Book #4 of the Contamination series - 'Escape' - centers around survivors Dan and his young daughter Quinn as they continue to trek across the country - running from the hordes of zombies. When they finally make it Meredith's (Dan's sister-in-law) farm. The happy reunion with her and her boyfriend - John - is short lived when hundreds of zombies start making their way onto the property - leaving them to fight for their lives as they attempt to escape....
Much thanks to narrator Troy Duran for another amazing performance.

I wrote in my review of the previous books (a box set) that I doubted I would go onto the next book (i.e. this one). I really wished I hadn’t. Everything that I disliked about the previous books is only magnified.

For a start: NO ONE CARRIES EXTRA AMMO ON THEIR PERSON. Dan is a trained cop and not once does it occur to him to carry an extra magazine on his person, even when he has spare ammo and HE KNOWS HIS GUN IS RUNNING LOW ON AMMO AND HE KNOWS HE IS POSSIBLE GOING INTO A HOSTILE SITUATION WHERE AMMO WILL BE NEEDED. To quote my previous review “I understand that sometimes, losing a gun/running out of ammo is needed to build extra tension in a story.... BUT AT EVERY SINGLE CONFRONTATION- Every. Single. One. The survivors lose their food, their water, their guns, their ammo and their mode of transportation. Every. Single. Time.” The author used the same tired and predictable plot points to set up the story- rinse and repeat between the books.

No matter what the scenario- zombies, hostile people, being tricked, robbed, abandoned… NONE of the survivors learn from past mistakes.

Too many characters introduced and then discarded. Too much confusion, lack of direction, and stupid people that never learn. I see no point in continuing this torture. Finally tapping out. One star.

Dan and Quinn decide it’s time to head out. Quinn suggests they go to see her Aunt Meredith in Oklahoma. Seems like a good idea to Dan, so off they go. We follow Dan and Quinn in their travels as they come across infected and other survivors, most of which are worse than the infected. On the other side of the plot coin Meredith and Sheila have their own problems with Ben running amuck. Scratch Sheila and Ben. I can’t stand it when survivors do not do the obvious and instead do something stupid. Meredith heads to town and decides to look up her old friend John Parrish. She finds him surrounded by infected and manages to affect his escape. Now it’s Meredith and John on the road looking for comfort and safety. Ultimately our two parties join together at Meredith’s home where they make a stand against the infected. Good continuation in the Contamination Series. Well-developed and likable if not somewhat dim-witted characters. I’ll follow along in the series to see what happens.

CONTAMINATION- ESCAPE #4

The last book covered Sam and Delta's fight to get to Salt Lake City, Utah. They brought down the demented mind that planned the demise of the millions of people thru a virus hidden in food and water. They also freed prisoners being held by him for experimenting on.
This story follows Dan, a former St. Matthews cop and his young 11 year old daughter Quinn. The salvage yard seemed a good place to hole up in, R.V's and cars all fenced in by barbed wire, Dan felt that his staying here would be better for Quinn than outside of the wire's safety. Not for long. The white coated men with orders to kill all survivors have found them. Either way they've been found, and can't stay in the junkyard even if him and his daughter make it thru the night.

Absolutely terrific reading!!!

Consider this book as a heart-warming horrific zombie novel. It might seem difficult to understand that concept, but once you start reading, until you finish, you'll come to understand it right away. This is the 4th in the series. Make sure you start at the beginning, as the characters are all tied in throughout. Enough reviewing, I'm dying to get started reading the next in the series!!!

I have the omnibus edition of the series but wanted to review this installment - fast-paced, well-written, twisty and 'oh my, what now!?'

The relationship between Dan and Quinn is very well done as is the one between Meredith and John...some backstory and dialogue quickly demonstrate the development of characters.

Tense moments and suspense complete this compelling read.

Highly recommended.

Awesome

As a new writer I have been looking for something that draws you, cranks up the pace, makes you feel like you are there and makes you care about the characters. So far this series is it. You can almost hear the claws scraping against the door trying to get in. Thank you T W Piperbrook.

And that's it for me. Won't be reading any more of this series.
Too unbelievable, and little to no combat or weapons research.
When you feel like throwing the Kindle across the room every third page, it's gone far enough.

This was a good read and it's good to see what happens to the group's of people from the 1st 3 books. I just hope they all come together at the end and there is a grand finale

This is a vety well written novel about a zombie apocalypse. The first 4 books were a box set, and this is a continuation of the series. The characters a well developed and you will find yourself cheering on the survivor's. If you like zombie books I would recommend this series.

I enjoyed the book. I like that it pretty much focused on one family and progressed through their stories until their stories overlapped with each other.

This is book 4 in the series (if you don't count the prequel book 0 ). I liked this one better than book 3 because Dan and Quinn were back! :) While I like Sam and Delta, it was Dan and Quinn who kept me interested.

Because of the presence of the "agents", Dan and Quinn decide to head out to see Meredith who is Dan's sister-in-law and Quinn's aunt. This is the story of their journey. As expected, they face danger every day and sometimes several times a day (and not just from the "zombies"). Survivors are not always nice either. But the father and daughter duo make friends and eventually make it to Meredith's house.

This book introduces Meredith and her ex-lover but still in love with, John. Again the story goes back and forth but it doesn't bother me as much as I'm interested in all 4 characters. I also like how all 4 slowly begin to become a real family.

Well that was fun.

I think I have a contender for one of my favorite series. It's getting and captivating.

It's been hard not to think about the book and the characters, the author has done such a good job building then that you care about what happens to them.

Dan and Quinn are the people I doing myself routing for the most. It might be because I have children of my own,

Fast action

Enjoyed that a kid formed an integral part of the story. Fast action and great descriptions to add tactile content.

Hint: review again and fix many spelling and grammatical mistakes, and repeating words in the same sentence,e.g. Vehicle and creatures.

contamination 4

I enjoyed book Four the best so far. The different characters are drawing the story line together and just when you reach a climax, the book ends and your on to the next one.
