Another excellent Percy Peach novel.

Well plotted and well written. J. M. Gregson writes the Lancashire dialect brilliantly and has a wonderful turn of phrase.

Could not work out who the killer was... turns out I missed a clue. An extremely subtle clue. Will not make that mistake again. These books are deceptive. They look like a light, simple read, but actually demand the whole of your attention.

The protagonist's interactions with his incompetent boss provide the most pleasure in this book. The mystery itself not so much.
