Some say this world is built upon lies. The most dangerous of them are the ones people kill to keep.
Former FBI Agent Spenser Song knows the risks of deceit. It resulted in the death of her husband, the arrest of her partner, and her departure from the bureau. She moved to Sweetwater Falls for a new beginning, as the town’s Sheriff.
While out on a hike, she crosses paths with a grieving mother. A woman that is desperate to find the truth behind her daughter’s horrific murder. The teen girl was found dead in the woods, her body showing signs of abuse. With many whispers and rumors swirling around the girl’s death. Attempting to solve the case could tear the town further apart.
With the desire to protect the town she has grown to love, Spenser takes on a cold case. Interviewing the victim’s mother reveals another layer of mystery to the case. It seems someone is attempting to scare the woman from looking into her daughter’s case.
High school bullies, a long-held grudge, and a devastating tragedy. Lies have power, but they also have devastating consequences. In Sweetwater, it seems the many whispers are an untamable wildfire in the making.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
What started out as a promise to a grieving mother turned into solving two other cases and setting three other people back on their heels. While putting up flyers of her daughter Spencer promised to find the person that killed her daughter 25 years ago. Not only didn't Spencer live in Sweetwater Falls at the time, she was only a child. The race was on... Where are the cold case files? Where are the coroner reports? And then there's Ryker's father... Great job. Thank you.
a cold homicide case revisited casts light on another set of wrongs
Small town social stratification festers over decades as Spenser reopens a cold case of a high school student’s violent death a quarter of a century ago.
The Haves, the Have-Nots, and the Natives seem calcified into prejudgments, assumptions, and unyielding self-interests.
Yet resolution and just desserts in small measure are effected.
Whispers in the Falls(A Sweetwater Falls Mystery Falls Book 11)
OMG!!!!!!!! This book was amazing and truly sad. I am so truly invested in these books that I hope that Spencer and Ryker get married and have children, I hope Ryker's father learns to butt out of trying to force his son into whatever he is trying to do. I want Spencer to be happy and safe. I want to live in Sweetwater Falls.
Sheriff Song inadvertently gets involved in a cold case. The mother of a murder victim from 25 years ago is being harassed by the town bullies- Three 40 something high school friends that never outgrew their meanness.
Will she be successful where the previous Sheriff was not? Also, what is with the continuous references to her upcoming election with another town bully running against her - it's about time for that to be over-this is the third book that has referenced this.
Spenser is asked by a grieving mother to find the person responsible for her daughter’s murder- 25 years ago. This is a well-written episode in the Sweetwater Falls series by Elle Gray. Her writing has matured and in this book she tackles some difficult cultural issues, such as chauvinism, racism toward indigenous communities, and fear of those who are different from us. Highly recommend this book and the series.
I love the work of this author. She writes extremely well put together stories that seem to carry me through as though I’m actually there with the characters! In this book, I was sure I knew who the murderer was, but at the last minute, Ms Gray pivoted and threw me for a loop. I’ve read several of her books and thoroughly enjoyed each one. I’m already looking forward to starting my next one!
Great cold cases can be very challenging to find justice for those who are victims of any sort. It is rewarding to have someone who will go that extra mile to find the truth in each case, very rewarding to know that there are law enforcers who believe in justice for any reason and do their best to find the answers to close these old hard cold cases, no matter what it takes. Well done.
I always look forward to another trip to Sweetwater falls and spending time with Spencer, Ryker, Amanda and the rest of the crew . This book revolves around a cold case which I am intrigued about. A young girl was murdered 25 years ago they solve it and while looking what other things do they find guess you will have to read the book to find out.
The story is good and keeps you on the edge not knowing who will be be caught until the end. I do not understand the use of taking God's name in vain it adds nothing to the story. I have not understood it in the other stories, but this one was worst than the other ones. I do not know if I will read any more!
And so another fascinating story unfolds and journey through the twists and turns fun and kept me up too late every night. All these mysteries are different and keeps you guessing. I can normally figure out the conclusion and "who done it" but Elle Gray has fooled me more than once. Love this series.
It was interesting to have an insight to looking at what goes on when a cold case is brought up. I liked the progression of Spenser and Rykers relationship. How they continue to help each other grow and trust each other. The story also shows how some people just can't move on past high school and let it shape their adult lives.
A twenty-five year old murder case of a fifteen year old half native girl is brought to the sheriff’s department by her mother posting pictures of the crime. While pursuing the murder, two rapes of native girls is uncovered and unraveled by the sheriff and the rapist is brought to justice. The pursuit of the truth is followed and the killer is revealed. Enjoy
Unfortunately that it had taken forever for Juliet to have closure on her daughter's death. Spencer was headstrong for answers, nothing got in her way. She really put those 3 snobby women in their places. Now we have to deal with Ryker's dad, not gonna be a comfortable issue for everyone.

This is such an excellent series, and this is my favorite so far. So many twists and turns, Spencer being a strong example for women, and her relationship with Ryker. A few surprises to add to the intrigue. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
What an emotional and suspenseful story, each of Spensers cases and her personal life are getting deeper and deeper and I truly hope that she and Ryker prevail. I am sure that all of us readers feel the same way.
This book was even better than I thought it would be. Rule Gray never disappoints me. Gripping plot, interesting twists, and characters that feel like old friends or family.
Another amazing book by Elle Gray. This time Sherrif Song is investigating a cold case from 25 years ago which stirs up a lot of trouble and angst in Sweetwater Falls. I have read every book Elle has written and loved them all. The perfect escapism fiction.
As usual, Elle Gray does a fantastic job luring you into a great read. Fast moving with wonderful writing, it’s hard to put down. Great characters that you can relate to. Can’t wait for the next book!
This is one of my favorite series. Each book gets better. This book is full of suspense and intrigue. I can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend this book and series.
Honestly I enjoyed this book more than any o g the others in the series so far. The twist on who the killer was surprised me some and the justice she was able to get for another cold case was a nice addition. Really enjoyed this book.
Sheriff Spenser Song takes on the cold case of a teenage girl who was brutally murdered twenty-five years earlier. The number of suspects is larger than she expects. Can she figure out who did it and give the girl's mother some comfort?
This was a awesome story about Spenser finding answers to a cold case and solving it with lots of suspense and action. Thank you for this excellent story.
Sweetwater is full of secrets and when a cold case is reopened all hell breaks lose. Why would a unsolved murder of a Indigenous female bring so much trouble?
