4.5🌟, 3 🌶️

When it comes to saving the best for last, Emily Silver absolutely nails it with Bar Down, a heartfelt and swoony finale to the Nashville Knights series.

Jasper Hayes, a gruff but softhearted hockey player, joins a dating app and meets Quinn, a pop star determined to reclaim her voice and freedom. What starts as playful online banter soon turns into a real connection, and when they finally meet, the sparks fly.

Their relationship feels genuine and full of heart. Jasper’s quiet devotion and Quinn’s resilience make them a couple who feel undeniably real and easy to connect with. Their chemistry leaps off the page, but it’s their emotional honesty that makes their story shine. Both face loneliness and self-doubt, yet together they find comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging.

Catching up with the rest of the Knights adds a nostalgic touch, and the ending is pure satisfaction. Bar Down delivers flirty banter, secret identities, heartfelt growth, and a love story that feels truly worth it.

Jasper and Quinn shine as the perfect finale, wrapping up the Nashville Knights with heart and charm.

Heartwarming Love Story

What a blast this book was! I enjoyed every moment!

Jasper, the lovable grump with his dad jokes, instantly stole my heart. And Quinn, despite her fame, is refreshingly down-to-earth, grappling with her own private challenges.

The standout moment for me? The prologue filled with months of messages exchanged between Jasper and Quinn on an anonymous dating app. Their playful, flirty banter shines through from the get-go. As they break the ice and share things they haven’t told others, you can feel their connection deepen. It’s a brilliant way for two to meet and make an authentic connection.

I found myself cheering for them to hold on to the happiness they both deserve, especially when it involves their two adorable cats!

Come for the glitzy pop star and hockey star romance, but stay for the witty banter, genuine connection, and a heartwarming love story. Bar Down is a fun, light-hearted, low-angst read that’s sure to leave you smiling!

Bar Down by Emily Silver is SO FREAKING GOOD!! Jasper and Quinn are so amazing together. Let me tell you, the prologue in this book seriously sets the tone for this book. Hands down the best prologue I can remember reading IMO.

🤍Hockey player x celebrity pop star
🤍Anonymous messages to swoon over
🤍Age gap
🤍He falls first

Jasper and Quinn meet through an anonymous chat and form this undeniable connection. But one of them is nervous to take it further than the chat.

But when these two meet and have their first date, it seems like they have been together for years! That’s how comfortable they are together; and honestly that felt so relatable because you divulge so much of yourself to anonymous people online than you would to someone IRL.

I loved both of these characters and found their love story to outshine everything else. Both of them and their cats were one beautiful family!

This book is about two lonely souls searching for their happily ever after.

Jasper Hayes is a NHL defenseman for the Nashville Knights. His found family is his teammates (he has no living relatives). His closest teammates have found their forever and he wants what they have. His friends keep him close but it’s not the same as having “your” person to share life with.

Genevieve (aka Quinn) is a famous pop star. She’s also embroiled in a very public embezzlement scandal with her manager / ex boyfriend. Quinn is alone in the world minus her best friend Claire and her cat Dolly.

Jasper (aka the friendly ghost) and Quinn (cats r cool) connect on a dating app. They keep their real identities secret as they get to know each other given they’re both famous (one more so than the other). They exchange messages for months, sharing thoughts and feelings that they haven’t shared with anyone else. Once they finally meet, they know they’ve found their soulmate.

I loved Jasper & Quinn’s story. I also loved that all of our previous Nashville Knights family were part of their story. It’s makes for a great ending for the series.

No 3rd act breakup.

Highly recommend. Don’t miss out on the bonus epilogue.

Thank you Emily Silver and The Smuthood for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader copy.

I’ve preordered this book. Looking forward to the new series.

If you love text messages in a book... Check this one out!

Quinn and Jasper meet on a dating app. Their identity is kept secret because she's a pop star and he's a professional hockey player.

They both have trouble with their work when they meet online and find comfort in each other. I love the banter between them, the dad jokes they use made me laugh and snort a lot.

They have both online and offline chemistry and I had such a good moment with them! Quinn is passionate and determined and fierce and Jasper is gone for her from the very beginning and seeing them react to the other in person when they don't know who they are was so good!

It was also so much fun to meet the other Knights again and if you love the series, you don't want to miss the bonus epilogues...!!

Bar Down by Emily Silver was the perfect ending to her Nashville Knights hockey series.

Jasper and Quinn are everything you hoped for and more. From a chance online meeting these two had flirty banter for days. When they finally do meet in person it is absolute fireworks.

Jasper Hayes may be a grump on the outside, but this man is a softy inside. He has lived a life for one. And as his friends have all paired off, you can feel the loneliness.

Quinn “Genevieve” may be the pop princess, but she is struggling. When past decisions have derailed her life, she takes a chance on a man with a feline joke.

I fell in love with these two and their banter. How their relationship transformed, and how both weren’t too proud to say “I’m sorry.”

Be sure to read the bonus epilogue, to see where all the Nashville Knights end up after the end of their season.

I'm a fan of the pop star - older hockey player romance. I thought she was gonna just use Taylor and Travis for this story like I've seen so many other authors do - but she didn't and I'm so happy about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm invested in their relationship, but I like other stories too. Where Breakaway was sweet - almost too sweet, due to Dax's eternal longing - this one was believable. We figured out the meaning of his Cat's comment from the group chat and realized maybe Jasper wasn't being weird with his random comments. The months long chat bubbles between the two were disheartening. I can't imagine having a relationship in that space without knowing what a person looks like or who they really are. It was very "You've got mail", to the point where I was surprised there wasn't a reference to that movie. But Quinn sure held out on meeting for almost too long.

meg

I was very happy to see no third act breakup, heck there was almost no relationship to break up - but thanks to Noah, Jasper removed his head from his sphincter and got over it. Also, follow up from Breakaway -- Noah and Graham have a book, but it's in another series. I'm running to read it as we speak. I need to understand their dynamic, because I love them (It's Best of Both Worlds if you are curious). Anyway, back to this story. He gets a cat, there are cat jokes, they fall in love, things get spicy, there's a trial, hockey is played... All the things happen.

So million dollar question, did I like it? YEP! Should you read it? Sure, if you like hockey romance, this one was great. There was plenty of group chats, which always feel a bit more raw and real. I enjoyed her writing. It was a very quick and easy read. I mean I consumed it in less than 12 hours. Who needs sleep? Anyway, I learned about what a Bar Down goal was, so now going into hockey season, I'll have a bit more knowledge to impress people with. That's what hockey romance is for, right? Education? That's what I've heard.

Okay… Jasper Hayes, I see you and your swoony ways. “Bar Down” is a romantic, heartfelt and chemistry filled pop star/hockey romance that was a fantastic addition to the “Nashville Knights” series.

Jasper Hayes has been on the Nashville Knights since the beginning and he’s feeling his age. He’s the last of his friends who’s single and he joins a dating app where he can remain anonymous while looking for “the one”. And he matches and connects with Quinn, a woman who is also using the app to remain anonymous. Quinn is also known as Genevieve, a very popular pop star who is currently going through a legal battle with her former manager. The connection they have started out fun but as the messages continue, they develop a deep connection. Quinn is too scared to meet but a chance encounter, Jasper knows that it’s her right away and doesn’t want to miss his chance at the real thing with her.

I loved the first part of the book because we get to see the messages and how these two first met. It started out playful and fun but as they broke the ice and got to know each other, you could just feel the connection building. They are both superstars and having the anonymous app was the perfect way for them to find each other. Jasper is genuine, loves playing hockey and is close with the guys on the team. I love the bond the four guys in this series have formed. He had always been hockey focused and never really took the time to find a significant other. Quinn was going through some crazy things with her former boyfriend/manager that made me so mad for her and I wanted her to get justice so badly. I loved how she was a pop star but was so down to Earth and could easily be anyone’s friend. The two might have hidden behind the chat for awhile but once they were together, the chemistry was sizzling hot and so romantic at the same time. We get lots of scenes with the guys and their significant others and I love how close they are. The ending was so perfect for them and I loved their story so much.

3.5 if you’re looking for a low drama, spicy book then this is the one for you. I’d rate the spice a 2 (Possible spoilers ahead)

H and h are both likable. Both Green flags who are mature for their age. They don’t have any miscommunication issues or a goofy 3rd act breakup.

The first 20% is text messages. H and h meet on a dating app. Their texts are cute. I’d guess h is like Taylor swift. She’s a total cat mom and she’s battling her ex bf/mgr for her music rights and theft. H is a hockey player on the edge of retiring….hard not to imagine Travis Kelce.

They do have sort of a disagreement when H finds out h knew who he was and didn’t tell him. He gets it together quickly though. Once both are committed, they are both all in.
it’s all gas, no brakes

I’d say most of their relationship is in a bubble for a bit, but eventually the friend group starts to find out about H and h dating. Naturally, they all accept her into the group.

The final conflict is mild. It’s the court issue with h’s mgr. it works out when the ex is arrested. H and h exit the courthouse together which announces their relationship to the world.

The epilogue is h finally singing her song for H. H has retired at this point after he won the Stanley cup. I guess he is her professional groupie now. 🙃
HEA.

So yeah….low drama. Sweet

OHHH MY GOSH!! JASPER!! I loved Jasper, I have loved the grumpy, softhearted guy since Game Misconduct and I couldn’t wait for him to get his happily ever after. And Quinn OHH MY GOSH!! I fell head over heels in love with her. Jasper and Quinn together were perfection.

Jasper and Quinn meet on a dating app where he uses the nerdiest pick up line to break the ice with Quinn. I loved watching their relationship grow from asking random questions to sharing secrets. You could feel their connection even though it was all online. They were each other's safe place behind hidden identities; they could be themselves and they fell for the real person deep down. Quinn is hesitant to open herself up fully to Jasper and meet him in person after being burned. Jasper is patient and understanding and shows what a compassionate guy he is.

The banter is top notch. They had me cracking up with all the ribbing they do to each other. As well as all the ribbing his teammates give each other. The chemistry is on fire. It had me rooting for them to just meet already. The slow burn was totally worth it!!

This book was absolutely amazing and such an amazing end to an incredible series. If you haven’t started this series what are you waiting for, so many swoony hockey boyfriends right at your fingertips. Go start with Game Misconduct 🥰

Bar Down by Emily Silver scores a hat trick of heat, heart, and healing. This steamy sports romance pairs a rising hockey star with a chart-topping pop princess — and their chemistry is pure gold.

Quinn, a fiercely talented but emotionally scarred singer, is battling for her freedom from a toxic ex who also happens to be her manager. The last thing she expects is to find comfort and connection through an anonymous dating app. Jasper, the charming and grounded hockey player she matches with, quickly becomes her escape from the spotlight — until she realizes exactly who he is.

What follows is a secret whirlwind romance full of late-night messages, quiet hockey rink meetups, and sizzling tension. As Quinn fights for control over her career and identity, Jasper proves to be her safe haven — the man who sees her, not the celebrity.

Emily Silver perfectly balances the glitz of fame with the emotional rawness of two people trying to find real love in a world that thrives on exposure. With spicy scenes that burn up the page and tender moments that melt your heart, Bar Down is a perfect mix of passion, vulnerability, and empowerment.

A must-read for anyone who loves sports romance, secret relationships, and strong heroines who take back their power.

Bar Down is book four in the Nashville Knights series. It was so good!

One thing that stood out to me in this book was all the text exchange. I loved how much of it was in this book. It was perfected for them based on how they met and chatted.

Jasper and Quinn completely stole my heart from before their book started! Their connection started online. It was anonymous and completely flirty. The moment that they met in person, it was destine to continue. I loved it!

Every scene had that slow-burn tension and soft comfort that makes you believe in the right timing.

I loved how Jasper finally connected the dots and they finally came face-to-face. I was holding my breath. Dying to know how that was going to play out.

4.5🌟

This was such a fun and fast paced read. I started and finished it within one flight back home and loved it.

Emily always does a great job of balancing the romance aspect with the hockey aspect, giving us actual insight on the games which I really appreciate. It makes it feel like a true hockey romance read.

Our MMC is actually freaking adorable even though he typically appears to the world as the grumpy hockey star. This time we get to see so much more from him and his cheese was cute! I don’t want to give anything away but just know he becomes this big lovable sap.

Then we have our FMC and she broke my heart but also put it back together again. IRL I have dealt with someone like her ex who devotes his life to taking people under his wing and then trying to ruin them. My family didn’t get the justice we deserved and that man is still out there destroying good people. It was painful reading her story but I love stories like this because in a way you feel seen.

Their meet cute was so perfect and really set us up for the development of their relationship and then how they navigated it throughout. I really enjoyed this couple so much.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first read by Emily Silver, and I’m officially hooked! Bar Down is part of the Nashville Knights series, but it works perfectly as a standalone—I never felt lost or like I missed anything.

The story follows Jasper, a veteran hockey player nearing retirement, and Quinn (aka Genovive), a world-famous pop star just starting her career and recovering from a major betrayal by her former management and ex-boyfriend. They meet through a dating app, and while Quinn recognizes Jasper through clues he gave her, he doesn’t realize who she is until they meet in person at a fundraiser. That leads to a bit of drama, but Quinn wins him back, and what follows is a sweet, steamy, and emotionally satisfying romance.

Jasper and Quinn are adorable together. Their emotional honesty and the way they support each other professionally is refreshing. The chemistry? 🔥🔥🔥. But what really stood out to me was the theme of being there for each other no matter what and the importance of open communication.

Definitely a cute read!!!!

Perfect ending!  I loved everything about Quinn and Jasper's story.

If you are a fan of hidden identity, secret romance, sports/pop star romance then you need to pick this up!

Jasper comes across a total grump but is secretly has a soft gooey center for those he loves.

Quinn is a singing superstar and is getting over a bad personal/work situation.

After a chance meeting online and some witty banter the chemistry is undeniable!

I always love catching up with the rest of the knights and their significant others.  It's always so much fun seeing where everyone is.

I loved every minute of this.  Looking forward to seeing what is next from this author.

Something about an MMC named Jasper just does it for me — EVERY. DAMN. TIME.

He’s a hockey player on the edge of retirement, and she’s a pop star trying to rebuild her life after discovering her ex (and manager) was stealing from her. They meet on a dating app, totally unaware of who the other really is — and their messages? Flirty, funny, and downright adorable.

Once the truth comes out, things get fast, steamy, and oh-so-swoony.
I loved how their secret chats led to such a fun, whirlwind romance.

A quick, feel-good read that had me giggling, swooning, and cheering them on the whole way. 🏒💋

We are back to seeing what the Nashville knights Hockey team is doing. In this story we get Jaspers story of love. This was like a story I hadn’t read. We get these messages of these two while in the dating app. There conversations made me laugh at times. So what happens when they finally meet. Will it go as planned?? Jasper and Zucchini his cat made the grumpy hockey player look less grumpy. Quinn was trying to be the best she could be.
The bonus epilogue is a can’t miss for fans of this series!!

I was a sucker for this one from the very beginning. Much of the beginning of the book is text conversations between the MCs on a dating app. The interactions are cute, dorky, and endearing. They really seem to gain a sense of each other well before ever agreeing to meet in person. Turns out I'm a sucker for slow burns. Who knew! Plus, the FMC is an unapologetic curvy girl which always wins points with me. I really liked this one and hope you'll pick it up on KU. It's out now. Thank you to @thesmuthood and author for my eARC.

Quinn & Jasper
This romance had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Quinn and Jasper’s story is the perfect mix of slow-burn tension, real-life struggles, and that heart-melting kind of love. I’ll be honest — I was getting impatient with how long Quinn made Jasper wait to finally meet in person 🤣, but when they did, it was so worth it.

Both of them face so many challenges in their careers — especially Quinn, who’s juggling fame, pressure, and a past that still haunts her. Through it all, Jasper’s patience and quiet strength made me love him even more. They keep their relationship private while figuring out where it’s headed, but the way they support each other through every high and low shows just how deep their connection runs.

It’s the kind of love story that makes you believe in fate and teamwork — the kind you never want to end.

First off I loved the the MC’s weren’t in their 20’s! Don’t get me wrong nothing wrong with it, but once in a while I do love when both characters are a little older. That being said, I loved how this series ended!

What happens when 2 famous people anonymously sign up for a dating app and they’re paired up? The Chemistry is through the roof! They tell each other things they’ve never told even their closest friends. But, he’s ready to be all in and she’s too scared to meet in person.

Once they finally connect, they help each others with all the internal battles they’ve been fighting alone.

Such a great read, and of course the spice was just 🥵

Emily Silver did it again! Thanks for the Smuthood for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Such a freaking cute and quick read! Jasper and Quinn’s story was adorable. A hockey player and the world’s biggest pop star? Sign me up! From page one, it started off cute, with puns and the same goofy hockey team you know and love from the previous books. Everyone is just so damn likeable. I loved and appreciated how quickly Jasper and Quinn fell into a realistic connection and relationship through a dating app. Was there a ton of smut? Not really, but what was there, it was steamy.

Such a worthwhile read!

This book is as sweet and funny as they come

The text exchange between Jasper and Quinn on the dating app is the best I have read in a long time - their chemistry jumps off the page right from the start

Once they get together the chemistry is even better and the spice is perfect 🤭
Jasper is a pro hockey player and is the sweetest most perfect golden retriever boyfriend ever and Quinn is a sweetie pie Pop Star who deserves his love.

Then you add in: a fun bunch of team mates like Noah and Graham, Brussel sprouts, Zucchini and a Twatopotomus and the smiles just keep coming.

Loved this and highly recommend you add it to your TBR

This was so Travis and Taylor coded and I am not mad at it! I loved the text messages..I mean who doesn’t love a good group chat moment in a book?! The dynamic between Jasper and Quinn was cute and I loved how they both were there to support one another and build each other up. It was sweet to see how they were each others biggest cheerleaders. The found family was so fun and it was nice to see that Chloe figured out her jewelry stuff (I was a little concerned with her in the last book 😬). Such a quick cute read. If you love cats with veggie names, down bad hockey players, musician FMCs and no third act break ups you’ll love this!

I absolutely DEVOURED this book in one day. I’ve been in a bit of a slump after going back to work on day shift and this revived me for sure. The relationship they built and connection they had just made my heart so happy. I also loved that there is no 3rd act breakup in this book, that always stresses me out🤣
Although idk what it’s like to be famous, I feel like she portrayed it very well and I honestly loved that all their dates were spent at home instead of out on the town.

Pop star and hockey player

This is an appealing romance between a pop star and a professional hockey player. They meet online with only their user names visible and their true identities concealed. The first part of the book is all in texts as they get to know each other through DM's. Both main characters are weathering life challenges. Quinn has been taken advantage of by a dishonest manager and is trying to win back what was stolen. Jasper is nearing the end of his hockey career and is trying to figure out his next steps.

This book was such an easy read. The first quarter is text messages between the two main characters, Jasper and Quinn. They have never met in real life at this point yet are falling in love with each other. And honestly I fell too! There is so much humor and honesty between the two. There is an age gap but it’s not really noticeable. The only thing that seems old about Jasper is his soul. His humor and friendliness makes him seem much younger. Quinn seems so mature for her age that they seem to match. Once the two meet in real life things immediately heat up and from there… 🔥 The friend group was funny and sweet. I’m always sad when a book series comes to an end but I am happy that everyone got their HEAs. Oh, and no third act break up for definitely 5 stars in my eyes!!!

—ARC REVIEW—

Let me start by saying, I read the ARC of Breakaway and I didn’t love it, but I found it entertaining and was interested in the character of Jasper. So going into this I was excited, and I’m so glad I read it.

This was such a delight to read. I loved the messages between Jasper and Quinn, and Jasper and the guys. It was spicy and sweet and had no third act breakup. Jasper is such a private guy, but the way he’s able to open up to Quinn was so cute. I loved their love story so much. This was the perfect short and sweet palette cleanser and it has made me what to read the two books before this one in the Nashville Knights series!

Thank you Smuthood and Emily Silver for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This one was cute, flirty, and full of great chemistry! I loved the personalities of both MCs, and their connection felt natural and fun. Dolly and Zucchini totally stole the spotlight — honestly, they need their own spinoff at this point!!! 🐈🐈‍⬛
