.

----🐺🧛‍♀️⚔️

If you're looking for a more gothic take on Alice in Wonderland, that has all the creatures and the classic tales film favourites, then this is for you!

• Mad Hatter
• The Queen
• Rabbit
• Vampires
• Werewolves
• Avengers
• Guardians
• Demons
• Your subconscious
the list goes on...

A fun short fantasy read with a lil kick!

👑 The Chosen One
🐺 All the creatures
🧛‍♀️ Fantasy realm
👥 Human world

I’ve always had a fascination with dreams—from the dreamstate, how the brain works during that time, even what goes on when one is in a coma. Bruce Martin’s Dream Walker brings this concept into his gothic retelling of Alice in Wonderland.

Many years ago, I read Suzanne Collins’ The Underland Chronicles to my son, and Dream Walker has a similar fantasy vibe. However, Dream Walker has some darker elements.

I enjoyed Bruce Martin’s story as I followed Allison as she worked her way through the Netherworld—meeting the various creatures that had some additions not found in the original story. Think vampires and werewolves. It was exciting to read Allison’s journey as she learns why she is there, while those around her prevent her at all costs.

I definitely see Dream Walker becoming a series, given how it ends. It opens it up to so much more.

Thank you to Love Book Tours and Author Bruce Martin for the gifted copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A gothic Alice in Wonderland retelling with vampires and werewolves. I absolutely loved this. It was such a great book, and it was a pleasure to read. I love the cover. It's well designed and works so well for the book. The book is well written and flows nicely. The book is written in multiple POV format. This works well. The world-building in the book is stunning. The book is set in the regular human realm and in the Netherworld. The Netherworld was fantastic, and I cannot wait for more here. The characters are excellent, and they are well-developed. Alison is a good version of Alice. She's brave and does what she needs to. My favourite character, I think, is Hatter. He was so different, and I loved him! I highly recommend the book and I cannot wait to read the next installment!!!!

This is a dark twist on Alice in Wonderland. There are some familiar characters - Hatter, Rabbit, Cat, The Queen, etc. - but also added vampires and werewolves!

I loved the premise of it. Alison is hit by a car and is in a coma. Meanwhile, she is also in the Netherworld meeting the cast of unusual characters.

I loved how the story hopped between the Netherworld and what was happening in the 'real world'.

There was lots of drama and mystery going on in both worlds. The book is short and fast-paced. I whizzed through it in a day and am eager to read the next installment.

Well, this is an absolutely twisted, dark and horrifying version of it!!! A much, much better version of it if I do say so myself!! Where Alice lands in Wonderland, Alison lands in The Wasteland in the Netherworld which is just the entry level, the Queen Of Hearts is an extremely powerful vampire as are her security team the Card Men and there are mythical creatures such as Avenging Angels who have no eyes but bleed from the sockets, a Chimera that is a mix of goat, lion and snake, Wendigo's (cannibals), and many more!! This book is perfect for fans of fantasy, adventure and horror alike and I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the next book in this promising series! Speaking of which, the next book in the series is available to pre-order on Amazon NOW. It is called 'Realm Walker' and will be published on the 24th February!!

If you love thrillers, horror, fantasy, gore, paranormal, mythological creatures, action, unique, mind blowing, action packed books and .do you know what? Whatever you like to read just give this a go and you will NOT regret it!!! As you can tell I absolutely LOVED this addictive and explosive page turner!!! I have read so many books that it is getting harder and harder for me to find a truly unique plot but Bruce absolutely smashes it out of the park with this one!! There was no way I could put this book down until I had finished it. I picked it up and even though I kept telling myself just one more chapter I just could not put it down as every time I went to something happened which meant I had to read just one more again until I ended up reading it in one day having been glued to the book for most of it! Bruce's vivid evocative writing skills and descriptions really brought the storyline to life and I just cannot wait to get hooked into his next book!!! I have just never come across a book or movie anything like this one and I doubt I will again!!!! I really hope this is brought to the big screen and if not why not? I will definitely be first in line to watch it. I just genuinely love, love, LOVED IT!!! This book will suck you in and keep you gripped in the pages until you are thrown out at the end! A truly unforgettable one in a million page turner!!!! An absolute must read that I wont be forgetting about anytime soon!!

Do not start this book until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!

The fact that this is Bruce's debut novel yet he has managed to create these amazing, unique and strong characters is just absolutely amazing!!! All of the characters were multi layered with complex personalities which definitely made them all the more interesting to read about!!! Unfortunately, I really can not say anymore as I don't want to spoil it for future readers. Regardless of what I thought about who, each character worked perfectly to make this such an epic read!!! I just cannot wait to see what characters this amazing author comes up with next!!! Bruce's writing skills are as he completely brought them all to life for me. An absolutely fantastic selection of unique characters that all worked together perfectly to create an absolutely chilling, gripping, horrific, hilarious and addictive page turner!!! This book really is a truly unique page turner that I picked up this morning and had completely devoured by the end of the day!!! When the hell is this being made into a film and when are you bringing your next book out as I need my next hit!!!

Overall an absolutely unputdownable, action packed, gothic, intriguing, action packed, fantasy and horror filled MUST READ!

In Dream Walker, readers are invited to step into the netherworld, a dark and twisted version of Wonderland. This realm is perfect for those who love dark fairytales where nothing is quite as it seems, promising a thrilling adventure. The story introduces us to a variety of intriguing characters, including the ‘not’ mad hatter, a skilled time smith, and Alison, the main protagonist. The land is ruled by the formidable Queen of Hearts, whose card men enforce her reign, creating an atmosphere of danger and suspense around every corner. This young adult fantasy novel is a captivating read, filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. However, it’s worth noting that some parts of the story may not be suitable for very young children due to its darker themes. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this imaginative and gripping tale, and I believe it will appeal to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, dark fantasy adventure.

Thank you to Netgalley and Cranthorpe Millner for the ARC in return for my honest review.

Dreamwalker by Bruce Martin is a dark Alice in Wonderland retelling that has an interesting concept.
Alison is going out with her friends when she is hit by a car in a mysterious accident. She wakes up to find herself in a version of Wonderland, which was made famous by Lewis Carroll. Alison is “dreamwalking” in wonderland with her real body still in the real world in a coma. She and Hatter (an assassin) make their way through wonderland causing chaos and trying to get Alison back to her body.

This novel has promise, as the plot line was fairly interesting, however, I really think it should be advertised as what it is. There is no mention in the blurb that this is a retelling, causing disappointment before even getting into the story. I am not a big retelling reader, so it was jarring to be put in a world I already knew. It seems as if it would have been easy to change characters names and some descriptions as they were mostly changed anyway and had new characters already added. As other reviewers have said, there is also a lot of information dumping and lots of telling instead of showing. The first scene in wonderland is the Hatter just explaining everything to Alison, which is not exciting. The dialogue feels stilted and the characters call each other by name more frequently than in real life. I personally did not like the main character Alison. She didn’t seem to have consistent personality traits. One moment she was cautious, the next she was being brash and insulting other characters. I think my major issue with this novel, however, is the use of Native American culture as characters and plot points. As a British man, maybe Bruce Martin doesn’t know, but it’s not cool to use NA folklore in books that have nothing to do with Native Americans. The honorific Chief also seems used in a manner that is not sensitive. It also doesn’t seem as if he understands the nuances behind the Wendigo and just thought it would be a cool character to add to his book full of vampires and werewolves. My last issue is that the book just stops. There is no sense of things wrapping up, no conclusion. The whole novel seems to be leading up to a confrontation with the Red Queen, and yet that doesn’t happen. And the epilogue is just confusing, are there supposed to be more books? Is this a series? There are lots of questions. Honestly, if I did not receive an ARC of this book, I most likely would have DNF’d it. The author has promise but needs to hone his skill some more.

3.5/5 - This is an interesting dark twist on Alice in Wonderland.

Dream Walker is an action packed story with lots of different dark creatures lurking. I enjoyed the premise for this story, there’s strong potential for further world building and the directions that this series might take.

I would have loved more time to develop a connection with the characters and gain more of an insight to the different perspectives. For such a strong story with so many characters this was unfortunately a very short book, there were parts that felt a little bit like an explanation where as I would have loved to discover things a bit more naturally as the story progressed and we met different characters. I think this is down to the lenght of the story as a lot does happen in a short timeframe. I guess what I’m saying is “WE WANT MOREEE!” *To be chanted in the same style as a bold child demanding more dessert*

I would have loved to see more of the relationships between characters developing, it did feel like Alison and Hatter went from strangers to good friends very quickly. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I just think their story would have benefited from being a bit more drawn out and to see their connection forming. At times we did get a lot of information at once, which can be confusing but the author does a great job of reminding us throughout the story of the main important details along the way.

I loved that we got to see the perspective of Alison’s friends back on earth throughout the book, this added tension and had me fearing the consequences of what was happening to Alison in the Netherworld. It helped to remind us that this isn’t just a nightmare, this is real.

I liked seeing some of the deeper messages in the book like when Alison is questioning the need for war and why humans are so awful, with our current times we are all feeling this way when we look at the news, and so I could appreciate Alison’s despair.

If you’re looking for a quick action packed read with some dark twists and turns, this is a good book to pick up. I am excited to see where the Author takes this story, thanks to Bruce for gifting me a copy!

The synopsis of this book doesn’t do its justice. I thought it is a dark fantasy which I am not fan of. But I decided to give it a try and see if maybe I will like dark fantasy this time.

First impression: this is not as dark as I thought it would be. I was surprised to read what I think of as Alice in Wonderland reimagined.

I like the Hatter as a professional retired mercenary, Ma the armless seamstress, Cat as a subconscious, Queen as a vampire, Caterpilar as a leader of the demons, a dog who is not a dog, and other realms in this Netherworld apart from Wasteland.

What I didn’t get from the book plot is how did the Queen and Berserkers find out Alison’s name. She was “an unknown girl with a Hatter” for all, Queen included, and the next thing I read was the Queen shouting Alison’s full name.

The synopsis doesn’t say any of this for some reason. I wish it did. Because it’s even somewhat cozy instead of being all dark and scary. Yet make no mistake - it is not for kids with all these monsters. It’s an adult fantasy.

I liked it. It’s like a darker version of Alice in Wonderland for adults. It was cute. Dark fantasies are not cute. That’s because it’s not a dark fantasy. It’s more like a gothic fantasy.

And it is a gothic fantasy more than a dark fantasy with all these gothic tropes. It’s not as edgy as dark fantasy. Not as dark.

It will appeal to those who love books like One Dark Window.

I read the reviews and I feel like the synopsis is sole and main problem here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the book, the plot, the characters. It’s imaginative, creative, immersive enough that I read it in 2 sitting with a short break in between.

The problem is that the synopsis is generic. It doesn’t say anything about the plot being a dark gothic Alice in Wonderland.
It misrepresents the book. It is generated to describe a plot as a dark fantasy thus focusing on the wrong target audience.

This is the main reason of frustration in the reviews from readers who expected dark edge of a borderline horror fantasy and instead read an easier plot - a gothic Alice in Wonderland. Obviously, they feel they have been misled

I, on the other hand, am in the correct target audience. However, after reading the synopsis, I decided that it’s not for me because or could be too dark and I didn’t quite had a feel of what it is exactly about. I wasn’t planning to read it. I took it to skim because I had a short opening before this book was due to ship to the bookaway winner. It was the last in the stack - I read the rest and left only this book because I didn’t want to read it after reading the synopsis.

My surprise when I started to read it is hard to describe. It is nothing like I thought it would be. Quite the opposite. It is something that I love reading. But I couldn’t for the life of me to get this idea from the synopsis.

I strongly believe that by switching the focus of advertising line, by remaking the main synopsis online, by mentioning reimagining of Alice in Wonderland along the lines and redirecting the appeal to the gothic fantasy readers, this book will be successful. Because it is good. It just needs a correct road sign.

Dream Walker by Bruce Martin is a dark, gothic retelling of Alice in Wonderland that blends dream logic, identity, and unease into an intriguing if occasionally uneven story.
This is very much a dark story, steeped in gothic atmosphere and surreal imagery. The Wonderland (or Wasteland) elements are recognizable but reimagined in a way that feels unsettling rather than whimsical. The tone leans heavily into darkness, which worked well for the overall concept.
I connected most strongly with Alice before she entered Wonderland/Wasteland. Her life and personality felt grounded and relatable, someone just trying to make it through life. Once the story shifted, Alice’s journey became more plot-driven, as the characters largely function as dark reflections of their Wonderland counterparts rather than fully independent personalities.
The dream-walking concept itself is intriguing, but I’m still somewhat unclear on how it fully works. There are hints at Alice’s powers and the skills she’s earned through dreams, but these ideas aren’t completely fleshed out yet. I’m hoping Book 2 provides more clarity and expands on these mechanics.
The world-building sits somewhere between vivid and abstract. While certain moments and locations were well developed, I found myself wishing for more so I could fully visualize the spaces Alice moves through. It feels intentional, but at times it limited my immersion.
The strongest theme here is identity. Alice questioning who she is, what’s real, and whether reality and dream can even be separated. That internal conflict carries much of the emotional weight of the story.
My main critique is Alice’s emotional response to the chaos around her. She adapts very quickly and goes with the flow in ways that felt unrealistic given the circumstances. Her first true emotional outburst comes late in the story and resolves too quickly, when I expected more resistance and emotional fallout earlier on.
Overall, Dream Walker feels like a solid and promising beginning. While it has some rough edges, the concept is compelling, the tone is strong, and I’m genuinely interested to see how the story and world develop further in Book 2.

Dreamwalker by Bruce Martin is a spellbinding adventure that plunges readers into a realm where magic and menace are woven tightly together. The story follows Alison Wilde, a seemingly ordinary young woman whose life turns surreal when she’s thrust into the enigmatic Netherworld. Bereft of her earthly memories, Alison must confront her fears and navigate a landscape teeming with nightmarish creatures, shadowed by the constant presence of deception and illusion.

Martin’s prose is richly descriptive, vividly painting the eerie allure of the Netherworld and making it feel at once enchanting and perilous. Alison’s journey is more than just a descent into a world of myth and magic; it’s a quest for self-discovery in a reality where little is as it appears. As her companions guide her, readers quickly sense that their motives are as layered as the world itself, building tension and mystery. The book’s darker forces emerge as the plot thickens, suggesting that Alison’s fate is not simply about survival but has profound implications for the universe.

The pacing balances bursts of action with moments of introspection, letting readers fully appreciate Alison’s transformation from an uncertain outsider to a powerful force. Martin skillfully uses Alison’s fragmented memories and unfamiliar surroundings to highlight the disorientation she feels, adding a psychological depth that resonates as the story unfolds. The suspense of not knowing who to trust or what dangers lie ahead will keep readers on edge, and the stakes feel satisfyingly high as Alison’s true potential—and its implications—become clear.

Overall, Dreamwalker is an engaging blend of fantasy and suspense. It offers an enthralling look at fate, identity, and the boundaries of reality. Fans of dark fantasy with nuanced characters and richly built worlds will find this an unforgettable journey.

If you like your fairytales a bit darker, your characters deliciously crazy, and a story that takes you on an adventure of twists and turns, then Dream Walker is the novel for you. It is an Alice in Wonderland retelling, but rather than being the atypical mystical crazy but sweet fantasy take that a lot of authors do for this subgenre (and nothing wrong with this; I personally am a big fan of the classical retelling versions!), it presents a dark unsettled view of Wonderland. Imagine if all the characters and magical creatures that you expect to see in classic Wonderland, are just not quite right... like looking into a mirror and feeling your reflection is not quite your own... Dream Walker gives this vibes. It's an eyrie tale where Wonderland has become "Netherworld".

I would have enjoyed it more, if the author had taken it even darker, which from his writing style, I feel he could pull off really well, but I believe it is a young adult novel, so that wouldn't be an appropriate direction to take it in. I feel if you are a young adult reader, your rating for this novel would reflect on the higher side.

As typical of young adult novels, the characters were put into difficult situations were they had to rely on themselves and friendships to overcome the odds. It was quite heartwarming in these parts, and made the twists even more dramatic.

If you found the Cheshire Cat and co in Alice in Wonderland cute, and fancy a creepier version, then give this book a go. Perhaps a good way to ease yourself into the spooky season? - - it releases perfectly 2 days before Halloween!

Thank you to the author and @cranthorpemillner for allowing me to read this ARC.

Dream Walker by Bruce Martin — which I believe is his debut novel — is a dark fairytale retelling inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I do love a fairytale retelling, especially when they take a darker approach. For me personally, this one wasn’t extremely dark, though I know some readers may disagree.

This is an interesting opening book with a great concept and a unique twist, and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series, which I believe is due to be released in the next couple of months.

You’ll recognise several characters from the original fairytale, such as the Cheshire Cat, Alice, the Caterpillar, the Mad Hatter, the Red Queen, and the White Rabbit — although they are definitely not portrayed as you might expect.

There are also plenty of monsters for monster lovers, including vampires, demons, and lycans, just to name a few.

The story follows Alice, who is involved in a hit-and-run accident that sends her to a place called the Netherworld. She tries to uncover how this happened and what it means for her, with the help of several characters we all know and love.

Overall, I did enjoy this book, but I felt the plot could have been developed a little more. At times, the story moved quite quickly between different events, and I would have liked more character development — particularly with the FMC, who I struggled to fully connect with. That said, I think the groundwork has been laid well, and I’m hoping the next book expands on this.

It was a quick and enjoyable read, and I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series.

This book surprised me. I didn’t expect a retelling of Alice and wonderland at all from the synopsis. This is a darker, creepier version of Alice in Wonderland, that I think people who enjoyed Grimms Fairytales will like.

The character descriptions were great, but I struggled and zoned out in places due to a lot of info dumping in one place. I also felt like there was a lot more dialogue between characters “telling” the story over the story itself actually “showing” the reader what’s happening.

I did enjoy the story progression. It was clear and easy to follow from chapter to chapter and I think it passed at a well rounded pace.

The characters themselves were great. I love the idea of the Hatter being an Assassin, I don’t know why but it just makes sense to me. As above, I think more showing rather than telling when it comes to the characters appearance would have made the novel more immersive, as it was a lot of description.

Overall, I think this is a nice short novel for people who like retelling of fairy tales, especially if you like things a little darker!

Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this novel in return for a honest review.

Dream Walker is a different and interesting read, especially for readers who enjoy mystery-driven stories and worlds filled with mystical creatures. This story functions as a loose reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, taking familiar elements and placing them into a darker, paranormal setting.

We follow Alison after she’s placed into a coma by an as-yet unknown entity, only to wake up in an alternate realm populated by vampires, lycans, demons, and other supernatural beings. As she navigates this new world, she begins to realize that not only is this realm hiding secrets—but so is her own past.

One of the more enjoyable aspects was seeing this story’s take on classic Wonderland-inspired characters, particularly figures like the Hatter and the Rabbit. It was fun spotting those nods and seeing how they were reimagined within this mystical setting.

While this wasn’t a book I’m running to immediately continue, I am curious enough to read the sequel to see where the story goes and whether the series as a whole develops in a way that might elevate it further. Overall, this is a solid choice for readers who enjoy mystery, alternate realms, and supernatural creatures with a familiar-but-different twist.

Thank you LBT for having me on this book review tour and for my gifted copy of this book. It’s seriously so pretty. I love the cover so much !!!

Gosh this book and just the thought of being able to just visit someone in a dream would be so special and just amazing like a dream world think about it how cool would this be ?? It’s something I’ve been thinking about since reading this book.

The world is called Neatherwolrd and well it’s not as it seems and there is a war coming. I didn’t realize until I got more into the book it’s a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I wasn’t so much into Alice in Wonderland growing up but this book wow pure magic and amazing. I loved the darker take on the characters and that this was geared towards YA. Which I really enjoy even as an adult but I didn’t feel like I was reading YA also loved that.

Only bad part it just ended way too fast. I wanted more and more like why couldn’t we !!!!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. And I am curious to read more by this author. I loved the twists and turns and the darker aspects of this book and how just now I really want to immerse myself in the original Alice in Wonderland!!! I feel I’m really missing out !!!

Alice in Wonderland 🃏 but DARK and deliciously twisted 🖤
First and foremost!!! this is definitely not Disney!
At just over 200 pages, Dream Walker is a palate-cleanser read that grabbed me from page one and didn’t let go. Bruce Martin delivers fantasy that’s **dark, strange, and addicting**

I LOVED the creative spin on Alice in Wonderland ✨
familiar yet completely original. NAILED IT! Expect vampires, lycans, and other jaw-dropping surprises that made the chapters fly by. The world-building is immersive, and Bruce’s attention to detail is honestly brilliant. Some scenes made me cringe (in the best way ***) which just shows how vivid the imagery was. I could literally see everything in my head.
The characters are fully fleshed out with quirks and flaws that make them unforgettable. The pacing was perfect, and every twist kept me guessing. As someone who typically leans into Romantasy, this held my attention the entire time! No love story here !

Yes! it ended on a CLIFFHANGER!!!, and YESS I am ready for the next one! 🖤

Congratulations, Bruce! Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your book tour ! And thank you to Lovebooktours for sending me this ARC!

I love re-tellings, my favorite story is Alice in Wonderland. So when LBT Tours sent me the tour invite I could not resist but sign up and was happy I was chosen for this book tour.
Dream Walker was such a surreal book, I loved that most of the characters were included in this book. It was easy to tell who was who by the description and I loved that each one can still be connected with the original all while still having some new ability that will play a huge part in this story.
I loved how in a way it still follows the same principle in some form of them traversing to meet other characters, but also how new characters are introduced with different powers and how they are a threat to Alison.
This book is a dark Gothic re-telling, including vampires and werewolves. My favorite part of the book is how the author navigates between the real world and Wonderland. With this being the first book, the way the author incorporates both worlds leads us to believe that we will see more of John as he finds a way to piece together what is real and what he feels is not.
Looking forward to reading more of these characters in book 2.

This original story surrounding the Wonderland lore is intriguing and offers a darker twist on familiar elements. However, I feel that much is left to be desired, as the narrative would have benefited from more depth. The shorter story format feels limiting for a concept with so much potential.

The worldbuilding, especially in the first part, felt rushed. It seemed more like I was being told the story rather than being immersed in it. This lack of gradual development made it difficult to connect with the world and characters fully.

That said, "Dream Walker" serves as a promising start. It introduces captivating ideas and characters, but it would greatly benefit from expansion into a longer format to flesh out a richer premise. With more time to explore the character development and the world of Wonderland, it has the potential to become something truly remarkable.

A big thank you to Net Galley and Cranthorpe Millner for this Advanced Reading Copy of this story in exchange for my honest review.

The cover alone made me give this book 5 stars.. & once I read it I'm here wishing I could give it more.

Twisty, dark, a superb mix of vamps, demons & lycans, I was hooked.

Alison our FMC finds herself in Netherworld after she's in a hit & run & ends up in a coma. I have to admit it did take some effort to warm up to her character. She came across as insecure, timid & overall a quiet kinda of person but the next she's suddenly fearless & ready for battle. However in the end I did find myself becoming more captivated.

I think the above comes down to the story being on the shorter side which isn't a negative it's just theres less room for that extra intricate character progression especially with a fantasy story when there is so much more to include also.

The ending definitely had me seeing when the next installment is to be published as I can't wait to read more of this gothic Alice in Wonderland retelling.

Thank you to LoveBooksTours & Bruce Martin for a copy of the book & tour opportunity.

Dream Walker is an imaginative and atmospheric twist on the classic Alice in Wonderland tale, and Bruce Martin delivers a story that feels both familiar and entirely new. From the moment Alison Wilde is pulled from her ordinary life into the eerie Netherworld, the book becomes a dark, magical journey filled with strange creatures, shifting realities, and a sense of mystery that never lets up.

What impressed me most was the world-building. The Netherworld is unsettling in the best way — full of demons, lycans, vampires, and reimagined Wonderland figures that feel fresh without losing their roots. The tone balances gothic fantasy with emotional depth, and Alison’s struggle to piece together her identity adds a compelling layer to the adventure.

If you enjoy dark fairy‑tale retellings, unpredictable twists, and immersive fantasy realms, Dream Walker is absolutely worth reading.

Thank you so much to the author Bruce and Love Book Tours for a gifted copy in exchange for am honest review.

A fun and inventive start to a series that promises to deliver some serious action. I really enjoyed this novel, which although more for a YA audience, managed to keep me invested until the end. So much so that I’m looking forward to book 2.

This story initially intrigued me as described as a reimagining of Alice in Wonderland, but I have to say that it positively surprised me as something very different and captivating. There are some elements from Alice in Wonderland, but I think the author managed to create something original with a great world building!

The characters introduced so far are funny and original, and even the bad ones are interesting in their own way. As for our main character Alison, I’m loving how she’s already showing signs of internal growth in understanding her role and responsibility.

Whilst there are a lot of unknowns and mysteries to find out, the author managed to grab my attention from the beginning. Also, how can you not love a story with vampires, werewolves and other incredible creatures!
My only wish is that I expected it to be a bit darker and more gruesome, but this is most definitely a personal choice.

Thanks to the author and Love Books Tours for a copy and this is my honest opinion.

This book is like Alice in Wonderland on acid! There are the familiar characters from that story but as you’ve never seen or imagined they could be.When Alison starts noticing strange things around her that nobody else can see or hear, she thinks she must just be imagining things. That is, until a mysterious stranger runs over her, sending her into a coma and the Netherworld. She is greeted by a strange man who calls himself Hatter who is tasked with finding out why she’s there. There are some brilliantly weird characters in this new world : Twin, a chimera who used to be her dog in the real world, Caterpillar, leader of the demons and cat who is like the Cheshire Cat only he’s her conscious. Couple those characters with a vicious, deadly Vampire Queen, and the Netherworld becomes a dark, dangerous place to be, especially since Alison is the Chosen One. I loved this strangely brilliant book with surprises and danger around every corner. I cannot recommend it enough in all of its dark, gothic glory.

Huge thank you to lovebookstours and Bruce Martin for the gifted physical copy of Dream Walker in exchange for my honest review.

This book was such a surprise! The title and the book cover alone made me so curious about it! I didn’t know too much going into this book so I was definitely surprised when I started reading and found out this was a very twisted retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I absolutely enjoy fantasy so when I read this story and saw all the characters we know and enjoy from Alice in wonderland plus with the edition of so many other different creatures from different lores all come together in one story, I knew that this was a completely different take on all things fairytale. Seeing the path that Alison had to take and how she found herself in the Netherworld, it was nonstop questions and action on who she was and why she was brought there. A true battle of light versus dark ensues and overall it left me more curious than anything about where this story could go if it was longer!

“Dream Walker,” by Bruce Martin

First of all, the author did a disservice to himself by not marketing the fact that this is a dark Alice in Wonderland retelling. You find out really soon so it’s not actually a spoiler. Good thing that I’m also a fan of horror. Anyways, it’s an Alice in Wonderland retelling but dark filled with creatures like vampires, werewolves, demons, etc. I immediately hated the FMC for being a pick me girl, but she gets better after she goes to the non-human realm. Unfortunately, I find that some authors make their main characters so unlikeable at the beginning so by the end they can say they “developed” but it’s not much in reality because they were so annoying at the beginning, and I got a little of those vibes. Regardless of all that, I did like the book and found it interesting. 4 out of 5 stars.

-Alice in Wonderland dark retelling
-Vampires
-Werewolves
-Demons
-Chosen One
-Multi POV

Thank you for the ARC, Netgalley.
