Sevyn Siikriiti is a total homebody who lives in her family’s fourth-generation house in Utah. She likes being alone with her pets, her candles, and her old horror movies; partly because she’s an introvert, partly because the rest of the town thinks her house is haunted and she’s a witch. Are they right? Well…yes. Ghosts are residents, and witch’s brews are made just as casually as dinner. But with her parents heading to the Old Country of Finland to attend a ‘death party,’ she’s left to fend for herself and go into town, and face all the people who hate her. But all of a sudden, men start showing up at her house, drawn by some unusual force. Turns out, the dearly-departed Grandma Venla, and Sevyn’s mother, have cast a spell to bring every eligible bachelor to her front door. These witchy women are playing matchmaker with Sevyn’s heart! Drawn first by magic, and then a desire to do magic, the six men and Sevyn start stirring up Cedar City like never before. Five of them will find their own path, and one will make this the best Halloween of her life.

I loved this book it was so good I love books like this and I’ve been so lucky to read so many lately. I also love that it was sweet and clean and no one in the book was having meaningless sex with people whose last name they didn’t even know this book was so sweet so funny it was just awesome. I absolutely loved it. Who knew I loved paranormal romance stories I sure didn’t until lately.#Hidden Jim’s, #Jennifer Loy, #SevynSpellsAWitchyTale,

3.5 I am a huge fan of cozy fantasy with low stakes! I don’t have many complaints for this book (some of the dialogue was annoying, the almost instant love/friendship isn’t my favorite, and it was hard to pick out who was really talking). I basically read this in one sitting and enjoyed the added touches of chapter titles, the detailed spells with instructions, and the heavy emphasis on the main character (and her family) really leaning into the “I’m a witch” personality. The blurb for the book is accurate. I would recommend for anyone who wants a relatively low stakes magically realism//slide of life read. There is definitely romance, but also plenty of friendships made and shenanigans that will keep you laughing.
I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. When I read the blurb, I had a feeling I'd enjoy it, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much. Are there ridiculous moments? Yes, but I enjoyed them for what they were. I found myself smiling and laughing at the things that happened. I also want to say that I enjoyed how quickly the main love interest is shown. I didn't have to wait until the majority of the book was over to find out who she's supposed to be with. I really appreciated that because it allowed me to fall in love with the end game man's character and nit get hung up on someone else.
Anyways, this is a fun, lighthearted Halloween read, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.
Not just another witchy tale. There is excitement, love, and surprises you don't see coming. I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. She is a home buddy so when her parents go away she is happy to be alone. She will have to go into town where everyone hates her. She will not be happy to about the reception she will get and she needs to try to deal with it all. How will she deal with it? Can she deal with it all? See how it will all go I received an advance copy from hidden gems and I want to review
Not just another witchy tale. There is excitement, love, and surprises you don't see coming. It is a very cozy story that makes you root for every couple. It is also the perfect found family story that shows the impact friends can have if you are open.
Sevyn Spells is a delightfully entertaining and creative story about a young witch, Sevyn, exploring concepts of self-acceptance, friendship, and love in the midst of a hilarious series of plot points. While there were times that the plot felt a bit disjointed or there was a tad too much exposition, Sevyn makes up for any and all potential criticisms with a magical amount of sass and a generous side of character development. The supporting characters also contributed their own unique charisma to the storyline and became some of my favorite parts of the book (shout out to Grandma Venla). Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Sevyn Spells, thought the cozy, witchy vibe was just perfect for me, and hope that Jennifer Loy will *conjure up* a sequel soon!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This charming story with fascinating characters and a deliciously magical, otherworldly bent has its imperfections. The book feels like it has two very distinct parts that aren't well connected or integrated. The first chunk of the book deals with witch Sevyn, the daughter of a witch and a non-magical father, as she comes out of hiding, discovering both prejudice and newfound friends (and perhaps a boyfriend!). She's more than a bit of a recluse. Even though she's rapidly approaching 30—on Halloween, naturally!—her parents have essentially enabled her to live on her own, separate from the small town they live near, with her father bringing her food and other necessities that aren’t easily attainable online (like hay for her critters). Her parents are soon winging off to celebrate the death of a magical relative in Europe, leaving our heroine to fend for herself while they are gone.
Her mom whips up a little spell, though, before she goes, trying to bring men into her daughter's life who could become a partner. As you may imagine, Sevyn’s not wild about this idea at all! Suffice it to say, though, she and the seven men become fast friends, and two actually become potential romantic partners. This part of the book was actually utterly charming, even though it didn’t really have dramatic tension or rising suspense; it was more like we got to hang out with cool people doing magical things as they (and we) got to know each other. Some of her new male friends were already interested in a lady in town, and essentially, they all worked together to help those who were interested in someone attract that person. Seriously, this part of the book was a lot of fun! She and the men chose different spells for each potential pair, and they whipped them all up together, sometimes with very unexpected results!
After the men got paired up, the book switched in such a way that it felt like a completely different story. All of a sudden, an evil warlock is in town who has it out for our heroine and her family. This just was not foreshadowed enough, if at all, before suddenly, the story was all about that. Yes, she had some help and solid backup from her male friends and potential romantic partner, but everything flipped just way too quickly. There could have been hints from the very beginning, and it could have been gradually integrated into the moments with the men.
I did enjoy certain aspects of this story despite its two distinct, incongruent parts. I love the way that magic was portrayed, in so many ways. I loved how the generations of the heroine's family regularly visited her home as ghosts! She might have lived a secluded life before she gained her friends, but she was not alone! I loved how each of the men and other people reacted when they realized that actual ghosts regularly inhabited the house. I also love how Sevyn and her new male friends chose different magic spells out of her family's spell book, made them together as a group, and were voyeurs watching the spells play out. The magical aspects of this book were just a delight! If you don't mind the two disconnected parts of the book, otherwise the characters and all that happens to them and because of them are thoroughly enjoyable.

I received a free digital copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Sevyn Silikriiti is a witch that lives in her families home, to her it is normal but to the town it is spooky and they don't like Sevyn much. Sevyn is a home body that likes to watch TV, which I have also watched and sometimes still watch: Addams Family and Munsters. I also liked the mind reading spell, who wouldn't want that ability.
Sevyn's Mother and Grandmother Venla, a ghost, casts a spell that causes men to flock to Sevyn's door. Six men show up and the fun begins. Spells are casts to help some of the men capture the attention of women in the town but one man wants Sevyn's, Really interesting read with a great casts of characters. I loved who Sevyn ended up with.
This is a cute romance book about a woman who happens to be a witch. There were a lot of clichés throughout the book. Sevyn's mother doesn't want her to be alone anymore and casts a spell to have single men come out to their haunted house. Six men show up, and many shenanigans ensue. Of course all of the men want to mess around with the spell book. Unfortunately most of the guys have their sights on other women in town. They all brew up some potions to get these other women to notice them. It was a cute quick read. Thank you to Hidden Gems Books and the author for giving me a chance to read it.

Sevyn Siikriiti is a sweet little witch in Utah, living with her pets, candles, and ghosts in her haunted house. Many spells are brewing with the magic in the home when Sevyn's mother and ghostly grandmother cast a spell to bring every eligible bachelor to Sevyn's front door. It is a cute, fun, spooky read that feels like it could be for YA and adults. Some parts of the plot didn't flow for me along with the dialogue. There are, however, cute detailed spells, fun ingredients, and adventures for each of the characters throughout the story. It's a light-hearted love story with fun characters to join Sevyn on her journey to finding love. I got a copy from hidden-gems.
I loved this book. The main and supporting characters were likable and their interactions together worked so well. The witchiness was great, and the details added a nice flavour to the book. The romance was pretty good, the only place I'd like a little more was at the end. We have our big reveal, and then it was over. I think a bit more or an epilogue, would have rounded out the romance part nicely. Overall, a funny and sweet story. *I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I won this e-book through a Goodreads giveaway. I would probably rate this about a 3.5/5. It was a cozy, witchy romance and I enjoyed it for the most part. The instant friendship with everyone was a little annoying and is the main reason for the low rating. Other than that it was a very enjoyable read.
Fantastic story, cute twists, and turns. Loved how the story started, with family always with you. Talk about having your family meddle in your life, wow.
I won this in a goodreads giveaway (thank you!!) and was really intrigued by the premise. the story had a lot of promise, but parts of it felt rushed while others felt too long & drug on. it was a fun halloween read, but wasn’t exactly what i wanted either.
