To ensure she would have the life she deserved, Kasper Zafar ended his relationship with the beautiful Emilia Ward, sentencing both of them to a broken heart and lonely life.
But haunted by the memories of the foolish girl who stole his heart, Kasper has determined himself to win her back—or kill himself trying.
It’s been a year since Emilia Ward left Iram manor, and when Kasper comes back into her life the walls she has constructed around her heart threaten to come down.
And she might need him more than she wants to admit. Yet as badly as she wants him back, she won’t let him get away with hurting her so easily. Kasper needs to learn his lesson, and Emilia thinks she’s just the one to teach it to him.
However, just as they renew their sensual affair, Kasper’s elusive past comes back to jeopardize their happiness.
If he’s not careful, he may just die fighting for her after all…
Another sweet and spicy book by Amanda Lance! I loved the colorful characters and the sharp banter between Emilia and Kasper. This unique love story just gets better and better.
Needless to say I should have waited until I was done with finals to read this one--could not put it down until it was finished!
A year after their (somewhat) mutual breakup, Kasper realizes he misses Emilia too much not to try and win her back. And of course, he manages to get himself back into her life in a very Kasper-like way. ;) As the story went on, my heart ached for Emilia and Kasper as both were caught in unfair situations. Although their love wasn't simple, it was believable. They had many obstacles to overcome, but I believed they could and should. Plus, I loved the pacing of the romance--not too fast or too slow.
A beautiful addition to this love story. The sex scenes were just the right amount of dirty and the drama had just the right amount of angst. Like the first book, Kasper was clever and Emilia was a sweetheart, making them both loveable characters. On another note, the epilogue was VERY sweet! I'm already pumped up for the next book!
Lots of twists and turns in this book with plenty of romance and angst in-between. I enjoyed seeing Kasper and Emilia develop more as individuals and feeling their relationship mature. Overall, a genuinely good read.
Tbh i did like this book. Not nearly as much as the first one but it was still a good contender... Unfortunately, I didn't like Emilia at all in this book.
A year was supposed to have passed between this book and the last and for some strange reason Emilia's character seemed to REGRESS from the last book. In the last book she was mature and understanding and- althouh a bit meek at times- her own person.
In this book, she seemed to flit between wanting him so badly and acting childish and bratty the next. I would've expected this from a younger Emilia but not the Emilia who had pretty much gone out into the world.
The best way to describe her behavior was that she acted like a child throwing a tantrum. She was mad at him for things she'd pretty much forgiven him for in the first book; which came off repetitive to me. And to top it off, the things she used to justify her anger were dumb. "We're different people now." When in reality they aren't. There's nothing that's changed about them except that they go out in public now. Big woop.
Then she would follow up those shitty reasons with even shittier acts of rebellion. Like when Kasper asked her if she liked to be called Em and she went from "well, i never thought about it tbh" to "you know what screw you i LOVE to be called Em." once she saw it bothered him so much. Or when he'd say she'd like something and she'd scoff and go "maybe i won't like it." Like, really? Come on, that was so fucking childish. I kept expecting her to stick out her tongue and go nana-nana-boo-boo, she was so immature.
It was small little rebellious acts like this that just annoyed the crap out of me.
I'm not saying she should've forgiven him for the things he did right off the bat but what the big problem (the one she should've been most angry about), the fact that he left her, didn't seem to make her as angry as the other stuff he does. Or did. Or that she imagined in her mind. Her anger came from other- stupid- places instead of the one that matter the most.
Everything else though, was spot on. I could've done without Emilia's temper tantrums and acts of mediocre rebellion but whatever. I'm hoping she grows up a bit in the third installment.
With the lack of graphic sex in the first book I was a little skeptic about reading the second addition. Pleasantly surprised, however, Natural Selection was a steamy read with an interesting plot. Judging by the way this one ends, the 3rd book promises to be just hot *wink* and I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Wow this was the Perfect ending to Kasper And Emilia’s story. It was well written and Amanda Lance did it again. I was drawn in I lost all track of time. And before I knew it the day was gone and night was upon me. I love this book, it was simply amazing. Kasper dose not know how to woo as he puts a girl. So he does the only thing he can think of. He has here spied on till he can take it more. With the advise of his assistant goes to get the woman he loves like no other. Now if he can only convince her he truly loves her. Granted he goes above and beyond what a normal person would. He just truly loves Emilia and now he won’t let her go. I loved the ending of this book and I know you will to.
It was okay mostly because it seemed unnecessary. It was a good story but the actual relationship was exactly where it should have ended up in the first book. In other words, other than adding some extra drama, there was no need for this book. It was good enough, not crazy good, but pleasant, but it didn't add anything to the characters, or the relationship - they were in love before and wanted to be together and they still do
Extraneous books to draw out a story annoy me, and while this didn't make me angry as the story was okay, the premise still annoys me. I don't know if a third book is planned to draw it out more, as they did leave a loose end out there, but I think I'll stop here
This was such a touching love story. I enjoyed the first book but loved this one so much that I couldn't put it down once I started. Kasper and Emilia have such sweet & heartfelt chemistry, and as the story began I just wanted them together quickly, but I love how the author took her time and built up their feelings for each other even more. They truly deserve their happily ever after with everything they go through, especially after that totally unexpected, nail-biting twist! Did not see that coming but loved the element of surprise that it added!
This 2nd addition in the Endangered Hearts series picks up a year from the first book with Kasper and Emilia still broken up and trying to get over one another (unsuccessfully) Well written, and with lots of angst and sexiness, we get to see Emilia and Kasper's relationship blossom with both character's mature. I hope the next book is just as fulfilling.
This book was just as amazing as the first one. After sending Emilia away for her sake and Kasper's thinks started to fall apart for both of them. Emilia adopted a pit bull that reminds her of her long lost love and Kasper is still checking in on Emilia. But when Kasper is at his wits end and can't stay away any longer. Will she be as excited?
Didn't care for book one in this series. The concept is good, I just didn't feel these characters had any chemistry together. Just completed book two and my opinions haven't changed, although the plot was better. Again just my opinion.
