Seemingly Insignificant

Rate this book
It’s a story of boy meets girl.
But then he dies.
And Ruby Holloway knows it is all her fault.

Alternating timelines, of Ruby’s past and present, unfold what happened with Tyler, and why it’s impossible to escape the guilt that grips her. As Ruby enters university, she meets Josh, and instantly feels the same dangerous pull toward him, that she once felt with Tyler. But she’s wiser now. She knows how consuming and disastrous love can be and the risk doesn’t outweigh the reward. Or at least that’s what she tells herself.

Throughout the years to come, Josh reveals the beautiful ways friendship and love can heal, just as much as it has destroyed. But will it be enough to let Ruby forgive herself for everything that happened that fateful night?

A humorous and heartwarming romance that will have you smiling and crying until the last page.

AMAZING! From start to finish this story had me locked in. The characters were absolutely enchanting and the alternating timelines kept you on the edge of your seat. This is one of those captivating romance novels you never want to end. As a fellow Michigander, I loved the familiar landmarks as well. This was such a fun read and I truly can’t recommend it more!

This was the perfect end of summer read! A beautifully written love stor(ies) with the perfect amount of spice. This book gave me some serious nostalgia. I felt myself feeling that sick to your stomach and intense feeling that falling in love when you’re young brings. I love the way the chapters flipped back and forth between high school and college / post college. It has me addicted to find out what happened next and I read the last half of the book in two days. I hope this new author continues to write and publish books because this was one of my 2024 favorites!

Wow, wow, wow! Go read this book.

I laughed. I cried. I was invested in these characters. The feelings and emotions are so relatable. The characters are flawed and real. The slow burn burnsss 🔥 The two parts of the story come together in a crazy way that left me hollering!

The local setting was super cool with so many shout outs to the area. Might be my favorite read of the year!

I can’t really put into words how much I love this book. The writing flowed so well- you really felt like you knew the characters as if your own best friends. I loved the past and present back to back chapters! It kept you turning the pages to see how the storyline continued to unfold. And so relateable in so many ways. I could drone on- I’m on an official book hangover from this one. So raw, so emotional, deep, heartfelt, and funny. 10/10 recommend!

Raw, sweet, emotional, honest, funny, incredible, nostalgic, and relatable- to name just a few. Told from dual timelines, I couldn’t stop reading this page turner. Typically I favor one timeline over the other in books like this but with Seemingly Insignificant I wanted more from both, always. I personally think it’s best to go into this one as blind as possible for the best experience!Nothing insignificant about it. I can’t wait for more from this debut author!

WOW. 🤯

On occasion there are books that I finish and I need a lot of processing time to even put my experience while reading into human words.

THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS.

From the first page of this book, I was completely captivated. I LOVED the way that it was wrote in present tense as well as past tense. It kept my neurodivergent brain stimulated and excited to read each chapter.

I absolutely fell in love with the story and Ruby instantly. While reading her POV I just felt so connected to her and I felt like in many ways she represented past versions of myself.

The whole premise of the book I was trying to figure out what happened to Ruby to genuinely make her believe that she wasn't worthy of love. It was heartbreaking to read but I also felt like it was so healing at the same time. I've been in a similar position where the guilt of something eats you alive internally and the author Abigail showcased this part of the grieving process in such a beautiful REAL way.

When I tell you that this is one of my all time favorite books, I really mean it. It healed me, made me feel so deeply and made me look at the past versions of myself with so much love, compassion and forgiveness.

This is in the top 10 reads of my entire year and possibly life.

Please read this book.

The fact that this is Abigail's debut novel is MIND BLOWING the writing was PHENOMENAL.

My favorite book of 2024, and my top 5 book of all times.(and I’m a serial reader🙃) I absolutely loved the emotional roller coaster I was on with the characters. I loved them, I related to them. The deep connection I had with the characters in the book was unreal. I’m sad I won’t ever get to read this book for the first time again. I loved how I felt like I was on this journey and all the twists and turns. Some I didn’t see coming.

Incredible Love Story

This book will make you laugh, cry and feel all the feels. It’s part college romance, part coming of age, and it’s hard to put down after Chapter 11. I cannot recommend enough. Definitely perfect for my book clubs.

This book was one of the best love stories I’ve read in a while. I immediately felt connected to the main character and immersed myself into her life. A lot of flashbacks to my own relationships and then finding your one true love ❤️ can’t wait for more books from Abigail!

So good! The author does such a good job of really setting the scene but not over describing everything and boring you. I was hooked from the very beginning!

1.5 ⭐️ because the author surprised me with one part of the story; the rest of it was poorly written and even more poorly edited

Entertaining enough book, kind of hate the main character, behavior is accurate to the age range of the characters but I just couldn't stop cringing at the childishness of them all.
