First it was just the stuff of scifi, from Spiderman to Swarm. "Mutant" called to mind Frankenstein and Ninja Turtles. But with the successful cloning of Molly the sheep, genetics leapt from laboratories and Hollywood
DNF at page 90.... The style of explanation and the topics discussed is very much for beginners, and not for those who are looking for quality science reading. Great book for people who want to learn about the basics of genetics, but not for me.
A good introduction to genetics and the background stories that shaped the field. Visual narrative of technical subjects always deserve attention as they offer a broader dissemination impact than other texts.
A good start for anyone interested in dipping their toes into the waters of genetic science. There are some things that I wish the author had gone into more detail on but now I have a starting point for further research at least. If you plan on using this book for a jumping off point I advised keeping a notebook handy while reading so you can jot down notes on thing you want to know more about.
Other than that this was a fun, easy read with a vast amount of information crammed into very few pages.
I really liked this book because it was very informational and I love science. Sometimes it was confusing but that's only because it had a lot of big huge sciency terms. I really liked the little illustrations it had, and how much the book covered. I want to read more books by this author because he seems to know what he's talking about. This book could be really boring to people who don't like science or don't like nonfiction and getting really in depth with a book. I personally loved it because it made me feel like ten times smarter, and well, science is AWESOME.
The was a great overview and would be good for people without much science background to understand genetics. I was not aware of some of the history and it was fun. It is a tad outdated.. not so much that things are horribly innacurate but a decent amount of advances have been made.
